Grilled lamb chops with mint sauce, anyone??
I used to hate lamb with a passion, and the mint sauce made it seem even worse. That was until I was served some properly prepared lamb at a friend's home a couple of years ago. I guess whoever had been preparing the lamb for me before didn't have a clue what they were doing because it was always tough and very gamey. Our friend's lamb was delicious! I almost passed on it but they convinced me to give it a try. I'm glad I did.
Unfortunately Dianne is still not convinced that lamb can taste good so we don't serve it.

You're looking for a desktop, Ken?
I bought several "reconditioned" desktop PCs in the last few years from Amazon.
For instance: https://tinyurl.com/y2qhz8p5
I think I got a couple HP "small form factor" PCs which I mainly use for Decoder Pro and LokProgrammer uses but it will do anything any of the "big boys" can do. All my PCs run 24/7. I think I have six, plus a few laptops and three tablets. They are all on the same network and I share files between all of them.
I got a couple different View Sonic LED monitors. These are excellent monitors for the money.

York1 I agree with what you say. I just had to laugh when you said you listened to old music like the 70s and 80s. That music is too modern for an old guy like me! I'm glad that someone your age, with your experiences, can help another younger person here. It means much more coming from someone your age instead of old codgers like me.

York1Kevin, do you have any idea of how many railways run with a car of yours?
I have no idea now. I have lost track of how many I have given away in the past thirty years, Then there are about 75-100 decal swaps I did back in the 1990s, so each of those people could have painted their own SGRR freight cars.
Scale Rails of Southwest Florida had 15-20 of them that were sold off at their annual train shows.
My friend Ron in Naples had about half my N scale rolling stock (around 100 cars), and when he passed it all was scattered.
My friend Randy still has the other half.
There were probably over a dozen in hobby shops that have gone out of business.
No way to know.
Hey you havent heard what music I like to sing,
Dean Martin, Andy Williams, Bobby Darin, ect...
I by no means have it all figured out but I can only share what I've learned and experienced in my short time here.

I too am an old soul, I listen to music that sounds like 70s and 80s, if I watch tv I watch older shows, but there are other people like us out there, the right girl will come along, don't get so desperate you miss her.
Some girls are kinda flakey at times, like the girl at my job, merely asked her to ice cream two weeks after a breakup that she acted like she was over, she turned me down and I respected that, she still somehow found a reason to get mad at me. I'm kinda glad it worked out the way it did because she has some personality traits that I don't find too appealing that I'm now aware of in light of recent events, weird thing is apparently I'm still a topic of discussion for her and she keeps telling people how the guy shes "dating" is bigger than me (by 2 inches I'm 6'3-4"), why am I the unit of measure? Instead of her using her ex boyfriend who is like 5'10"?
I had a girl that was really interested in me, she was just a little too clingy for me along with a few other incompatibilities, it's just how it be sometimes.
On my trip to NY I noticed girls in NY aren't like the ones here in LA, they don't play coy and expect guys to just "get" that they're interested, everywhere I went I had girls actually checking me out and waving to me.
Give it time tho, the right one will show up, perhaps have a talk with the girl your interested in, ask what her motivations were in saying that, just don't commit to her if she isn't committing to you, by that I mean if you want try going out with her don't commit until you see she has done that for you, not what she says but what she does is what matters.
Good luck bro! You got this!

York1Do you think you will solve the issue of not being Danish citizens when you buy?
I hope, but I am not sure. When things get serious, I will talk to the reals estate agent. Still hoping that this will turn out well - I can hardly wait to leave this place, as I feel more and more uncomfortable in this country.
Time to turn in - CU all tomorrow!

Hello, everyone.
Even though it's about 30° out, I just got through running the mower over the lawn. The ash trees have lost their leaves and needed to be cleaned.
My yard has the problem of many different kinds of trees, and they all lose their leaves at different times. The ash trees go first, and the red oak trees last. In between, the maples, the red buds, the cherries, and the Dawn Redwood all go at different times. It seems I pick up leaves for about three months.

Ulrich, hopefully the right house will fall into your lap when you can finally look seriously. Do you think you will solve the issue of not being Danish citizens when you buy?
Kevin, do you have any idea of how many railways run with a car of yours?
Time for lunch and a nap. I've got the fireplace set up, but no fire until tonight while we watch the football game.
Edit: On my screen, I'm now at the top. Since it's lunchtime, I'll spring for everyone to have the best diner food -- hamburgers, french fries, and a Coke. The cold beer will have to wait until tonight for the game.
Jimmy_BraumIm sure someone will eventually show up in an unexpected place.
I know this is going to happen when the time comes! However, the harder you push for it, the less attractive you seem to appear for the females of our species. When I expected it the least, I met Petra, nearly 36 years ago, out of which we are married over 35 years now...
Jimmy, I disagree with Ulrich. You are young and need to gain some experience. Go out with lots of girls, even the challenging ones. You will learn things about women, and also things about yourself.

