Good Morning Diners,

Flo, I'll have an extra gigante cup of coffee with boo coo cream, please.

Cats and dogs and bears, oh my!

Hey, where's Galaxy?  Hope everything is OK.

Nothing exciting to report train wise.  Things are kind of routine right now.  Weather has cooled off a bit, but at least it's not that below zero stuff.

Ken:  If you are that discouraged by your work,  may I submit that it might be time to start considering other options.  Dunno, but I have been there and when one starts getting dissatisfied with their work, a bad attitude will set in towards it, and once that happens, it's just a matter of time.....  Hope that's not the case.

well, have to go to work myself.

I hope everyone is OK, safe, and warm.

Less is more,...more or less!

Good morning all!

Not much to report from the land of Buckeyes other then its windy and rather chilly this morning.

Gerry,Once the weather warms my  arthritis  will ease up until fall-change of seasons..

Yesterday I changed out couplers on my new Atlas/Trainman Family Line cabooses and painted the wheel faces a rusty color-I use rail brown for that.Looks odd to see C&O Magor cabooses painted up in Family Lines but, they are good looking cabooses.I can live with that until somebody produces a correct  SCL caboose in plastic..

I shall have a cup and look over da forum.

Have a good'un!

In may places they are required so that fire sprinklers can reach all of the shelves.

Sir Madog
Much to my dismay my flat screen monitor decided to quit the service after only 12 years (grin). Now I have to get used to looking at the built-in screen of my notebook, which is less than half the size. Thank goodness I´ve got my new beepers, without them I would not be able to read a thing on the screen.

LCD monitors that old were backlighted with flourscent lights. Usually the gremlin is the capacitors on that power supply. You can pry open the screen and see which capacitors are bulged at the top. Those are the ones you replace, and it *might* work again. Some that I have fixed worked for several more years, some only a few months and I gave up on them.

Newer LCD monitors have LED backlighting, they are thinner, run much cooler and have fewer parts to die on you. They are cheap enough, but replacing the capacitiors is just a matter of a few cents.

Hope everyone is well.....trying to keep plugging and doing better!

Had to go to the VA today and I'm doing great She said for a guy going on 73 this year, but She wants me to have another Colonoscopy, (yuck) will be my fourth, so I know the routine, but I hear it is easier for the prep. now.

Then took a walk over to the ECC building, (Exstended Care Center)where I was a volunteer for three yrs. sad to say....some guy's I knew are gone now, but some were still there and I made ther'e day.....I brought my Boxer with me....You are allowed to bring dogs there, I have a slight advantage, cause I'm still considered a volunteer. Anyway everyone had a ball, including ''Spooky'' being a clown, as usual. So now we are both tired. Walking, gets to me lately, my calfs.

Take Care! Big Smile

Hey Everyone,

I feel disappointed, I called three different post offices and none of them wants to help. I was hoping to find the package that went off radar two weeks ago, but they brush it to tell me to contract the company that I ordered from.

I believe I told you guys Saturday I was going to call on Monday to track down my missing NYC double door boxcar. Anyway my brother was right. They want to help you with some things but not everything. So I contacted the company and see what's going to happen.

Hey all

Jeremy - that just stinks. Especially with a lot of LHS closing. It is so nice to go someplace and actually hold the product before purchase. This year it appears the Green berg train show has added a second train show back into the line up : ) !

Richard - hope you heal quicker. Recovery time seems to last twice as long as regular time.

Ulrich - That moniter didnt owe you thing !!! 12 years wow

Mr. Beasly - WHAT I CANNOT HEAR YOU OVER THE COMPRESSOR WHAT DID YOU SAY ?

Garry - I hate those stinking wire shelves and think they should be banished to hardware purgatory

Larry - Good afternoon !

Jim - Congrats on grand daughter and her dance competitions

Ken - I thought you should have started looking for another job long ago. What is keeping you in that place ?

Well folks good news. We will be moving to our new ( to us new ) home on the 1st. After we get all set up in the new place I can start the N&W YGW railoroad empire. Already have a room all picked out !!! We have had our Angel answered. The loan is all set up. Power ready to switch over. We have purchased a used Kubato diesal 4 wheel drive tractor with finish mower, bush hog, trailer and plow for $2500 ! This is to mow the fields. It seems like all is ready to go and falling into place like a well run RR . It has been amazingly simple and easy. Very surprised by teh smoothness of it all. I guess that is what Angel do for you.

