HOOPLE:   STRAIGHT "A's" ?????? You "are'....."the" man !!!!!!!!!!! The best QPA I could ever reach was 3.4, and that was when I was 52 ( slow learner )

COLBY: Are you listening to HOOPLE ???

I was just watching the Weather Channel at noontime, more deadly Tornados down South, several deaths also. Texas, Oklahoma, SE Colorado, and more due this afternoon AND tomorrow. Wyoming is getting 58" of snow, so I neighbors in the NW are getting hammered also. I guess I'll take the sunny , chilly, 44F of Central NE.

Back to work over at son #3's house, see you guys at supper.

No less than a B? What is a B. I've never gotten one, or a C, D, or F. I get straight A's
Still waiting for that 2-8-0. Can't blame it, it has to come from New Jersey.
I still don't know what to do after I get my 2-8-0.
Since I'm 12, I like to save up and buy stuff... But what next? I have a couple ideas but I can't pick.
A) BLI Mike from trainworld
B) New drumheads for my kit
C) Another Cymbal for my kit (I only have 2)
D) Scenery/Buildings
E) Freight cars
F) SP daylight passenger cars
I can't pick. I never can really unless there is a good deal like my 2-8-0.

Good morning folks!

How about a grapefruit half, a tall glass of Ed's Special Fresh Squeezed and an English muffin... Chloe?

Okay! Now it's close to lunch time....so how about some Red Beans and Rice with smoked sausage!!!

Thanks for breakfast!

Had a bit of rain last night and poured again this morning on the work drive, we need the rain too!

We are planning on doing some flower gardening this weekend, and hitting the grass again too. Yard work is in full swing again!

Hey Lee, good luck with that one! LOL

Garry, actually the food here in WF is not that bad. There is just not enough fresh seafood around here that we were used to getting back in the Gulf region.

And as to your comment on the resume, that's just for the restaurant industry! I started work during summer months in between high school and college years for a tree service and lawn maintenance company. I started out in 1977 as a ground man on various tree crews, and worked my way up to a crew chief the next year. Then worked for a lawn maintenance company as a push mower operator, and then worked up to tractor mower operator the next year. I did this type of work through 1981. In college (LSU) I was in the Forestry and Wildlife program and I stopped working for a year and concentrated on studies, then I dropped out of LSU started back working again in 1983 with the culinary apprenticeship. Fast forward through the restaurant stuff..... And now in IT: in July 2000 to December 2001 I was a Technical Support Technician for Entergy Power Company with the SAIC contract. I worked at various nuclear power plants in Louisiana and Mississippi in the IT departments. Then I was offered the position as Technology Support with Emeril's Homebase. I supported all aspects of technology for the restaurants and home office of Emeril's empire. Hurricane Katrina resulted in my layoff from that dream job. I then worked for EDS with the Bell South contract for a few months in desk side support, and then we moved to North Carolina. Now I work as an Apprentice IT Analyst with the US-EPA located in the Research Triangle Park (RTP) in the Client Communications and Support group at the US-EPA's National Computer Center (NCC).

Duke, ORF huh! Well, I have a few more years left before I can say that about myself, I might be able to say OF for now, but not the "R" part for a long time....

Look forward to seeing you again weather it's in the spring, summer, or fall!

Diners:  Snow this morning, and a bleak wind from the northwest. We have the woodstove back on. The weather may warm a bit tomorrow, but colder again for Saturday.  At least some sun is forecast by then.

Luc:  That’s great news about Gloria. PTL.Angel [angel]

Der John - Are you still planning on going to the show on Sunday?
…at the moment, yes, but Kris is waiting to hear from the recreation people about her drawing class on Saturday.  It may be scrubbed.  If it is, I’ll try for the show on Saturday (my first choice).  I’ll keep you posted, if necessary by phone, as we don’t know when she may hear.Smile [:)]

Good morning everyone, colder here today as yet another Canadian cold air mass visited us last night, blew over the table on the deck with the umbrella in it of course...violent gusts of wind up here on the hilltop. I was going to burn brush today, but the scanner just announced that the fire danger is RED ZONE today due to dryness and especially the high winds. In fact, yesterday just north of us, on the former B&M tracks, a train set off a brush fire in Leominster, Ma.

Only 37F right now under dark blue skies, so when the winds aren't blowing, the late March sun will be warm in the sun.

I have been experimenting with "Glo in the dark" paint. I have a tripping hazard in the lower level of the house where you come up two steps from the former garage into the lower level rooms. This paint is supposed to "charge" from any light source, and glow in the dark. I painted the edges of the cement stairs to check it out. When I was stirring the paint, it was weird, the paint glowed a florescent green where the stick met the paint in the can...I hope it works.

LUC: That is real good news on Gloria, very happy to see her back home. It is amasing how even the little animals ( family cat in this instance) can sense human emotions and even their well being or sickness.

FERGIE: Glad to hear that things are finally settling down for you, a far cry from a months ago when not even the addition looked promising. Hopefully you will enjoy ( and your family) a great year of sun and no problems.

DER JOHN: WHAT????????? You didn't sterilize the soil??? That's it ....I'm calling OSHA, GREENPEACE, SAVE THE OWLS, SAVE THE WHALES, did I miss any? LOL

COLBY: What was your grade on your report? We accept nothing less that a "B" in the Diner, otherwise "you" pay for the next MONTH!!!

SCOTT: Watch out!!! She nearly hit you again in the parking lot !!!

DUKE: Mums the word (where is that darn laser level , hmmmmmmm, maybe under the bench )

Well, time to get moving, see you guys later

fergie ........... the CN 2-10-2 must be quite a challenge......... I'll be interested in your progress.

