Evening, I'll have a barley pop please Flo,
Just got done with supper, Mother fixed a small pot of hill billy beans n corn bread, sure was good. May have have to sleep else where tonight.
Thought I'd do this tonight, cause I got Leroy n KC tomorrow n Tues. Weathers suppose to be nice tomorrow, so shouldn't be to bad a day.
SUE, the big kids get help some, and run it even, but only if I'm in there. They think it's fun to watch train going 180 scale mph. The little ones just get to watch the trains go by.
JERRY, the train room now is 10 by 12, an addition would let me moer than double what I have now. I'm just waiting to hit the lottery to start.
Did go mushroonin yesterday and today for awhile, no luck. Most of my good spots are either no treaspassing or tore up by 4 wheelers now, so picking kinda thin anymore.
JP, I like the 1'st set myself, with the different shades.
When I was much younger, I built several street racers even helped on a few for the tracks [drag and circle tracks]. Think the fastest car I ever built was a 54 Auston Healy. We put a 78 Mustang 2 rack pinion steering [cross member n all] and the possy track under it. Then stuff a 80 Corrvette 350, six speed in it. Never knew hope fast it would go for sure, nobody was brave enough to get it over 168.
OK on the 4 WHEELER, it belongs to the oldest boy. He brought it and the yard roller out today. I did take it and do a little mudding this afternoon. With all the rain we had last night, it was to good a chance to pass up.
Time for a shower n bed, I need my beauty rest.

Evening Gang:
AH Fergie you didn't tell us what the locomotive was. How about that info.
Not much going on today. We went to breakfast this morning. On the way past the well site we saw on of the Shell guys there so stopped to see how the well was doing. It's down quite a bit. On the way out we found a bunch of spent roman candles at the entrance. It took us untill 3;30 to get the sheriff out to take a report. Who ever shot them off was only about 200 ft from the storage tanks.
Well it's getting late for me so I'll say Good Night All.

Good Evening, Diners!
JP, I'm inclined toward that darker paint with the dirt. You got me curious, too - you tried it with the white paint because...? Are your boards about 2' x 8' each? Trying to visualize how big they are. Good score on the camera, by the way, and nice trucks!
DerJohn, glad you weren't totally shut out on the LHS run. I can see what you mean, now that I looked up how your flag is. Hadn't see a pic of it for a little bit, and you're right - it is much simpler than our flag down here. Good idea on re-doing the building and having the road the same all the way back, too.
Paul, with it so wet outside, guess you can go to the train room! At least, you're getting the hang of naps down pretty good.
PC, that definitely sounds painful - ouch! How'd you do that, step down on something wrong way, or what? More importantly, when are you going to have your Dr. look at it? Yeah, yeah, I hear you about the doctors, but... You do realize that by putting that grass seed down before the rain comes in, that grass'll grow quicker - and you'll have to mow it sooner?
Uh, oh, Fergie isn't saying what kind of loco he got - That's not a good sign... You didn't get another dieseasel, did you? Say it ain't so, Fergie!
Inch has a new (muddin') play toy - better warn the neighbors to stay off the roads! So, Mike, are you gonna get one of those for yourself, next?
Sue, that tunnel and rocks look good, sun or no sun! Is that a log siderail on the bridge?
Well, time for me to head out for bed. Got to go to w**k in the morning.
Blessings and prayers for healing,
Jim in Cape Girardeau

Hey, I earned this thing the right way! I was trying to step up onto a large post so I could get a better picture of a train that was about to cross a small bridge in the woods about 40 ft. away. I was trying to get a few feet taller, but as I stepped up, my knee went, and I ended up on the ground, so I was actually lower then when I started out. To top it off, I missed the train! Then, for the icing on the cake, a cop car passed while I was laying there and he threw on his lights and spun around in the middle of the road. He came back and asked if I was OK (Very nice of him!), but by then I was on my feet. I thanked him and hobbled back to the car.
More importantly, when are you going to have your Dr. look at it? Yeah, yeah, I hear you about the doctors, but... You do realize that by putting that grass seed down before the rain comes in, that grass'll grow quicker - and you'll have to mow it sooner?
It's actually feeling much better today. It's still a little stiff, but I hardly have a gimp in my step. I actually can't believe how fast it's healing. I'm usually a slow healer.

