I have found an alternative house to buy, which would need the addition of an extra bathroom to suit our needs.

Nice house Ulrich. Good luck with it!

By the way, do you have to fertilize the roof?!?Smile, Wink & GrinClown

Interesting video Bear!! I love the part about having to take off downhill in order to get the heavily laden aircraft into the sky!

Garry, remember Mick Jagger, lead singer of the Rolling Stones.  He had heart valve replacement earlier this year and was back out on tour with the band, dancing on stage a couple of months later.

He is 76 years old.

48 degrees in Atlanta this morning! Thank heavens I am only needing to endure these conditions for one more day, then I drive South and escape the Winter.

Gee, being here in Pennsylvania, I thought Atlanta was in the South.

Good morning, everyone.  It's a good morning for walking.   The temperature is 38°, the sun is bright, and the wind is calm.  Beautiful.

I have been following with interest the story of the Hard Rock Hotel collapse in New Orleans.  They are worried now about the 40 ton cranes that have no support.  If they fall the wrong way, they will destroy an historic theater.  There is no good answer, but the best outcome would be to fall on a multi-story parking garage.  There are a lot of questions about what went wrong, and who is to blame.  The Canal Streetcar line is shutdown indefinitely because the unstable building fronts on Canal Street.

Hope everyone has a good day.  For those of you with illnesses, or have friends with illnesses, you are in my thoughts.

Ulrich ..... Best wishes to you as you continue with house hunting. The house in the pictures looks comfortable.

It is indeed a comfortable and cozy home, which has been upgraded over its many years since it was built. The year was 1777, a year after the Declaration of Independence was signed!

The location is also outstanding - 5 min. walk to a bakery and a supermarket, a 8 min. drive to the next "real" town with all the facilities, including a train station and a museum railroad!

Happy times!

Good Afternoon!

Just a short visit, as I am feeling kind of awkward today. The older I get, the more weather-sensitive I seem to get. No open sky today, and the clouds really hang low - and so does my mood!

I have found an alternative house to buy, which would need the addition of an extra bathroom to suit our needs. Just a few impressions:

This could be a place for a layout:

The boys were sittin' round the stove last night.

Uncle Charlie was listening to one of Jake's tall tales. "I don't believe you any more that you could lift Spark Plug over your head!" says Charlie.

Even the cat and the dachshund got in on that action!

 Jake_and-his-horse by Edmund, on Flickr

Old Jake came through all right. Floyd even had his Kodak ready for the moment.

The dachshund had to pony-up a can of sardines to the cat.

Everyone had a good time. They all found out that Spark Plug was tickelish.

Cheers, Ed

Gidday Chloe, I’ve got time to actually drop in tonight, so could I have a hot chocolate, in the back booth, please. Feel free to give me a kick if my snoring disturbs the other patrons!!

Thanks Dave, for clarifying access to that lion video, I just had time to check that it was suitable for general viewing, then posted it with out rechecking the connectability. Embarrassed

Saints Fan John, I’m not that surprised that there’s a Kiwi living in your neighbourhood, we tend to pop up in all sorts of places. While you say he’s still got his NZ accent, it would be interesting to hear how pronounced it is now. It’s just that I’ve got a Kiwi pilot staying with me, while I do some maintenance on his aeroplane. He been going up to Canada to fly floatplanes in their summer, and this year has come back with a mild Canadian accent.

That said, I reckon my Grandfather, who immigrated from the Scottish Highlands in 1923 at the age of 20, accent got broader after he reached the age of 85, especially when he talked on the telephone.

Tonight, I’m going down a different path, video wise. At 1.23 is the hanger that I started my aircraft engineering career in, and I, at a later date, also moved AJO around for another documentary. While I knew Ossie James, I never actually worked for him because I started there just after he sold his business.
At 3.45 it shows a loader truck loading a Fletcher, that was my first paid job in aviation, again for a different company.
When Her-in-doors and I went to Taranaki for the 80th birthday party for one of my friends, at 5.54 is one of the DC3s he flew as a topdressing pilot.

 Eveing Diners.

Flo, give the gang and I a Beer please and Dirk Pip his dog treat.

Strange but good Work Front. It was slooooow, first customer came in around 2:30 or so. They where credit shopping. That means they have been to other stores and turn down. Her score was 666 and been turned down twices today, so I did not try to get credit for her. Cost the company $25.00 to run a appcation.

Next and last customer that came in at 6:30 did not want to hear a word I said. They where looking for a Futon and Futon Mattress for there son. Kent (husband) said there where all to flimsy and he would build his owen. They pretty much wanted to stay away from me, but I took my time. Wife started to look at mattress and they wanted something firm. Asked a few qustions like do you toss and turn and they both said yes. I explained why that was happing (to firm of mattress) and again they did not want to hear it!

As I explained why a firm mattress was not good for them Kent started to listen. He finally says "that makes since" and I won him over. She resisteted a little more but I be dang I all so won her over! Threw in a free Futon Mattress and they spent $2300.00 be for tax.

Best part I think they got a good mattress for them and will help them sleep better. Plus making a extra $105.00 helps. I will never try to get a customer to buy the wrong mattress for my personal gain! I have to sleep well at night my self!

Got to go to comb Dirk Pip.

 Later None Smoking Ken

Good afternoon from a soggy West Coast where it is 16c.

Garry, it is good to hear your BIL has come through his ordeal, it is now up to him to get into the rehab part and get back into good shape.