Not really as I am just doing a reasonable facsimile as it will be marked in MESS markings and be called the "Musquodoboit 500 Class" btw it's pronounced muscadobutBig Smile [:D]

The Oil Tender will have the deck cut open for the sound system and then built up with styrene and filled in with shiny large black ballast. The trailing truck has already been replaced with a more prototypical one (Bachmann K-4 type, bought 6 from Bachmann for $20!) and the cab has been replaced by a Kempton enclosed vestibule type. The CN version for this engine is a vertical front but the Kempton is slanted. Oh well it will just mean less wind resistance and more speed Whistling [:-^]

…Both, but the mixing in the paint was a total failure as the paint overwhelms the dirt. (well, nothing’s a total failure, I guess, since the mess did have texture, but it wasn’t what I had in mind.)

However, dirt sifted onto wet paint (I was using a general brownish latex on that layout) worked out not too badly.  Dick will get on our case about sterilizing the dirt first, but I didn’t bother, and no harm resulted.  I’d be careful not to gather dirt from an obviously toxic area however…and I didn’t try with white paint, but expect the water soluble material in any dirt would bleed off into the white.

Looking forward to your photos.

Actually Mr Wood, I had read somewhere's a few years back about 'baking' the dirt to kill off any organisms, etc. So, one day back in 2004, I 'baked' myself some dirt for use on the layout. And since that is what I currently have sitting here in the apartment, that is what I will use. I'm going to experiment with 'Flat' Brown and a 'Flat' White, since it will get the dirt anyway.

Well all, off to Home Depot!

Good Evening, Chloe - just stopping by briefly for now. On-call tonight and can't stay long.

Duke - the benchwork looks good; you've been busy! Thumbs Up [tup]

Luc - good news, and now keep an eye on Gloria and don't hesitate to have the doctor's number on your speed-dial. Will be continuing to keep her (and you and Bre'r Cat there) in my prayers.

Trent, good to hear on your progress, too (and will keep you in my prayers, also).

Hi,

BIG HUGS BACK TO ALL FROM GLORIA

She is home, her lungs appear to be cleared, her blood O2 level is back to nomal and the pinch never has worked itself out but she has bronchitus which will likely remain.  She has to get xrayed and blood tested every week for the next few months.  I feel better that she is home but I keep wondering if it is too soon...  The cat has not left her side since she got back in the house.  I think he missed as much as I have...

Again we thank you so much for your kind words.

Der John - Are you still planning on going to the show on Sunday?

Hope you all had a great day.

I have not heard from Teffy in a while, I hope his wife is OK.
I forward him the odd email thing, but tend not to do so too much, since I thought he was on your list.  No replies however.

This afternoon should have been more ballasting, but I thought I’d fix a problem in the track where the next ballast would go before I sealed it “forever”.  One thing led to another, and while the fix is done, it wasn’t pretty, and since it was on the outside of the curve below the upper level, you can see the spot here..…it involved using a mirror to see where to solder!

Time for bed.

I sometimes help to paint home interiors. One method of getting a low cost textured finish for the paint is to mix sand with the paint and just brush it on. Sometimes the sand would change the color a little but only if too much sand was used. It makes a dynamite textured surface. I used it in my own home.

Ok guys, here's what I have planned (am thinking...) -

Home Depot for some adhesive to secure the 2" pink foamboard to the plywood base; Best Buy for the Digital Camera for tomorrow's project; Mom and dad's for the 2 2'x4' pink foamboards I have stored there; then back here to work on the 1st part of the experiment.

I am thinking I will do 2 different one's since I have 'scrap' table tops - 1 will have white paint mixed with dirt and sprinkle more dirt on top while still wet. The 2nd will be w/ brown paint and sprinkled w/ dirt while still wet. Then from there, I'll let you all know when I get to that point.

Well time for some beers and bed.

Take care!

I used to be upset because they seemed to come when I was right in the middle of a project that I just could not stop to talk ( like sealing the asphalt driveway).  The last few years I tried a new tactic, I try to convert them!! I have a ball with that one...we get going into heavy religious background and history.

DER JOHN: Ahhhh, so that's where the infamous pink locomotive came from!!! TEFFY the tiger!! I have not heard from Teffy in a while, I hope his wife is OK.

DUKE: Nice progress, but where is the hi-tech level, I don't see it on the bench?

JP: That is quite a rundown on the big CSX accident. I hope they address the safety issues expeditiously, it could sink their ship financially if they don't get their act together.

Later, guys,

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Ryan

So Apex spring meet is just around the corner eh! Are you going to be making your way to the event for April?
I won't make it in the spring but the fall meet for sure. I have enough vacation time now but I have about four bike trips planned for the summer and that includes Apex, but hopfully in a little over two years I will be an ORF and have the time to do both meets.

Thanks Garry and I still have a long way to go.

Police Officer: That only applies to businesses.

Police Officer: That's a Labrador Retriever there in the house barking through the window and over there is a Boxer on a leash tied in the back yard, both have proper tags.

Jehovah's Witness:  It's my fault I'll pay for everything.

Church woman: We have really good insurance.

Afternoon all

Trent Good the hear you are getting things worked out.Thumbs Up [tup]

Thought I would let you see some of the progress on my layout but be warned, it is still a construction zone and it has been stalled since about January due to the situation with my dad. I will only put up about 4 at a time because of those on dial-up.

Ryan I haven't received the schedule for Apex, but I think the spring meet is the last full weekend of April.

That's about it

Talk to you later

Duke

Well now would you look at this,TOTP,so belly up all.
