Garry, I havnt been there in probably 3 years. I hardly remeber anything
Oh, yeah, now that I remeber, they restored a old 0-4-0 steam engine a few months ago. Originally build in the 19 teens, it used to be part of the Savannah Railroad. They are also restroring the old trolly to run on River Street again, a $50,000 project. Thats pretty much all I know thats changed.
Grayson
Hello everyone.
I enjoy reading your interesting stuff. I'm thinking there's a lot of non-MRR stuff going on out there. Come on guys. Priorities are priorities. It's too hot to be outside so get to work on those layouts! (Kidding of course)
Inch ... thanks for thoughts on things to do in IL. Do you know if Monticello museum is open on weekdays? It would be neat to at least see a 4-8-0. I looked on IL map east of Effingham and did not see much. Must be nice then because that would mean not too many people. I really don't care much for Chicago area of IL anymore. Did you say you were headed somewhere not far from JimCG?
Grayson... I was at the Savana RR muesum a few years ago. Anything new there?
I really appreciate the tunnel pix, Sue. NEAT!
JimCG ..... watch out for inch. He may eat all that froazen custard if he shows up there. How's the club layout move now?
Dick.. your info on the new eye check up procedure was of interest. Thanks.
Mark...good luck with the Big Boy. I suppose the layout is being prapared now for it.
Scott ...... sounds like you're on the right track. (Am I original or what!)
Speaking of layouts, I'd better get back to the layout here. BTW, I'll be leaving for Nashville tomorrow afternoon. I have routine heart tests Monday at Vanderbilt U. Hosp.. I normally stay with relatives the night before such tests. I don't expect any new problems. The treatments, etc. allow normal life, and I am thankful for that. I've had three heart surgeries there with the first in 2002. I would not look forward to the next one.
Happy Model Railroading, everybody

I think the record is five, but I wouldn't have a clue how I know that!
I'll try to pass that one up, maybe what I have done so far is enough.
Zoe, a glass of sweet tea and country fried chicken, please.
Dang, again? I seriously thought I only counted 19........ Well, I better count good next time. Zoe, put everybody else's bill on me. I might not even have enough money, might have to get a loan!!!
The bike ride was a blast.
The tunnel was at the beginning. Instead of going over the pass the rails went through the pass.
The west side has two tunnel entrances. I am not sure of the story, but I think that I may research it.
Here is an artifact.
I was interested in the avalanche shed because we may put one on our layout. Yes, I rode through it while everyone else went around.
Most of the trestles were covered with rock. One of them had the remnants of a boxcar at the bottom.
My old quad map had Chicago, St. Paul, Milwaukee, and Pacific, as the rail line. Every mile marker had the miles to Chicago.
Hi everyone. Great afternoon here, especially because my fever is history. Any heat on my forehead will only be an overheat from thinking . My trains are unreachable because there is an assortment of stuff on my desk that needs shoving off.
Jim: That thing with the dogs was FUNNY! I actually have a lightbulb joke that may be a little inappropriate, but oh well...
Mark: Hopefully the Bigboy will feel welcome on your layout. Make sure not to torture it with 15" radius (shudders).
I just ate so I will have (you guessed it) MORE ROLO!!! WOOOOOOOOOO...
...On Grayson's tab...
A large in a Union Pacific mug, please & thank you.
Wish I could be running trains, but all I'm running is errands. Still need a layout first anyway, and indirectly all this running around is leading towards that end in a round about way.
Thunderstorm came through last night, always welcome when water tables are low. Wife will start bushhogging the front pasture this evening when it cools down.
Hope everyone is having a great day/evening. Rob
afternoon everybody
havent been in here for a while, been busy all summer with RC Trucks. Its been quite warm here in Southern Ontario this past week but today its alot cooler out and can finally trun off the A/C and open the windows :) not much going on here though, I watched F1 Qualifying this morning and am going to watch the BUSCH Series race later on.