Bike helmets, motorcycle helmets and ski helmets, everyone!
My bike helmet has protected my head a few times, and I won't ski without one. I used to take one about once a week off my hockey helmet, too.
Delaware has no helmet laws. Too many of those accidents to tolerate that.
I won't even ride a motorcycle. I'm a hockey goalie, but I'm not crazy.
Time for some coffee and cake to brighten up my day! How about a slice of that cherry crumble pie, topped with vanilla ice cream and a serving of "creme chantilly"?
I have benn searching the real estates sites in Denmark but did not discover any alternative suitable. The ideal house is too far away from Germany and quite difficult to reach by public transport. My son does not have a car and also has no plans of getting one, so that would make it nearly impossible for him to visit us. I don´t think that Petra would buy in to that! The other houses on the market are quite nice but do not have two separate apartments. I don´t know whether our friend or Petra would except living together and have to share a kitchen and the living room. Two separate bathrooms are a must have, though! Well, we see whether we can cross that bridge when we come to it.

Hey all. Hope everyone is well.
It's been a very curious week for me. This woman i was talking to, with intentions to date, said i should date someone else instead of her. Then two days later she says wants to date me, but "go date that other girl" what is up with that?
Work is going okay. Im still researching about what kind of schooling is involved with getting into the IT field, since it seems that is where id be happiest. I started a walking challenge as well at work. Not doing it fir any prizes, im doing it to lose major lbs. At least 40-50lbs. According to my height, i should be 140-150.
Trains: Bought 3 hot metal bottle cars for the club, and will start work on them before too long. They're a bit rough, but it'll work. I also got the following photo on my layout ladt night.
Still bare bones, but it's a start. I guess that'll be a nice sized yard for my needs.
At some point this week, i need to climb on my roof and clean out my gutters- pine needles, and they haven't been done in years- dad didn't have them cleaned regularly. Not looking forward to that at all.
Hi Ed,
I'm so sorry for the loss of your first wife. Words are hardly adequate. I have lost a son. That was bad, but I can't imagine what it would be like to be without Dianne.
As soon as I saw the wound on Dianne's forehead I told myself that we are not going to fool around with this and just brush it off. I asked how she was feeling on Friday morning and she said she had a headache and was a bit dizzy. She hadn't had those issues on the day of the fall. I told her that we should consider going to the hospital for some tests. At the time she didn't want to but by early afternoon she had changed her mind. She was feeling much worse. Once we got to the hospital things deteriorated even more. Her vertigo got to the point where she needed a wheelchair.
Tonight the vertigo has mostly settled down and she has been able to get some sleep. I will keep a close eye on her for the next few days.
Normally I am a pretty calm guy but this has me on edge, and rightly so. Thanks for everyone's support.
Good Morning!
A wet October day is ahead of us. Maybe a hearty breakfst will help to cjase the autumnal blues away! Yes, Zoe dear, I know it is not yet Sunday, but I think I need my big breakfast today, thank you!
Dave, don´t let us scare you. I think that now, with the CT and an X ray having been done, everything will be fine in a few days of rest.
My favorite narrow gauge engine, the D&RG T-12 #168 is undergoing more testing at the C&TS RR shops.

hon30critterI remember that Liam Neeson's wife passed away after banging her head skiing in Quebec. Tragic.
Small world, Dave. Liam Neeson was just in my neighborhood shooting a movie!
https://www.geaugamapleleaf.com/news/liam-neeson-shoots-scene-in-chardon-twp-for-upcoming-movie/
I blame a knock on the head for possibly causing my first wife's cerebral hemorrhage. She really konked it hard while trying to quickly get four kids out of the car, a little Datsun, after a minor accident.
About six months later she died of the hemorrhage at 27. I can't confirm my diagnosis, of course, but I'm sticking with my theory.
Wasn't going to bring it up but since you mentioned Mr. Neeson's situation there was a real similarity.
I'm hoping for a quick and complete recovery for Dianne as well, Dave.
Cheers, Ed
Tinplate ToddlerI am sorry to hear about Dianne´s delay in recovery. That sounds like a not so mild concussion!
Hi Ulrich,
Thanks for your concern.
Tinplate ToddlerI just wonder why she hadn´t been kept in hospital right from the beginning!
Dianne was not exhibiting any of the symptoms of a concussion on the day of the fall. She was sore and had a bit of a headache, but she was quite willing to continue the fall leaf colour tour that we were on (the colours were amazing by the way!). I decided that we should head home instead.
The doctor who saw her and stitched her up after the fall was quite clear in his instructions about what to do if things got worse, but there was simply no reason to admit her at the time just because she had a cut on her forehead. I have no qualms about the treatment she received.
Head injuries are a bit scary. I remember that Liam Neeson's wife passed away after banging her head skiing in Quebec. Tragic. I don't think we are headed down that road but we won't make any assumptions that everything is fine until it is!
Dave,

Mike .... Thanks for commenting .... Son in FL and his wife have tried adopting for quite a while. They were close to adopting two brothers a few years ago, but it did not work out. This time, they have been trying to adopt a boy since he was a little baby. Now the boy is about two years old. They are optimist about Tuesday's court date.
