Evening folks,

Dropping by for a quick bit of desert on the way home (The wife has choir practice to run on Wed and Thurs).

Hope you will welcome Crystal to the Cafe as she is a new member of the forum, A female Steam Engineer and Air Force vet.

Handled herself very well on her first thread.

Good Thursday morning, everyone.  Roy, Crystal is more than welcome to come in to the Cafe, anytime she wants.  The more the merrier around here (and we need more females in here.  I have been reading her thread!

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are all ready to go.

On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  Raisin & spice oatmeal w/toast, sausage/egg/biscuits, bagels, bear claws.  If there's anything else you want, just let me know.

We are starting off this morning in Louisville, KY with temps in the low to mid 60s.  Our high yesterday only reached 82, and we're to top out at 86.  Have a chance for some rain coming in this afternoon, I believe, and a bigger chance of storms coming in around 5, 6 this evening.

You all have a good morning, and take care.

.....Boy, the sun is certainly moving south.  Each morning here in the home office, as I look out my east window it continues to be farther on the way.

It will be a bright opening with clear skies, and temp now is 57.  Believe we're to get into the low 80's today.  Certainly nice weather with plenty of sunshine but we are still in need of rain.

Best to all on our new day.

Good Thursday morning and a welcome aboard to Crystal. Currently 84 and HEAVY fog in Carolina this morning. It is only supposed to top out at 79 today, according to the Weather Channel, altho AccuWeather sez 84, and guess what! More lightning. Hammercy, will it never stop? CW, thanks for the bearclaw and juice. Everybody take care

38!

That's the current temp at 8:18 at the airport.

Hello!  Mother Nature!  Fall doesn't start until, what, the 21st?!?!?

Gonna have to warm up the bearclaw this morning.

Crystal - Welcome aboard!  Any Air Force alumna who runs steam locomotives just has to be a good person!

Well, it's lunch time, and here's what I've got fixed for this afternoon:

Nice and hot open-face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters, gravy, green beans, corn, some of our last homegrown (so far) tomatoes, sliced and cooled in the fridge, and your choice of cole slaw or salad.

Any requests for supper tonight??  If so, let me know.  If not, I'll think of something.

Larry, you're pretty close on the Fall's start date:  September 22nd.

Tom, we have your suggestion for supper tonight:  barbecue pork, ribs (baby back) and cracklin' bread; along with:

burgers, cheeseburgers, fries and salad of your choice.

Looks like it could start raining any time, but nothing yet.  Air is really still.  Hope that doesn't means storms later tonight.

Joe - heard someone whisper "hurricane" to them, so they hurried for home.

CW - we are sending rain, but it is so humid here, the wind can't blow.

....Just a few drops of real light rain in the last hour.  Really don't expect much until the Hurricane headed to Ed's area makes landfall and swings northwest and continues to curve east then, and heads almost right over us.  If that happens, we'll get the rain we actually need.  Hope the muggys and wind stay away though.

Looking at sn** in the higher elevations this weekend. We'll take the moisture any way we can.

Guess we'll have to clean the dregs out of the bottom of the gatorade vat before firing-up the industrial Sterno Drum underneath it and putting the cider in.

The flies are having their last hurrah before winter and Nigel is busy snapping at them. Scotties get a little spastic when they discover bees are not like flies. Won't be long before the Aspen start turning. (I do miss the color in Tree's neck of the woods)

I'll try to remember to take the camera along next time I run. Smile [:)] Some trees are already showing a little color.

Good Friday morning, everyone.  No rain yet, was a quiet night around here, weather wise.  But, the rain is on it's way, from the northwest.  We might see a little bit of stormy weather, but looks on the weather map, that that will stay just to the north of Louisville.  Then, Sunday night, we're supposed to start seeing some remnants of Ike.  Sure do hope that Ed and family will manage to be all right, along with everyone else in their area.

Coffee, juices, hot water for tea are ready for everyone, and our doughnuts, danishes, muffins, cinnamon rolls, pecan rolls, bagels and bear claws are on the front counter.

We have some trees that are showing their reds, yellows, gold and brown color.  (Seems like it's been for about two months now.)

You all have a good morning, and please, everyone take care, especially our friends to the southcoast Gulf area!!

.....I was just over on the thread that has concerns for Ed down in Houston....He seems to feel they will have a better chance staying right where they are after he's made some preps to set out the coming weather system.  We of course hope and pray it will be ok for them.

My surprice this morning here is the temp....72 degrees about an hour ago.  That's considerable higher than it was yesterday at this time.

Cloudy and no wind....quiet.

Looks like just a little light rain overnight....we need it.

So that starts our day.   All have a good weekend....Tom watch that lightning.  I'm surprised to hear of so much of that down in the Carolina's.  Seems  we've had a below normal amount of lightning this summer season.

Edit:  We received more rain overnight than I thought we did:  .08".

Quentin - I had the same experience with the temperature this morning.  Imagine my pleasant surprise to check the thermometer and find it in the 60's instead of the 30's....

Rainy here this morning.  That's not a problem, though.  We haven't gotten drenched this summer, just kept nicely watered.

I'll be in the corner with my bearclaw and tea.

Cool and drizzly this morning.  Should be nice today, but humid.  Some updates:

-Partially torn Achille's Tendon now requires use of an AirCast boot for 3 weeks.  I'm not happy!

-8 days and counting to the wedding.  I can't believe it's practically here already!

Off to work!

.....Seems humidity is the operative word for today.....Temps are to rise only in the mid 70's.  Continues cloudy and just a mist of moisture at times.  The grass is a growing...!  Greening up again too.

Actually...I just got a soft brace that will suffice so no, I won't!  The honeymoon week will feature me in the cast, however.  It's better to have to 'deal with' the brace/cast than to have had the tendon snap.  It can always be worse, I just hate to be told not to do things.

I will grab a small plate of fish and then get ready for the bachelor party tonight.  Hopefully it won't make CNN or an episode of COPS.

Good Saturday morning, everyone.  Going to be a hot, muggy day around here today:  calling for a high of 92.  And it looks like the remnants of Ike will go to the north of us tomorrow.  Praying for Ed, his family, and everyone else in Ike's path.

Got coffee ready, and fresh juices are made, along with lemonade, hot water for tea, and there's some muffins, cinnamon rolls, pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy on the warmer bar.

....Humid, a bit of wind....light covering of clouds and 73 degrees about an hour ago.

Ed was on here untill rather late last night and of course at that time still had power.  Sounds like they had a pretty good chance of riding it out.  Lets all hope they are all safe this morning.

Sounds like massive distruction in the area.  Unknown how many people in low areas didn't evacuate.

Sitting here wringing my hands for all that's worth.

Looks like Ike is on a campaign trail - will cover many places of forum favorites.  Lincoln is looking pretty nice this morning!

Back to hand wringing.
