Afternoon, an irish coffee Zoe already had lunch, left over hillbilly beans n cornbread.
The reason the kids hadn't settled on continents yet, was because Server Pro and the electronics guy hadn't turned in every thing yet. They should come out ok on that, they had 55,000 insuracance there and almost nothing could be save. Besides they've already replace most of what they lost, [thanks mostly to the folks round here], so most of that will add to their down payment.
JR,, know what ya mean bout something breaking, from back when I did some racing or work in the pits on a couple cars. Didn't seem to matter what ya did before you got there, there was always something to fix before you was done.
I got a little time in the train room cleaning this morning, but I need to finish some extra chores. Mother thought since it was to cold to work outside much. She SUGGESTED, I do some inside stuff for her. After all these years togaither, I clearly understood the meaning. So, maybe I'll get to play some more laters.

Good to hear from Trent that health issues are being resolved. Cheers to you.
Ryan .....good to learn there may me light at the end of the tunnel on your family matter.
We're still dealing with a very difficult and troubling matter pertaining to an out of state family member.
I received more test results yesterday on my heart condition and they were disappointing. Earlier test results were encouraging, so keeping things in perspective........... I'll be okay.
Good news is this Sunday, two grandkids (out of state) will be baptised, and we plan to attend.
Some day, I'll get back to the layout!
Happy Model Railroading, everybody.

Well I just put ice water on her idea of moving as I pointed out no place up there would let us rent with 6 cats . LOL
Evening a barley pop Cleo, since I'm buying anyway
HEY RT, wish you'd look at my next post, you'd a seen that was #1 son's 4 wheeler not mine. Of all the days for you to show up, now all I need is PC to find his way in.
GARRY, hope your upcoming trip for the kids baptism goes well and any more news from the doc's is even better.
RT if the cats start finding new homes, your gonna be in big trouble son.
Got a little more cleaning done in the train room and I can see most the layout now, probably finish that part tonight. Even got most the honey-do's done, well enough that I'm not in dutch with Mother anyway.
Ya'll have a good evening, catch up with all laters, time to play

Dick - water/glue mix...as in 50/50 or a different ratio? I was trying to get a 'base' color applied to the foamboard before I went that far, hence the reason for painting it w/ a mixture of dirt/paint - for the appearance of a freshly cleared right down to bare hard/compact earth - kinda of like a freshly prepared area for a new section of track or right of way for the MoW vehicles and such.

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017
Good evening mmrs: Rain, wind and not very warm. Spring in Nova Scotia…what can I say? I’m decompressing after doing the family’s taxes this week. Glad to say that there should be a refund. Sad to say not much will get to the layout, as most has to go for property taxes.
I’m plunging back here on this page rather than trying to catch up. Haven’t done much of anything on the layout except make a card sleeve to fit over the newly placed box representing a 3 storey medical centre on the industrial estate. The green is wrong, but I wanted to have something to brighten it up. Doing this mock-up has shown me that the styrene version should have more windowless space at the end away from the door and stairs.
Chuck! Hope it’s a good one for you.

I’ll send it again without those < > things and see if it’s any better.
Well, I think I’ll go and sip a cup of tea in a quiet corner before heading off to bed.
May this Easter be a blessing to one and all.

Evening all -
Just a quick stop tonight...
Sue - yes, I agree. This way, I gewt not only experience in this, but also can see for myself if I like the way something is going to look or not.
Well all - I'm off to finish the painting of the foamboard. This way, it should be dry before the weekend ends and I can get moving to another area of the project.
Take care!
Evening Gang: Well I guess I over did yesterday. I slept late and have been tired all day. I gota remember that I'm retired.
Trent it's good to hear that you are doing better. You sound better also.
Chuck.
Sue: All our gates have chains and latches or locks. Locks on the outside gates. We had taken the lock off the gate by the railroad when we hauled hay and didn't put it back. It's back now. I've found that backing up the locks with a Winchester is sometimes necessary.
It was cool this morning and tomorrow it's supposed to be even cooler, around 43f. They say that it will be 35f or lower Saturday. I got the trailer unloaded and spred gravel then hauled a bit more to the road. I've got a start on the spring clean up day next sat.
Well I think that I'll get to bed before I fall asleep at the key board. Mary Ann is already asleep and Daisy is in her bed. So Good Night All

Now that is a lock that should work. I am glad that we do not have much traffic near our place. We have a shooting range on our place and try to make enough noise that people think twice.
It is sad that we need locks. I can remember the day when we never locked our houses.
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Hello Diners. It's been a few weeks. I hope everyone is well, I haven't had a chance to read the pages i've missed.
well since i've last been in, we've moved house and we are still getting settled in, but i've started to re-assemble my layout benchwork. unfortunately the room it's in a about 1' narrower, so I had to do some trimming. oh well.
I thought i'd better drop by, so people know i'm still here!
all for now...