Morning yall,
Zoe, I'll have a cup of coffee and 1 of your breakfast platters (whatever comes on it is fine- ).
It was rainy day yesterday in the great state of Georgia, but this morning its nice and sunny.
Good morning folks!
Coffee and some coffee cake sounds good today!
I'm rebuilding Ben's PC that got hosed up from spyware and such. Re-installing XP Pro SP2 from scratch. It is one of those "need to do's" as opposed to a "want to do", I've put if off for months now.
Thoughts and prayers to all on sick call and in need!
Cheers,
Ryan

Mornin' All!
Well Jim, we're having about the same weather as you are......
Not a lot on the schedule today, and I'm likin' it! I should do this more often!
Think I'll go over to the corner booth and time how long it takes Jeff to finish off that second plate of food. That should kill a couple of seconds!
Later all!
I'm outta here!
POOF!
Mornin', Zoe -
I'll have a cup of coffee and some more of what Jeff was wolfing down there. You say it took him how many seconds to polish that plate off?
Went to give blood last night, and I think I had a newbie phlebotomist at first. She couldn't quite get the needle lined up in my vein (at least, the blood only filled the first 8" of the tube to the bag). Another phlebotomist (blood-sucker, so to speak) switched to my other arm and it filled the bag fine, got done inside of 10 minutes or less. Of course, this morning my left arm doesn't look too nice, but...
Another hot one predicted for today,
so I'd better get my breakfast finished up here and get laundry out of the way for this week. Then stay hidden inside some cool (A/C) space (whether at home or elsewhere) until about sundown...
Take care and keep cool out there, people. Not a fit day out for man nor beast around here...
Blessings and prayers,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Good morning ! from Indiana.

Scott: If you are going to keep wearing that hat you'ed better head on down here and give us a hand getting the caves sorted and load the ones for the sale barn.
Grayson : I'll be easy on you and just have a glass of water with lemon. Well maybe a bowle of sugar free ice cream with grape nuts sprinkled on it.
Steve: Nice looking younguns. They seem to be real into the layout.
I didn't sleep well last night so I'm beat. It was hotter and no cloud cover today. And no rain. Now that we had the bare space seeded at the well sight so the rain left. Figures!
PC: Now why did you have to go and start that poll out in the main room?
Good Night All
Hey all!
I'm feeling almost normal now. Worst vacation in awhile.
Now that I'm back, I'm saving for the big boy, and counting down the days 'til I turn 13. 19 days to go, and 14 on the big boy... two weeks... Let's hope I can summon enough dough. I wonder if Trainworld has it less than MB Klein... Gotta check it out.
Later,
Mark

Perhaps I need to start counting the posts before I post and make sure I dont end up on top. In the end i'm not going to have enough money to buy any trains!!!
Howdy y'all.
Went in for my physical today for NS. Doctor said I have nothing to worry about. Drug test was sent out too; but again, I have nothing to worry about there either.
Ryan: Thanks for the drinks! Now you'll have some insider info on NS. Too bad I won't be qualified for the Piedmont Division...Just the Harrisburg one.
Garry: Yeah, I don't plan on spending my income. I'm gonna be savin' up a lot of what I'm making, despite the fact that I'll have Railroad Retirement.
GMT: I don't believe I'll have any regrets either!
Jim in CG: Ya know...You ain't the first to make a mention about the "cowboy of the rails" thing. One of my friends in New York said that she liked the whole "railroad cowboy" persona. Guess that's just me.
Rob: I guess you've got a point there. But one day I'd like to get a horse for myself. Always have wanted one, but haven't had the money/land for it.
Secret Weapon: Yes, I sure do not want to loose my job or life...I will do whatever I can to be safe.
PC: Thank you! Hopefully I will see a lot of them hundreds coming my way.
Dick: Yeah, during the interview...I wasn't thinking that he could be testing my reactions or anything. I just wanted to keep my cool and answer the questions appropriately. Looks like it worked.
Paul: Well, on my resume I have a "Hobby and Extracurricular" section to show that I'm a well-balanced and rounded individual; and Model Railroad is listed. He saw that and asked me. Honestly, it stunned me too; I expected him to bring it up early in the interview.
Sue: Thank you! I plan to have as much fun with it as I can.
Nigel: Thanks! I've got high-expectations from the employees of the Baltimore yard from what I hear about them.
Inch: And I plan to try to learn all I need as quick as possible! The sooner I know what I need, the safer I'll be!
I won't be around tonight. The 4H Fair is on right now, and Jason Michael Carrol is performing tonight at the Ag Center. So I've gotta go to this! I'll catch y'all later.

