ulrich sorry to hear the news. As somebody who suffers from anxiety and panic attacks my doctor also suggest that I try to just relax and not sweat small things in life.
not much plan for today, as it's already 26c but feeling like 35c. A good chance we can get some storms later in the day. I have that job interview tomorrow. Maybe it's a good thing it's right before the holiday weekend, they might be in a good mood, lol
well I think I may go make a good breakfast and play some table top baseball and baseball on the PS3
Good Afternoon, Folks!
Well, I don´t know whether your afternoon will be a good one - I hope it´ll be - but mine isn´t. My cardiologist was not happy with the results from the check-up, nor was I. To cut a long story short, he told me if I intend to hang around much longer, I´d better adopt an even more leisurely approach to my life. I suspect this means an end to whatever I have been enjoying so far. Believe me, over the years this has become a rather short list!
In any case, it also means I won´t be engaging into any bigger project. My activities will circle around sustaining my life and, weather permitting, go feed the ducks in the local park.
This has come as a tremendous shock, despite the fact I hadn´t been feeling well for some time now.
I will do some MRRing, though, but very small scale (not in terms of size, but complexity) - something like a scenic toy train set-up. Just for those days I can´t sit on the bench in the park and feed the ducks .
If I am lucky and my friend Lothar agrees to do most of the work (if not nearly all), this set-up could be like this:
No, I am not happy about the latest development
Good morning ..
Tdoay is my birthday, but no celebrating today. I'm busy getting ready to drive to Michigan tomorrow. Saturday, there will be a family get-together combining celebrations of birthdays and anniversaries. One of the anniversaries is ours which is Saturday.
I have a lot to do today, but hope to find time to complete my rural grain elevator this afternoon.
Happy Model Railroading, everybody .....

YGW Good luck on the up coming test. Just be glad the VA is not doing it, they would use a 12 volt battery and jumber cables from WWII. Far as inspectors, I had to deal with them when I opened New Body Shops when I was a area supervisor. Springfeild ILL was the worst, had everything done the way they said after, 1st and 2nd inspection. On opening day, they shut me down? Seems I did not get there hints, $500.00 later I was open again.
Richard, now think of it the it happened to me. You walk into Sears by your self at 3 mintues before closing and tell the same guy "My wife wants a new oven" and she is not with you?
People in glass houses should not throw stones. Well that is something my wife does not understand!
Remember last year when I posted about Tony a neighbor was letting his Boxer run free? Sue is deathly afraid of the dog and told Tony that in around about way last year. Other night she took Sparkie The Rocket Dog out and guess who was walking his Boxer with no leash? Yep, Tony. The dog ran into our yard and Sue draged Sparkie and ran into the house.
Guess who called Aminal Control? In someways I don't blame her, well I really don't he is in the wrong. When I had Wolfhounds (180 pounds) I all wise walked them on a lead. While they would walk with me with out a lead I knew people would be worried about a 180 pound dog.
Reason I am worried? My house is a zoning nightmare.
1 16 foot of fence still missing.
2 Inground pool looks like a swamp with 6 foot tall plants living in it.
3 Backyard still could hide a platton of Vietcong. It was a division last year.
4 68 Road Runner is out side and look's like a POS and no plates.
Tony all ready thinks my wife called aminal control. (they don't give names out) and told Dwight he thought so and told him to tell her to come to his house, "he want's to talk to her".

i may just have to get one...
oh PS: no word on the house yet, we looked at another one, but on second htought it might have too many problems to crop up. The problem is hte seller on the one we want want a seller's market pricce, whwn we are clearly in a buyer's market! We can "command our price" so to speak..i mean think about it, in over 3 months listed , and 2 open houses, OURS is the ONLY offer they've had! They would do well to think twice before rejecting our latest!
oh well,
this too, shall pass.
we hsall see what we sahll see when we shall see it...
RideOnRoad While we were there, my wife showed me a $5000 refridgerator. $5000!?! For that kind of money it better not only store the food; it better order the food from the store and prepare it when it gets to the house! Edit: It looks like I am in the pole position so the drinks (and breakfast and lunch and dinner and pie and...) are on me. I hope the dinner takes monopoly money; after unexpectedly buying an oven, I am a little tapped out.

Um, actually, They DO make fridges that WILL keep track of contents AND order form a store, IF you have such in your area!
SO except the cooking the food part {you can get ovens that will start and cook just before you get home} you are spot on in some areas!
What won't they think of next???
Ken: I thought about you last night. We went to Sears to get a new double wall oven. (Two ovens, not two walls.) As the young guy was finishing up our order, I asked him if he was on commission. He responded that he was, and that this purchase made his day. All he had for the day was an ugly return. At thirty minutes to close, we waltzed in and bought a $2000 oven. It was nice to play the part of the hero, even if it was because our oven broke.

Sir Madog yougottawanta Good news and bad news on cardio doc. Good news no structural issues with the ole ticker. Bad news is there is a permanent electrical problem. The doc wants to try shocking my chest to get the electric in the heart corrected plus shove something down my throat to see it from the inside. Have any of you all had this performed and what was it like ? Been there and done that! The procedure is, to say the least, not really a pleasant one, but there are things worse. I just wonder how they want to get into your heart from your throat. In my case the went through one of the big veins in my thigh.

I had a cardio cath done too. They said "it must be blocked at least 85% or we don't do anything"...I said well, don't you think while you are in there, that you should DO something if it is only 75% blocked? They siad NO, ONLY 85% or more.
The worst part was, afterwards I had a 'collagen plug installed" that supposedly sealed up the hole in my thigh, and then had to lie there flat on my back for 5 hours, during which they served dinner, mushy stuff like mashed potatoes and gravy, which i could not eat lying down!
I thought the whole shindig was a waste...
Nothing much today, I bought a Union Pacific AC4400CW and a BNSF SD70ACe from two different stores.