J.P. : I would use a 60/40 glue/water ratio to spray on the dirt. Don't use a lot of dirt, just enough to cover the area and look Ok to your liking.
DER JOHN: It looks like we are in for quite of spell of unseasonable cold weather. The surface Low that formed in the Atlantic has moved into Quebec and is combining with the Upper Level Low. In the position that it is in, in Eastern Canada, it is called a "Polar Vortex". Which means it will sit there at all levels of the atmosphere and keep pumping Polar air down over the entire eastern half the country, all the way to Florida. Bottom line: Don't plant your Tomatos yet..LOL

Tomorrow afternoon us the open house for Deb's step grandparents 50'th wedding annivesery and then Easter Sunday at #1 son's house.

Good Morning All,
27F this morning and the high for the next week isn't supposed to break 50. At least it isn't raining or snowing. W..ked later yesterday but did get some more drops put in for the layout and base coat for the remainder of the lower section I've been working. With luck tonight I'll get the buss fed through and hooked up for a formal track test (instead of alligaor clips).
I see Inch and Bill have already been through, but I'll stay for coffee and one Bills' donuts. Good to hear from Oz Jim even if his (model) universe is shrinking. Just one concept to pursue Jim - verticlal expansion.
JP - i agree that getting a coat of paint/dirt on all the faom is a good idea. Typically I don't add texture to the base coat because I might have to scrape it all off where a structure goes. I prefer adding the thicker ground cover to specific areas and building up around the base of the buildings as happens in the real world. A nice coat of brown as you've done does wonders.
Der - We have people who do our taxes as they say on tv. The CFO and I had a very tense time trying to do them ourselves and with the business growing it just wasn't practical. But I still remember and feel your pain. Taxes here are really easy anyway. Line 1: fill in your income. line 2: send in the amount from line 1.
Well back to it out back. Fuel cells to fit and motors to install - it keeps you occupied. CUL,J.R.

My day was made when I opened the door today and heard the elusive Cardinal. Very rare in these parts and something Dad misses since his migration from Toronto some 10 years ago. So I'm seeing this as a good omen.
I'll be spending time on the MR today to tidy it up and clear an access way for the electricians so when they wire the Sun room they won't damage the MR (like the *^&#$%@ apprenetice electrician did to my Garage ceiling when he stepped through a opening and through the dry wall, silly git) I've already warned the contractor that if this happens again I'll be fit to be tide!
Anyway I have work to do later all

