Good Morning Diners,
Flo, I'll have my usual gigante cup of coffee with boo coo cream, please.
Larry: Derailment free is a lofty and noble goal. Hope all goes well.
Been involved with trying to get interior design legislation passed in Illinois senate. The bill is in sub-committee, which we've been told is better for us. I'm not actually in the hearings, but I'm in the organization that is. We seem to have a lot of vociferous opposition. Some of it I understand. Some of it I don't. if I say anymore, it'll start to sound political, which is not my intent.
Day three and no Galaxy. I sure hope things are OK.
No relevant quote today. I'll see if I can find one for tomorrow. But, I'll contribute this.

I hope everyone is OK, safe, and warm.

Good morning all!
Not much to report from the land of chilled Buckeyes other then its cold this morning. When will warm weather get here? Not this weekend according to the weather gal.
Yesterday I inspected, cleaned and service the engines I will be using during the tractor show open house and the week of the county fair.I will inspect the cars I will be using since I hate surprises during the first few minutes of running and not to mention any derailments or other issues causes me great embarrassment. My personal goal is 100% derailment and trouble free operation during public shows.I won't accept anything less.
I have no idea what my agenda for today is..
So...
I shall have a cup or three and look over the forum.
Have a good'un!

I'm back. I see a few new faces around here, and its nice to see a few of the old hands still around.
Time to update on myself,
Layout wise, the N scale AT&SF themed layout is in a bit of a pause in construction, with not much done since mid January, this is due in part to a reconfiguration and renovation of the room its located in, and mostly lack of time while I have other priorities.
number one is putting a lot of time into my relationship with my girlfriend! We are actually going on a two week vacation on saturday to SE Asia. I've also been helping my parents with renovations on their home, besides work, I have played cricket every saturday, leaving only sunday to recover (not feeling like layout work.)
The layout itself is covered to keep dust off it, as our place is very dusty, and once the renovations are complete I plan on getting back to working on it.
As some of you may know I enjoy SE Asia immensely, and one of the main reasons for this next vacation is to do some ground work as within the next 18 months my partner and myself want to live in Thailand for at least 12 months, this will involve alot of planning (and saving money!) but its something I want to experience, and to get away from Australia for a while, as much as I love it!
I've been on this forum 11 years, and I'm still young (26 in August) so I want to do this while I still can :) then I'll come back to reality and work my a** off for another 40 years ;)
I'll try pop back in tomorrow night before I head off, and I will of course try catch up whilst on my vacation.
Cheers!

Evenin' folks!
Janie, just a refill for my cup of decaf please....
Currently 39°F outside and I may wake up to find white stuff on the ground..... That is really not that unusual in these parts. A sn*w storm of sorts even in May is not unheard of, but I can do without any more of the STUFF. Almost rather mow lawn, ya know.
Seekms like I did a lot of STUFF today, but not really sure if I accomplished much. I did get emails out to the Convention Attendees. I still need to send them all another one tomorrow moring with the maps of the college and the building we will be using.

Flo, please
Work Front Today was my sit on my caboose and read day. Thursday I will make a few moves on the floor and fill a King Sizes Soft Side Water Bed that Dave drained in Januray. I have been told to make Dave fill it this weekend but why bother?
It was pretty slow today far as customer count, but I did have one good one. Couple bought a set of Split Queen Memory Foam Mattress for the power base's they all ready had. If I did the math right I made a extra $215.00 today in spiff.
Galaxy I just hope in the long run he is happy with his life no matter what road it goes down.
Trains are running well! So I know they are up to something!

Evening Diners,
I too miss Galaxy's appearance on the forum. Not much happening today.
If I did sold off my N Scale trains, I still wouldn't have enough to buy a 1:1 Scale Steam locomotive or diesel kit. But I do think of it 2 or 3 times a year.

He did say a few pages back...that He was having trouble with His PC working. I do have His mailing address....but I don't believe He would want Me to give it out, without His permission.
Hope all is well, with Him.
YGW - I have sent him an email this morning, but have not yet received an answer. I am more than just a little worried ...
Garry - unfortunately the way this system is designed it is not necassary to attach it to a stud. Another reason I really do not like this system. They look good in new but when it comes to actual use they ultimately fail.
Mr. B - congrates on the win
Brakie - That is a nice way to relax watching train videos.
Ulrich - Do you have a mailing address for Galaxy ? Does anyone have a contact for him ? I wonder if he finally flew the coup because of his home issues ? I sure hope it is not health.
Lion - look out for da Bears : ) !
This weekend I will probably start packing the YGW up for the move at the end of the month. Mixed feelings about that.

