YGW: glad you made it through, stopping hearts is a common proceedure for proceedures these days. It's only when your heart stops when you don't expect it like mine did and you die that you have to worry! Fortunatley I was at work, though sick with walking pneumonia...if I had stayed home sick, I wouldn't be here today, as I would have been alone, and my heart gave no warning of stopping! Watch for a PM by weeks end.
Barry: glad to know you are still here, too!
Ulrich: Wherefore art thou, Ulrich? tell us what the Dr, said that has you contemplating the shortness of life. We are here to support you!

I got the confirmation on my Amtrak station and NYC baggage car.
To answer your question YGW, measure the original parts than convert it. It might easier to say than explain. When I get the parts like styrene, windows, doors, etc I will build it. And maybe in the future I'll show a picture, when it's complete.

Sun has been trying to shine here in the Finger Lakes this morning. that is always a good thing here. Currently 73°F outside. yep that is not a typo! 73°F I am going to get out a fold up cot I have in the shed, and set up in the back yard and get some sun on my back and sides.... That should help quiet down the psoriasis.
I went down to the ENT Doc this morning for my annual check up (needed for CPAP Supplies) only to find out they changed my appointment to 10:15... I didn't catch that from the mumbling on the answering machine last week. I did after several listenings figure out I have to take the SD Card over to the Place I got my CPAP from to have them download the info and send it over to the Doc. I knew I should have called to confirm my appointment. They gave me a new appointment for next week....
Prayers for all on sick call... Have a good day!

Ray, my dentist doesn't let me forget appointments. I get a postcard. I get a recording on the land-line (because I never answer it) and at least 2 texts. Then, I get an e-mail. The e-mail, I've learned, always has the time listed in GMT, not local time. Huh? Yes, they use some strange software that does not play well with my gmail address. I've told them about it, but apparantly the company that makes their notification software thinks it's somehow gmail's responsibility to comply with their overly-complex solution.
We're seeing 70s here in New England, too. A week ago it was too cold to ski. I plan to do some spray painting outside and take advantage of the good weather and warmth.
It's my birthday. Still recovering from this cold, though, so I'll do little celebration.

Apparently the monitors for my heart were going off like crazy last night. Low O2. Low BP. Low heart rate. Panic stations, anyone? Yep, doctor told me this morning that my heart was fine and ticking right along...at 30bpm. I told him that I don't jump right out of bed first thing in the morning for that very reason.

BARRY,
So glad you are on the mend. Good to have that temp down, we are pulling for you.
YGW., Glad your procedure went smoothly and quickly. It is a bummer when like me, I went in for an afternoon procedure and ended up staying 12 days.
GALAXY,
Hang in there Good buddy, good to hear things are a little better. Also was good to hear your Father or FIL, decided to give you a helping hand.
ULRICH,
All you Fellas continue in our prayers. Spring will soon be here. I hope you are proud of your layout, it looks great.
I'm off to see the Saw Bones this afternoon. My Wife has had Broncitis for a couple of weeks now and it was a bad case. I have avoided it pretty well, but now this morning I'm coughing from down in my chest not just out of the throat like normally for me. I am prone to chest infections, so have to get on top of this quickly as my throat condition certainly hasn't improved this situation any.
Will check back in later.

Hey all
Not feeling great this evening. Feel like a Mac truck hit me. Upper body very sore, throat very raw. Probably from yesterdays procedure. Spent the day watching American Pickers, bought some train stuff on ebay. My poor wife is about a nervous wreck over health conditions. I keep reassuring her but women have a built in worry app.
Nealknows - LOL love the sign !
Garry - Thanks, Big G looks out for all of us. Some us refuse to acknoledge it. I would like to continue the conversation. PM ?

Been THERE, DONE that. I think they let me go WAY to early. The last time I had pneumonia I was in for 3.5 weeks {ABOUT 6 YEARS AGO}, this time they let me go after a week. That is why I think I have been struggling with it all this time [nw in my 13th week}!
This is the "winter of my discontent"....

