Charlie.   Our thoughts and Prayers are with you.    Try to remain positive.  Negativity is a luxury  not to have.

                  -------------------------

A very short film at Consett Iron Company.   Stand well back!

BR Standard 'Britannia' Class 7 70013 Oliver Cromwell Preserved as part of the National Collection, the Brit hauled British Railways final steam hauled excursion 1T57 the Fifteen Guinea Special on 11th August 1968 from Manchester Victoria to Carlisle, before being exhibited at Bressingham. The locomotive left Bressingham in 2004 for the Great Central Railway for restoration by the 5305 Locomotive Association, who restored her for use on the main line, emerging from overhaul in 2008 ahead of the 40th Anniversary of the Fifteen Guinea Special. We see the locomotive during her first ten year spell in action on the Great Central Railway and on a visit to the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, were she is seen double heading with a Somerset & Dorset 7F. On the Great Central the locomotive is paired with a mix of stock including travelling post office train, passenger, mineral, engineers and also the lines breakdown crane. We also see the locomotive on the main line on the East Coast Main Line, departing Kings Cross and heading north of Finsbury Park, plus arriving into London Victoria with a special for the Girl Guides.

BR 70013 Oliver Cromwell has done many a tour over Shap bank ,Beattock and the Settle and Carlisle line so with her ticket up for a while a short video shows some of her good runs . Two clips showing 70013 on Great Britain 3 are taken from a DVD hence the poor quality .

Have a good day.

OK Folks here is a short video showing the railroad crossing signal controlled by the arduino I programmed while at southern command,  I said gates when menaing bells.

MLC, that's a neat project.  As I mentioned one time, that's something I want to learn.   An Arduino beginner set is on my Christmas list.  Maybe after the first of the year I can get started learning.

I suggest watching this guys Arduino tutorials

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfYfK0tzHZTpNFrc_NDKfTA

Even though I knew some arduino programming ( it is almost C++ language which I have progammed some) I have been watching his tutorials and learning more. I am on ep 20. I don't have the kit he has but I follow along.

Well...

Yesterday I made the final trip to the dentist for all the repair work that began a few months ago. All done there, no follow ups.

Last month my doctor was satisfied that my health is fine.

A couple of months ago I got new glasses and an "all good" from the eye doctor.

The final contractor work was completed on the house last week.

I honestly think that all my "must get dones" from when I retired are taken care of and I do not have any irons in the fire right now.

"Clean and green", I can move full speed on the house... I am so excited!

I know right where to go look for this building!

I'm pretty sure this is the "old" yard office:

Note the footbridge common to both views. You have to go out Pig's Eye Lake Road to Shop Road and go past the roundhouse Big Smile

Kevin, I had some of those DVDs in my collection. I thinned most out and gave them to Dee Ann's nephews other than Accidental Tourist (Geena Davis again Cool) I love that movie.

Good Luck, Ed

I'll apologize to David if he has already posted this.

I just saw this on a different thread, and I don't remember seeing it in our diner's visit to England.   This is an impressive video:

Good afternoon from an overcast West Coast where it is a pleasant 12c.

The cabinet installer was here all day yesterday, that guy is so meticulous it makes me shake my head in amazement. I watched the installers at a friends house put in an Ikea kitchen and they had it banged in and left in no time. This guy made a complete mock-up out of the same material for the hood fan cover and then took it down to take to the shop where they are to make the real one. I thought it was the real one.Surprise

D & H 35508 you see in the photo survived and is now doing what?

Kevin, glad things are settling down for you, I can't wait to say the same.

TF, don't get arrested trying to get that pic.Laugh

Charlie, maybe get some counselling for your wife. They are advertising that is available to anyone who thinks they need it here, just call and set it up. Understanding and being knowledgable goes along way to relieving anxiety.

Vaccinations are going ahead full throttle here at one of our friend's hospitals, they said over 5000 hospital workers were vaccinated yesterday, that makes me feel better.

Duty calls sooooo, all the best to all, stay well.

I was grounded today!

I haven't been grounded since I was 13 years old!  It almost felt kind of good with a little discipline structure back in my life! Laugh

Judy had the day off with me and wanted me to spend the day uninterrupted with her.

She insisted I would not go on the model railroad Forum today

I sneaked this little post while she was in the can to let you guys know of my peculiar absenceLaughLaughLaughWhistling

I just ordered my engine for Christmas the wife wanted me to. Any guesses?  We have been so busy with the kitchen, puppies and In-laws, plus covid makes this Christmas a real bust.

I sent photos to the in-laws of the kitchen a while back as I thought they might be interested in seeing things progress. The MIL suffers from Alzheimer's and had a meltdown when she saw the photos thinking something horrible had happened to us. Just can't win sometimes.

