I see that this has fallen way, way down, into the depths of forgotten threads, but I have not forgotten it!

BUMP!

Let's get this thread back a'goin'! Now that csxguy is back in business, it should become interesting again.

Watched a couple of west bounds the other night with old conrail units man I like seeing that paint scheme, even if I do like the CSX colors. Glad your back USPSCXS.

George good progress on the layout cant wait to see it progress further.

Wellllll.... I'm glad this thread made it back to the front page again![^]

I don't have any new CSX proto-photos to offer (they aren't parking as many trains on the passing siding these days), and I've been focusing all my energy on a trio of Kato SD38-2s painted in my private road (the Iron Belt). I'll be going to a mini-convention of steel mill modelers in northern Ohio on Sept. 16, and want to 'pose' these units on Dean Freytag's layout during the tour.

Andrew, I enjoyed seeing the progress photos of your layout - that foam is great stuff dontcha think? Easy to shape, and not as heavy (or as wet) as hydrocal and other 'traditional' terrain media. My garage layout is almost completely wired now, I'm hoping to fini***he control [switch] panel by tonight.

thanks guys for the comments. since skool started last week I haven't gotten much done.

Ken- I love the foam. It's the best thing I bought for my mrr after dcc. When you get up here we 'll have to meet up. One of the railroads that's on the tour is near me and I have known the guy for about a year. It's a beautiful layout and I think you'll enjoy it.

Andrew, that sounds like an excellent idea, drop me an 'E' and we can talk about the details.

It's an SD40, number 4617. The cab is blue, and the nose is yellow with CSX lettering on it. Hangs around Cinci, but has been seen further north and south. Mainly does locals, yard work, and MOW trains.

Will- I think some engines are assigned to subs like helpers, yard switchers, and locals but i think main power is able to roam free.

Speaking of large engines, I saw my first Cw60ac (AC6000cw) last week Didn't get a picture or number but I did get to see it.

Yep, looks like it's time for another bump.

So bump.

This is just a little something I completed the other day. This was a Bowser 45' 100-Ton Coal Hopper, factory "patched"(note the quotes)CSXT. I made it truly patched. I taped over the lettering, and let 'er have it with black chalk. Sealed with Dullcote. The bottom was just some rusty areas and splases of oily-colored "stuff."

Enjoy.

Wondered where this thread went.......good to see it back topside. Here in Huntington I am seeing a lot of the new CSX paint. Mainly on GPs . I think it looks great. Better than the old in my book.

CSX runs right down the street I can hear them all hour of the day and night my 2 year old hears them too and will wake up in the middle of the night and start calling for them its kinda cute. For his age he is addicted to train spotting and will go with me for hours to watch. Once we were watching a train and the engineer tooted and waved at him made his entire day kept saying all day Choo Choo Waved! I like CSX and Norfolk Southern love the horse but I really miss the cat.

I finally had a chance to really browse throught the forum and caught this thread. I Live in Eastern Pa and grew up watching Reading, Erie Lackawanna, Penn Central and of course Conrail and CSX. I remember walking the RR tracks to school and back so I could save my trolley fare to buy candy and soda ! :) I live near a CSX line that is very active it runs over parts of the SEPTA R8 line as it leaves center city Phila. I'd have top say that at least 15 to 20 trains a day through this area, but whenever I'm parked along side the rails all I ever see are the ugly silver MU's of SEPTA. On the rare occasion that I do spot a CSX train it's usually a two unit tra***rain or a mixed consist of tanks and flatbeds with UPS trailers and they are almost always being pulled by AC6000s or a DASH 8 44-CW
I'd give anything to see an old GEEP or SD-40 roll through. :(

Yeah, they did tear it out. It used to be a B&O line. Now we have NS still running through.