Well good morning everyone!
Sorry I wasn't around last night. I was messing with an old N scale Shinohara code 70 3-way turnout. It had a sprung rail and needed some jumpers soldered onto it. My soldering gun doesn't have a real fine point (Note to self: GET ONE!) so it was a bit like doing surgery with a machete, but I got it to work.
Yeah, it's still cold around here. Looks like the next few days will be wet too!
So what's up with you guys?
Any Easter plans?
Oh, and Happy Belated Birthday Chuck!
Yeah, thats right!
Step right up! It's been a while!
Chloe, you still got my credit card girl? Good! Warm it up! It's gonna get a workout!
Order up everyone!
The breakfast bar is OPEN!
Hello and have a pleasant Good Friday everybody.
I had a bowel of wheat bran flakes and strawberries. ........with OJ. terrific.
If you'd like to see my high speed train look at my post on the thread ...."anybody going to model this?"
Happy Model Railroading!
Good Morning, Zoe - Since PC’s buying, so I’ll have some scrambled egg omelots with ham, please, some toast, a big glass of Ed’s OJ and a cup of coffee. Nice breakfast bar, PC! I see Jerry brought his appetite with him, too! (Belated) Chuck! Did Kathy get you a cupcake with a candle in it? Maybe before too long, your weather will actually get back to spring-like, and you can sit out and watch the flowers and trees and birds ( - dodge, quick, Chuck! I was able to read the yellow type, but it wasn’t easy. Those darker colors work better for my eyes, though.Inch - know what you mean about the CFO’s “suggestion” You want to keep her happy. Easier to get the okay on future MRR purchases if she’s happy. It’s good to hear that the kids will still be getting paid for their place's contents. Jeff, thanks for posting your layout plan. Looks good, and I hadn’t remembered that you had sound on the layout, too. Good to hear from you, Trent, and that things are progressing for your health. Yep, I’ll be keeping you on the list. Have you been back to work at your LHS yet?Garry, take care of yourself and get with your doctor on what is to be done to improve your test results. Keep doing whatever you need to do, and we’ll keep you in mind with the Great Physician. Good news on the grandkids, and enjoy getting to see family there.Hey, OzJim - good luck with getting the rest of the moving-in taken care of. Sounds like Murphy’s Law came into play on the new room for the layout. Pooh! Well, it’ll give you a chance to figure what other changes you may want to make, since you had to trim some. How far along are you - last time I recall, you were putting roadbed down, right? Best wishes with getting the layout plan fine-tuned to the new space! Paul, nothing like a good, hefty Winchester lock, is there? Don’t forget about being retired, though - you might end up with another job again... That would surely wear a body out! Mark, hang in there - that Consolidation is coming... soon, hopefully!Time to finish up breakfast and get back to the paperwork.
But it’s (Good) F R I D A Y ! !Blessings, and a Happy Easter weekend,Jim in Cape Girardeau
Good afternoon to all, I see many are preparing for services tonight, and for Easter with family.
Can you guys believe this unseasonable cold?? It is only 31F here now when it should be 55F. I just saw on the Weather Channel, the North American surface map, and there is a big HIGH pressure system over north central Canada, that is pumping cold air all the way down from the North Pole!!! They also said that Global Warming is causing big swings in weather patterns which of course translates to weather extremes, temperature being one extreme condition.
CHUCK: Happy Belated Birthday young man!!!! How old are you now? 71?
FERGIE: Taking notes huh ??? Well, I have just added the word "Mess" to my spelling dictionary online...take that !! Doesn't that frost your nose when contractors have so little regard for the property that they are working around? I know that accidents do happen, but many times it is sheer carelessness.
How does dad enjoy his new digs?
DER JOHN, LUC & FERGIE: Get ready guys!!! There is yet another storm forming off the coast of Maryland/Virginia that is going to pass to the EAST of you guys this time, and it should intensify into quite a storm. Of course with all the cold air banked up around you, it will.......................SNOW........ A LOT OF SNOW !!!!!!! Saturday night into Easter Sunday........the poor Easter Bunny !!!!!
JEFF: You will not escape the onslaught of cold that far south either...so cover your plants.
ED: Cover the Orange trees !!
MIKE: Hey, those Pellets are 40# bags, so don't blow out your leaf springs trying to carry more than 15 bags in the car.
Well, back to the train room for awhile...see you guys for afternoon coffee break,
Afternoon all -
Well, the part of the experiment I did last night - FAILED in a big way. I made the mixture too thick and it has started to develop cracks in it. So, I just got done taking a plastic putty knife and scrapped about 99% of it off the foamboard (the mixture was still tacky, so it was easy to scrap off!)! Not sure what I will try now, but I will make sure that if I do the mixture again, to not add as much dirt to it. Oh well, it's a nice learning experience though.
Anyway, I am waiting for a call from the LHS saying that my 2 Woodland Scenic learing kits are in. I think that I'll slowly head over that way and in the process, stop by the railyard and see if I can get some 'action' shots with the camera.
I'll stop in later for some eats.
Well, it's Friday night tonight. I asked the girls (Chloe and Zoe) if they had the stuff for Pizza and I thought we could eat pizza and watch a train movie. The girls said they they have a friend who makes a killer pie, so they called him up. He's whipping out the food now and all we need is the movie. So, is it "Throw Mama From The Train", or do you have something you'd rather watch?
Oh, here comes the first pizza now!
Wow! That boy can cook!
Thanks for the kind messages from cape Jim, Inch, and others. Much appreciated.
Philip............ is that an Easter egg pizza, by chance?
Departure is early morning.
Best wishes everybody!
