Good Morning —
BATMANTF, the new building is not Calgary, but good guess. I'll wait a while longer for Ed to chime in, Ed knows everything.
Thanks for the vote of confidence, Brent!
I'll have to concede on this one. CP sure has some nifty, award-winning, new structures! The days of the ratty, old yard offices are long gone!

I haven't kept up with the comings-and-goings of CP as of late and I'm not a Facebooker.

Coffee Time.

Enjoy.
Big John Wayne was having a couple of beers in a local saloon. When he came out he was dismayed to find his horse had disappeared.
He shouted to some of the locals at the top of his voice :
"I'M GONNA GO BACK INTO THAT BAR FOR ONE MORE BEER. I'LL BE OUT IN 5 MINUTES AND IF MY HORSE IS NOT HERE, WHAT HAPPENED IN ARIZONA IS GONNA HAPPEN HERE ALL OVER AGAIN".
He goes back into the saloon, and good as his word comes out in 5 minutes. His horse is back in its place.
As he mounts the horse, one of the locals asks : Say John, what happened in Arizona?
"I had to walk home" was the reply.

David, I'm not sure what is so funny about the guy walking up hill with the bread. We have a hill like that in my neighborhood. There are homes built at the top and bottom but land is still for sale in between. We call it Cardiac Hill.
We are expecting and have shipped several packages via USPS. They are all listed as Delivery delayed date of delivery unknown. One was mailed 11/27. Are they putting all these packages in a warehouse?
Meanwhile the weather forecasters are calling for 6-10" of snow, unless it turns to ice. I'm interested to see if the local stations go live with news and weather all day, like they do in Baltimore when there is a big snow.

BATMANIf I recall you asked for something if you did 50 pushups. I am a trust but verify kind of guy.Laugh Do you really think I want to watch some sweaty guy doing pushups? Laugh Now bring on those new members.
Say.... How about if I get my Lady Friend to do the 50 pushups? I think she could do that with no problem whatsoever at 76 years of age! She has gotten back over to the YMCA Olympic sized pool and can use the pool for a maximum of 50 minutes (had to cry and beg to get that long...) Her current record at the moment is 42 laps of the pool in 50 minutes. 4 or 5 years ago she was going over and swimming the 2 mile event 3 days a week (72 laps). I don't think I want to pick a fight with her! LOL
Stay safe and well!

Good Morning,
Light snow falling today.
Dave, more great videos. I did enjoy the ones with the Two Ronnies. They used to be on TV here a long time ago. Likely was on the CBC.
Robbie got the staples out yesterday so we can get sort of back to normal.
My wife isn't feeling well. All this covid stuff is causing her a great deal of stress. She suffers from that at the best of times. I'm worried about her as heart issues run in her family.
We had planned on doing a little for Christmas but now that is likely off as I got too close to the mailman for her liking and now I have to wear a mask in the house and largely stay in the basement.
Guess it will be a quiet day as my wife is resting in bed. Hopefully she manages to sleep as she has trouble doing that.
Time for more coffee.
I see I'm top of the page, so how about some Tim Horton's coffee and maple glazed donuts for that real Canuck taste.
CN Charlie
Good morning from the damp West Coast.
The cabinet installer is back working away, any progress is good progress.
Ed, nice pic of the train, lots of power for a short train.
The building in question is located at St. Paul MN. Right in TFs back yard. I thought he might get it.
We just got the call that the daughter is out of surgery and will be ready to come home at noon. Times have changed, when my Dad had his Gallbladder out in the sixties he was cut open stem to stern and in hospital for two weeks. The surgeon said she had some weird anatomy and that kept him on his toes. We will hear the details at recheck I am sure.
Ray, sounds like your lady friend is a bit of an athlete even at 76, you better increase your mileage to 8 miles a day so you can keep up. One thing about being in shape is all your parts still work really well and BP and cholesterol meds are usually not required. Plus wrestling with the wife is like it was when I was eighteen.
Time for coffee #3 and then I think I'll mosy into the train room.
All the best to all.
Brent
"All of the world's problems are the result of the difference between how we think and how the world works."
Man Brent!
I missed it! Seriously my first gut instinct I was going to say Saint Paul when I first seen it. Something to do with the trees and the absence of pines. I still to this day have not learned the rule of thumb go with your first gut instinct
But I haven't seen it in person yet. I'm finding it hard to find things to do these days but you just gave me a mission to go look for this thing!
Now I guess I have something to do And I think I know exactly where to look
Thanks Brent
I was so excited about the building thing that I almost forgot my manners. Your Daughter is in my and Judy's thoughts and prayers. I wish the very best for her for a speedy recovery Brent.
I'm not worried in light of the Father She has. It goes without saying I know You put Her in good hands

