As you and I are both doing that, might I suggest that we don't take our eyes off of them........

But hey, it's almost quitting time for me here!
Better pack up to head for home soon.

Hope it goes well for your enginehouse, Bryan - what kind of materials are you using (brick, wood, stone)? You know we're gonna want to see some pics once you get further along/done...
Had a pretty savage thunderstorm come through a while ago and my trailer took a direct hit. It sounded like a bomb going off! The only damage done was it blew the end off the TV cable out on the pole. All the rest of the energy went to ground. The way my trailer is grounded, the lightning just skins around the outside and goes right to the grounding rods which are all seven feet apart from each other. Guess I need to redo the ground on the cable line. I trimmed the end of the cable back, put a new tip on it and I'm back on-line.

Chloe, Get me a Coke, a pie for PC, and a straight jacket for whoever wanted to post 6+ times in a row... Wait, he's paying, never mind. Get PC 10 pies instead... I'm not paying. The new guy is.

Jeff,
I'm glad you got your Mtv working again.
It seems the same weather system that caused you havok is poised to create the same kind of problems to those in the St. Louis area sometime late tonight and in Indy/Chicago tomorrow. Severe t-storms, hail and tornados are expected as this system makes it's way North along the Mississippi Valley. To those in it's path, a word of caution.
I'll have a cheese danish and a cup of mud.

Yeah, I work in the service dept. at the phone company in Indianapolis. Guess how much I want to call in sick tomorrow!

Hi all,
I can't stay long as work calls.
I'll have two par-boiled caraway seeds on toast and a cup of swamp water.
Jeffery, I'm really glad to hear you survived that big blow. Boy how I hate the wind and yet we don't get those kind of winds very often. You should move up here to the Great White North and I'll teach you how to Snowmobile. We would have a blast.
Have a great evening everyone and I'll check back later.

A spectacular day weather wise, bright sun all day, and little wind, mild temps. Was able to complete 4 of 5 major outdoor tasks including turning over the compost bins. It smells like silage out there now!
Sue
der, I am so jealous of all that space.
JR
Der - The rocks are looking very good indeed. It all seems to be coming together for you.
Matt to the Diner. Hope you like it here. What’s creepy is that it says you joined tomorrow. Top of Page means you pay for all the orders in the Diner for that page. However, since you’re new, I guess Derrick will have to ante up
Jeff: Good thing that cable didn’t bring in any of the lightning to your PC! That would be some surge! You seem to get more than your fair share of lightning strikes on that trailer!
It’s not that late, but I think I’ll call it a day. All, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort and peace.

Evening Gang: Not much going on here. I ran the 7.5 diesel today. The power steering fluid i put in the cylinder and let soak seems to have worked. It smoked a bunch at first and gradually stopped. Now I'm going to run it regular and give it a shot of fresh fuel and a bitof top oil. I'll add stable to the gas also.
Mary Ann and I went out for diner. It's our 38th annaversary. We've been through a bunch of ups and downs in the last 38 years and we are still totally in love.
Well I think that I'll head for bed.
Good Night All

Good Evening All,
A nice glass of Cabernet is in order I think. Finished packing for Watkins Glen and all that's left is to load the cars tomorrow and I'm off. Just so ya'll don't think I've completely neglected the rails for the pavement, here's a couple of grab shots from Topeka.

Cool, tall glass of water is all, please & thanks.
***Jeffrey, lightning sure can be exciting. Glad your' place was set up to deal with it and that no real harm was done.
***GMT/JR...cool loco photos. I really enjoyed them.
Looooong hard day from sunrise to well into the night. With the tractor loader being out for need of some welding, had to do everything manually. Gutters & tanks are ready. Moved all the water troughs from the barn (where the new gutters are now) and placed them in other locations around the farm to catch more rain water. Will be some quick work to do when it does finally start raining, after which I can kick back and watch.
Hope everyone is doing well. Rob
Good morning ! from Indiana.

Good Morning, Diners! Zoe, a cup of the TH
please, and a blueberry bagel.
Thanks!
I think the storm has moved through here and it should be gone now (I hope) - got awakened around 3 something by wind outside, so turned on the TV to see the local radar. Nice oranges and dark oranges on the radar, no tornado reports, but then soon after the TV signal and then power both went out. So I went back to bed. I think the power came back on around 4:30-something. I reset the alarm clock and went back to bed. Reset the microwave clock and let the VCR tuner re-find the broadcast channels after I got up at 6. I'll get around to setting the clock on the stereo and on the VCR this evening, as those take more doing.
We got a bit less than 2 and 1/2 inches of rain yesterday - not sure how much we got after midnight, but could've been another couple of inches from the sounds of it. It's 74 F this morning, and supposed to hit low 80's (F) today, and windy the next couple of days.
Sorry for forgetting to you to the Diner, Matt. What kind of MRR'ing are you into (starting or have a layout? modeling a particular RR? time period? etc., etc....)? We're a curious but friendly bunch in here (as opposed to some of the other forums outside the Diner).
Inch, give our congrats to Grandpa Jim and to Rachel on the new young'un!
'bout time for me to head out for now. See everyone later!

So whats up with the weather in your neck of the woods?
Interesting!
Just lots of nasty storms around here!
Philip: Looks like you're getting some of the weather I was getting yesterday. Enjoy.
Colby: Better look out, it's heading your way.
in a ATSF mug, please & thank you.
"IT'S RAINING" Just enough to lightly water the pastures thus far. The barn roof has dumped 200 Gal so far into the tank, the house gutters perhaps 75 Gal. It's going to need to rain a LOT MORE than this. Keeping fingers crossed that we get a gully washer between now and tomorrow.
Nothing on the train front. Wish I lived closer to some tracks so I could at least see a live one now and then. Heading to a corner booth to drink my coffee before nodding off.

As always in the desert, COLD and DRY..........
Thank goodness I'm moving.
Breakfast on me.
Gotta go.
Good morning. I will have coffee and one of Jim's bagels with lots of cream cheese.
We have a wind storm predicted for this afternoon. Gusts should be up to 50 mph. Today is the day that I will pick up the calves. I sharpened the chain saw just in case I have to cut my way home. The generator is ready to go.
Jeff, Glad the storm didn't hit you too hard.
der, Looks like you have lots of track. How long does it take to travel the entire distance?
Paul,
JR, Great photos. Thanks for sharing. We will try find the race.
Rob, The animals are probably enjoying standing in the rain, aren't they.
Well, I should go hook up the trailer.
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