I guess that I am at the top of the page, so coffee for all.

Jim, I am not familiar with that term, but here is a different angle.
Philip, It is great fun.
der, I guess a 2 ft drop would mean an earthquake or mudslide.
Inch, Hope that the grandkids had great fun. I am sure that the Quad helped in that department.
Dick, I will look for the book, White Cascades. If you go online, Cascade Tunnel Stevens Pass, you can see pictures of the area. There are pictures of the old tunnel that they abandoned in 1929 when the 8 mile tunnel was finished. Also has some photos of the Tye area.
Jeff, How was the street racing? Weather is always a concern.
Mark, I ordered an new loco on Friday also, the Bachmann 3-truck Shay. We will see who gets the best service.
Well, back to the layout.
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Good morning everyone, dark, gloomy, foggy, 37F, here this morning, and the weather forecasters say we will not see the sun until Friday...ohhhhh joy, I always wondered what living in the great northwest would be like weatherwise...now I know.
Trains and MRR Mag arrived on Saturday, so with this weather, I am going to sit in the recliner and READ.
Another person trying to either cross the RR tracks in the yard up in Fitchburg, Ma, or trying to cross between freight cars, nearly got killed yesterday. She had her arm severed and nearly severed he right leg also. Officials are trying to determine just what she was trying to do besides trying to be nominated for the 2007 Darwin Awards.
MIKE: 187 scale Mph !!! I guess those who DON't have grandkids can't appreciate what that means..LOL
Almost lunchtime.......whose tab are we using? What's for lunch/dinner?
Afternoon all -
Just a quick stop in for a Hot Fudge Sundae, Chloe! Thanks much.
JimCG - The board was 2'x4' - happened to be left over from the last layout I had started before the ex and I separated. I have another one at my apartment that I may 'experiment' with as well. As for why white, well, cause I wanted to try it out and see how it worked out. So far, as of laast night, I prefered the white paint on the board w/ the dirt sprinkled on top while still wet. But then again, the paint/dirt mixture was still wet when I took the photos, so I'm going to take more to compare the results after it has dried completely before making a final decision.

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017
SUE: Thanks for the info on Stevens Pass. I was searching for info last night, and Google had Satellite view of the Pass.....that is really some rugged area!! Have your driven along the Pass? Route 2 I believe?
FOR ALL READERS IN THE DINER: Get yourself a copy of "The White Cascade". You will NOT be able to put this book down. It is all about the Avalanche disaster on March 1st, 1910 in Wellington ( now called Tye after the GN renamed the little town ), when two trains where swept off the cliffside by a terrible Avalanche with the loss of 100 lives. Check out your local library too if you don't want to purchase the book.
Later,
SUE: I believe this is what you are referring to? Some great photo shots here !!!!!

Afternoon all!
Wife had some minor surgery this morning, so I'm home playing doctor. She's doing good though.
Hi Chloe, I'll have a tall, cool glass of ice tea if you don't mind. Yeah, Sue is paying for it. Thanks Sue!
Coffee and donuts will be just great for an afternoon snack.
grayfox1119 wrote: SUE: I believe this is what you are referring to? Some great photo shots here !!!!!http://microvoltradio.com/railroad/gnry.htm
Dick, Yes, that is it. Does the book take place while the old tunnel was still in use? I may try to model some of that old rickety portal stuff.
Philip, I must still be at the top of the page from this morning. I hope that your wife recovers quickly.
I made a trip to town because I was out of ground foam and got in some bowling. If I go north too, I can avoid going on Thursday and spend most of the day on the layout.
SUE: Yes, the book covers all the events surrounding the accident on March 1st, 1910. The old tunnel was in use, as the NEW tunnel was not complted until 1929, after more slides, and the tremendous amount of money being spent each year to upkeep the lines and the snow sheds in particular. The old rail line with all the switchbacks also were in use, as well as the siding and spur tracks at what is now Tye. The book also had pictures of what the area looked like in the snow at Tye and a diagram of the railyard, and building location including the coaling station.
The wife is working the voting polls tonight at the Twon Hall, so my supper is just about ready....baked red potato, salmon, peas and carrots.
Later guys,

