Sorry to hear of Jeff's passing. Our paths never crossed in any way, but he was one of us and I am sure will be sorely missed by his family and all those who knew him. Hopefully he is in a better place, R.I.P. Jeff...
Sir Madog Jeff passed away this morning. We have lost a true friend.
Jeff passed away this morning.
We have lost a true friend.
God rest you, Jeffrey.
We who have been here for the past many years know that he had a constant and daily struggle with many health problems, but also the stress that comes with poverty. He stayed active here, served as a moderator for a while, and kept in touch. Jeff was a class act when many of us would have crumbled.

I'm very sorry to hear of Jeff's passing. I lived in Leesville in the mid-90s while stationed at Ft Polk, but that was before forums, so regretfully I never did meet him. I don't know that I've ever known so prolific a forum poster as Jeff. I recall watching him try new weathering techniques and improving his results each time. To me, that's the essence of this hobby...trying new things and expanding one's skill set. Jeff was also inspiringly creative on a shoestring budget, and bucked the trend of the hobby's growing expense. To that end he proved that model railroading was accessible to anyone with determination and a knack for a deal.
As I drifted out of this forum and into others, one thing I could count on in my few sojourns back to MR forums was Jeff. His passing is very saddening indeed. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Clear tracks ahead, Jeff...

When I saw a lot more posts on this thread, I was hoping my first thoughts were wrong, but sadly they weren't. I will remember Jeff as one of the most inventive people around, always making something from what many of us would have just thrown in the trash. A solid example of the concept that this hobby is what you make of it. He will be missed.

It is a sad time when one of our number passes & is gone to where good souls go.
There is no pain there & lifes relentless struggles are forgotten & the dream of tomorrow comes with a smile & a knowing chuckle - a feeling of contentment knowing that service given was service appreciated & respected.
So now its time to walk green fields as whole again strong & powerful with a new purpose & a continuing determination. Gone & behind the protective wall are the cities bleached with fear and the fight for peace where there is none.
But now there is peace & it will be that way forever. Not even the winds whisper will disturb the resting spirit.

My condolences to his family.
Good bye Jeff, we'll miss you. The forums will be a poorer place with you gone.

It didn't take long after I joined this forum to understand what an icon Jeff was in here, along with many other forums and boards where I had seen his name.
My wife has done cares for many diabetics, and she fully understood what was going on with his health, and always asked me if I've heard anything of Jeff, when I mentioned I checked into the MR forum.
Our thoughts and prayers to his family.

Words just cannot seem to fill what I feel. Jeff and I exchanged emails over the years as well as the Coffee Shop threads. I have witnessed the pain first hand in my own family, first my WW2 Vet uncle who also lost both legs to Diabetes, and passed away at age 63, then my father who was about to loose his legs when God saved him the pain at age 87 and took him home.
Jeff, may you rest in peace my dear friend, we are all at a loss, but you will spend Christmas with Jesus in Heaven. The mountain railroad has carried you safely home Jeff !
Oh man.
This is a sad day.
Condolences to Jeff's family, his friends, and to all of us who knew him through this forum.

I'm sorry to hear of Jeff's passing. My thoughts are with his family.
I was saddened to hear of Jeffrey's passing. I will miss his contributions to the general forum but especially to the "diner". Even though I was not a contributor to the diner I enjoyed Jeffrey's stories and weather reports. He was one of a kind and will be sorely missed. I just hope that he was able to take some of his beloved hot sauce with him.

I am very saddened to hear of Jeff's passing. Even though I have not been very active on the forum the past several years, I have very fond memories of Jeff and his layout. I remember him once wanting to model an abandoned baggage car, and it so happened that I had the exact baggage car he was talking about. I sent it to him and lo and behold, about a month later it turned up on his layout all weathered and beaten up. It looked beautiful
My sincere condolences to Jeff's family---he will be sorely missed.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Evening,
It has been a very sad day today. I have read some very kind words about our friend Jeff. He will be missed very much. He is no longer in any pain. I will miss his daily updates and weather reports in the diner thread. Thanks Jeff for all the help and advice you have gave me over the years. I will miss you my friend....
Condolences to friends, and family. Jeffery, you will be missed.

Good evening all,
Normally I post on the coffeepot on the CTT side of the forums. Jeff used to moderate and post there as well. It is truly a sad to lose such a dynamic person. The hobby is poorer by his absence, but was much richer for the time he was here. I hope he is at peace now and in a better place where the trains run on time.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
