 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer please.

Not a good day at work, nor was it a bad day. I blew out of there about 50 minutes ealry. I will see Sunday if Jerry messed anything up.

Frank Soory to hear about the lost of a good friend.

Ulrich Layout is looking good. I like Bush Trees, I think I have around 60 or so.

YGW I think to fix the light house effect on the PK2000 B&O GP 30's I will have to pull the light bar out. With blocking the bottom of the light bar electrical tape I think the light is coming from the top and be reflected back down.

Berry Why are they keeping you? I have no idea what the letters stood for? Is it for the knee or the heart?

Did not sleep great last night and the BBQ is done. Dinner

 Later, Ken

Evenin' folks!

Janie, I could use a cup of decaf at the moment, please.

Barry!  Never hurt yourself in a hospital!  They have all those nasty super bugs in those places you know....  Well at least you know now.  Do hope they are able to get that controlled and gone quickly!!!  I was worried that was what the infection might be.  Oh, Ken,  (His name is Barry not Berry...  A berry is a kind of fruit like Blueberry, strawberry, huckleberry...)  The letters are not a good thing to have.  They stand for Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).  Bad, bad stuff! http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/mrsa/basics/definition/con-20024479

Had a great time at my Son's house for Granddaughter #2s 7th. Birthday Party tonight.  Will be heading out there tomorrow to give Granddaughter #1 her guitar lesson and have leftovers for dinner...

I didn't tell you folks about the fun time I had at the dentist last Thursday...  I was in the dentist's chair for about two and a half hours...  I found it is not an easy job to have permanent crowns removed!!!  After she drilled for what appeared to be an eternity, she started to yank and pull and twist to get the remains of the 3 crowns off to start over,  At one point the vise grip (or whatever she was using) slipped and nailed the roof of my mouth...  Lots of blood both from that and the gums around the crowns and the drilling.  Took about a half hour just to stop the bleeding...  She did appologize profussly for the tool slipping and hiting the roof of my mouth... Then they took a set of impressions of the major hole now where the teeth used to be.  The first sets of impressions were made before the drilling started.  She managed to put in the temporary crown (this one covers all three teeth).  But in a little over a week I go back to have that removed so she can get final impressions of the holes.  Then it will be two more weeks for the new crowns to arrive.  The assistant mentioned that this difficulty seems to happen every time she works on one of these...  Later in the evening one of the new Committee members at Scouts who happens to be a Dental Hygenist told me.  What I experienced was exactly what people should expect and it was nothing unusual.  Difficult procedure.  So.....  Only thing I can say is the lady dentist gives great shots!  Felt nothing. This type of oral surgery is her specialty and she does almost all that kind of work at the office.  Her husband is the "regular" dentist.  My mouth has already healed up and there has been no pain from the procedure, so I can't complain, I guess.  Price is right as well...  No charge as the badly fitted crowns were done at the same office (former dentist I think for at least one).

I need to clean the kitties litterbox, give them their last bit of food for the day and head out to bed for the night.  Prayers for all in need!  Catch you all later.

J

Evening Diners,

Today was a busy day here. We have our DIL's Mother staying with us and today was the forth birthday of our Grandson and a party was held here through the afternoon.  four othere four year olds and their Mothers, lots of noise , lots of action, no damage fortunately, but so much action I didn't take them down to the train room and my Grandson never asked , so that was good.

After supper I fell asleep for a couple of hours, it was so peaceful and quiet after everyone left.

FRANK,   My condolances to you at the loss of your friend and neighbor, very sad indeed.   BTW.  I am so impressed with your truck modelling and some of your scenes.Very good work Thumbs UpThumbs Up.

Ulrich,  You have done so much with so little.  You and Br. Elias are to be envied as to what you fellas have accomplished.

BARRY.  So sorry to hear you have an infection. I was pulling for you that you would be home on Tuesday.  But now as soon as possible. That is not a fun infection.

YGW.   Glad to hear that you got that big chore out of the way and that you might possibly get some help to ready the property for the train barn.  Also Prayers and best wishes for a successful hospital visit and you are home quickly.

BEAR,  sure like your quotes on Frank's picture.

RAY,  I don't know how you keep your schedule straight.  The number of places you go, and the number of things you do for others, it is mind boggling.  Don't let your health slip.

GARRY,  Hope you get the eagles back, they are sure good at keeping the varmits at bay.

Galaxy,  Hope things improve soon and you can stay out of the hospital.

