To be honest, there have been several times in the past 41 married years that I wished I had done exactly that. Not often. Wait ... is my wife reading this over my shoulder !! Forget what I just wrote.

hon30critter maxman Have you considered taking dancing lessons? Jimmy, I think that is a great suggestion! I am a good dancer (was anyhow). When I was in university I would have no shortage of girls insisting that I dance with them at the pubs. Some nights I hardly got a break. I learned to jive pretty well, and the girls loved it when I taught them some of the basics, even though it was in the late 70s when jiving had almost become a lost art. If you discover that you do like dancing, there are lots of dances happening all the time at local Legions and other halls. There are also dance clubs, although their standards can be a little on the high side. I will say one more thing about dancing. I am a klutz when it comes to physical movement. I have to really focus on which foot to move next, and it took me a long time to get it (mostly) right. My point is that I was able to learn to dance well enough that I got complimented regularly. It's almost like learning to play a musical instrument but easier. Just beware of the cougars!! Dave

Mom and Dad loved to dance. They did it until neither of them could stand up any more.
As for meeting someone:
Mom pushed Dad into a closet at work and kissed him.
Don't let the good one get away.
They are now buried together in a veteran's cemetary.
Good morning, everyone. We had rain during the night, but it dawned clear and cool. The leaves are beginning to change, and it is beautiful out.

Not much else going on here, so it will be an enjoyable day. Hope everyone is feeling well and having a good Saturday.
Good Afternoon!
The day started fairly nice, but by the time I had finished the HD list, the sky turned grey and now St. Peter is shedding tear drops - again. Took an old printer to the city dump for recycling. They have a container in which you cal load any electric/electronic device you wish to get rid of. These won´t be repaired, but taken apart to recycle any valuable material. It is incredible how much gold they get out of that effort each year.
Jimmy_BraumFunny how things go, last night a local woman actually started talking to me about model trains, and wanting to get into it. Apparently she saw me last year at my clubs open house and wants to get to know me better. Not going to rush this, but it is nice to find someone my age into model trains.
Sounds nice, just take your time and see how things develop! Maybe there is more in this than just sharing a common love for model railroading!
Have you ever seen a D&RGW C-19 with a bear trap spark arrester? The Colorado Railroad Museum has retro-fitted #346 with it. Looks odd!
Unfortunately, Imgur is out for maintenance, so I will upload my picture a little later.
Edit: Imgur appears to be back, so here is the picture!
Happy times!

Pretty much this week, the train woman and my nascar driver -Ryan Blaney-winning Talladega have been the only two good things.

Good Morning!
Saturday already! Time is flying by these days.
Yesterday, I tried to use my printer, but no luck! I haven´t used it for quite some time, and it appears to be frozen up. Well, time to take it to the dump - getting it repaired is more expensive than buying a new one.
Jimmy - maxman´s idea of taking dancing lessons is a wonderful suggestion! Girls just admire a good dancer, something I have never been. Those lessons will not only teach how to do all those fancy dance steps, but also help you on how to communicate with the other gender. I´d say go for it!
Steven - I am sure that crazy Sidney woman does not know what legal risk she is taking by running around and telling fabricated stories about you at your workplace! I am sure a time will come when just ignoring it won´t do any longer. I´d suggest to clearly tell her to stop that nonsense or she will face legal action for libel! You could also go for a court injunction. This is not a child´s horseplay, but a serious issue!
Gotta run - Petra made a HD list for me to work down!
Steven,
I think you are being harrassed and slandered. That's unfortunate.
I think you are also handling it quite well!
I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Don't give up just because of a string of bad luck!
Dating is hard, self confidence is key, self reliance is also key, I've dabbled with Tinder (and a few other sites) a few times since turning 18, I didn't get any matches, I got a few likes from rather unappealing women, I once came across two friends or twins I think that were... ahem, a "package deal" I quickly swiped left! Ones enough for me!
Just ghost that person (I was going to use an expletive, anyone who plays with peoples hearts is another level of evil), cut all contact and move on.
I've found myself in the unique position of having a girl that has clearly turned me down and is now no longer speaking to me but somehow still goes on about me to people, like I matter to her, let me explain.
So apparently I'm dating someone at work...
Except I don't know who...
Hows that possible?
Well the lovely but rather batpoop crazy Sydney apparently manufactured this "fan fiction" (as the aquatics director called it) and the convinced Grant (aquatics director) that this was true so he came to me to find out the who and to tell me to cease and desist.
Not to mention everything I do somehow bothers her (I mind my business, do my job, and I have Grant constantly bringing her complaints to me, most of which I explain what I actually said or did and that's the end of it.
Like ok, you don't want to date me, I'm done trying to date you so leave me alone like I'm leaving you alone!
Point is you'll encounter some crazies somewhere along the line.
Steve
If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough!
hon30critterThere are two vaccines available for shingles. The first one developed in 2006 is Zostavax. It is available to seniors in Ontario over age 65 for free under our health plan. It lasts for about five years. The second option is Shingrix which was approved in 2017. It is considered to be more effective than Zostavax and is predicted to last longer. It requires two injections anywhere from 2 to 6 months apart.
I had the Zostavax about five years ago, it was free. Then this past year my doctor said I should get the Shingrix. I got the first one two months ago, and the second the other day. My Part D for Medicare covered most of the cost for Shingrix.
I have never had side effects of medicines or vaccinations before, so I was a little surprised I got them this time. It only lasted a day, and I'm feeling a lot better today.
My father had shingles when he was in his 80s, and he really suffered. That's why I made sure to get vaccinated.
maxmanHave you considered taking dancing lessons?
Jimmy_BraumIve tried all the dating sites, no luck.
Have you considered taking dancing lessons? A lot of ladies like to dance and can't find suitable partners. So long as you keep your breath and body fresh, always act like a gentleman, and keep your hands where they belong you should do okay. You may not meet miss perfect, but you might have a lot of fun.

