So, HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!!!!
On this day in history Jesus of Nazarath defeated death and rose from the grave! Praise God for that!
So what does everyone have planned for this beautiful day? Yes, I know it's cold out there, but it's beautiful anyways!
Me? I was at church last night so I'm hanging at the house today. I've got a big day of rest and relaxation planned for myself. Might even grab a nap later on!
How about you?
Oh, and Hoople.....I'll pass on the pizza first thing in the morning. Oh hi Chloe! I'll just have the #1, and put it on Hooples tab. Thanks!
Mornin, ham n eggs n coffee for me Janie if ya would.
Just down to 32 this this morning, and with a high in the 40's, it'll be a cold easter egg hunt this afternoon.
Worked on the layout some yesterday, got a little bit more done, even with J Bird here. She was busy helping granny cook for today. Might get in some more time this morning after chores.
Dick, we paid $4.40 a bag yesterday, but most the time it's been running bout $4.68 or so. We can buy for 3.75 a bag in full pallets, but it's a 70 mile drive one way. There was one outfit that was trying to sell pellets for $6 last fall, [saying there was a shortage], but they didn't last long. I think they've still got most their 100 ton, they started with
The pics are of the Indaina RR yard [was IC] in Palastine. There an ethanol plant on the W side of town. They ship to Marathon refinery in Robinson. Here's a couple pics from there
Here's a couple enigines that were in the yard Fri.
Only plans [besides the normal Sun. stuff] is gong into #1 son's for lunch and the egg hunt. Hope ya'll has a great Easter and remember those in uniform, who cann't be home with their loved ones today.

HAPPY EASTER to all!
1 week ago today it was 86F outside, today looks like we have 9" of snow on the ground. I had to drive into work this morning and I-90 wasn't plowed or salted (you have to love Ohio).
Well I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday.

Morning all -
As promised, here are the photos of the frame for the Learning kit I am working on....
Looking down onto the kit, from left to right - the 'white' board is the cardboard the kit comes in. The instructions tell you to use it....
And now from right to left....
And now the underside. I added the 1x4 here as I thought the cardboard was too flimsy to support the rest of the scenery and sub-roadbed and roadbed.....
Ok. I'm off to drink my coffee and continue on with this kit. I'll bbl w/ mroe photos!
Happy Easter!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017
Happy Easter morning to everyone!!! May the Peace that Jesus gave to the everyone in the world upon His victory over death at His Resurrection, be with all of you my dear friends and your families. May His healing touch be upon all who are in need this day and throughout the year.
On Christmas 2006, we had green grass, and temps of 34F, clear skies. Today, on Easter morning at 7am, we had some white on the ground, clear skies, and 26F!! Now we have cloudy skies and snow flurries. But who cares.... we all have each other and that is all that really matters right guys and gals?
Today, we are headed over to son #2's house for Easter and to enjoy the day with family and little ones.
As Mike said, lets say remember all our military men and women today throughout the world, and say a prayer for their safe return home.
HOOPLE: I sure hope you get your 2-8-0 real soon, I can't stand the suspense!!
MIKE: I wasn't sure if the CI was still CI. Great shots with your camera Mike, that is some plant !!! That price for Pellets is just what the cost should be, but there is always somebody who tries to take advantage of the situation.
A full Pallet load is 2000 lbs ( 50 bags @ 40 lbs each). Can mothers bus handle that load on the rear? Maybe with helper coils on the shocks, or leaf springs. That would be a nice savings of $42.50 by the ton ( $187.50 vs $220 ).
Well, it's time to head over the hill to son #2's house, I could walk there in 4 minutes, but carrying a pan of Lasagna and a Lemon Marangue pie is really asking for trouble on slippery hillsides isn't it? So we take the car and drive 1 mile around the hill and up the other side.
See you guys later, have a GREAT day everyone..

Afternoon all -
Here's the next 2 photos.
1st we have a test fit of the roadbed and track for proper length...
And here we have the plastercloth drying after application. I think I should have made it thicker on the right side, but oh well....
Anyway, about this kit - IMHO, the instructions are ok. Some parts are a little sketchy, but all in all - good.
Take care!