Richard, congrats on the grandkid, I doubt I'll ever see one as the wife and I started quite late in life. My Mom passed before my kids were very old (5 & 2) as a result of me getting married as an old guy.Laugh

Well, the vultures have begun circling. I am the executor for a 98-year-old lady that has just been admitted to hospital with a failing heart. She is not even dead yet and people are wanting to know who the beneficiaries are. This lady was best friends with my Mom and 30 years ago knowing I don't take any BS from anyone asked me to be her Executor. She informed me of some potential troublemakers and like any bully, they backed right off when they met me.Laugh

This lady had an incredible life that would make for a good book. She is an American that was an army nurse and served in some horrific conflicts, She knew Sir Edmund Hillary and did a climb of Mt Cook in New Zealand with him, she has two PHDs and has taught all over the world and has worked to open Universities in third world countries.

She is an American with no family to speak of, she moved to Canada about 50 years ago and has significant assets both in Canada and in the U.S. so my work is cut out for me. I already have a good Lawfirm that has the expertise to deal internationally. I have already been reading about U.S. probate law. Methinks I am going to learn lots.GeekedLaugh

The wife is off at the funeral of a good friend of hers. She was only 53, highly educated with a great job. She did herself in by smoking. It was a long gradual, grueling end to her life, she was such a nice person.

Daughter is still at home as she woke up with the flu on Tuesday and has been in bed since. It is tough seeing your kid so sick. She is not quite as tough as my son, he is like me and just keeps going.

I am going to go work on the layout but before I go I will post a tourist video of Queenstown New Zealand I spent several days there as it is beautiful. I went on the Shotover jet boats, Went on a day-long river rafting trip, Went horseback riding for a day up into the mountains, did that luge ride several times (had free tickets) Did a day-long hike. Took three helicopter rides, one of which the pilot played Top Gun music while we flew up a narrow windy canyon. Went for a ride in a Cessna, the pilot let me drive and we got into some cool stunt flying. The best part was the incredible restaurants we would hit every night, they had the best lamb anywhere and the red wine to go with it.

All the best to all.

Edit; I see I got tops, everyone aboard this Air Canada 777ER we are going to Queenstown NZ for lamb. Flight time from Vancouver nonstop 1745hrs.

Good Morning!

The rain hammering against the windows woke me up early this morning. It´s going to be a wet rest of the week - bah!

Garry - that is good news, indeed! The engine will be good for many more miles now, with a new set of valves and  a new head gasket Smile, Wink & Grin It has to be broken in slowly, though. Will your BIL go into a rehab facility for that? My Mom did.

D&RG #168 has concluded a series of tests and was taken on the road for the first time yesterday! What a beauty!

And, of course, a new video of her!

She´s my favorite!

Happy times!

Garry I have the feeling I look something like is old Doggie Daddy. He looks at me like I know you, but who are you? Either that or What are you up to? Hmm Either way he has settle in and seems happy.

VA Health Front. While still a pain in the Caboose it did not go that bad. My Intern Dr Sandeep is learing better bed side maners. Last time I was there he kept saying the samething over and over again. Main thing that dives me nuts about my wife! Bang Head This time he would bring up what he would like me to do and then drop it.

I am old but not Feeble Minded yet. I understand what he was saying. Last time all he did was make me Angry and I would have walked today if he did it again!

Good Afternoon!

It´s an unusual sunny and warm day today! Very enjoyable!

Our friend down south informed me, that the renovation of the apartment she is selling is progressing nicely, so it will enter the market by the end of the month. The apartment is in a choice location and should sell quickly. This gives us hope that we will be out of here late spring early summer, providing the Danish government has no objections!

How about some New Zealand steam noise?

Happy times!

Good Morning All,

Back in the shop after all the travels/travails. In short order Danville, Va  Richmond, Va (with the wife in her 172 Cessna) Austin, Tx and then Watkins Glen, Ny. We're done now until the second week of November though we do still have a crew in Houston to cover the US Grand Prix weekend support race the first week in November (I don't have to go).

Trying to get caught up with a lot of stuff at home and in the shop but if I can find and transfer my NZ pics I have stills of Glenbrook Vintage Railway and the Dunedin Railway as well. The Dunedin station is magnificent and while spending time with the brides to be on the love train the film crew missed some spectacular views as the train wound its' way along the cliffs on the side of the river. The unique thing about the vintage steam in New Zealand is they allow it access to the Kiwi Rail mains so proper excursions are possible. I also have buried somewhere some pics of the very efficient commuter rail that branched from Pukekohe to Auckland and in the southern part of North Island around the capital at Wellington.

Hope those of you ailing make full recoveries - diners, loved ones and pets as well - catch you all later.       J.R.

I am back home after being up in Flagstaff for the birth of my gransdon. Yesterday morning I held a human that had only been breathing air for 2 1/2 hours. The last time I held a baby that young was when I held his mother over 26 years ago.

I bet that was some feeling!

Flo, give the gang and I a Beer please and Dirk has had his treat for the night.

Richard Congrats on the new Grand Child. All I will ever have are grand dogs.

Work Front Well the best part was Nancy did not show up! Yes Only had 3 customers in 9 hours. Some Hoilday sale. Thumbs Down

Off to the VA Hosptial Tuesday. Hmm Have to be there at 11:30 so I have to leave around 10:30.

After that off to Charter. Seems my TV Modem died in the family room. Have not had TV for 4 days now in there. I miss it while I am eating.

All so have to buy a new Gas Heater for the Garage / Train room. Mine died last year and I did not like using a Propane Gas Heater. Luckly my Citi Bank Card is giving me no intrest till June 2020 so that helps.

Trains are running great and Dirk says woolf.

 Later Ken