Well, off to ZZZZzzzzland as I want to get to Church on time tomorrow.  See you guys sometime after that.

Frank with the stripes.....sorry to hear of your friend's passing...Angel for his safe passage....I do hope the image of him lying there eaves you sooner than later!

seems death has vistied many of us in many forms, My close friend's 24 y/o son's suiced{train nut friend} {who is like a brother as well asa  best friend to me}, Sarona Terry's friend committing suicide too, to your friend/neighbor' passing, to other's friends/relatives all passings, death is at the door.....it would seem.

may you be blessed and kept well...

If death isn't visiting, then illness/health problems are visiting the others of us, it would seem...BArry, Ulrich, YGW, Me with pneumonia going on 12 weeks, our esteemed MR. Otte took time off from work {!}, to others in "sick bay" visiting the docs and horse piddles.

No, 2016, and the end of 2015 have not exactly been kind to us all...

Lunchtime!

Just coffee for me, Chloe, I have to go easy on food these days!

I borrowed a long drill bit from my friend Lothar, which enabled me to drill all the way through those 4 inches of foam and plywood. Three little holes, a length of not so felexible plastic tubing to assist in threading the wires through the holes and now the three streetlamps are in place, waiting to be wired up!

Just a short video, which, I think, shows the current state of the layout a little better:

Enjoy!

Henry - people not yet born when the film was made are in their 90th year now, so chances anybody still being alive are not really big. The boys shown in the film most likely did not survive the war and the girls fell victim to the Red Army ...

Going for a snooze now, I didn´t get much sleep last night.

Actually that is the first area to be decorated, but I did do some work on the station platforms. The buildngs were made using Serif PagePlus, printed on an 11x17 color Xerox printer and affixed to the foam to give the buildings some depth. When you cannot afford to buy things you have to make do with your tallend (such as that is.)

Afternoon (puff, puff, puff...) folks,

Chloe, a cup of hot chocolate would hit the spot right now.

Just got home from the fieldhouse.  Did 8 laps today (just under a mile and a half).  I did stop and take a few minute break after the first mile, and then added two more.  Feels good to be back walking again.  They had a girls indoor tennis tournament going on there thi afternoon also.  Will be heading over to my son's house in another half hour or so.  Granddaughter #1 will get her guitar lesson and then we will sit down to leftovers from yesterday...

Looks like the Spring Meet for my NMRA Division is coming together well.  Have enough clinis to fill the morning session.  Have one layout for sure open during the afternoon.  Need to find 2 or 3 more.  There are several I can depend on to open up if I ask them in the area.  Would like to get one or two new ones that people haven't seen.

Church was good this morning...  The sound paneling that we are going to put up in the sanctuary will be arriving tomorrow I guess.  I will be just happen to stop by during the afternoon to check it out.  our accoustics are terrible in the space and it only took me 25 years to convince the "powers that be" to finally do something about it.  Of course we now have a new minister and choir director who both realize what the problem is and that our entire worship experience will be better once that issue is resolved....

Hope all our injured, sick, and under the weather members here are on the mend!

Catch you all later!

Storm Barry and the rest of y'all...MRSA is bad BUT I have been in two hospitals within the past year and there is not even a though about MRSA because they now go further in disinfecting everything. And they wear masks almost all the time especially after a surgery. What I worry about is the DENTIST and there disinfecting of tools, drill, etc. I am in San Diego. Sunny san diego! NOT! We are finally getting the el nino back. It rained last night and we have a drip coming down. Now for storm #2...Thats this evening thru Monday. Expect about 1-2 inches of rain where I live. I am about 3 miles away from the beach. Cowboy

 Evening Dinners

Flo, Beer please and give Cowboy Ben a brew on me. Welcome

Mystery's of Model Railroading. OK, I do understand many of the reason that will cause a derailment, picking of turnout and just plain bad things that happen. The one mystery I cannot wrap my mind around is why a train can get through a turnout 2 times, then derail on the 3rd time around? Whistling Why can't they dreail all the time, be easier to find the problem! And of corse it will be in the most hard to get to and most poorly lite area of the layout. Sigh

Cleaning the work bench / desk. Moved the RIP Track from a top of my scanner too behinde my chair sitting on top of a box from work. Part of the mess is paper work I need to scan and save on the computer. While it was a small step, it was a step! While moving stuff I did find my shrink wrap tubing! Yes

Think I will watch Major Dad on U-Tube.

