How about a hot brandy to take the chill off. It's a little cool here today.
Weather for Leesville, La.
Wind Chill: 51°F

Sounds like a plan.
A large Coke and a 5th of Jack Daniels for me.
Joe...A hot brandy here please! And one for everybody that feels the need!
I'm not feeling 100% tonight, sore throat, out of sorts and achy..."Hot Toddy" sounds like a good place to start and a place to go this evening.
I've got a long week-end off, so I'm hoping to feel better, REAL soon! If so, I'll head for Whispering Wings (the cabin, over by Itasca State Park) to do a bit of duck hunting, keeping the fire warm and some cooking! All should be good, if I feel better....Soon!
I really need to take a mini vacation...I'm getting overwhelmed with demand! Shooting a few holes in the sky...And maybe a few ducks to... to put in the freezer (or eat fresh at duck camp) will be a good prescription for the head!
Then, sooner or latter...I can get back to the "real' world of the CCRY!

I believe I know that one, Mike. It's the one about the buffalo, right? Well, it's a good thing the buffalo didn't have beer, because they would have been so smart that it would have been them with the bows and arrows, and the settlers would have been hunted nearly to extinction. And remember, the Smoking Man on X-files explained that it was the influence of outer space aliens that kept Buffalo from winning the Super Bowl.
Yeah, I know, after a rant like that, I shouldn't really have another. Thanks, Joe, I want to be back tomorrow.
I heard from my LHS that my 0-6-0 is in. I'd have gone to get it today, but it was my little girl's last home field hockey game of the season, and the weather was beautiful, so I wanted to go watch the game. Danged if I can figure out all the rules, but our one great scoring chance, a shot that missed by an inch, was a one-time blast by my Annie herself. So close. Well, maybe next game.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Evening All;
I'll have a Scotch on the Rocks, maybe two if time permits. Well... it's been a busy week and I'm still not through the seven piles of paperwork on my desk, 3 projects to quote and enough issues in the office to choke a horse. Maybe you should just leave the bottle.
Anybody know anything about Howard Zane's book "My Life with Model Trains"? I'm thinking of ordering it, but it's a bit pricey.
GUB
Thanks for the recipe...I did get it in an email, after all...Was that the PM? Or did you send that out on a personal email...Which is OK!
Sounds like a good gumbo! I've been stuck (in the rut) trying to do a good gumbo and have now done a numer of them...That I like!
Jeff: Wow! Talk about rain!! I thought we were doing good (and we were) geting three to four days of rain and snow, helping with our moisture levels....You guys are geting a downpour...Hope it's not flood levels!
Just a few more weeks of swim team...than I can get going, as most of you already have, working on the railroad! Can't wait...
Gotta' head back to town...One more session at the pool this afternoon.
Yeah, half the fun of big-pot cooking is getting the aroma all through the house. That doesn't go for lobster, though. That's an aroma that's best left outside. And speaking of aroma, I could do with some hops and barley about now.
A few months back, I added a siding to act as a caboose track. I was never sure about it, because it faces the other way from the rest of the sidings in the yard, and switching in the caboose to the end of the train just didn't seem to work well. Last night, I was putting together a train. For a change, I left the S-1 on a siding in the yard and pulled the Alco RS out of the roundhouse to make up the train, and then take it for a spin. When I got to the point where I was ready for the caboose, the answer was right in front of me. The S-1 was perfectly positioned to go grab the caboose and tack it on to the end of the train. Even the uncoupling magnets were in the right place for the delayed uncoupling and then the push to hook it up to the outgoing freight.
I could never have done this without the wisdom imparted from a couple of beers earlier in the evening, so I guess I'll have another. A toast, gentlemen (and ladies, if any present) to The Caboose.
Thanks Jeff, that is the one I made at home this past Saturday. We ate on it for four days and ended up giving away about a gallon of it to the neighbors and some co-workers here. And then froze about another gallon of it on Wednesday. Of course the quantity can be cut in half easily, I just make it in big batches so we can save some for later.
Ryan: That's a very good recipe. I added it to my list. Thanks for sharing it.

Evening all, an old mil Joe thanks.
Not much of anything done today, to much help [Jbirds]. have been fooling round in the train room on a couple things this evening.
Mr. B.,,, the barrel thing and Mr. Burns sounds like it would work ok. Can't wait for a photo when it's done.
We know bout the EPA here. They got to the chemical plant in Marshall, finialy closed it down in 79. Put 800 [including the wife] people out of work. Even though the cancer rate was no high here than anywhere else. It's a grassy knoll also, but kids play soccer where they got the dirt from.
Think I'll head back to the train room awhile before bed, catch ya'll laters
inch
OK, who's buying? Oh, it's me. Got any Sam Summer Ale left, Joe? Yeah, bottle's fine. Thanks a bunch.
Talk about Mr. Burns. I got my spraying in outside, but it's getting dark and the humidity is creeping up, so I did some brush-painting with Floquil out in the mud room. Now, the whole garage stinks. I think it may be nothing but acrylics till the bugs come back in the spring. The fuel oil company is going to need a lot of Instant Rust, so I'll have to put that on over the weekend. I don't think I'll be quite ready for it this time around, though. Company coming, and there's a train show (local - club open house and some dealer tables) besides. And if my new little 0-6-0 comes in, well, I can sleep late Sunday morning.
