Mornin' all.
This is the last week of school until spring break. I'm gonna go to San Diego for 5 days day after Easter, so I won't be in then. Hopefully my 2-8-0 will arrive sat. after Easter, so when I come back I would have to wait just a few hours til' it comes. Even better, this week.
Well, gotta run to school now.

Mornin' all!

Looks like another fine morning!

Miss Chloe, I'll have what Jeff's having.  Thanks!

Hey, I earned this thing the right way!  I was trying to step up onto a large post so I could get a better picture of a train that was about to cross a small bridge in the woods about 40 ft. away.  I was trying to get a few feet taller, but as I stepped up, my knee went, and I ended up on the ground, so I was actually lower then when I started out.  To top it off, I missed the train!  Then, for the icing on the cake, a cop car passed while I was laying there and he threw on his lights and spun around in the middle of the road.  He came back and asked if I was OK (Very nice of him!), but by then I was on my feet.  I thanked him and hobbled back to the car.

More importantly, when are you going to have your Dr. look at it? Yeah, yeah, I hear you about the doctors, but...  You do realize that by putting that grass seed down before the rain comes in, that grass'll grow quicker - and you'll have to mow it sooner? Shock [:O]Evil [}:)]

It's actually feeling much better today.  It's still a little stiff, but I hardly have a gimp in my step.  I actually can't believe how fast it's healing.  I'm usually a slow healer.

Hopefully the commute will be better than my Zephyr. If it was like last time, it will be arriving about the 14th. Darnit.

Good Evening, Diners!

JP, I'm inclined toward that darker paint with the dirt. You got me curious, too - you tried it with the white paint because...? Are your boards about 2' x 8' each? Trying to visualize how big they are. Good score on the camera, by the way, and nice trucks! Thumbs Up [tup]

DerJohn, glad you weren't totally shut out on the LHS run. Smile [:)] I can see what you mean, now that I looked up how your flag is. Hadn't see a pic of it for a little bit, and you're right - it is much simpler than our flag down here. Good idea on re-doing the building and having the road the same all the way back, too.

Paul, with it so wet outside, guess you can go to the train room! At least, you're getting the hang of naps down pretty good. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

PC, that definitely sounds painful - ouch! How'd you do that, step down on something wrong way, or what? More importantly, when are you going to have your Dr. look at it? Yeah, yeah, I hear you about the doctors, but...  You do realize that by putting that grass seed down before the rain comes in, that grass'll grow quicker - and you'll have to mow it sooner? Shock [:O]Evil [}:)]

Uh, oh, Fergie isn't saying what kind of loco he got - That's not a good sign... You didn't get another dieseasel, did you? Say it ain't so, Fergie! Shock [:O]

Inch has a new (muddin') play toy - better warn the neighbors to stay off the roads! Wink [;)] So, Mike, are you gonna get one of those for yourself, next?

Sue, that tunnel and rocks look good, sun or no sun! Thumbs Up [tup] Is that a log siderail on the bridge?

Well, time for me to head out for bed. Got to go to w**k in the morning.

Blessings and prayers for healing,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Not much going on today. We went to breakfast this morning. On the way past the well site we saw on of the Shell guys there so stopped to see how the well was doing. It's down quite a bit. On the way out we found a bunch of spent roman candles at the entrance. It took us untill 3;30 to get the sheriff out to take a report. Who ever shot them off was only about 200 ft from the storage tanks.

Well it's getting late for me so I'll say Good Night All.

Evening, I'll have a barley pop please Flo,

Just got done with supper, Mother fixed a small pot of hill billy beans n corn bread, sure was good. May have have to sleep else where tonight.

Thought I'd do this tonight, cause I got Leroy n KC tomorrow n Tues. Weathers suppose to be nice tomorrow, so shouldn't be to bad a day.

SUE, the big kids get help some, and run it even, but only if I'm in there. They think it's fun to watch train going 180 scale mph. The little ones just get to watch the trains go by.

JERRY, the train room now is 10 by 12, an addition would let me moer than double what I have now. I'm just waiting to hit the lottery to start.

Did go mushroonin yesterday and today for awhile, no luck. Most of my good spots are either no treaspassing or tore up by 4 wheelers now, so picking kinda thin anymore.

JP, I like the 1'st set myself, with the different shades.

When I was much younger, I built several street racers even helped on a few for the tracks [drag and circle tracks]. Think the fastest car I ever built was a 54 Auston Healy. We put a 78 Mustang 2 rack pinion steering [cross member n all] and the possy track under it. Then stuff a 80 Corrvette 350, six speed in it. Never knew hope fast it would go for sure, nobody was brave enough to get it over 168.

OK on the 4 WHEELER, it belongs to the oldest boy. He brought it and the yard roller out today. I did take it and do a little mudding this afternoon. With all the rain we had last night, it was to good a chance to pass up.

Time for a shower n bed, I need my beauty rest.

Good evening people:  Not much mrr today, except to make an offer on a Kato SD90 with decoder by email.  Won’t know if it’s accepted until Tuesday at the earliest.

Dick:  Nice going on the oak tree felling.Bow [bow]

OK, what is the temperature of "cellar" beer in Britain? Any beer over 50F (10C) is "pee".
…Not wanting to belabour the point, and I hope the refreshed fridge keeps you beer behaving as it should; but here it is one more time.

North American beer is brewed to be drunk at temperatures like your beer fridge produces.  Try it above that, and it is revealed as the delicate and nervous stuff it really is; as you found out.

