The rain is skipping us and dumping out out on the plains (and they need it)...We have snow in the hills, flooding from snowmelt in Western Colorado, rain on the plains not in Spain and we might get T-Storms tonight with a 10 degree drop in temperature. ah springtime!

The newspaper account of the errant locomotive now had it going from Canton, OH to Anniston, AL and now mysteriously the locomotive weighs 80 tons/ 160,000#s which is  still a tad heavy for a GE 44Tonner (ex-USA #7948 ?)

Good morning. 55 degrees and Dew in Carolina this morning. CW, $3.62 here for regular unleaded yesterday. Good thing I am laid up and can't go anywhere except the quack. Speaking of quacks, I had two good reports yeterday and have one more to see this afternoon. Jess, welcome aboard and chime in anytime. Everybody stay safe

Good Thursday morning, everyone!  Ray, thanks so much for fixing breakfast.  I really do appreciate everyone's help around here!  It lets me have a little break.  And since you took care of breakfast, I'll clean up this morning.

Jess, Ray's correct:  no reservations required (unless you're booking the Cafe for a special event.  Then, I might need you to make a reservation.)  But normally, we usually have plenty of room for everyone.

Bad news for the holiday weekend around our area:  gas is right at 4.00 per gallon this morning.  In some places, it's just over $4.00.  Some folks they talked to on the morning news, said they had planned to go on a trip this weekend, but now, they're staying home.

......Good morning all:

A little bit early here this morning.  And it's still a bit cool here....Starting out {now}, at 47 degrees.  We're still running a bit below normal temps in our area.  Normally, that would mean we'll get up to about 67 this afternoon.  One thing that helps....the trees are motionless...no wind.

But the sky is clear and looks like another really nice day.

I'm sure one of these days it will turn from too cool to really warm....and humid.  So far, low humidity too.

Good morning! The coffee is about done brewing, and I've mixed up a fresh batch of orange juice. And I've brought in a generous assortment of rolls, donuts and bear claws from our local Sunshine Bakery. Chef [C=:-)]

Otherwise, breakfast this morning will consist of buttermilk pancakes, belgian waffles, bacon, pork sausage links and scrambled eggs. Chef [C=:-)]

I got up this morning at 4:30 and will be off to work at 7:00 this morning. I hope the rest of you out there all have a good day!

Joe:

The locomotive that wiped out the bridge is an ex-US Army 44 Ton GE (somebody please tell the journalist that 80,000# does NOT equal 80 tons)Confused [%-)]...still waiting for someone [trucking lobby?]to blame this on the railroad... Curious who thought they were getting a locomotive, only to find out it visited the chop shop along the way and came out a temporary bridge pier.

I'll take a number three.  Cool and drizzly all day.  Yuck!

I have a workbench to build here at work, but I don't really want to use that table saw out in the rain...

Hey, Sneaky Dan, are you still hiding in the garden?  Or are you over in the corner?  I need to know, so I don't spill anything on you, as I go by to put lunch out for everyone.  And speaking of lunch, I've made the following for lunch today:

1.  Spaghetti w/meat sauce, garlic Texas toast and garlic bread sticks, & fresh garden salad

2.  Tuna salad sandwiches w/fries and garden salad

3.  And since it's still kind of cool around here, some vegetable beef soup w/cornbread

Since it's kind of cool, thought I'd also get ready, and go take a short walk outside, but I'll be back in a little while, just in case anyone has any suggestions for supper tonight.

.....J....It's not unusual to find those type of oil well pumps and tanks scattered around in fields in this part of the country.....{midwest}, that are mom and pop operations...I simply missed the news report on this one locally.  {Selma, In}, just a few miles east of us.

It makes one wonder if it might be possible to really get serious with the better ones and extract larger quanities of oil out of them.  Surely these oil prices that are being charged now {$130 this morning}, will excite some companies  to investigate.

Just came back from the barbershop and right here now this morning we're looking at 4 dollar / gal. non regular gasoline...The signs were reading: 3.999 right here in Yorktown this morning.

And Pres. Bush just a few weeks ago looked at the questioner when he talked about 4 dollar gasoline like he was from outer space....Somehow we as a nation are going to need to get in and get our feet wet and let the world hear us.....Our economy is going to start to go into the dumper if something isn't changed.

We've been sticking our nose in all other kinds of events in this world, and it's about time we do the same with something on these oil prices.

Hmmm - Joe watered plants but didn't spray that bush for what looks like some kind of fun-gi.  Looks like it has eyes, too!  Weird.  I am going in for a CW donut and think about this one.  I think it needs observing from afar....

Q - I heard about your oil well here in the true midwest, also.  Wonder if our landlord would mind me digging up our backyard.....

Cannonball:

Asked Jean about what you said of the oil operation out in Selma and she said yes, I forgot to mention it.....She saw it on the news with the pump operating, etc....

When I find out a bit more I let you know.....I simply did not see it on the news....and I'm sort of a news junky.  {Really, not sort of...ha}.

Yes, the route 32 east passes by Selma now and has for quite a few years.  It's a 4 lane concrete road in that area.  I've not been in Selma for a long time.

Really, those mom and pop oil wells  are dotted around in the state and you can see them over in Ohio too.  Perhaps we should get busy in this country and get serious with some of the better ones and really see what kind of capacity they really can produce.

We're heading east Saturday and I'll kinda watch and see if I see any difference in them across Ohio.  Some have been dormant for some time.  But 127 dollar / bbl. oil might energize some of them again.