The wife got back from whatever and asked what I'd done with myself today.  To my surprise, the answer was "mostly train stuff."  I think I've been stuck considering how to proceed, and now I'm over that hump.  I started work on the scenic cover for the staging tracks the other day, and now it's just moving along and progressing.

I found a couple of parts to an unfinished Rix switch stand a couple of weeks ago, scattered on the floor.  I searched around, found most of the parts but I knew something was missing.  Today I found it, sitting right were it belonged on the plywood board I keep in the trainroom for doing projects on the coffee table.  It was the only part that had NOT fallen to the floor.

The cold is still with me, but today I felt well enough to go to the supermarket and make us up a hearty dinner of veal and eggplant Parmesan, with pesto linguini and broccoli.  Yumm.  It felt good to be cooking again, too.

Chloe, a bowl of water for my dog and a crispy creme for me (and maybe my dog).

So we adopted a dog from the rescue center and he is pretty good, Likes train layouts and and loves the different whistles. His name is "Mickey"

So my layout is good, but the house may end up in chaos. Poop and the other things all over the place.

He takes us for a walk not the other way around.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, I could sure use a pot of decaf, yes the french roast stuff, for my FGLK Mug (Finger Lakes Railway) http://www.fingerlakesrail.com/  Please and Thank You Ma'am!

Have been busy with odds and ends needing to get done since I got home from my Son's house tonight.  Nice sunny day here in the Finger Lakes Region so it was a pleasant day even if a bit chilly.  The solar panels had the best day so far of 2016 churning out over 20 kWh of power.  That could be the first day this year where the panels have produced more power than the house used, or at least fairly close to that.  Got quite a bit done for the NMRA meet in April.  Basically the morning program is all set...  Just need to arrange it (who does what when) and get it on paper.  I have a big box or two in one of the spare bedrooms of old cars and other items for the door prizes for the meet.  I need to get them out and see what is in there.  Also need a few more layouts for the afternoon tours.  So pretty much a productive day around here.

Hope all of you have a good evening and a restful night.  Prayers for all in need of them!

Good evening ..

Cowboy Ben .... Welcome to the Diner. ... San Diego, eh ? ... We were there a little over a year ago. Don't get there often. I like the model train layouts in Balboa Park.

YGW ... Thinking of you as you enter the hospital for tests and procedures Tuesday. (I think that's the day) . Praying all goes well .

Barry .... 101 temp? ... Not good if you hope to be discharged soon.

Ken ... Sometimes I have similar problems where derailments are inconsisant. Sometimes the trin pases by with no deraillments, and next time it derails. Usually it is caused by a slight imperfection in the track. As soon as you find it, you can fix it. ... A like the photo of the steam powered train leaving St Louis Union Station.

JohnBoy ... Sounds like a nice family get together.

Church this morning was unusual. There was a wedding as part of the church service. That's what the couple wanted to do, and so that's what was done. It definately was a red neck wedding.

Hello all

Nice weekend here in the Ol' Pueblo.

Ulrich - that's a good synopsis of the RMS Mauretania. She was a beautiful ship.

Frank - my thoughts and prayers for you and your friend's family

We tested both the sanders on the 1924 Brill trolley Friday and both work fairly well (I volunteer w/ a local historical trolley/bus group). Been one of my projects, but like a lot of things w/ the car, it was the work of many.

Worked on getting a couple of the buses in the collection running yesterday. The '89 RTS still wont run on it's own fuel. Going to talk to a friend who works on the modern fleet about it. On the '73 GM 'fishbowl' we replaced an air pressure regulator and finally got air to the suspension system, but then found that the front air bags have leaks. We will have to tow that one to the new location.

Today I helped a friend unstick the back seats in his Rav4. Then replaced the ignition model in the Datsun and installed the new license plate. Also started assembly of the bearing units for my '65 4dr Corvair that I will be selling soon.

Oh, and I ran trains last night:)

Time for a late night cup of tea.

Weather was nice this afternoon and had a nice walk with the new dog.  She is fitting in well.  Went to the local dog park yesterday to see how she does off a leash.  She knew to come when called by name and the command to come.  I think she is a winner.

Did a little more work on laying homosote road bed this afternoon.  Have enough ties glued down for another three feet of track and two turnouts.

YGW, best of luck on your hospital visit Tuesday and prayers for speedy recover from the procedure.

Barry, hope the doctors are successful in clearing up the MSRA soon.

Galaxy, healing prayers for your continuing respiratory problems.

Steve Otte, hope your wife is on the mend.