Good evening everyone.
Ulrich at first I didnt get the joke ( I was what ? that doesnt make sense ! ) until I scrolled down and saw the picture then the light bulb went on. Thanks Funny : ) Hope you feel better.
Ken - People can be so aggravating. If you think your customers are bad you should try dealing with inspectors in teh Fire dept. They are "stupid as stupid does" . I could go on and on about how out of touch they are with the real world like for instance the IRC code states that the frost depth here in this area is 30" But nope they look at some chart some dingbat has made up and they say it has to be four feet deep ? !! What heck just two years ago it was only 2 feet deep and Ale Gore and Obooomba is saying the world is getting warmer ! Now how can that be and teh frost depth is getting deeper here ? - yep there is a real disconnect going on.
Garry - thanks it was good news bad news type of appointment.
Galaxy - Fribble ? Now that is interesting. See above my comments to Ken. Can fribble apply to them ?
Flip - What rocket did you see go up ?

Evening, Folks!
Haven´t been feeling up to snuff all day long today! It´s not only that ear pestering me, it´s the old ticker acting up again. I am having this dull pain in my chest which really starts to worry me. Tomorrow will be hospital day - ear and heart need getting fixed.
I think I´d better stop dreaming of building a layout - even the small one seems awfully big when I am not feeling well. All I want is something to play with, something to get my mind set on other things. Something like this maybe?
I think that I can manage to build something like it - with a lot of help from my MRRing friend Lothar. Nothing fancy, crazy track plan, but somehow "cute" - and less than 3 by 4ft.
Something more realistic to dream about ...
Ray - where I spent the best time of my life (Bainbridge Island, WA) watching the submarine races had a meaning I am not allowed to explain here. It was certainly a popular Friday night thing to do

Afternoon guys
just had a big rain storm move through and now things are really muggy out there. I'm off this week and part of next but have a job interview on Friday afternoon so wish me luck. The pay is good and it's straight days. Not much planned for time off but too relax and take it easy. I plan on playing some table top baseball after and want to work on the layout. I tried to post earlier but it got lost, funny why my internet acts up in the intense heat of summer.
inch53RAY,,, I use to take my dates down on the Wabash to watch the subs race. One evening a log came floatin down with part of a limb sticking up, she said oh look there’s a periscope……
ROFL!!!
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have Organic Granola with fresh picked Blueberries and a large pot of Marrakesh Exp[ress Dark Roast Coffee to start the day. Thank you Ma'am!
Hazy 81°F outside at the moment here in the Finger Lakes region of NYS. High will be 85° under mostly sunny skies. Right now the haze hasn't completely burned off.
Will be doing some odds and ends most of the day. Have Boy Scout Roundtable this evening. I'm continueing to just watch Manét as he seems to be a bit better than he was a few days ago. May make an appointment at the vets to have him checked out though.
Have a great day out there!

howmus about a new sport?
about a new sport?
We watch it from our home. We're about 50/60 miles from where it's launched. The sound from the rocket must be deafening. Bad enough when the T/S boomers go off and the house shakes.
Good morning everybody.
Flip, it must be amazing to see one of those rockets going up.
Watched rocket go up. Haze slight so didn't block view.

You Can't Help Stupid
Ken
Ken, you misunderstood the situation. That WAS NOT his wife in the Jeep SUV, It was his MISTRESS!!!
Flo Please
I am in a foul mood tonight, I hate stupid customers! At 4 minutes till closing Jeep SUV pull up to the store. Old Fart (well I am a old fart as well, but he was older) came in. He wanted to look at queen sizes mattress for him and is wife, she was not there.
OK, that not a buying sighn but I went at it. Took him to a King Koil Pillow top set for $629.99, he asked me how tall was it. Answer is 22". He said there was 22" and his wife has a hard time getting in and out of it. So I explained I have box springs that will lower it 2" to 5". Asked me "What eles to you have"? Asked him if he like to try it? He said no, what eles do you have?
With out him trying the mattress what do you do? I told him all ready I can lower the mattress up 5" with driffrent box spring, what does he want to do look at 52 driffrent mattress? Guess when he said look at Queen sets he did mean just look at them! Plus with out his wife being there to see if she could get in and out of the bed what am I going to do to get the deal? Store Grand Father clock started chimming 8:00 PM so he started shuffling to the door and I followed.
Howdy ...
Ulrich ... Thanks for starting September Diner.... The photo of the diner is really remarkable. ... I like your track plans. Looks like fun just doing the track plans.

Getting ready for a trip to Michigan soon.

Happy Model Railroading
Hi Everyone...haven't been on since last January with the move, the new job and all....just wanted to get a cup of java and a slice of apple pie to go. hope to have some posts together real soon.
I love what cousin Vinnie has done to the place in honor of Running Bear.....have a great day everyone....

There's no place like ~/ ;)
Have you not sometimes wondered, what Jeffrey´s Trackside Diner looks like?
Well, here is a recent photograph:
Janie is on duty today, and she took the liberty of naming the place "Jane´s Diner". Cousin Vinnie is that lackadaisical figure sitting on the right side of the porch - I am the bloke with the coffee mug in his hand, sitting on the bench in front of the porch.
Bedtime is coming up - CU all tomorrow!
Not much going on now. School is starting here in Michigan and everything is crazy.I might order a GM EMD SW-1 and paint it to its origional Pere Marquette colors and running a diesel instead of steam for a change. But other than that not much going on. Did find a couple of websites to help me model the Pere Marquette, and here they are.