Good Easter Sunday afternoon to one and all. (Thanks PC and Dick for the reminder of what this is all about…Jesus, not rabbits!) We weren’t able to get where we wanted to be this morning because of the weather; a “White Easter” yet! We didn’t get more than perhaps 3 inches here, but up country where we had to go was a quite different matter, and then there’s the wind to blow it all around. Now it’s melted off the roads, and the sun is shining, but the wind is still very boisterous.
On the mrr front, I was able to get the two Diovan boxes that were standing in for a small business building covered up to look more business like yesterday. So now it’s MicroTECH courtesy of words clipped from the weekend flyers. I’ve gone through the others just before tea, and have a number of things clipped to make other business names, but nothing that really sings to me yet. No hurry, the OXO and other boxes were that way since about May last year! Anyway, here’s MicroTECH. I’ve also taken away the trailer (It happened to be a Maine Central, BTW Colby) and you can see the recessed loading bay better.
RT: Did what you needed come through on my last email?
Sue:
It is sad that we need locks.
OZJim: Good to see you could drop by. Thought of you yesterday as I caught the rout of Sri-Lanka by Pakistan. They sure crumbled quickly when they started to.
JR:
Der - We have people who do our taxes as they say on tv.
Line 1: fill in your income. line 2: send in the amount from line 1.
JP: Yep, not all those experiments are a success first time are they! The grader and those trucks look really good. (Drool, even if they are too big) Looking forward to more of your progress shots on the WS scenery kits.
Luc: As I said in the email, we remembered Gloria and you at our service this morning.
Dick: Thanks for your kind words.

Larry and I have managed to get several projects done on the layout this weekend.
We did an old fashioned barn raising.
And Larry got the decoder installed on one of our MDC Shays. He put the NWSL regearing kit in last weekend. It has been on the shelf since we switched to DCC 1 1/2 years ago.
I am working on another scratchbuilt tunnel portal on the upper line.
Well, back to the layout.
Sue
PS. Your warehouses look great, der.
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
DER yes it came thru as inch sent it also when flip emailed him back after I sent a joke to inch and asked him to fwd to flip.
Hope all had a good easter dinner mine was great. its been a good day here Gots to remember no breakfast for me in morning the doc wants to play vanpire with me in the am lol. Oh well wants to check my cholestrol and a couple of other things. Went to go see him been having minor chest pains so he wants to do that and send me to my cardialogist also
I'm thinking (so is cfo) that maybe I need to find somethin not so fisical as I'm doing as I'm not in the best of health and this type work seems to be doing its number on me or maybe the doc will say I need to work out some more and this should go away here only time will tell but think my doc was kinda concerned as he said he wanted me to tell my cardialogist what I told him
Oh well here we go again hope not but preparing myself just in case. Guess good thing is that difibalator hasn't gone off in the year I have had it
Well will keep you all informed in what all is going on with me.

Good evening everyone...I hope everyone had a nice Easter.
PC: After seeing your Easter Bunny, I had wondered in my mind "where did the Easter Bunny" tradition start? I didn't have long to wait to find out. At church in the weekly bulletin, the front page had a question by a young person asking the very same question. It seems that it dates back to the Egyptians. The Hare was their symbol of sorts for the moon. And much later on in modern history, we all know that Easter is the first Sunday after the first full "moon" of Spring ( March 21st ) So the Hare became associated now with the Easter full moon, hence....the Easter Bunny.
SUE: You and hubby are making very nice progress, I really think it is great to have husband and wife enjoying this hobby together.......great job !!!
DER JOHN: Your not out of the woods yet regardong winter weather. There is another good siz storm brewing here for this Thursday, which should be upon you guys by Friday, so keep an eye the bay south of you. BTW, that factory name , Micro Tech...they were here in Worcester, Ma back when I worked for Sprague Electric Co ( the capacitor co. ). Micro Tech made semiconductor wire bonding equipment.
Time to watch TV program, see you guys later,

