Good evening Diners!
I’m glad you liked the stained rock castings, I’m pretty pleased with the way they are turning out. Spent a little time last night experimenting with colours for the ones representing up-thrust rock. After 5 different mixes, I’ve decided to use the very first one! That will be for the dark rock, but there will be some lighter rock mixed in too. I won’t be doing that staining until I’ve finished the tunnel mouth and its surrounding scenery that joins onto that scene, as it all has to be stained at the same time to look decent. There’s a wet weekend forecast again, so maybe…maybe….
Jerry I keep forgetting to thank you for the photo of your layout you sent a while back. What a neat set up that is! Really nice work, and you put my “workbench” to shame.
JR
I would like to find the N equivalent to Grandt Lines HO window and door assortment.
Ryan: Great looking plan. When’s the ground breaking?
Steve: Congratulations! Best Wishes to you andJudy. December will be here before you know it!
CapeJim:
I see you're working on a depot also, huh?
Just having my bedtime snack, so I’ll say Goodnight All, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing, comfort and peace.

I will just slip into the back booth and have a coffee, and listen to the great conversation.
Rob, Your drought was featured on the national news tonight. They were talking about the lawn watering police. I guess everyone is worried about running out of water. We also use the gutters to fill the stocktank. I seldom have to fill the trough in the winter.
JR, What time zone on the Speed Channel?
Jim, Missed your food choice today. Have fun working on that new gondola.
Ryan, Looks like you are going to have lots of fun with operating sessions. Are you using 3rd Planit? Thats what we used. Larry spent hours just running the simulator part.
Steve, Congrats on the wedding plans.
Derrick, Is your whole layout Las Vegas? Oh, by the way, I love the tire marks on the road. Very realistic.
Mark, Get to practicing your photos. I sometimes take 20 shots to maybe find one that I want to share. I enjoy the photography part almost as much as the MR part.
Philip, I saved you the last piece of Lemon Meringue Pie from our staff meeting. Sylvia makes the best pies.
Paul, Sounds like you have been working on the place a lot. If it is like here, we are trying to get all the feed in for a hard winter. I will be picking up my calves on Thursday. Then the work begins.
der, I am so jealous of all that space.
Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.

Good Morning All,
A regular and that frosted with sprinkles donut Bill brought in is looking awfully good.
I need to build replicas of thehouses abutting the railyard here circa 1950 hence the need to scratch build as three story plain wooden worker housing kits aren't real plentiful. I'd gotten some shingles and a couple of sheets of N clapboard but needed all the rest. since it's all donated to the museum I kinda blanched at the idea of spending a ton on brass etched windows and the Grandt Line stuff looks like just the trick with several sizes of the same sort of style. Here anyway, the first floors have taller/wider windows than the upper stories and this will help. All I need now is some time to get started.
Der - The rocks are looking very good indeed. It all seems to be coming together for you.
Ryan - the layout concept is really good. Lots of switching and still provision for a loop and continuous running. Nice job.
Sue - Speed will broadcast the entire 24 SCCA Runoffs one race at a time. We ran in G Production (Datsun 510 #29) I also have a friend Bill Goldkind who ran CSR and FA and did better than we did. As they say, broadcast times may vary in your area.
Time to pick up tools. CUL, J.R.

Good Morning, Zoe - I'd like a glass of Ed's famous OJ, cup of coffee and a ham, egg & cheese croissant please.
Thanks, Bill T.!
Just grabbing a corner seat in a booth for now. Have to get going pretty soon.
Steve Barkley - Congratulations on your engagement (and the approval of Judy's kids, always a plus)!
Ed, the way Fran's been cooking up a storm lately, we may need to open up a branch for the Diner SOTB so we can come sample all the good cooking she's making!
Have way too many posts to catch 'em all up this morning in the time I have, but a bunch of great pics - liked the city pics that were posted (by Derrick?), I think you've as many billboards as Bar Mills makes (I'm jealous)!
That S1 does look in good condition - someone must've taken good care of it at Cadiz RR!
We're getting some more rain our way today, so Rob and Ryan, you guys should hopefully get a bit of this once it makes it east past us. Hang in there!
Ryan, did you have to negotiate for the additional room for the loop you added? Nice plan!
I'd best be getting gone. See you all later!
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Morning folks!
Hot coffee for me too!
Garry, Rob, Phillip, Ed, der John, Sue, J.R., Jim, - Thanks for the comments and kudos on my new loop for the track plan! Any questions you may have asked are answered below...
Congratulations and best wishes for you both on the future wedding plans Steve!
Derrick - Nice photos again, thanks!
Garry - I like the idea of that S1 project, looks like a nice bit of work too!

