Hey Ulrich I found a track plan that Lance Mindheim made. It's small in size 12"x48".

Type Lance Mindheim track plans and you'll find a track plan that covered around water with a industrial scene. I typed the website, but it don't work.

I changed a little bit off the original plan and made it into a Merchandise Industrial terminal for the New York Central. It can hold up to 7 cars and a diesel engine. I'm going to try to build it without interfering with my modern era.

Good Afternoon Diners,

Just a quick note, so Brunhilda, just a cup of coffee with lots of cream, please.

Not a lot to report train wise.  Still enjoying my acquisitions from the train show last week.  I'm going to have to go to that more often, but then again, all I can do there is look at trains and spend money.Big Smile

When I was young I irreverently would say that for lent I gave up watermelon and enchiladas.  I don't say such things anymore.

i hope everyone is OK, safe, and warm.

Less is more,...more or less!

Afternoon Folks!

Lots of sunshine at this side of the Big Pond, too! Not really warm, but actually quite the way I like it. I must have polar bear blood in my veins!

The sunny weather revived my spirits a little. I try not to think about what most certainly lays ahead of me. Like Martin Luther said "If I knew tzhe world to end tomorrow, I´d plant an apple tree today".

I am not much into MRRing these days, though I miss it. I am still trying to find ways to build a little layout, just to have something to play with.

Janie, supper time is coming up here, so I´ll go for a Barry-sized burger, fries, a side dish of mixed salad and an RBF, if you please...

Have a great one!

Mornin' folks!

Chloe, just a a refill for my R&GV RR Mug please.

Sun is out so far today...  Going to get cloudy this afternoon according to the weather guessers.  Yesterday was a nice bright day and the solar panels kicked out 26.55 kWh of electric.  Always love to have a day when they make more electric than I use...

Another week I will have to get the lawn mower out and start keeping the grass in check...  According to the contractor the living room will be pretty much done by the end of this week.  Then I can decide on wall color and start looking at furniture.  Will be nice to get some of the stuff out of my dining room/office and back out in the living room as well.

Catch you all later!

I tried givving up smoking for Lent, but the Abbot just laughed at me, said Nice try, pick something else.

For several years, when my Mom asked what I was giving up for Lent, I would think for a minute and say "Chewing gum."  I think my thought process involved something like, "I don't chew gum, but this worked last year."

Bright, sunny Sunday morning here, but only about 50 degrees.  I'd like to get in a bike ride, but that's a bit chilly.  It's supposed to warm up to 57, so maybe later.

The MOW tank car needs another coat to cover the Texaco lettering.  I found some brake parts from some Tichy box car kits, so I'll use those under this tank car.

Going to try a weed spray in a week or so that claims it is safe for all types of livestock, including horses. (I still won't have my horses out on any area I spray for a couple weeks though).

Why spray just get some hungry goats (wait goats are always hungry)Big Smile

Well that didn't work!

Humph... Seems to work for me.

Nice! About 18 miles per hour.

HUMPH... My subway trains run at about 50 mph, and that is too fast for the NYCT. Maybe I should try to slow them down. 35 is about the top the ever do now, but in older days 45 to 50 would have been about just right.

Extra strong Italian Roast coffee with a pinch of coal dust in a STORMY SOUTHERN mug, please and thank you.

***Terry, nice vids!Thumbs Up

Lost my most beautiful cat, Yinyang a few days ago. She was an older bengal, very easy going and sweet. She was never the same after being spayed and wasn't my oldest cat. Perhaps some kind of cancer or something. RIP, Yinyang.

No work yet on the new layout benchwork. Have the lumber sitting with bricks on it so it won't warp a lot before I get it all cut up, then glued and screwed together. Still looking forward to it.

Line of thunder boomers heading this way for early afternoon. The farm is already a soggy mud fest. Weeds are in full swing and it's too muddy to brushcut them. Going to try a weed spray in a week or so that claims it is safe for all types of livestock, including horses. (I still won't have my horses out on any area I spray for a couple weeks though).

That's it from the ol' farm. Hope everyone is doing well.

Cheers! Cowboy Rob

Good morning.

Larry .. Glad you are having fun railfanning and also adding details to buildings.

Yesterday had good weather and we focussed on doing outside work. Today's rain means inside activities which should include the model railroad.

Good morning all from the land of Buckeyes..

Yesterday evening I went railfaning and seen 13 trains in 4 1/2 hours.. Not bad at all. Modeling wise I finally got around to adding stacks and vents to my industrial buildings yesterday morning. A simple project..I used Walthers roof detail kit.I painted these parts old silver several days ago with high hopes of adding them after they dried.Oh well..High hopes do fade. My next project is adding Walthers dust collectors to Standard Plastics.

Not much on tap for today other then going to the club.

I shall have a cup and look over the forum.

Have a good'un!  Thumbs Up

Evening Diners,

Don't worry smoking isn't for everybody Garry and I don't do it neither. Hey Terry I saw the video and it was very good. I forgot to wish Happy Birthday to Frank yesterday.  Everyone else who's having MOH Ulrich, Galaxy, JohnBoy, and everyone else who needs help.

It's been a boring day today. I caught up watching Hell's Kitchen and Season 5 of Royal Pains today.

I'll call the post office on Monday since I can't call them tomorrow, it's their day off.

Good evening.

Terry .... I watched the video. It looks great !