BigDaddyOne was mailed 11/27. Are they putting all these packages in a warehouse?
Our local TV news showed the Postal sorting center in Cleveland with about two-dozen semi-trucks waiting in the streets surrounding the place making traffic problems for drivers. Another fifteen semis were inside the fence waiting to be worked.
One trucker interviewed said he's been there over 48 hours and he is still sixth in line to be allowed in. Costing him revenue while he burns up his fuel idling.
I just canceled my Netflix DVD service which I've enjoyed for more than fifteen years. A disc they mailed on Dec. 3 still has not arrived. I know, sounds petty but it used to be a 3-4 day turnaround from mailing in the DVD to having the new one in my mail box.
I mentioned several other cases of packages I've sent or received in the thread that disappeared. Sad state of affairs.
Bring back the RPO cars
Ed,
I'm not sure why, but our area of the country doesn't seem to be having any Post Office issues. I ordered some items online, I was given a date for the packages to get here, and all of them came before the date. These were all delivered by the Post Office.
The only ones slow out here are FedEx and UPS. I assume that is because of the isolated area of the country we live in. At least UPS is now contracting out some of the deliveries to some private citizens. Two of the UPS packages were delivered by a retired man in his private car who is picking up some extra money.
I would hate to be a truck driver in the situation you describe.
Howdy .
Ed .... I like the photo of the CP passenger train.
David .... Thanks for the videos and the John Wayne joke.
Brent ..... I would not hsve guessed the builrding was in St. Paul. It looks functional, but not beautiful. .... I like the picture of the old train on a bridge.

BATMANRay, sounds like your lady friend is a bit of an athlete even at 76, you better increase your mileage to 8 miles a day so you can keep up.
Ah.... yep! Her idea of a fun date is going on a 27 mile bike ride along the old Erie Canal path.... It is nice and level so I was able to keep up no problem. LOL She not only swims, but golfs, plays pickleball, and loves to take long walks.
BATMANOne thing about being in shape is all your parts still work really well and BP and cholesterol meds are usually not required.
Don't I wish! I will say that my getting in shape has big time lowered my BP, A1c is now 5.1, and the doc cut my meds in half for the diabettes. Unfortunately some ah... body parts need an Rx to work like it should... (don't ask)
BATMANPlus wrestling with the wife is like it was when I was eighteen.Laugh
Some sports we haven't tried yet... A certain virus showed up and stopped any hope for the time being. (grin) I'm an old man, but I ain't dead yet......... But see answer above.

My mail is working OK down here, but my Netflix is taking longer. It used the be 3 days as relaiable as could be. Now it is 6-7 days.
If it does not straighten out after the holidays, I will also need to re-evaluate the value of this service.
I thought mailing DVD's went the way of Blockbuster
I stream, but I don't fully understand it. I have a newer Samsung and I can go directly to HULU. My older Samsung, searches around for a signal and wants to show me a bunch of TV channels from somewhere else (Samsung?) I went through the list and there is nothing I want to watch.
I got a Amazon Firestick, because I have an even older TV that has an HDMI jack but not wifi. It has Alexa and all I have to do is turn it on and tell it which channel on Hulu I want to watch and don't have to do anything else. I can even ask Alexa "Talk to me" and she will.
Amazon also offered the Tubi app. Free movies and they had a couple Charlie Chan movies which where a childhood favorite. Politically Incorrect to the MAX.
We also discovered Hulu has Seinfeld. I was never a big fan. We watched the pilot without Elaine and the first episode. They were awful.
OK Folks here is a short video showing the railroad crossing signal controlled by the arduino I programmed while at southern command,