Brit beer raised in a low tech environment where a cellar temp of say 55 F is normal, can stand the treatment, and be refreshing as well as hearty.

Come on, don't tell me that after a hot summer day cutting your lawn, or bustin your butt and dripping with sweat, that a nice beer from the frig at 38F (4C) doesn't taste great
…of course it does!  It’s at its design temperature, and that’s my point, and why not my round too…what will you have?
Did LUC and Fergie make it there?
…Looks like Fergie was there buying another loco…he didn’t say if it was a d****l though.  I don’t know for Luc.  I didn’t get there until after 3:00.

Garry:  Psylium husk isn’t scary, and can be mixed into foods (especially SR Pie!) so you wouldn’t know it’s there.  Great stuff for what ails you.  Drop me an email if you want to know more.

PC:  Glad your knee is mending.  That sounded really painful.

Sue:  The highway doesn’t bear too close an inspection, as the method was experimental, and the surface bubbled in places a scale 2 ft tall!  I’ve since moved on to other methods!  It’s been there for some time now, and I may re-do it as I have to finish its extension onto the module that fits in the doorway to the train room.  Depends on energy levels, which today are low, hence the “Not much mrr today” remark.

JP: I’d differ with Sue on the results of your experiments…judging from the bits of the photos that have come in so far while I’ve been typing this. I think the last one looks best.  BTW, why white paint rather than a darker base?

TV in a bit, so I’ll say Goodnight.  God Bless, and prayers for al in need of healing, comfort and peace. Angel [angel]

JP, I vote for the white paint with dirt sprinkled on it.

I have been working on Aggro trees today.  I have the trees covered and decided to take a break before giving them a dusting of spring color.

Time to feed the steers so I will be back later.

Good evening all.....spent most of the day outside, as the temps was in 60's, clear skies, but clouded over in PM as that slow moving front that has stalled in the midwest has finally moved in for a stay...in fact, a 4 day stay!!! Showery, raw, even snow and sleet this week. Churchill still has -15F now up in Hudson Bay, so Spring has not sprung yet.

SUE: Yup, been cutting trees here on the property for many years, by axe back in the 60's before I could afford a chain saw. The worst time I ever had was a triple leaner comprising of three giant oaks, each with a girth of 24+ inches. The woods out back on the rear hillside was so dense, that there was no way I could fell a tree in the open. I thought that the shear weight of the oak would carry it through the upper limbs of the next oak in line....nay, nay. So I cut the second oak, and that one proceeded to fall into the third big oak, each of them leaning on the other at about 45 degrees. Now I am very worried because I didn't want my kids out here after school while I was at work, so I had to get them down. Luckily, both of the felled tress where leaning on the same side of the 3rd tree. This 3rd tree was now bending at about 15 degrees down the hill from the tremendous weight of two 80 foot giant oaks on it. I made a very small cut in the 3rd tree on the downward side to act as a hinge. I then carefully stood at right angle to the tree and started to make the back cut. I don't think the saw got 1" into the tree when there was a terrific split and crash. The 3rd tree went down with a roar with the other two trees, but the frightening part was the fact that the 3rd tree splintered 20 feet to the rear!!! These spikes of oak wood shot back so fast, that anyone standing behind the tree would have been speared to death for sure. I was very happy that I always observed the "90 degree to the cut" rule.

JEFF: Did you buy the compressor at Wal-Mart also? Or Micro-Mark tools?

FERGIE: John was planning to attend if Kris didn't have class.

MIKE: Don't go onto the tracks with your new 4 wheeler..LOL

SUE: The book WHITE CASCADE takes place not far from where you live. Tye, Washington. I believe that is about 100 miles from Olympia, up on route 2 heading through the pass?  This is an active rail line still I believe. The worst train disaster in US RR history when a huge avalanche roared down on a mail express train and a passenger train that had been stranded for days in the Cascades. Great book !!!

Later guys,

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! And the 2nd experiment - Mixing Dirt w/ White Paint -  this mixture was kinda thick and I should have used a medium sized putty knife to spread it out and make it more even than I got with a paint brush.

Just a quick stop in to post more photos of today's work! I decided to not do any of the Learning Kits and instead opted for the paint experiment. So, here we go....

Here are some of the 1st experiment... Dirt shaken on top of white paint....

Jeff,  Street Racing?

Oh yeah! I'm a street racer from way back. In the early 80's I was using a 68 Dodge Coronet R/T with 426 hemi, high rise cross ram intake, turbo charger and 2 4 barrel Holley's linked to an automatic 4-speed with overtake (not overdrive) and a split shift rear end. I'm not racing anymore, I'm just the safety tech for the team.

Ah, the days of yesteryears.  That sounds like my rock climbing. I go to the rockgym once a week; instruct leading rock climbing; and go climbing once or twice a year.  It's not like when I used to go every weekend.

Sign - Oops [#oops]Oh, I almost forgot my response.  We have a 41' Plymouth that is a street rod.  It has a crazy amount of HP (I forgot how much) in a small block Chevy engine.

I don't have much to say... I still am waiting for the 2-8-0. Maybe we could all take bets for when it arrives

Mark,  I forgot, how long ago did you order your 2-8-0, and where was it coming from?Confused [%-)]  It seems like it has been a while.  Maybe Monday.

Well, just stopped on for a quick second to check email. It's raining here and I think now is a good time to do one of my Woodland Scenic Learning Kits.

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010

I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017