Heart warming!
Afternoon Folks!
It was a little foggy this morning, but turned into a pleasantly sunny day after a while. Temperatures are a tad down from yesterday, but that´s OK with me.
The meds I have to take give me a nauseatic feeling in my stomach, so I am not up to much today - just hang around, leaf through some old MR copies or search the web for some staem videos. The doc says I´ll get used to that feeling, but at the moment I find it annoying.
Still no word from our friend G.? I am a little worried, after what he has been through recently. I hope we will get a message from him.
Here is a pic showing today´s view from our dining area window:
Have a good one!
I, too, am wondering about Galaxy. I hope it's just a computer issue. Or, perhaps he surprised his wife with a vacation in Paris for her birthday.
Once again, our White Team was victorious in Tuesday Night Hockey. The final score was 20-17. No, we're not the NHL. We played about 10 minutes of "overtime," which to us is the time after we're supposed to get off the ice and the time the Zamboni driver actually buzzes us off. As the last group of the evening, we give him a few extra dollars and some beers and he gives us extra ice time. After an hour and a half, though, we don't need any more time.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have a bowl of hot oatmeal with brown sugar and a pot of Seneca Lake Blend Dark Roast coffee for my R&GV RR mug please...
As Barry would say, dark and gloomy today here in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS. Lots of heavy clouds out there and some sprinkles going from time to time. Contractor may be taking the day off with the weather... I think the new picture window has arrived for the living room and they just need a good day to install it. Inside probably waiting for the work done yesterday to dry and cure.
Since Galaxy is no where to be found (Do hope he is OK), here is another great quote for today: "I don't need anger management. I need people to stop ticking me off!" - anonymous
I will be sending out a large bunch of emails today to people who are signed up to come to the Convention, so I will spend most of today sitting here at the computer. I better head down cellar and check on the water level down there...
Catch you all later!
Flo, I'll have a giant cup of coffee with lots of cream, please.
Two days in a row and no Galaxy. Very uncharacteristic. Sure hope he's OK.
Blackhawks won last night. Not that I really care, but what's interesting is that it went for 3 over times and ended at like 1:00 am.
in lieu of a real quote from some world leader or someone, I'll just contribute this for today. Hope Galaxy will be back tomorrow.
"Lay back and groove, on a rainy day." - James Marshall Hendrix
i hope everyone is OK, safe and warm.
Not much to report from the land of Buckeyes other then its windy with rain-a down right miserable morning..Yesterday afternoon I lazed about and read a Ralph Compton Western novel and when finish I recharged my Kindle Fire..After supper I watched Vignettes of the Erie-Lackawanna Vol. 2 ..A lot of information can be found in these types of railroad DVDs.
I shall have a cup and look over da forum.
Good evening ..
My closet shelf repair jobs is nearing completion. I figued out what happened. The shelves were no properly installed. Each end is supposed to have a bracket supporting the long piece used for hang clothes. There were few diagonal brackets in the middle of the shelf to support it, but that was not enough for all the weight.
Instead of using end brackets, I now have wood blocks secured to studs, and that will support a loaded shelf. (The brackets are only fastend to the drywall and not the studs.) Also, it is a good time to send surplus clothes to Good Will or the local Helping Hands. So, much less will be going back in the closet.
Anyhow, not much model railroading to report.

EVERYWHERE LOST; WE HUSTLE OUR CABOOSE FOR YOU
Janie, just a decaf for me right now...
I spent another day mostly sitting here at the computer getting some stuff done for the convention. I did run a couple of errands downtown this afternoon. A sub-contractor was here doing some work on the wallboard in the living room... Not sure what exactly they were doing as I didn't go out to see. Did a very little bit of stuff on gthe layout. All of about 15 minutes worth. I am waiting for some items from Caboose Hobbioes to arrive in the next few days. Until then I am at a standstill on the bridge I am building.
We got about a half inch of rain last night and this morning. Enough to start water seeping into the basement again... Started the siphon twice today. By the end of the week I will be doing what Ken was doing earlier today... Don't have to worry about stale gas in mine... Electric doesn't smell bad either.... LOL The batteries have been plugged in all winter so hopefully I will just get out the mower and mow. Probably should sharpen the blade, but I will wait until I have some time to do that.
Another good quote for you.... "Even duct tape can't fix stupid ........ but it can muffle the sound!" – anonymous
Have a great night! Prayers for all in need! I do wonder where "G" is?
Flo, Beer please.
Cut the grass for the first time this year. I hate cutting the grass for some reason? Front yard only took a half hour. Last winter I did run all the gas out of the mower and it has started smelling like varnish. Luckly I had added some Marvel Mystery to what gas was left in the tank. Mower started on the first pull today.
yougottawantaKen - I thought you should have started looking for another job long ago. What is keeping you in that place ?
YGW That is a complex question.
1 Health, where you in the dinner when the last job sent me to the Hospital? Because I could no sit on my 8 to 12 hour shifts I got a foot ulcer and should not stand more than 3 hours a day. With this job, well now that most of the Dave Mess Cleaning is over I am only on my feet maybe 2 to 4 hours a day if that.
2 I am still sharp enough to realizes I am not as sharp as I was say 10 years ago. I use to run 8 states, now I am happy I remember by way to work! Well I am not that bad, Dave? More than likely that is ture.
3 I am 59 now, in the job market that is old. 20 years ago when I was hiring managers for my shop's I would really wonder about hiring them if some one that age came in. But, that was a very demanding job. Only 2 out of 10 managers lasted a year, it was very hard. I would bet a 35 year old manager will fell the same way about me.
4 I like the job because I feel like I am helping people.
5 It is 10 miles from my home.
6 There is no one looking over my shoulder. If I feel like working hard, I will. If I feel like sitting on my caboose unless I have a customer I can!
I do see the writting on the wall, time to start sending out resume again.