Will that bridge be a duck-under, swing out/up, or a removable section?

Sniff....sniff.....I can smell that fresh baked homemade bread all the way back here in the corner booth....
Ed - I use 3rd PlanIT track planning software and it is great for the CAD and 3D rendering. In answer to your question, are you referring to the loop that will go over the stairs on the right side of the design plan? If so, the outer edge of the loop is high enough over the stairs to make head clearance for me at 5' 9" without ducking at all, so anyone taller than that will have to duck a bit when coming up or down the stairs.

[Ryan: Great looking plan. When's the ground breaking?
Der John - With the exception of the new loop section that was drawn in an a cross-over on the other section all the remaining track has been put in place. Original ground breaking began in May of 2006. Check out my website link at the bottom of this post for recent information on my layout.
Sue - Yes, 3rd PlanIT is my track planning software, and thanks again!
Jerry - I am assuming you meant Ryan's Steak House, since I do not own a restaurant any more....
Jim - No negotiations necessary, the space for the loop is all open area above the stairs. As a matter of fact she was thinking along the same lines....
Cheers,
Ryan

Nope, the line that runs behind the roundhouse and then crosses the aisleway.
Mornin, coffee for me, 3 chocolate milks and 4 doughnuts please Zoe.
Got some good news bout 6:30 from next door, Rachel had her baby today, so Jim got his first granddaughter. It's just a shame Fern didn't live to see her, but even in death, life is renewed it seems and hope for the future; and grandpa's still here to spoil her. At least her sister Martha and nephew got to see the new niece before they headed back to Florida today.
RYAN,, like your track plan, looks like a lot of room for switching moves and continuous operation
STEVE,, congrads on the engagement and it sounds like her daughter kinda likes you, so ya get the best of both worlds there
GARRY,, I'm with you on the computer programs. I tried one and decided a writin stick and paper worked better for me.
Sure hope the switcher project works out, would be nice to see it in new paint at least. Who knows, maybe ya'll can raise enough money top get it rolling on rails again.
DER,, the layout looks great, thanks for the pics.
JERRY good to hear Sally's doing good and she's able to get out some. Sure hoping she gets to come home soon.
JIM CG,,, the rain your getting is suppose to be up here later today through tomorrow. Guessers a say at least an inch plus in some areas from possible thunderstorms.

Oh the swing gate! Yes that has already been built back in March of this year. Here is a photo of the almost finished product (still have to scenic it):
Also, I created a tutorial on the Swing Gate Project too!
Just stopping by to give the Diner a 'bump'!

I knew there was a reason I liked you!
Good afternoon ...
More comments on the S-1....... Your interest has been noted. I'll let you know when you all can volunteer to come to Cadiz, KY and work on the project.
We moved here 6 years ago, and it was a year or so after that when I saw some mem repainting the S-1 by hand. I thought I would stop and meet the "railfans". That's when I found out the historical society "borrowed" some convicts from a prison to paint the locomotive.
Evidently, their yellow paint was really cheap because now most of it has washed away to expose the light gray primer.
It really is not feasable to consider making it operate again. It's too rusty and too many major components are missing. Much of the steel has rusted.
The idea is to build a replica of depot and the locomotive would be paked next to it. A suiable cabbose might be added. Inside the station would be an operating train layout.