That's a good idea Brent because I had no appetite when we stopped at McDonald's today which we never do!

The thought was a Filet-O-Fish and I said heck No!  I'm getting a Big Mac and I haven't had one of those things for about 15 years.

My stomach's going gurgle gurgle gurgle and so is hers.  I  have a problem with that one mistake today and so does sheIndifferentLaugh

Good Evening,

Thanks for all the kind thoughts on my wife. She has been seeing a therapist for 3 years now and was making progress until covid.

Yesterday we calld 911 as she was having some heart issues, We called Healthlinks and the nurse thought it should be checked. The paramedics were here in 5 minutes. All checked out ok but she had to go to the hospital for blood work. That is the last place someone with extreme anxieety wants to be with the covid situation. We got home about 4a.m. and now my wife can't sleep in th bedroom as it might be contaminated despite athorough cleaning. Being in the hospital has caused a major reaction. We are under quarantine now, her upstairs, me down.

Dave, yes to Lindt!  We often buy their bars and no fighting as I like mikk chicolate and she likes dark. Ialso like Cadbury milk chocolate.

Time for a glass of red wine.

Every now ant then I check the discount aisle at my grocery store and find some deals on Lindt, Ghiradelli and sometime Godiva. Cadbury was once excellent but seems to have dropped a notch or two lately. (Made by Hershey in the USIck!)

Cadbury was once owned by Pfizer. We could have had chocolate-flavored vaccine Smile

We have been looking at the varieties at Aldi and found some very good chocolates from Germany, Austria and Bavaria at very reasonable prices. Cookies, too!

Sometimes when I'm feeling "flush" I'll put an order in to See's Candy in California.  That stuff is good but it will hit your wallet a bit!

I wish you well on your situation, Charlie. I have a friend and former coworker that went through a similar thing. It was the September, 11 disaster that she couldn't deal with.

Best wishes to all —

Cheers, Ed

Ah yes!  I get chocolates from a shop in Canandaigua, NY that is just fantastic!  Everything is made in the shop and is world class.  Just bought a 2lb. box of chocolates for my lady friend, 10, 1/4 lb bags of various chocolate barks to hand out to family, and a chunk of fresh made Maple Walnut Fudge to let me be "bad" as well....  Set me back $100 it did.  Worth every penny!

Prayers going out to those who are having various things to worry about at the moment!  Tomorrow I am supposed to go for a walk at a large mall in Victor, NY with a certain lady.  We are getting a major Nor'easter tonight.  Already over 2" of sn*w on the ground and it is supposed to keep it up all night and we may 9" of it on the ground by tomorrow morning.  I have not yet gotten sn*w tires for the Tesla and have never driven it yet in slippery conditions.  I will also likely have to spend a couple hours out clearing the driveway of the "stuff".  Doubt I will make the drive to Victor for the walk.  She would have about 2/3rds as far to drive as I will but Rochester area is not supposed to get quite as much.  I most likely will call her and cancel (postpone) the get together.  Monroe and Ontario Counties are having major spikes in Virus Cases and are calling for everyone to forgo get togethers anyway, so......  Rats!!!  Hospitals are getting filled up and things are not in control.  Mostly from people ignoring the risks over Thanksgiving......

Do stay safe and well out there my friends!

I lost my smartphone once

It fell out of my shirt pocket and hid itself in the accumulative tools on the floor in my back seat of the work truck Mike

I think for a day I kind of enjoyed its disappearance before I started to try and track it downLaugh

I started using Judy's phone to call it while I was looking for it and I finally heard it ring when I found it.

I did not suffer any cell phone withdrawals during that time but had to make a call

Good evening all.

No forum tomorrow means more workout/train time.

I think our counters are coming tomorrow so I will be able to get the sink in which will be so nice as I have been doing dishes in our little bar sink and that is a real pain. I did the plumbing already so it should not take long to hook up. Oh ya, our new tap is not here, but it is supposed to come tomorrow, so maybe.Hmm

We got a nice compliment from the nurse in the post-surgery ward when my wife went to pick up my daughter. The nurse said, "I never wanted kids but if I thought they would have turned out like your daughter, I would have had a bunch of them".Smile My daughter is a whole lot of alright, we are so lucky. She got A+ straight across the board in the first term, we are so proud of her. It looks like she is heading towards medicine, likely in a specialized field.

Ray, stay safe tomorrow, there are lots of other days ahead to hang with the lady. This add reminded me of you. Thinking back to what you overcame on your journey to better health. I was quietly cheering for you the whole time.

The inconvenience of no water for a while and how everything is falling into place now sure will be appreciated soon!

I'm happy for you twoYes

Or should I say you three.  You ought to be very proud of your Daughter and I am so glad she is okay!