Enjoyed the final episode of Downton Abbey tonight.  Really got hooked on English history since first watching the first episode four years ago.  In fact, I have signed up for a course on early British history through the local Institue for Learning in Retirement which starts two Friday's from now.

Good night to all.

Good morning diners,

I got my Rix products Roadway instead of my original order on some traffic barriers. So it doesn't really matter because I didn't't have the road before, and it was cheaper than the other three people were selling. I decided to write to Rix if their still making guard rails. I might get an answer later on today or later this week.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of raison bran cereal with skim milk and a pot of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast coffee for my FGLK Mug, please...

Sun is trying to shine here in the Finger Lakes again today.  Currently 54°F out there.  Just about at the high for today.  The weather people tell me it is cloudy outside.  Hmmmmmmm.....

I need to go over to STAPLES to get a couple more large black cartriges for my Canon printer.  Don't think I have enough to get the newsletter printed for the 20 or so people in the Division who haven't quite (and never will) gotten into the 21st. century yet.  Lucky, they just sent me a coupon for 15% off on ink purchase.  I'll be recycling a bunch of cartriges when I go over too.

Found one piece of Poetry that didn't make it back to the school.  I'll stop at that school on my way to the pharmacy to pick up my Diabettes med this afternoon.  Tonight I'm going to try to pay a visit to my other troop...  Haven't done my visitation there in a few months, so it is overdue.  Might even find a few minutes to do some scenery on the layout.

Wonder how Barry is doing today.  Hope the IV meds are doing the job!

My quote for today: "The really good idea is tracable back quite a long way, often to a not really good idea which sparked off another idea that was only slightly better, which somebody else misunderstood in such a way that they then said something which was really rather interesting." - John Cleese

Have a great one out there, and don't bug our nice moderator!  He has enough to do already....  Hi Steven!

The really good idea is always traceable back quite a long way, often to a not very good idea which sparked off another idea that was only slightly better, which somebody else misunderstood in such a way that they then said something which was really rather interesting.

Hello

All getting ready to go in for the procedure tomorrow at 11am. Calling venders letting them know I will be out, made a list for my helper, made another list for the VP. Informed family...... I am sure the procedure will go well, did last time, I am actually looking forward to being in for three or four days with nothing to do but catch up on my MRR & NMRA Magazines, talking to you all on the forum....

I wonder if they will let me work on a few kits while I am in there ? Hmmm wonder who I ask about that ?

Angel - what is MT CR ?

Galaxy continued Angel for your health. Buddy Hackett I havent heard that name in years. He was so funny ! Parsimany - I will have to remember that one - I have been called "frugal" a time or two.

Bob - what trains did you run ? Man that is a LOT of vehicle work !

V8 - WHAT ???!!! Dont curse like that around here - "robust yard" oh my ! Whistling sounds like you will be mowing soon !

Garry - I go in Tuesday at 11am. Keep MOH in prayer. Her first husband she lost to a heart attack ( while she was preganant with their daughter when he passed ) and when I gave her the news of what the docs said she started crying really hard. I reassured her it would be okay, but you know women they just worry to much.

Howmus - Oh, that is what it stands for. Thanks. I looked at the website. Nice photos. I was impressed with the depots. Man they are built nice.

Chris - Crispy Creme ! Dinner I have never been there but apparently somewhere in Alexandria Va. they make them fresh daily and you can drive by there and get fresh hot crispy creme donuts at a drive thru window at the donut factory ! I am putting that on my bucket list !!!

Mr. B - sound like an AWSOME DAY if you did "mostly train stuff" YesYes yep thats a two thumbs up day !

Cuda - did you see my PM ?

Jim - Thanks.

Ulrich - you okay ? used to seeing you here in our early morning.

Lion, Up831, Der...hello and good morning !

Steve WROTE " Is that really necessary?" LOL I thought when I read Galaxys comment I wonder how Steve is going to respond to THAT ! Hope you have a good day.

Well gotta git back to the ole grind.

YGW,

You have the right idea - the glazed donut hot off the assembly line is the way to go. They have lots of other donuts but a hot glazed is the BEST. The cappucccino coffee aint bad either - if you have a low expectancy level. But the two seem to go together well.

Chris.

Loco Guy - is a state of mind - not an affinity to locomotives.

Sit back and enjoy your track...

Good Afternoon!

Ulrich - you okay ? used to seeing you here in our early morning.

Not really - I got my results today and they leave me with a lot to chew on. I am not the most communicative fellow today, so please excuse me just staying in the backbooth for a while, contemplating life´s finiteness.