Best be watchin' the Red Sox on ESPN there Dick!
Good Evening, Janie - How bad was the damage from my TOTP earlier? That bad, huh? Well, it’s a good thing payday arrived. Ouch! Looks like I'm buying again! Oh, what the heck, I’ll have a couple of slices of that pizza and a nice glass of wine. What? You have mushroom and ground beef pizza, too? Yep, give me a couple of those, too - Yum! Any Easter egg hunts this morning here, needed to be done with warm mittens on! On the weather stuff, I can understand Dick or our Nova Scotian cousins getting the snow later in the season. Now, RT or Paul getting snow, that is what’s surprising to me! We haven’t really had any frost on the windshield of my car (surprisingly, with the lows in the 20’s). Guess the dew point’s not been at the ‘right’ temp (that’s fine with me).Colby, you’ve been finding the bargains, all right - way to go! From the video, I was thinking you had a modified oval on your track layout. And it’s good that you’ve saved with those bargains, since you got TOTP! With those trees, all you need is some ‘snow’ on the ground to look like Dick’s yard!
Hoople, hope your Connie comes in while you're gone, at least. As Dick said, the suspense is getting to us... and I know it's getting to you!JP, good to hear that somebody up there in the Northeast missed getting snow! I’ll be interested in your pics on the WS kits (especially the Rock Faces one), since I have three of their learning kits (Rock Faces, Landscaping, and Trees) - since I’m modeling the Southwestern U.S., not a lot of rivers (maybe a creek bed or two).Inch - Good deal on the ultrasonic cleaner - good for getting the old remaining paint off an engine you want to repaint, and other cleaning jobs. Jerry, good that you got a chance to visit with the kids and grandkids today.Jeff, did you see any sleet over the weekend? I heard Baton Rouge got some, and wasn’t sure if you might’ve seen some in your neck of the woods.Dick, sounds like Murphy made your tractor. At least, you got your trash and stuff burned - that can accumulate into a big pile soon enough. We did get some cold lows here the past couple of days, though I didn’t hear if they were records or not. Oh, thanks for the fill-in on the EB history. I’d heard that the eggs for Easter, came about as a sign of fertility and spring (pre-Christian, of pagan origin).Lee, I guess the Ohio DOT figured that the snow season was over... LOL Or did they run out of salt, like some cities have when the snow season runs long?DerJohn, you do good work with some cardboard boxes - those look really top notch! (Should look even better in styrene) Was the recessed loading dock very hard to make on that one building?Sue, love your backdrop (and the scenery in front of it, too! I like the looks of the MDC Shays (have a two-truck one myself, though I got the RTR version - don’t totally trust my skills on assembling the MDC kits). Your Shay looks great. Tell Larry I said so, too! RT, take care of yourself and fill in your cardiologist on all of what’s been happening. (No secrets, in other words) If you have to scale back on your work or change jobs, do what’ll keep you around a long while.
PC, where've you been hiding? We need you back in the Diner more...
Blessings, and a Happy Easter to all,Jim in Cape Girardeau
Jim,
I'm right here letting you buy me dinner!

Learn something every day!
I know, my easter bunny was kind of risque', but it was kind of funny too!
Evening Gang: Well today was a MRR day. I spent quite a bit of time in the basement working on the Sunday Lake Mine. I got the base trusses assembled and the hoppers put together. Bothe jobs took some time but came out all right. I also got some cleaning up and putting away done on the workbench. I'm still trying to pick up the cat hair from a couple of years ago. The 33inch N gauge wheels scale out to 18 inches in HO. They willl be just right for the mine cars for the mines. Several years ago I bought a complete display of Plastruct shapes. That's the one you see in the LHS. It has really paid for itself by me not having to run to the lhs everytime i need something that I hadn't planned on. When I'm scratch building something I don't know for sure what I may need so I can just look through the stock and I'll find what I need. One trip into Ft. Worth can cost so I save that way.
Mary Ann used her new stove to fix the turkey. It turned out pretty good. She had a bit of a time figuring out how to work the electronic controls for the oven but she got it. John's wife was released from the hospital this afternoon. I'm sure that she is glade to be home. I know that the cat will be happy.
Well I guess I'll head for bed.
Good Night All

