Afternoon folks!

Janie, just a glass of iced tea to tide me over to supper.  Will need to go husk the sweet corn soon....

Mister B, great report from the doctor.  Keep up the good work!

Brother Elias, it took me a while to locate where the lion was hiding in your post today......

I have spent some time trying to look at possible locations for the NMRA Divisions Fall meet.  So far everything I have looked at is too small or way too expensive for us....  I just just sent an email to the other officers and a couple others that are advisors to me too see what they might be able to come up with.  I'm hoping we might be able to get a room at a local church or something of that nature.  We have been to the Rochester Club recently and I like to move the locations around.  Getting close to the edit on it.........

Manét seems to already be walking a bit further and better, although he has mostly just s;lept on the carpet in the dining room all day....  Haven't heard anything yet from the vet.  Probably won't now until Tuesday.

Catch you all later!

Good Afternoon,

It has been a while since my last visit so I thought I should put in an appearance and get some of that great food they serve here, not to mention the great company.

Well it has been very wet here and hot with a lot of showers. We had a real downpour yesterday that found a problem with a basement window well that decided to overflow into the basement. We were able to clean it up ok but now I will have to find a solution that hopefully won't mean getting the foundation dug up.

Nothing on the RR front here, except that I just placed an order for a a RPO and a sleeper for the N scale layout. I have a list of things to get done on it and I 'gearing up' so hopefully the motivation will come.

We finally picked up the new TV last week but it is still in the box. The issue is getting the old one off the stand. It is a heavy rascal and my wife can't help at all what with her back problems. I have a wheeled cart but I will have  to pick it up and swing it over to the cart. I hope I'm up to it. All my friends have back problems so I really don't have anyone I can call for assistance.

We have been going out every Wednesday morning bright and early for birding and breakfast at a nearby nature conservancy. I have really enjoyed getting out. The leaders are keen birders and their enthusiasm is very infectious. I'm not a keen birder but just an interested one. The site is an old quarry that still has some rail lines in it. I was excited to find it is 85lb. rail dated 1921 laid by CP. No one else seemed to share my excitement, funny that.

Ever get a song on your brain and you just can't shift it. My fault for listening to oldies on Youtube. The offender is 'Lovers Question' by Clyde McPhatter.

Garry, a belated Happy Birthday, hope your day was nice.

I see Galaxy is off on an adventure today. Nice!

Well soon time to fire up the grill. We are doing chicken in pita with zatziki sauce. Hopefully it doesn't rain. Even if it does I'll drag the BBQ under the eaves and grill anyway. It won't take long, only about 5-6 minutes to do thin chicken breast.

I too would like to hear from some of guys who used to drop into the diner but I guess some just move on. I sometimes wonder how they are doing. Haven't heard from Chris in a long time. Wonder how Rerun is doing.

i agree inch best time of year. I love when football starts. Baseball playoffs will be starting soon along with hockey. It may be 40c here but fall is in the air. I'm not the biggest college football fan but will not usually have it on if there is no baseball game on.

Happy long weekend!

I finally have my computer up and running again.  I've had a couple of issues, not related.  The first was a disk problem caused by a power failure.  I had to get a special boot disk and run chkdsk on my hard drive, but that did fix it.  A short time later, it got very warm (the weather, that is) and I think that may have caused an intermittent problem I've had with my graphics card.  A couple of days ago I removed the card, and then this morning when it was nice and cool again, I put the card into a different slot and powered up.  It worked.  Yay!

Now, where was I?  I had a follow up with my doctor a week or so back.  He looked me in the eye and said, "I treat a lot of people with type 2 diabetes like you, and I've seldom seen such a dramatic improvement in blood sugar levels.  You get a gold star for your forehead."  I've been getting a lot of good exercise, and that appears to be the key.  I was afraid he was going to increase the meds, but he kept them the same and told me to keep up the good work.

No, he didn't actually give me a gold star for my forehead.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of Vanilla Almond Organic Granola with fresh Bluberries and a pot of Marrakesh Express Dark Roast Coffee for my FGLK Mug this morning.

Sun is trying to shine outside this morning. Currently 80°F on its way up to 87°F here in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS.  Good day to stay in side and enjoy the air conditioning (powered by the nice sunshine falling on the roof...).

Manét got his first insulin shot this morning.  He jumped and gave me a look like, "What was that for, Daddy?"  I gave him lots of head scratching and lovin' after.  Hopefully he will be as good as his brother has been getting the daily dose.  Still haven't heard about his blood work....  May not hear anything until next Tuesday.