Todd .. In case you are looking in. It's time for the Toddland report. ... Also, you may recall we talked about the bait shop pizza here. The place has been closed for several months, and the property is owned by the highway department. Bulldozers  are pnly about a 1/2 mile up the road and getting closer. Soon it will be history.

Mr. B ... Speaking of smoking, when I was a kid my "friends" urged me to smoke as they did. I took one puff, and that was all for me. The flavor was awful. I did not understand why anyone would like such a terrible flavor in their mouth. I never tried it again. ...

Happy Model Railroading, everybody.

Good Satuday afternoon, Diners! 66f and gorgeous sunshine. Yesterday was even better! Took the bike out with some buddies, first ride of the year. Alas, rain, snow and colder next 2 days. I hope they are wrong.

Had some guys over for an ops session couple weeks ago. Everything went well! Ran some open turnouts, but that was it! Not bad for 4 guests that are NOT model RR's.

Today I got out on my bicycle for the first time this year.  I did 15 miles at a good clip and felt pretty good.  Yeah, the hills still hurt, but I felt like I could go forever on the flats.

My own Dad died at 56.  Like the rest of his large family, the smokers never reached 70 while the others got close to 90.  The lesson was not lost on me.  With retirement, I've been able to pick up my exercise program.  Over the last two weeks I've had 5 days of skiing, 4 nights of hockey and now 15 miles on the bike.  I can honestly say that I'm feeling younger ever day.

OK, got the truck bolsters drilled and tapped for 2-56 screws, and I put a coat of gray primer on the tank for the MOW water car.  I've soaped the frame to get rid of the years of dust.  Now, I'm thinking I should add some brake lines, since it's a tanker and that sort of thing is visible.  It's going to need some couplers and draft gear boxes, too, but I'll have to mount the trucks and wheels first to get the level right.  I took a first cut at making the decals, too, with a "stencil" font.  I printed them on regular paper to see how the size fits before going with the decal paper.

Ulrich,

If it will make You feel any better.....My Dad died at 61yrs. old...I have very similar health issue's He had and I will be 73 yrs. old this year. I thought about that too when I was younger. Quite possible that I had them taken care of/controlled sooner than He had done.

Spend more time taking care of today.....instead of worrying about tomorrow....is My belief.

Take Care! Cheer up! Big Smile

Good Evening!

Just a short visit, as I am not a good company today.

My health issues keep on worrying me. Add to that, that to this date two years ago my Dad died, and you will understand why I am a miserable sod today. I hope I will be excused.

Good Morning all!

Thought I would stop by and have a cup..

Anyway, while drinking my coffee this morning I started reminiscing about Saturdays of years pass and going to the LHS to look over the new releases and talk to the group of the usual suspects that found their way there every Saturday morning. After a hour or two of train and model chit chat I would head to my favorite trackside spot to railfan.

I don't know of a better way to relax after a week of work.Of course that was after I lost my railroad job and I got my life back.

Have a good day everybody and thanks for listening.

The coffee pot just announced that my morning beverage is ready.  Hazelnut Creme, in honor of the weekend.  (Actually, it's just in honor of replenishing my supply yesterday at the grocery store.)

angelob6660
Train News: I bought/ordered an Atlas NYC early bird double door boxcar two weeks ago on eBay. Don't worry it has a tracking system on it. My problem is that it left the facility a 9 days ago and don't know where it's at. All it reads is left Chicago and traveled 20 miles to Forest Park and left again early next morning.

That seem to happen to me every time the shipper uses 2-day express mail from USPS.  It takes a week.  I actually contacted the post office about one that dropped off the postal radar just like yours did.  The package eventually arrived, and then, maybe a week after that, I got a response to my inquiry.

I had one train order that was shipped by UPS, but they used USPS for the final delivery.  So there's my package (according to UPS tracking, which is better) at the same distribution facility as always, but instead of putting it on the truck and delivering it, they put it on the same truck, drive right by my house, and bring it to the post office, who then delivers it a day later.  Ah, progress.  Sherman, set the Wayback Machine for the Transition Era, please, before we had so much of this progress.

It's a beautiful sunshiny day.  Bike ride for sure.

Sun is out nice and bright this morning here in the Finger Lakes.  Current temperature is 61°F with a high of 70° later this afternoon.  Should be another good day for making electricity...  I have a few errands to run very soon, and then I shall be cleaning house and working on the next project needed for the Keuka Creek area on the layout.

Evening Diners,

My mom lefted for Virginia today to visit daughter Jackie. But their was a small problem with the car rental place that my sister did. She paid for the car but couldn't drive it. Apparently she paid with a debt not a credit card.

My dad's going up to Phoenix tomorrow for work. So grocery shopping will probably be done on Sunday.

Don't call the house when you're pick up cigarettes when the real reason is that you going to the casino. It's a waste of a phone call when you know where he's going to be at. That payday was yesterday and you already went there two days ago. And again I don't get paid.

I talked about it with my brother who works at the post office. He said, "I can't help you. It probably got misplaced or traveling somewhere else depending on how much shipping he put on the box."

I would like to call them and tell him to find it by scanning every box! I don't feel like buying another boxcar. Next month I'm going to get a diesel and two boxcars (NYC) if there still available. 1957 is not done yet, but I do have two flatcars.

I found something interesting today. I compared my NYC 50' flatcar with a modern 50' CR boxcar and their two different lengths. Both models are from Atlas. The boxcar had an extra ruler meter.