Mornin you got any brains n eggs back there Zoe, good I'll have a double order n coffee,
28 out under partly cloudy skies, Easter was ok yesterday other than cold and the kids had a good time gathering eggs. #3 son was laate geting there, some body stole his 2 day old injector pump and chemical right off an oil well, had to wait on the cops to get there and finish. Guess there's been a rash of theifs round lately, one lease even had 2 pump jacks stolen. A guy and his wife [both state cops] had their house broke into. Heard a service revolver another pistal and a couple razzers were stole there out of a gun safe. Looks like er're going to have to start locking the house, which we never do, now. Here's some more pics of some well used cars from Palastine
PC, while you bunny wasn't x rated, it could have been y rated
Dick, 30 bags is about all Mother can haul at one time. If we're geting a full pallet, we drag the car trailer down. We plan on getting a couple -3 pallets in July, the dealer in Flat Rock said he'd makes a deal at bout $150 a pallet, we go through bout 4 a winter.
Jerry, don't really know any body down in Flat Rock anymore, where'd ya see the name on the baord at, may see bout finding him.
RT, hope the test and the doc visits go well. Best take care my freind.
JIM CG, the cleaner isn't big enough for a car body, but it sure does clean a good job cleaning gears and wheels. Oh and jewerly too.
Got some time on the layout yesterday and plan on somemore after chores today [no kids]. Was going to work on it last evening after we got home, but ended up just laying around. Hope ya'll has a good day and stay warm

Good Morning All,
Just rushing through on my way into the shop. I'll have a regular to go please Zoe. Hold the donuts please. 30F this morning but feels much colder with the wind chill. Spent Easter Sunday at my brothers in Montclair NJ and met his brother in law who is a big deal N scale guy.(obviously the other side of the family right?) Large basement layout with three pennisnulas' (penninsuli ?) and over 70 decoder equipped locos. He lived just a few blocks away so we needed to go over "just for a minute". Very impressive. He's still building the last leg of the layout, but the trackwork was superb and worked as well. He's doing the NJ, Pa border area circa late 40's early 50's with lots of steam and 1st gen diesels. Unique will be the U.S. Navy blimp base with hangers and siding and of course, blimps. I hadn't seen N steam run before but his did flawlessly and the track worked perfectly as well. If I show my layout to anyone it always seems to develop issues but Johns' worked those out (of course he's been at this one for 6 years or so but....
Inch - nice pics again - you really have an eye for composition.
I'll try to catch up on the last few pages later since jobs are calling my name out on the shop floor. CUL,J.R.
hey guys!
Jeff- yes I did get your package.
Jim- thanks. I am an expert at finding bargans. the hobby shop that I got my newest piece of rolling stock at. sells the stuff at lower prices than the regular price.
ex. you go to trains-r-us and find an NYC 2-6-0 for $54.95.
Now you go to Ray and Robbins (name of the hobby shop) and find the same NYC 2-6-0 the only difference is the numbering. that 2-6-0 is $24.50
Good Monday morning to all...a clear sky here this morning, but a chillt 34F especially with winds gusting to 30 mph..brrrrrrrrrr. Today I need to get that old Wheel Horse re-started and round up more brush that was cut last Fall for second burn. We only have until April 30th to burn brush outside each year, a $10 permit gives us 3 burns, which is always enough for us.
COLBY: Where is Ray and Robbins HS in Maine? I assume it is up near Bangor or Augusta? Those prices are very good.
J.R. : That is some layout in N Scale !!!! Too bad you couldn't get photos of his layout. That is one serious investment!!!
J.P. : Curt put it all together last night, 7 strong innings and Pap finished the Texans off in the 8th and 9th for a nice 3-2 win. I', m happy to see that Curt got it together after the KC fiasco. No hitting again though, that bothers me.
JEFF: You were up early this morning, was it your turn for KP or was it too cold down in the Bayous this morning ...LOL
SUE: Time to get up on the West coast!!!!!!!! Ding , ding, ding, ding.!!
CAPE JIM: Any warmer there this morning? OK, get to work then, us retired people need your SS deposits.
MIKE: $150 a ton? That is a great price, $3 a bag !! Who is making those Pellets? Ours are made in Jaffrey, New Hampshire, the company is called New England Pellets. We have seen some here also from a company in Montana, they come in by rail.
