I think Ken is the only one with anything finished. My problem is a I don't have a camera or much finished. Give me a little bit and hopefully I'll have somthing to post. What I need to do is by a disposable camera.

This weekend I decided to build a new SD40-2 in the CSX-yb scheme! I used an undecorated Athearn dummy, added powered trucks(with out worm gears) installed lights at each end, and a bunch of brass details! I will post pics next weekend. Thanks for the answer Jonathan.

I still havent seen any CSX Layout Pics from any one, is Ken the only one with models?

I'm glad you love trains. That sounds like an adventure. I probably don't need to tell you, but, be very careful though. They aren't very forgiving of momentary lapses of judgement.

Ok, I'd like to introduce myself. I'm 18 and I live in Sumter County, Florida in a little town called Lake Panasoffkee. I've loved trains since I was little and I still do. Me and my buddy are always walking the CSX tracks that run right through town for about 2 miles all the way to Coleman landing and we turn back and walk back. Last night we saw 5 trains (heading north from Dade city and south from Wildwood) and that was a blast. Here's a leftover Kato SD40 that I self-painted. I would've preferred the CQ scheme, but I couldn't find any photos of the pre-Dash2 units painted that way...

You bet, Ken! It's nice that CSX and NS have left A LOT of Conrail ubits in Conrail paint. I'm glad they're not like UP, who has very few CNW and SP locomotives left in their origonal paint!

this got all the way to the fifth page. So I thought I'd kick it back to the front. A little under 30 feet of AMI roadbed was put down. It went down easy since 10 feet of that was tangent along the yard.

I went by Hobby Town and it was ok. A friend of mine there told me that Augusta used to have a trains only shop but it closed about a year ago when the owner got sick.[V]

I live within hearing distance of the line that crosses that bridge.

Yesterday I saw my first SD70ACE on that line. It was sitting on the passing siding about 3 miles from the bridge.

For all the trains in Augusta, you'd think there would be more of a model railroad presence there, but so far I haven't been able to find anything but a single hobby shop with a few trains.

SixAxles, here's a pic of the same train leaving the yard downtown (yard by Laney-Walker Blvd). That's a great place to watch. The yard was HEAVY on power when we were there.

We went in on a dirt road by the old Confederate Powder Plant. It parallels the canal and ends up at the bridge. There's some good train watching spots out there.

Augusta is rich in history. It was a good visit. Since you're new to town, check out the Augusta History Museum. They have a Georgia RR Mikado in the back on display (inside). It's cool how NS still runs trains down the street by the Riverwalk area. The old bridge over the Savannah for that track is very interesting as well.
