As he posted in the Diner, Jeff's left leg has been removed. his right leg was already amputated last year.

Jeff has a remarkable ability to keep a positive attitude in spite of tough problems, but this may be very difficult.

i am sure he will appreciate your words of encouragement if you post them here or contact him directly.

Garry,

I'm glad You posted the new's about Jeff. I was debating the same. Jeff is just too good a guy to be left un- noticed.

I played a part trying to support Him in the past, as did many other's from the Forums, here and the other sites.....But this new developement, I am just at a loss for words for any encouragement that I may be able to offer Him. Losing both legs is one hell of a tough pill to swallow for anyone.

I will continue to support and help...anyway that I can.

Jeff...try to hang in there buddy...I remain on Your side always.

Garry,

Thanks for letting those who don't hang out in the coffee shop, etc know. Jeff is indomitable -- I think that's the right word, anyway.

This won't be easy, but Jeff, hang in there. I potentially face some of the same issues long term and can only take inspiration from your spirited example of not letting things get you down. I hope I won't need that, but I take comfort in the example of your will and that of others to overcome life's obstacles that I can find the same power to meet the daily challenges life throws at us.

Remember to make those aisleways wide, folks, and those layout entrances accessible. Someday you, too, may need that.

Hope you are doing well and get going again real soon.

The real debate is whether you should be called "Mallet" or "Garrett" now, since you will be fully articulated.  Smile

Jeff ---

This is a tough one for you to face; but in the short year or so that I've been on the forums I've learned that you're one of the most resilient & upbeat people I've ever encountered.  Also an incredibly nice guy who's always willing to share his knowledge and his sense of humor with others.  When I see your name pop up on here, I always feel good and I always enjoy reading what you've got to say.

So hang in there.  We're all pulling for you.

Pain killers don't work with me they make dizzy.

You have love and support from everyone. I believe that's the real medicine for what you're going through.

Best wishes and prayers for your recovery.

Jeffrey,

You already know my feelings on the subject of you and your trials and tribulations.{I hope}.

I still have a candle lit for you to maybe help in any way it can. Instead of eminating *good healing light* towards you, maybe this time it will *draw the darkness* in your life away from you!

I was just thinking of generating such a post, but while I was napping,  Garry beat me to it, I see.

Seems to me, for every two steps you take backwards, *you* take three steps forward!

PT is likely to be a long process for you this time, having to learn to walk all over again.

And you know I take pain killers, the serious stuff, often doesn't do much for me either, but is often better than nothing.

But, I know,  knowing you, you will survive, strive for better, and take those three  steps forward sooner than later.....

AS Jimmy Dean says:

I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.

now, don't go giving the *pretty nurses* to much of a hassle!

The best of care to you,

Whistling

Morning Jeff,

Well you made it through your first night, so that is the first step.  Everything else will come that same way, one step at a time,  so be patient with yourself.

Glad to hear you got a Tablet, that was a real swell gift and much handier for you right now. Besides you'll be able to take pictures of those Southern Belle Nurses and maybe even share them with us................the pictures that is.     Lol

I hope each moment of every day goes better for you as you gain your strength back and heal up getting ready for those bionic components.

God Bless, Good Buddy.

Jeff

You are an inspiration with your positive attitude and friendly demeanor despite experiencing monumental physical suffering and loss of limb.

Never doubt that you are positively influencing many.

Praying your pain will subside, so you can better enjoy your model railroading.

Garry,

Thanks. If I could just stay on my diet, I'd be good. That's much less of a challenge than what Jeffrey is going through. It's Jeff's thread, but I thought it important that we remember when it comes to health, it can happen to any of us, so it's important to consider how we'd expect others to pull for us if we found ourselves similarly situated.

Now, if I'd only made those aisles a little wider....Shy

It's an endearing, but also a reassuring, quality you have about you, Jeffrey.  It makes the rest of us mere mortals hope that if you can make it through all the trials thrown your way in recent years, we should all be able to square up a bit and soldier on.

My hat is lifted off for you, Jeff.  Many happy mornings to you still.  God bless.

Jeffrey.

Major medical procedures are hell on Earth to have to endure. But it's also all that other stuff you also have to endure as after effects, that's the real devil in it all.

You will be in the prayers of many, many people & in the thoughts of many others.

All the very best to you, Jeffrey.