BigDaddyI thought mailing DVD's went the way of Blockbuster
I've got Amazon Prime, Netflix streaming and Hulu plus whatever is out there on YouTube, too, but there are still a bunch of movies that are not available on streaming. Probably licencing issues.
The DVD by mail service was only a couple bucks a month additional on my NetFlix account (I used to buy LaserDisks from NetFlix back in 1988 when it was just a little start-up) but with mail delivery what it has been lately I decided to forgo the service.
Yes, from what I gather the service levels are sporadic and localized.
https://www.cnn.com/2019/04/04/media/netflix-dvd-subscription-mail-trnd/index.html
Also, I can get Blu-Ray DVDs in the mail. Streaming is good but the compression ratio leaves a lot to be desired in picture and sound quality.
NetFlix has about 93,000 titles available on DVD. I don't know what the streaming number is but many times when I search for a title I'm directed to the DVD site. Not available to stream.
Thank you, Ed
MLC ... I definately like your highway crossing signal circuit you demonstrated. I'm glad you selected an authentic bell sound instead of birds chirping.

Our granddaughter who tested positive for Covid still has no symptoms. Son and DIL will be tested soon.
Also, my wife's cousin had been in the hospital since Thanksgiving with a bad case of Covid. He improved and was able to go home. His lungs are damaged, and it will likely take six months to heal.
So again everybody: ... Be safe, and stay healthy.

Apparently Canada Post isn't doing much better. According the the tracking information, the RDC that Ed sent me has been sitting in Toronto for nine days. Toronto is 30 miles south of us.

MLC, that's a neat project. As I mentioned one time, that's something I want to learn. An Arduino beginner set is on my Christmas list. Maybe after the first of the year I can get started learning.
BATMAN The building in question is located at St. Paul MN. Right in TFs back yard. I thought he might get it.
This isn't over yet Brent! I will get it!
I know right where to go look for this building!
I will go find it and you will see a picture of me standing in front of it with my arms folded together
I have all weekend with nothing to do and all weekend to do it!
And when I do post a picture back here! You best well better have a shot of that Glenfiddich waiting for me
There is literally hundreds of times over what is available from Netflix DVD than all the streaming services combined. I can get anything anytime... with the following unexplained exceptions on my "to watch" list:
The Young Lions (1958)
The Adventures Of Backaroo Bonzai (1988)
Cherry 2000 (1987)
The Accidental Tourist (1988)
Drop Dead Fred (1991)
The Hudsucker Proxy (1994)
Some Kind Of Wonderful (1987)
Class (1983)
Night Of The Comet (1984)
Montana Sky (2007)
The Night Before (1988)
Bagdad Cafe (1988)
Diplomatic Immunity (1991)

Note the footbridge common to both views. You have to go out Pig's Eye Lake Road to Shop Road and go past the roundhouse
Kevin, I had some of those DVDs in my collection. I thinned most out and gave them to Dee Ann's nephews other than Accidental Tourist (Geena Davis again ) I love that movie.
Good Luck, Ed

I wish you and your wife all the best CNCharlie. Your wife is not alone. Covid-19 is stressing a lot of people. In fact, I doubt that there is any reasonable person who isn't stressed by it. Maybe it's time to indulge yourselves a bit. I bought 5 lbs. of Lindt chocolate bars and truffles, most for stocking stuffers for the four of us, but the truffles are already out so I can sneak a couple when I need a sugar fix. Their truffles are excellent. Their flavoured chocolate bars are to die for! Try the salted caramel!
We sent the same selection to Dianne's sister and her two daughters in Vancouver. They are chocolate hoovers!!! Five pounds will probably not last them two weeks. Don't worry, they are all skinny people!
Cheers!!