Neither vaccine is 100% effective. In fact, the Zostavax is only about 50% effective. Both vaccines can be taken if you have already had shingles IIRC.
I know all this because I just had my first Shingrix shot last Wednesday.
My wife has had shingles. It is nasty!
Top of the page! Breakfast is on me. I recommend french toast made with banana bread and served with Canadian maple syrup and bacon. It tastes great, and is a good way to use up banana bread that is a bit stale, not that the Diner would serve anything that is stale.
Last night in Atlanta. It is about 60 degrees outside.
.
My wife and I went to Little Five Points and ate at Hattie-B's Hot Fried Chicken. We sat outside under the heaters, and it was perfect. The heaters kept us warm, then a gentle breeze would cool us down. It is really a perfect night outside.
I hope all are well.

Living the dream.
Ive tried all the dating sites, no luck. There's only a couple social groups in my place of worship. The kids, the married ones my age, and the older couples. Im an anomaly in there.
Howdy.
Exciting news . Our son and his wife adopted a son today ...After over a year of effort, they were just told by the judge the adoption is final .... We now have a seventh Grand Child.
Jimmy.. You are better off without that woman. I would suggest you consider joining a Christian singles group. It should be a group of people socializing and having fun without trying to force relationships. ... Meanwhile , model railroading is a great hobby allowing you to escape troubles of the world. Be careful about loving money because that is a bad idea.

Im done....... im falling in love with money and model trains. "He who dies at a ripe elder age, with the most model trains wins"
Thanks. Yes I am normally at VIR once or twice a year for vintage races. Thursday might be tough as the weekend has started for us by then but if I go Monday again I will try to stop by. I went early a few years ago and spent time in Roanoke at the museums. That made it an excellent trip. J.R.

Normally lurk a little in the diner but hadn't been here all month and noticed this. I assume you were at VIR outside of Danville? If you wind up in the area again for a race you have to catch us at the Danville Model Railroad Club. We meet on Monday and Thursday nights. http://www.dmrrclub.org/
York1Ed, your story on your layout is neat. That's the kind of thing I would like to do on my layout, although my imagination is not up to it.
Actually, my imagination isn't all that clever, either. I had that figure with his hands in the air like that because he was guiding a crane operator while loading a flat car.
Well, the grandkids were visiting a few weeks ago and one of them poked the team of horses and broke off their harness and rig.
So, while picking up the poor horse to glue him back on to his neck yoke rig I decided to rest him on the guy with his arms up. Don't 'ya know, he balanced perfectly up there. Had the camera handy and as Paul Harvey would say —
We're here to have fun, right
Enjoy the day, folks! Ed
Donner and Blitzen! No´, not two of Santa´s reindeers, but German for thunder and lightning! That´s what we have right now!
Just an ordinary day today, with nothing much happening right now. We are still in the waiting mode. Our friend´s apartment is not yet on the market, so all I can do at the moment is to frequently look at what´s in the market. There is not much movement right now.

Good morning. Cool, clear, and windy today. Good day for the corn harvest to continue.

JaBear, I'm interested in your video and your job, but to tell the truth, I get a little seasick thinking about it. I had a friend who was a crop duster, and he took video of his flights. I watched part of it, but it made me feel sick. I would not be a good sailor or pilot.
Ulrich, that house looks great! It looks inviting and comfortable, especially the picture taken at night. Here's to hoping things work out.
Ken, I'm thankful your accident wasn't more serious.
Not much going on here. I got my second shingles vaccination, and the doctor said there would be side effects. I didn't pay attention because I have never had side effects for anything. This time I was wrong. I felt terrible yesterday. It's a little better this morning, but still don't feel normal. I know this is far better than getting shingles.
Since I used to live in New Orleans, I've been interested in the Hard Rock Hotel building collapse. Today they are going to try to knock down the cranes so they don't fall onto surrounding buildings.
Hope everyone has a great day.
Good morning ..... Coffee and a donut, please.
Ed .... I meant to type a response to your photo with men and a horse yesterday. Very clever!. I like whimsical scenes.
Ken ..... Sorry to hear about the fender bender .
I put this picture in Photo Fun. It shows the S&G boxcar at the freight house in Prairie View.

You know you have had a rotten day when you can say Best Part Of The Day Was The Car Accident You Where In Going Into Work!
Sadly that is a ture statment. Very minor accdent, luclky I still a good evasive driver. It was a a 4 lane intersection with a signal light. I was on the inside lane and the light had turn green while I was around 125 feet away. There where only 2 cars at the light and they had started moving. Outside lane had 7 cars or so and rear cars where still at a stand still. Guy in the rear decided it would be a good idea to change lanes to where the traffic was moving so he did. With out looking in his mirror. That was the problem!
I saw him moving towards my lane and swerve to my left. His bumper just caught my Right Rear Quarter Panel and pushed in the Wheel Well Lip about 3/4 of a inch. We pulled and he was apologizing like mad. I looked at his bumper and then looked at my Quarter Panel and said the heck with it. I did not feel like waiting for the cops. My car looks like rolling death still a good car but clear coat is peeling off so I blew it off and let bygones be bygones. Shook hands and went to work.
More than likely he thought I did not have insurance from the looks of my car. I do and it is by State Farm.
Sad part it was the best part of my day till I got home.
Later, Ken

SeeYou19048 degrees in Atlanta this morning! Thank heavens I am only needing to endure these conditions for one more day, then I drive South and escape the Winter.
It was 8C here in Bradford, Ontario today (8C = 46.4F), and windy! I had a hard time deciding whether to wear a jacket or not.