Other than getting some Division (NMRA) business done and driving over to the Mennonite store for some items, I haven't got much planned for today.  May even get back to working on the bridge I started to build last January for the layout.

Have a great day and weekend out there!

Good morning folks....

Enought time for a short stack and a side of bacon Flo, if you would.

I have some fence repairs to do; the trash truck bashed the chain link top rail in the alley and if you don't catch them in the act, it's on you :( Got a 10' piece of rail and I have to fix it today.

Hope everyone has a happy and safe Labor Day weekend.....

Good Morning!

Looks like we are getting a wet weekend! If our weather guessers are right, Summer is gone for the year and won´t be coming back. I do hope we will have some nice days before Winter gets its grip on us again.

Participation in this thread has reached an all-time low - only 6 posts in total yesterday! It´s good to see some folks have returned, but the list of the MIA´s is getting longer and longer. As it seems, interest in chatting with friends and sharing the day is waning. I´d really hate to see this place go - I already heard Cousin Vinnie mumbling about it´s not paying off to keep this place open, better to close it and retire to Florida.

I don´t think we want this to happen!

 Afternoon Dinners

Flo, Beer Beer and more Beer Beer, I earned them today.

I love it when a plan comes together! While I still a far away from being done I can see some results on the Fence Front. Got out 6 wheelbarrows loads of gravel out, cut out a 4" tree stump and it roots, removed some more rotted fence boards, cut down some more small trees and draged them out front, built the first section of Ground Treated 2"X4"X 8' Retaining Wall and have it roughly in places braced with cement blocks.

I hope after work Saturday to start to get the retaing wall a little deeper and level. I will tell you this, two 2x10x8 and 2x4 brace are heavy!

 See you all later

Mornin'.........

Zoe, just another large pot of Dark Roast Coffee please..............

I have already made two trips to the vet this morning.  First one was to drop off the urine for tests.  I no sooner arived back in the house when I got a call from the vet (The Friday vet is a retired lady who works there on Friday only usually).  Manét is definately gone diabetic and also has a urinary tract infection (common with diabetes that is not treated).  So I had catch Manét and take him over for an antibiotic injection.  Manét is not a happy kittie!  I am to start him on the same amount of insulin that his brother gets tomorrow morning.  Then I will call on Tuesday for further directions.  I should hear from the regular vet over the weekend to see if the bloodwork showed any other problems.  Hopefully it is only the Diabetes!

Overcast and humid here in the Finger Lakes Region this morning.  Cool though.  Temperature outside is 74°F right now and will get hot this afternoon (was 70 when I first went over to the vets).  No rain in the forecast so I guess I will need to start hauling water out to the garden.  Most everything is showing stress from it being dry.

Ulrich, I like that mini layout design!  I'll get to watch the movie in a little while.  Blackie is begging for his morning food...

Catch you all later!

Good Afternoon, Gang!

It´s a gray day here, but I´ll try not to be let down by this. Did some more fidlling with the plan - no changes, just for the fun of playing with the software.

I even made a video out of the various snapshots:

Listen to the sound of the Swiss mountains! Whistling

I just received word from my Swiss friend, that he is sending me the track I need for this layout. There may be the odd piece of track missing, but that should not be an issue. Now I will try to persuade my local friend to build the benchwork for the layout ...

Have a good one, Folks!

Good Friday morning everyone...I'll just have a cup of java and an english muffin this morning Flo; not feeling really hungry this morning. Been up since 4:30 for some reason I couldn't sleep and the cat was all over me for her daily does of tuna fish...that's mom's job however and she wouldn't let up.

Looks like its shaping up to be a nice day today...70 degrees right now, looking for a high of 97.

I put a 1 X 6 across the patio layout so the cat can finally get to the window; so now the repair work is on. The additions to the newest backdrop are coming along and I hope to finish it this weekend.

There's also a trip to the BNSF station in town for some pictures in the plans for the weekend. It's been closed for quite some time and it's fenced off, so it should be a challenge.

Have a great day no matter what's going on in your world.....

Mission accomplished!

Oh....  Evenin' folks!  Janie, just a refil for the decaf please.

