Good morning all. CW, sorry I missed out on that cheesecake. I had a situation here and had to have spagettios instead. Nowhere close to cheesecake, but that's life I guess. Mookie, it must be nice to have all that watching opportunity. Here, we have the CSX A line, which is active after dark, but kinda sparse during daylight. I don't have a clue about breakfast. Most likely, it will just be pot luck with emphasis on the pot.... Have a great day

Good Monday morning, to one and all!  Well, will be getting ready in a few, for my next physical therapy session.  Appointment is at 11:00; but I've got soup going in the Crock Pots, so you will have lunch today:  in one is vegetable beef soup, and in the other is minnestrone (sp?)  There is also cornbread ready to go in the oven, if one of you could pop it in the oven for me.

Sounds like everyone had a good weekend.  Supposed to get some rain, around 4or 5 this afternoon, going through the night.  You all have a great day, take care, and see you later this afternoon.

Tom - we really do have a spectacular place to watch.  It is private property, but the people are so nice about just driving around us - and are closed on weekends, so that's when we go there.  It sits just literally feet from 6 tracks - which run into and out of our yard.  And they tell us they run about 100 trains through there in a day's time - so we see usually at least 10-15 - depending on how long we can sit there.  If they put in a porta-potty and lunch counter, people would live there!  (no - I am getting to old to start a new business....)

Sounds like a great place to watch Mookie.  All I usually get is the CN and if I'm lucky the WSOR.  Sometimes 1-2 TPH, sometimes 9-10 TPH.  If I feel adventurous I can go to Fond du Lac and try to watch there in the yard but that's dependent on if the crews are in a bad mood.  Sometimes they call the NFDL PD even if we're way off property.  Lately they've been pretty touchy but with a pedestrian killed recently and a tractor also hit recently near there I can understand why.

And we can name her Denise for all the aunts and uncles in the diner and if they ever have a boy - Denephew!

....Driving back home from in town Muncie in the past hour, and stopped for a train by the "trade school"...and on the Frankfort line of NS, we were first in line and the first 3 or 4 brand new special enclosed cars, pretty long ones...painted a maroon color with big white lettering "Indiana Historic Train"....So they must be set up to carry the historic story {of Indiana}, to wherever.  Cars were long but not the extra height of the big volume box cars, etc.....They were headed west.

They looked brand new, so possibly not in use yet.

Pretty much that's the case.  When you see something neat you don't have batteries, or the camera itself!  The last one I missed was a trio of patched SP units on the CN in town.  I realized what the engines were and raced to get ahead of them.  Got there in time, jumped out and realized the batteries were almost dead.  I had enough juice to turn the camera on and then they died.....Banged Head [banghead]

Hi everybody, I'm back. I had to be absent for a while due to technical troubles. I've got so much to catch up on. It's good to be back.

Glad to have you around!

I'll get the crockpot going with some stew for lunch.  Cubed steak, taters, corn, carrots, and home made broth.  So thick you can eat it with a spoon.  The aroma of this stuff should keep people in here all day!

Good Tuesday morning, everyone!  Well, our rain guage showed 4 inches of rain, since noon yesterday, when it started raining here.  My neighborhood, where I grew up, has gotten right at 5 inches.  Supposed to have rain, off and on, all day today.

Lance, glad to have you back with us!!

Larry, congrats on the little girl!!  Bet Grandpa will spoil her  rotten!!

Dan, you must have read my mind, for a meal today:  I was planning on putting beef stew on in the Crock Pot!!  Thank you for taking care of it!!  I'll put the cornbread on, around 10:45, so it'll be ready, when the stew is.

Went for my second visit for the outpatient PT yesterday.  After all the exercises were over, they added electricity to the ice pack yesterday.  Was only supposed to feel a tingle, but I was actually feeling pain.  I managed to withstand the pain, until I only had a couple of minutes left of the treatment.  So my therapist said that was good.

Hope everyone has a good day, also hope everyone getting rain, stays as dry as possible.  At least it isn't storming, just a nice steady rain, sometimes coming down moderately heavy.

....Rain gauge in last 24 now = 1.35".  Cloudy and temp in low 50's.

On and off rain most of this week.  We of course need the rain but this is not as "nice" as last week's, 70 - 80's....

Mookie, glad you and Driver got to go out for breakfast this morning!

And I'll second the HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to the fowl pair!!  (Gee, wonder who that could be!! Wink [;)]

The beef stew is ready, and I've just taken the first batch of cornbread out of the oven.  And if anyone wants anything else, I've also got corn on the cob, and a few hot apple pies that are ready to come out of the oven.Do you want whipped cream, or ice cream on top of your pie?!?!

Mudchicken, hope you and Pat have a great anniversary evening!

Okay, I've got the next round of beef stew, cornbread, etc., out on the warmer bar, all nice and hot.  (And that includes all the pies and chocolate cake for dessert).

We are still getting rain!  Supposed to continue off and on for the next day or two.  One area around here, in the Metro area, has picked up over 5 3/4 inches in the last 18 hours or so, since the rain started.

Everyone have a good evening, and see ya later!

I'll grab another bowl of the stew and bread then make some containers for those who need them for work tonight.

Got a letter today from my bro-in-law.  He's active-duty Army and was supposed to be in Baghdad for the next 5-6 months.  He will now be in Africa for a shorter duration.  That's one prayer partly answered.  I hope he makes it home for the birth of his next child: he missed the last two for the same reason.  Off to write a reply-later!

Q - I was trolling for a radio station that didn't have politics or zombies and I ran across Indianapolis at 3:30 this morning.

They were just doing general talk and someone called in from Ohio - I swear it sounded like Joe!  Then I realized that the Ohio Valley has a very slight accent.

And we met some gentleman at the watch spot that were from Wisconsin and Manitoba (Go Canada!)  Only talked to the Wisconsinite, but there was that unmistakeable accent of the north.  (I am still not sure how they found Lincoln, but they were photographers and were very careful to take their pictures without tresspassing.)  You could almost see the locomotives smile....Cool [8D]

Warmer here - sunny - very nice fall weather.  But the trees just won't change.  They are staying green since we have had so much rain.  Not complaining, tho - we will take any moisture we can get!

CW - little peanut butter on my toast this morning?  Nice morning to sit on patio and drink coffee and dunk toast...........Yeah!! [yeah]

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  Mookie, here's you some toast with peanut butter on it.  I'll be right out to join you.  Glad it's dry in the Diner Garden:  we're still getting rain, here in Louisville.

By the way, coffee and juice are freshly made, and I've also made fresh tea for our tea drinkers.  On the warmer bar, you'll find:  bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits, gravy, toast, various jellies, jams, preserves, marmalades, oatmeal, cream of wheat and grits.

Walking out the door to join Mookie in the garden.

Almost an inch of rain yesterday - in the form of an all-day drizzle.  I need to mow the lawn again - after over a month of not having to touch it.  Still need to finish replanting bulbs, which is no fun in my heavily clay laden soil, in the rain.

Wind and rain took out most of the leaves yesterday.  Oddly, some trees changed, others didn't (and I'm not talking about the evergreens), although they are showing some colors now.

This coming weekend is the last 'regular' weekend of trains for us.  I signed up for a lot of the Polar Express excursions, though.

I'll be out in the garden with my tea, bearclaw, and everyone else who's gathered out there.

Tree - I am peeking in your coat pocket to see if you brought me my gladiola bulbs...I have the clay soil, so don't need that!

Wonder if MC got BH a blender?  I got one for Xmas one year.  Got a can opener, too.  He is no longer with us.