Ulrich
Is he on other forums that anyone knows of ? I am getting worried too. Does anyone have a way to contact him ?
Thanks for that wonderful video Ulrich. I wanted to model something similar like that. Unfortunately I would need to buy the rest of the friends (Thomas in HO). I very did like it.
V8VegaSo I unplug the modum and the router and wait a minute and plug in the modum, wait another minute plug in the router and pray literally that it works. The second time I did this it worked. If that fails I’m at a complete loss as to what to do.
Yes, you need to do this. You need an IP address that is issued by the router or other connection that you are connected to. Change router, you need a new IP address. A home router will get a new IP number from your ISP from time to time, and then, your device needs a new IP number too.

What´s up with Galaxy? Has anybody heard from him? His absence leaves me worried!
JaBear - funny story for you. My wife (deceased now ) when were were freshly married and had two youg ones running around had a home in the country. During one summer some black bears come wondering through the yard. My wife ( stay at home mom ) called me in a panic and asked what she should do. I told here not to let the kids out because they might become lunch for mr. bear. I said it in a joking way. She didnt see any humor at all in it and hung up and when I got home she wouldnt talk to me for a few hours
Lion - Really wire shelves for fire code
Blown Out - 50LB Bagel !!!
Howmus - LOL ! Post Bail ? Oh my gosh I laughed so hard at that. THANKS.
Mr. Beasly - WHAT ? NO THINK YOU I DONT NEED ANY BACHMANN ENGINES. tHEY RUN AS LOUD AS THAT COMPRESSOR. HOW MUCH LONGER BEFORE THEY TURN THAT THING OFF ?? WHAT ? NO NO I DO NOT WANT TO GOLF...
We continue to enjoy balmy Spring weather - most unusual for this region, whre the main weather condition throughout the year is "Schietwedder"!
Janie, as supper time is approaching here, I´ll just settle for a mug of dark roast, served in my SWOK mug, please!
Dennis - I´ve had that problem a number of times. In most cases it helped to just switch off the modem (router) and switch it on after about 5 minutes. Only recently I had a bigger problem - luckily, our provider sent a technician who could fix the issue (at no charge!).
Lion - ever tried wildeebeest biltong? I´s like a beef jerky, with a slightly () stronger taste to it!
Ray - I always start the day with a bowl of whole grain cereal (the Muesli type) and a mug o´ coffee! Takes me all the way through to lunch without feeling hungry.
Found a nice video in the web - worth watching!

Have fun!
Good morning. Gray and dreary again, with a 40% chance of rain. The same for tomorrow, but then we get some partly cloudy. Still in the 50s for another week. I'm going to have to dress warmer if I want to go for a bike ride again anytime soon.
Dennis, I had a connection that would routinely get lost about once a month. I googled around and found that the wireless router had a known problem with stored IP addresses, and needed to be power cycled once a month. I ended up just getting a better router.
Zoe, I'll have a large bowl of Nature's Path Organic Smart Bran Cereal with some blueberries and a pot of Marrakesh Express Dark Roast Coffee to start the day.
The sun is out for the moment here in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS, but most a wet chilly and damp day out there. Currently 48°F out there with a perported high of 59°F maybe.....
Todays item keeping me from doing any work on my model railroad will be to make out reciepts for the people coming to Mortimer Junction, gather all the other items and write a nice email to the people who have signed up and send them out. Hopefully I can get to everyone via email with all this as there is only one person coming who doesn't have nor like computers... His layout operates on DC as you might have guessed... He will be at the home of my Asst. Superintendent this Friday so I'll have him print and hand deliver the items then.
I noticed yesterday that my asperagus has started to come up. I will save it for my son and my sister, as I have to be very careful eating the stuff these days. Gout is no fun!

Good Chilly Morning
We are heading back a few weeks weather-wise here...today will feature rain, wind, a bit of sun...but a high of 46F. Tomorrow? How does a rain/s**w mix sound? High of only 40F expected tomorrow...le sigh.
Going to visit a few places today to pick up some groceries and start on my new RR addition...
Chloe, I'll have a 50lb breakfast bagel, a coupla gallons of OJ and a 50 cup urn of boot coffee...might as well start the day off on the right foot...
Thoughts and Best Wishes to All that need them. EDIT: Chloe, looks like the eats and drinks are on me. Please see that the diners get what they want. Even a dog biscuit and a bowl of water for the mutt. Cheers, the Bear.
