I already have my "dream" layout - based on track I already have. At the end of last year, I bought some used Minitrix track and switches for a projected N scale layout. The N scale stuff is mostly gone, but I still have some leftover track, a HOn30 loco given to me by a friend, and some cars to go with it.

Some time this year I will have saved up a sufficient amount of "nickles and dimes" to by the lumber for the benchwork. I mean that literally, whatver is left in small change goes into a piggy bank named "layout". Bills go into the piggy bank named "Glasses"...

Well, here is my layout idea:

It´s a modular set-up, which fits on that cut down hollow core door I have put up on the wall. The setting is a narrow gauge line serving a northern German coastal town on an Island descriptively named "Schietwedderooge", or "Bad Weather Island".
