Here are some new shots from my layout, such as it is. This is HO scale.

In this first one, I was seeing if I could make a decent 'night shot'.

Same shot, but with the lights on.

Here I decided to turn the locos light on and "WOW", did that make a difference!

Same subect, straight on shot.

This shot came out pretty good. The loco on the right is an E7, on the left is an E6.

Another 'night' shot. Yes, that's a Union Pacific E6B you see there.

Here's one of my industrial areas.

A different angle on the industrial area. That's a GP30 lashed up to the UP E6B.

Birds eye view of the industrial area. The black cylinders on the left are something that can be found in about every rural backyard in the US. Septic tanks.

A look down the spur going into the left side of the industrial area. That's an EMD SW1200 you see there.

That's it for now.

Ryan,

I'll be sure to add them to the prayers....top of the list!  Now would also be a good time to find some good spiritual help for them as well.  Counciling is good, and should not be ignored at all, but the fellowship of like minded friends can do wonders for making one feel not so all alone in the world.

Cox,

I hope Sally is doing OK.  Take care of her and let her know she's being prayed for as well.

RYAN:  That is so sad.......it is events like this that bring us all back to reality of what is REALLY most important in this short life that we all have. We will add your request to our prayers, and may God's Hand lead them to safety and peace.

Good morning!

Please pray for our relatives...

This is a prayer request for those who pray; please add them to your prayer list.

We got this email from a dear relative this morning:

Normally I don't like to "gossip," you now that...  but I know you are total believers in prayer...   and some are really, strongly needed for Kathleen and her family...  help me???

Long story short Kyle's on suicide watch and they're getting him into counseling.  He wrote a paper that caused the teacher some alarm and she called Kathleen.  She's realizing everything's not "fine" with the boys just like they're not "fine" with her and that they need counseling...  ALL of them.  So she's trying to find some today. Personally I think it's a wonderful blessing in disguise - but only if help is found VERY quickly...

Please lift them up in prayer...  and add them to any prayer circles you may be a part of...  she won't make it if anything else happens... especially to one of those boys.

A little background: Kathleen is one of Monique's cousins and they did not fair as well with the whole Hurricane Katrina event as we did. Their home in Chalmette was totally destroyed due to the storm surge on August 29th 2005. And while they were evacuated and living in Baton Rouge the father/husband comitted suicide during the Christmas 2005 holidays. Leaving Kathleen with the two boys to care for has been more than a challenge, she has still not gotten over this horrific event. She has suffered from depression and the boys too are finding it hard to adjust. Kyle who is 17 years old is in high school and also has a mental disability due to a drunken driver accident that left him in a coma about 5 years ago. Kyle struggles today, but has difficulty learning now, used to be a straight 'A' student, now is happy to make a 'C'.

Please pray for Kyle and Kathleen, and their family, and that they will seek treatment and be healed by the hand of God and with the help of your prayers.

Thanks,

Ryan, Monique and Ben

Good morning everyone......very damp, chilly day here, 38F bone chilling degrees. The Pellet stove and the Wood Burner are going full out today.

The latest issue of MRR has some really good articles, for you guys that may not subscribe, either pick it up at your LHS, or local Library.

Looks like today will be another day of reading, more rain due today, and it is really too damp to go outside and invite a late season cold or worse. So, we will continue to read MRR and Trains, and get more done on the layout.

See you guys for lunch.

Good Morning, Diners! Zoe, I'll have one of those biscuits like Jeff's having, but make mine with some ham in place of the sausage. Yep, and a cup of coffee and some of Ed's OJ, too. Thanks, Sue!

Inch, hope you guys miss any bad weather - they're saying here that there's a possiblity of some blustery storm fronts coming through today. Then cooling off some on the backside of this front. It does look like it's gonna be heading up toward the Great Lakes (and then maybe come back down across the Northeast), so watch out, guys!

PC, take care of the wife (and your knee's healing time).

Sue, thanks for that pic of the log bridge. Cleared it up for me, compared to the first view. I'd forgot that part of your layout was logging, which makes that bridge fit in just right.

Fergie, good to know that you're keeping the dreaded dieseasilitis at bay! Had us worried for a little bit there. How's the layout coming, now that the curtains are hung (whatever color they are...)? Whistling [:-^]Whistling [:-^]

Well, need to get ready to go off to wCensored [censored]k again today. Everyone stay safe (you hear me, PC? Wink [;)]) and healthy!

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Mornin, coffee please Zoe

Got rain forecast for later today, that'll make it a long with KC stuck in the house.. At least it's warm again today, guesser's are calling for highs in the 40's and lows in the 20's later this week. If their right, it'll take out part off the fruit crops round here this year. You folks in the NE are going to get it tolooks like.