To all those not feeling well with hurt backs, shoulders and whatever else ails you here is a Angel for you.

Italian roast coffee in a SUNNY SOUTHERN mug, please.

***Jim, CONGRATS to your granddaughter.

***Richard, that would be frustrating. And good luck with the ballasting.

***Ray, like the old pic of Blackie.

Caught the edge of a severe thunderstorm here early this morning. Haven't walked the farm yet to check on everything. Sunny out now.

Need to paint and finish up a new base for a utility sink. It never has drained well, so I'm raising it up a few inches, which should solve the problem.

Have a good day all.

mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of the Organic Heritage Flake Granola cereal and a cup (maybe three) of Seneca Lake Blend Dark roast coffee in my R&GV RR mug please....

As Barry would say, "Dark and Gloomy" outside the window here in the Finger Lakes today.  Currently 53°F with a high of 60°F, maybe, later this afternoon.  Barry, I can just visualize you trying to type with Spring in your arms...  IIRC Spring is a little girl?  Last night while looking for something else, I came across some photos of my boys when they were just little kittens.  This is my little sweetie Blackie back when he was just a couple months old.  Might have weighed around 2 maybe 3 lbs. at the time.  I think you can see why I told my Dad I would take the little guy.  He was my Dad's favorite of the litter!  Photo was taken on my Dad's back enclosed porch he used for storage.

I will be driving to Rochester this afternoon to pick up copies of the registration forms that have been turned in for the Convention.  I am helping the registrar get the communications done (finally!)  He has been up to his armpits in alligators this Winter/Spring so I told him I will get that part done and he can concentrate on the financial stuff and getting bag stuffers to be handed out at registration.

The contractor hasn't shown up yet today.  I know he wants to do the outside work and the weather is not co-operating...  He may be in later and get some more done on the inside stuff.  I want to have him help me move the old wood stove out to the back porch at some point.

Ulrich, sorry to hear the old monitor bit the dust!  Glad you can at least now see the laptop well enough to stop by!

I see Galaxy hasn't been in today.  Hope the rain didn't cause flooding down his way.  I know that it often takes out the power substation in his area.  So...  I will post a quote for today:

Good Afternoon!

It is a real nice day today - lots of sunshine and quite warm. Enough for me - I don´t need more than what we have right now.

Much to my dismay my flat screen monitor decided to quit the service after only 12 years (grin). Now I have to get used to looking at the built-in screen of my notebook, which is less than half the size. Thank goodness I´ve got my new beepers, without them I would not be able to read a thing on the screen.

Flo, I´d like to have a "coup dame blanche" - that´s vanilla icecream topped with chocolate sauce, please and thanks!

It has been over three weeks since the accident and it still hurts to swallow and the voice is not what it used to be. I know it was a significant injury, but I am tired of the recovery. I just want to get back to normal. I have decided I need to practice patience so I think I will do a little ballasting today.

Ugh.  The wife scheduled some guys to power wash the house and decks today, so at 0745 they started with a compressor.  It's annoyingly loud.  I left for the bagel shop and spent the first hour there.

As it's dark and gloomy out, there will be no pleasant bike rides today.  I may do some decals.  I've got an appointment with the periodontist at 11, which will be far more pleasant than listening to the compressor.

Ray .... Thanks for the warning. LOL .... Grin and bear it.

Jim .... A big congratulations to your granddaughter for her winning at the dancing competition.

Barry .... Sounds like Spring has a mind of his own. (Or is Spring a female?)

Larry ... I hope the back pain was only temporary.

Ken ... Sounds like an ongoing problem at work. That Dave should have been fired already. . I like the photo of Santa Fe freight F-units.

My plans for the model railroad were interrupted by an unexpected home repair yesterday. Our closets have the wire type shelving which is attached to drywall. One of the shelves is designed so you hang clothes from it as well as putting things on top. The shelf had too much stuff on it and pulled itself off of the wall along with another shelf which came down with it. So, I'm working on that. I am patching holes, and next I will repaint walls. Then I will re-install the shelves. We won't put as much stuff back in the closet when the repair is complete.