Good Afternoon!
It´s past lunchtime, so all I´ll be having is a mug of coffee, please.
I am still not in a good shape, mentally and physically. Running a train on my layout helps a little to to fall too deeply into a depression. I actually did some work on the layout this morning, "planting" bushes I made from WS Polyfiber, brown paint, white glue and WS Blended Turf. The result is quite satisfying. Pictures will eventually follow.
YGW - got your email - thanks for the spiritual boost! Contnuing for your recovery! The same goes out to Barry, Galaxy and all others ailing!
Edit:
I just found this video showing an awesome HO scale layout of the narrow gauge cog railway to the Schafberg Mountain in Austria!
Stunning!
Good morning everybody.
Evidently, the ghost returned last night. Shelley left her phone in the charger, and when she went back to it, the protective cover was missing. We have looked all over for the protective cover. It does not easily fall off, and it requires effort to remove it. If we had removed the cover we would have remembered doing that.
I hope all of the health problems are improving.
YGW ... I hope your wife's emotions have improved. Tell her hello from the Diners. I have trouble using PM's but will see if I can get it working later today. I think I had your email address from a while ago, but our yahoo account lost a lot of email contacts. Sometimes, emails sent to us don't show up.
I'll have coffee to go, but I hope to be back in the Diner later.
Good Morning; Flo, a cuppa coffee with two creams, please.
I have had some time to do a little work on the RR. Trying to complete the tunnel entrances on the layout ( there are two, note connected by a tunnel ,though); one is done, starting on the other.
Pretty warm yesterday, looks like spring is early.
Later,
Peter
Zoe, I'll have a short stack of Buckwheat Pancakes (Birkett Mills mix would be fine) with pure NYS Maple Syrup, a couple sausage links, and a pot of Seneca Lake Blend Organic, Fair Traded, Dark Roast coffee to keep my R&GV RR Mug filled for a while.
Dark and gloomy outside the door today. Temperature is currently 58°F and is at the predicted high for the day. I hjave to clean the house big time today as there is going to be a Pack 1 leaders organizational meeting here at my house tonight. That means there are 3 places I am supposed to be at the same time tonight... Obviously two places will luck out and not have to put up with me then. I should also be at the Troop meeting, and tonight is Boy Scout Camp Properties committee.
Yesterday was wonderful here in the Finger Lakes and I did mange to lay out in the sun with my shirt off in my back yard for about 15 minutes. That helps the body heal psoriasal plagues. I plan to spend as many days as I can this spring fightingb back on the psoriasis! The meeting at my house tonight will mean I won't be able to get my walk in, so that will be on the schedule for tomorrow.
Ulrich, keep working on your layout. It is good for your mind and your mood as well as something we all enjoy seeing!!! Keeping you in my prayers!
Later!
It seems to be the time for contemplating, but this time it is not life or life´s finiteness, but the layout I am building.
What I like about it, is that things work out to be close to what I had planned. The scenery comes together nicely and, although there are still lots of details missing, the layout is eye candy (at least to my eyes). Operation is smooth, with a few spots generating a clickety-clack, but those spots are necessary to prevent the track from warping. OK, operation is somewhat limited, but that´s the way it was planned.
If I were to build it again, would I do things differently? Why, of course! The way I built this layout has made it kind of heavy. It can still be moved, but it takes an effort to do so. Next time I will follow my own advice and build a lightweight benchwork consisting of 4" foam and 1/8" Masonite used as basis, side protection and subroadbed. I´d also change the track plan to incorporate a passing siding and a 3-track staging yard. This would make the layout longer by 2 ft. which was out of question at this location. The staging yard would make railfanning more interesting, being able to observe 3 different trains en route.
One more item - although I am not a big fan of animated gimmicks on a layout, I´d integrate a Faller Car System on the road behind the chapel, with the yellow bus (and some cars) moving along, sounding that typical Swiss PTT bus horn.
But that´s about all I would do differently.
I am still happy with the layout as it is.
65 degrees outside and raining. Yuck. I would like to have taken a walk. I got off the cold meds and didn't sleep much better (or worse) than the night before with them, so I guess that's progress. I feel a bit livelier, though. Walk tomorrow, maybe. I think I'll open the garage door and do some limited spray painting in there today.
Ulrich, I wish I could count the things I'd do differently on the toes of one hand, but my list is considerably longer. I've got staging, finally, but it's single-ended which I see now as a shortcoming. I'd love to relocate my carfloat terminal, too, because it's way back in an awkward corner so I seldom run anything back there, even though it's one of the more interesting puzzles to work.
I am exhausted from doing nothing - how can that be? It´s not yet 8pm here, but I feel like hitting the hay. Guess I´ll have to manage to stay up for an hour or so. More check-ups coming tomorrow.
Good Afternoon all.
Nice relaxing day in Sunny Va. In the high 70s low 80s today . Closed the deal on a few ebay purchases. Ran some errands. While looking at my daugthers school project I accidently broke it ooops. Some epoxy, some paint and a quick trip back to her school before her project was due...Hope I didnt ruin her chances of getting a good grade.
Howmus - Hope your clouds dont head this way !
Ulrich - Glad I could be of help. You know the best vision we have is 20/20 hindesight. The future is always foggy when we try to make the best choices. The video I had to laugh at myself. I thought " how is that thing gonna work when it heads down hill. So I fast forwarded and then I see it reversing ...DUH ! Sometimes the obvious escapes us !
Garry - Let me know if you need my email we can figure out how to get it to you.
Lion - R-O-A- R nice pict !
Der, UP831, Johnboy.....Hello hope to hear from you soon.
Just dropped by to say hello and get a bite to eat. Glad to find some of you already here. Any of you do anything fun or special the last few days? Look forward to talking with everyone again.