Went up to Paris last night, seen their starting to work the black dirt up on the flat land now. They started down on the high sand along the Wabash last week. The clay round here still to wet to do much with.

JIM CG,, not much chance of me getting a 4 wheeler, don't really need one. Besides Mother doesn't like them, had a few freinds n family get hurt or killed on them.

SUE, yea grandkids like them, Pat let Beth n Jussy got to drive it round the yard for awhile till he took it home.

DICK,  I think anybody with kids would know what trains do at that 187 mph. They kinda get airborn on the curves and find the floor.

Those were some great photos, thats for the link

PC, hope the wife's still doing ok and yur knee ok now.

Had a good day with the kids yesterday, went out n and had some batting practice with Leroy, he's playing again this year, took a mowwy ride , even got a few miles put on the trains. Now if the rain holds off till after 5 this evening, shouldn't be to bad today. Need to get ta chores, hope ya'll has a good one

Evening Gang: I see that Fergie is going to keep us guessing. So far I'd say it has 10 drivers so it could be another 2-10-2. Maybe a heavy.

I mowed the first half of the back yard and got a start on the back half. The grass has grown about 6 inches.

I also took down an electric fence that hasn't been in use since last year. I found out that I can pull "T" post with the grappel on the loader. It takes a little practice to avoid bending them but it is fast and I don't have to get off the tractor at any point. I pull the post and cary it to the pile and drop it. Then back for the next one. Real easy.

No MRRing today except to read my MR that arrived today.

Sue: That's a good looking log bridge. I like the photo also. It's is so very typical of logging railroading in the PNW.

I guess ready to go to bed so I'll say Good Night All.

SUE: Yes, the book covers all the events surrounding the accident on March 1st, 1910. The old tunnel was in use, as the NEW tunnel was not complted until 1929, after more slides, and the tremendous amount of money being spent each year to upkeep the lines and the snow sheds in particular. The old rail line with all the switchbacks also were in use, as well as the siding and spur tracks at what is now Tye. The book also had pictures of what the area looked like in the snow at Tye and a diagram of the railyard, and building location including the coaling station.

The wife is working the voting polls tonight at the Twon Hall, so my supper is just about ready....baked red potato, salmon, peas and carrots.

Dick,  Yes, that is it.  Does the book take place while the old tunnel was still in use?  I may try to model some of that old rickety portal stuff.

I made a trip to town because I was out of ground foam and got in some bowling.  If I go north too, I can avoid going on Thursday and spend most of the day on the layout.

FOR ALL READERS IN THE DINER:  Get yourself a copy of "The White Cascade". You will NOT be able to put this book down. It is all about the Avalanche disaster on March 1st, 1910 in Wellington ( now called Tye after the GN renamed the little town ), when two trains where swept off the cliffside by a terrible Avalanche  with the loss of 100 lives. Check out your local library too if you don't want to purchase the book.

Afternoon all -

Just a quick stop in for a Hot Fudge Sundae, Chloe! Thanks much.

JimCG - The board was 2'x4' - happened to be left over from the last layout I had started before the ex and I separated. I have another one at my apartment that I may 'experiment' with as well. As for why white, well, cause I wanted to try it out and see how it worked out. So far, as of laast night, I prefered the white paint on the board w/ the dirt sprinkled on top while still wet. But then again, the paint/dirt mixture was still wet when I took the photos, so I'm going to take more to compare the results after it has dried completely before making a final decision.

Good morning everyone, dark, gloomy, foggy, 37F, here this morning, and the weather forecasters say we will not see the sun until Friday...ohhhhh joy, I always wondered what living in the great northwest would be like weatherwise...now I know.

Trains and MRR Mag arrived on Saturday, so with this weather, I am going to sit in the recliner and READ.

Another person trying to either cross the RR tracks in the yard up in Fitchburg, Ma, or trying to cross between freight cars, nearly got killed yesterday. She had her arm severed and nearly severed he right leg also. Officials are trying to determine just what she was trying to do besides trying to be nominated for the 2007 Darwin Awards.

MIKE: 187 scale Mph !!! I guess those who DON't have grandkids can't appreciate what that means..LOL

Almost lunchtime.......whose tab are we using? What's for lunch/dinner?

Inch,  Hope that the grandkids had great fun.  I am sure that the Quad helped in that department.

Dick,  I will look for the book, White Cascades.  If you go online, Cascade Tunnel Stevens Pass, you can see pictures of the area.  There are pictures of the old tunnel that they abandoned in 1929 when the 8 mile tunnel was finished.  Also has some photos of the Tye area.

Well, back to the layout.