Afternoon guys, been a rainy day all day just south of Savannah. Zoe, I'll take a plate of fried chicken and a tall glass of sweet tea, please, and just put everybody else's orders on my bill please, SINCE I MADE THE NEXT START OF THE PAGE!!!!!!!!!! Eat up everybody!!!
Good afternoon to one and all....it is so hot out that I burned my hand moving the black rubber garden hose. I could not believe just how hot that hose was, my hand is actually red!!!
The saga of the ISP problem and extremely slow to non existent UPLOAD, has been solved. It was a combination of several things: First, bandwidth on my ISP link was no longer sufficient ( too many users loading down the network, who knows ), secondly, the ISP had outages and the tech was actually surprised that I had service ( wonderfull ! ) Thirdly, my router needed some new drivers downloaded, Linksys does not have/use auto updates, so you must do this yourself with the Linksys Tech. For the present, data bits are flowing OUT at 250Kbs and IN at 5.4 Mbts.
The weather station out back went down also, will not register rainfall. So after removing the array and bringing it into the trainroom downstairs where it is nice and cool, I proceeded to effect repairs. As I was removing the rain collector, I heard buzzing sounds......not a good thing to hear inside the house, and certainly not in the MRR room!!! Sure enough, white face hornets were building a nest, only 3 of the devils, so after dispatching them, I replaced the reed switch only to find that the tipping/ measuring unit was worn out at the pivots, so now I have a call into DAVIS in CA for part replacement/s.
MRR STUFF: The airbrush kit and compressor arrived a few minutes ago from Micro-Tools, it really looks good, and the kit comes with 2 Instructional DVD's, so maybe I can be a Michaelangelo a little faster? EYaaaaa,,,, RIGHT !!!
MIKE: I think most of us have stayed indoors today, I have been out for short stints, but mostly in shaded areas.
MEDICAL INFO of INTEREST: I had my 2 year eye exam this week, and they have a new technology tool where they take a picture of your eye. You sit at this booth, place your eye up against a soft cup, keep your eye wide open, and center your eyesight to see a red ring in a complete circle, then they take the photo. From this photo, which is then sent to a high resolution monitor, you can see your optic nerve, any defects or starting problems like cateracts, retina issues, diabetes issues, ANY problems at all...this is aa GREAT advance.
The medical world is advising ALL people to get this eye exam at age 40, even before they need glasses or are having ANY eyesight problems, to be used as a BASELINE for future reference.
This test is quick, it is non invasive, there is "0" discomfort...I HIGHLY advise everyone to get this test. Hey, we all need to see to solder those tiny wires on Decoders etc. think of the future please !!

One word..........
WOW!
Afternoon all, ice water Zoe.
Kids gone early today and now it's to darn hot n humid to do much outside.
JIM CG,, we've been going out there for 4 years now [I didn't get to last year]. Found it by accident the first time when we [6 adults and 12 kids] went to Maramec Caverns, then over to St. James for the night. One of the women picked up a flier bout the park, so we went there the next day, luved it. Then us guys went back out that fall fishing an had a good time.
GARRY,,,,, are you planning on I-24 to I-57, then north. If so, when you get to Effingham, you be 40 mile west of us. When you get to Champaign, you're 1 ½ hours north. There's some good rail fanning spots up there on the IC/CN and NS. If your going to have few day, take west on I-74 to Monticello and visit the rail museum. They have 3 steam engines [the 4-8-0 is suppose to be running this summer], couple RS and F units. Or head north on Il 45, 20 mile to Rantoul and visit the Chanute air museum [I went aircraft mechanics school there, while in the AF].