I ordered mine saturday... and it also depends on where its coming from. Mine is coming from New Jersey, so I bet it will be here in a few weeks.
I love your trestle, btw.
Mark
Evening Gang: I see that Fergie is going to keep us guessing. So far I'd say it has 10 drivers so it could be another 2-10-2. Maybe a heavy.
I mowed the first half of the back yard and got a start on the back half. The grass has grown about 6 inches.
I also took down an electric fence that hasn't been in use since last year. I found out that I can pull "T" post with the grappel on the loader. It takes a little practice to avoid bending them but it is fast and I don't have to get off the tractor at any point. I pull the post and cary it to the pile and drop it. Then back for the next one. Real easy.
No MRRing today except to read my MR that arrived today.
Sue: That's a good looking log bridge. I like the photo also. It's is so very typical of logging railroading in the PNW.
I guess ready to go to bed so I'll say Good Night All.

Ooohhhh so close but since I have 4 of those puppies already, No...
Picked a Russian Decapod in Susquehanna livery and yes she's a looker!

It was just an out-patient thing, no big deal, but thanks for the well wishes. I'll pass them on. She's actually feeling pretty good this evening.
Good morning and top 'o' the day to all of ye. Gonna be slightly damp today and quite warm.

Mornin, coffee please Zoe
Got rain forecast for later today, that'll make it a long with KC stuck in the house.. At least it's warm again today, guesser's are calling for highs in the 40's and lows in the 20's later this week. If their right, it'll take out part off the fruit crops round here this year. You folks in the NE are going to get it tolooks like.
Went up to Paris last night, seen their starting to work the black dirt up on the flat land now. They started down on the high sand along the Wabash last week. The clay round here still to wet to do much with.
JIM CG,, not much chance of me getting a 4 wheeler, don't really need one. Besides Mother doesn't like them, had a few freinds n family get hurt or killed on them.
SUE, yea grandkids like them, Pat let Beth n Jussy got to drive it round the yard for awhile till he took it home.
DICK, I think anybody with kids would know what trains do at that 187 mph. They kinda get airborn on the curves and find the floor.
Those were some great photos, thats for the link
PC, hope the wife's still doing ok and yur knee ok now.
Had a good day with the kids yesterday, went out n and had some batting practice with Leroy, he's playing again this year, took a mowwy ride , even got a few miles put on the trains. Now if the rain holds off till after 5 this evening, shouldn't be to bad today. Need to get ta chores, hope ya'll has a good one

Hey all! Mornin'!
Nice lookin' day out there...for now any ways. Looks like rain later though.
And the cold will be making another visit too!
Yeah inch, I'm pretty much back to normal and she's a lot better. She goes back to the doc today, but it's no big thing. Thanks for keepin' tabs on us though. Been kind of crazy the last couple of days around here, thats for sure!
Good Morning, Diners! Zoe, I'll have one of those biscuits like Jeff's having, but make mine with some ham in place of the sausage. Yep, and a cup of coffee and some of Ed's OJ, too. Thanks, Sue!
Inch, hope you guys miss any bad weather - they're saying here that there's a possiblity of some blustery storm fronts coming through today. Then cooling off some on the backside of this front. It does look like it's gonna be heading up toward the Great Lakes (and then maybe come back down across the Northeast), so watch out, guys!
PC, take care of the wife (and your knee's healing time).
Sue, thanks for that pic of the log bridge. Cleared it up for me, compared to the first view. I'd forgot that part of your layout was logging, which makes that bridge fit in just right.
Fergie, good to know that you're keeping the dreaded dieseasilitis at bay! Had us worried for a little bit there. How's the layout coming, now that the curtains are hung (whatever color they are...)?
Well, need to get ready to go off to wk again today. Everyone stay safe (you hear me, PC? ) and healthy!
Blessings,
Yeah, I hear ya Jim! Guess I'm gettin' too old to go doin' things like that any more, huh? Least not without bein' a bit more careful!
Oh hey, Chloe, how about a cup of joe for an old feller? Thanks!