Happy model rairloading, everybody

Good morning all!

Not much to report from the land of Buckeyes other then its another typical Ohio spring day--cloudy.

I never did make it to the club yesterday thanks to my arthritis in my lower back  flaring up due to the wet weather and change of seasons.I did manage to watch two Pentrex videos-Conrail Hot Spots East and Street Running. Not much on my agenda for today other then watching rail cameras this morning.

Goodevening, spent yesterday attending a dance competition as my granddaughter's dance recital conflicts with mid-regional NMRA convention in Lexington which I have already signed up for and made motel reservations.  My granddaughter had a great day winning best solo in her age division of 24 dancers.  Glad we went and stayed through the awards ceremony.  She was really thrilled to win.  A couple of the other girls on her team also won in their divisions and one girl from the team was the overall winner.  On the train front, spiked down some more rail.  My butt joints are looking better with more practice and the use of the mini-grinder to square up the ends where the track butts together.

Howmus, enjoyed the excellent bear joke.  My other daughter would appreciate it also as they had a black bear decide to den under the deck of their cabin in the western Maryland highlands.  DNR successfully convinced the bear to pick another hibrenation location without eating the bells or pepper spray.

Time for some zzz's

Evenin' folks!,

Janie. I'll have the BBQ chicken, a spring salad, and some fried parsnips for dinner tonight...  I'll finish off with a slice of the rhubarb pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.

Been a nice day here in  the Finger Lakes with the sun staying out all day.  We are supposed to have some rain tonight but it was a beautiful day here.  I just got this announcement and thought I would pass it on to all of you.  Especdially since i know several of you are bicycle riders and hikers and like to vist the parks and forests around.  Do be safe and watch out, please!

I'm going to disappear down to the train rooms for about an hour...

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Please

Sorry I have been MIA a few days, just nothing fun to talk about.

Work Front It has had me in the dump the last two days. Found out that Cary is being let go because we are losing money, yet the Idot Dave is keeping his job? On a per sales stand point, I would have picked Cary as well. He is not that great and has the lowest sales so that I understand. Dave is still good at sales, but is just totaly lost on every thing eles!

Paul the GM and all the other staff wanted to let Dave go! But Nancy (owner wife) thinks Dave is great! Sad But, she is a ding-bat in her own right.

 I have two main worries.

1 I have busted my hump getting the store straight and clean. Cary was covering my store 2 days a week. Last thing I want is to have Dave in there when I am not! Then there is the Power Struggle, I don't think anyone has told Dave he is not still the Manager yet? Whistling

2 If we are doing that badly how much longer will I have a job? Marv (owner) is starting to fix the store front up, and he is cheap! Where the store is and it sizes fixed up some it could bring in $1.5 too $2 million dollars.

Well I am out of here tonight and will drop by Monday.

 Ken

Coffee refill, please.

***Mr. Dispatcher, I used to raise pygmy goats. Had LOTS of them. They never could dent the weeds during the growing season. And the worst part was when a few got into my orchard and basically killed a bunch of apple trees by chewing the bark off. Only took them about 15 minutes to do all the damage. I sold them and haven't missed them a single day since. DevilCute little critters, but never again for me.

***Ulrich, layout design looks good!

Hi Guys

Went to a train show this morning. It was very busy, there was quite a lineup. I managed to pick up twn freight cars and some micro sol and set. There were also some great running layouts. Nothing like a train show to get the juices flowing again. It will probably be the last show around here now until the Fall.

I already have my "dream" layout - based on track I already have. At the end of last year, I bought some used Minitrix track and switches for a projected N scale layout. The N scale stuff is mostly gone, but I still have some leftover track, a HOn30 loco given to me by a friend, and some cars to go with it.

Some time this year I will have saved up a sufficient amount of "nickles and dimes" to by the lumber for the benchwork. I mean that literally, whatver is left in small change goes into a piggy bank named "layout". Bills go into the piggy bank named "Glasses"...

Well, here is my layout idea:

It´s a modular set-up, which fits on that cut down hollow core door I have put up on the wall. The setting is a narrow gauge line serving a northern German coastal town on an Island descriptively named "Schietwedderooge", or "Bad Weather Island".