One thing I was supposed to do was to get a urine sample from Manét for the vet....  Right!  How do you get a urine sample from a kitty cat....   Even the vet figured it might be iffy.  She has a product that can be put into an empty litterbox where after the cat pees the urine isn't absorbed and you just pour it into a sterile container she gives me.  I told her to let me see what I could do first....

Just a few minutes ago the kitties came begging for their evening canned food....  I found a plastic cookie container in the recycling box that would be the right size to put just outside the litter box if Manét would co-operate and miss the edge of the box and pee on the floor like he does half of the time anyway.  So I feed them there nightly meal and Blackie heads to the litterbox right after eating.  No problem, he always turns around and sticks his head out the door on the box and uses the back of the box....  Manét was still finishing off his (and the tail end of his Brother's) canned food at that time.  Sure enough as soon as Blackie leaves the box Manét climbs in and starts to pee....  Of course he , this time is getting it all inside the box, so cookie tray in hand I reach over and pull his tail raising his hind end so he is peeing outside the box...  Right into the cookie tray....  Got a good speciman, poured it into a clean pill bottle and it is now in the refrigerator ready to take to the Vet tomorrow....  Mission Accomplished!

Hey Janie, how about a couple chocolate cookies to go with the decaf?  What?  Yes I washed my hands!  Sheesh!

Have a great night all.

Flo, give me and the Buick guy a Beer Please

Garry Happy Birthday! Happy B-Day What are you now, 55? Smile, Wink & Grin

Ulrich my friend. Sorry to hear about your ticker.  Hope you find some way to lower your stress level.

Health Front Went to the VA Leg and Ulicher clinic today. Seems the foot is heald once again! Got out pretty fast, I was there only 40 minutes

Rest of the day off. It was hot! Devil 97 dergrees beat me up pretty bad today. Did a little need running and then went to Lowe's and picked up my 4 Ground Conatct Rated 2'X10"x8' and a 2"X4"X8' normal pressured treated lumber.

Used the Strap On Roof Rack I bought from Advances Auto. Stock hold down brackets and straps where junk! Bought some cheap $3.99 straps from Harbor Freight, now it seems safe. Bought a 4 pack Tie Dow straps as well to hold the lumber. While I got home OK, the lumber did slide on the rack. I am going to add some none slip tape to the rack bars.

 See you ll later

Afternoon folks!

Chloe, a tall glass of ice cold lemonade would be very nice right now.  Currently 85°F and humid outside here in the Finger Lakes Region.

I just got home from taking Manét to the vets.  He is not a happy kittie.....  He had a blood sample drawn and she is doing a complete blood work up on him.  (CBC w/Differential, Complete Chemistry Panel, and a Thyroid T4)  I told her what he has been doing and she put him on the floor to have him walk over to me....  said, Uh-huh!  Asked me if he is related to Blackie?  I said , "yep, littermates."  She nods her head.  She thinks he is going Diabetic.  That would be the best guess at this point.  Says the way he is walking points strongly to diabetes.  I am supposed to get a urine sample from him here at home....  Yep, good luck on that.  She was supposed to give me a sterile container to put it in.  I will have to go back over I guess as I left before she came out with it.

Oh well....  At least if it turns out to be diabetes, it is treatable and won't really cost anything as I have to throw out half of the insulin for Blackie every two months anyway....  The needles cost about 20¢ apiece.  Think I can afford that....

Rob, Love the steam tractor video!  There is a steam pagent every August just outside Canandaigua, NY that usually have a bunch of them up and working at some job.  They even stage a "Slow" race every year.  The winner is the tractor that completes the course in the most time but never actually stops moving.  Fun!

Later!

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, just need a refill on the dark roast coffee to get me through to lunch time....

Just got off the phone with the vets office....  Decided to get Manét checked out.  He is no worse than he was , but still just isn't acting right.  So, hopefully she will find out what is going on and it will be something we can treat!

We need some rain here in the Finger Lakes.  My garden is getting a bit stressed from lack of water and I am still waiting on the plumber to get over here to fix the outside faucet.  I may take a few buckets of water out to give it a wetting later today.

Have a great day people!

Good morning everyone....I have time for breakfast today, so I'll have bisquits & gravy with a side of sasuage patties and a cup of joe. The mrs. keeps harping me about taking my pills and not eating Wink

It's a beautiful morning here in S.W. Oklahoma, and after a couple of honey do's, it's off to finish a new backdrop for the larger layout and string some barbed wire along side of the patio layout to keep the cat from walking on it to get to the window...
