I was saddened to hear from C&NW Garry about Jeff's passing. I will miss him - as will many, many other MRRer's here and on other forums where Jeffrey posted, moderated and helped others with questions. For me, Jeff was a creative genius - both with his vehicles and with various model railroad projects he came up with - and he had about no recognition of limits when he set his mind to something. He also for me was a fellow Apple II user, and tipped me off to a new drive for my Apple IIe (which he mentioned and posted photos and info in the Diner).
I can just about picture Jeffrey in heaven, tinkering around with something, and showing St. Peter a better way to operate the pearly gates... His labors here are done, and his pain and struggles are over. We will miss you, Jeffrey! Godspeed.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape G.
Saddened by Jeffery's passing I was reluctant to post in the forum tonight, but then I thought what would Jeffery want me to do? He'd want me to post. Rest in Peace Jeffery Wimberly, my sincere condolences.
regards, Peter
So sad to hear about Jeff's passing, he was a great voice of reason and balance here on this forum.
He will be missed.

Oh man again. This is the third loss of a hobby friend from this insidious disease I have had in the last few years. Jeff was always eager and usually first to respond anytime I had a problem or question.
Rest we'll Jeffrey. We all will miss that incredible knowledge of the the hobby you were always quick to share.
Now you can build that 1/1 scale railroad we all dream about.

My heart is truly saddened by the lose of such a great friend. The world has lost a great man but Heaven is better for it. Now he is in a place where his legs and body are whole and never again will he feel pain or sorrow. But an eternity of joy and hapenes with those tht have gone before him.
I pray for peace and comfort for his family left behind

What was his user name? That's all a lot of us know.
I have the right to remain silent. By posting here I have given up that right and accept that anything I say can and will be used as evidence to critique me.
Carl - his user name was Jeffrey-Wimberly.
This is such saddening news. Jeff seemed like he was in high spirits the last time a saw a posting on here from him. Jeff loved model railroading and he showed it time and time again with his participation on this messageboard and others. I am not sure if Jeff ever worked for a 1:1 railroad, but I find this fitting.
Last night as I lay sleeping,I died or so it seems. Then I went to HeavenBut, it was only in my dream. But it seems St. Peter met methere at the Pearly Gates. He said, "I must check your record,So stand right here and wait."I see where you drank alcoholAnd swore quite often too.Fact is you've done many thingsThat a good person shouldn't do.We can't have people like you up here,Your life was full of sin. Then he read the last of my record,Grasped my hand and said, "Come In."He took me to the Big Boss, whoSaid "Take him and treat him well".He worked for the railroad, Sir.He's had his share of HELL!
Jeffrey sure had seen his share of Hell in his life here on Earth. "Take him and treat him well."

This is indeed sad news. Like Randy, seeing a flurry of recent activity on this thread made me put my head down before opening it. I have a lump in my throat right now.
I come and go on this forum, but Jeffrey was one of the constants and an inspiration. What many would have considered insurmountable problems he considered challenges. And his attitude in general was admirable.
We have lost an ambassador for our hobby.
Rest in peace. My deepest condolences to his family.

Seeing this thread get longer quickly made me fear for bad news. And it is. Jeff will be missed. He was always a class act. RIP.
It's heartwarming to see his volunteer service acknowledged by MR. Thanks, Steve, that reflects the classy effort that MR puts forward. With social media in various forms, such volunteer service, like in other areas of society, is often important to the user experience. Jeff's efforts were one indication of how much he had to give, despite limited means.

Just a reminder: ... You can send a message of condolences through the funeral home website. Also there are links in case you want to send flowers or a card. I did the sympathy card as well as the message. The card goes by snail mail and probably won't arrive until after Christmas. I'm sure the family will appreciate messages and cards from any of you anytime.
The funeral is at 11:00 am CST, and some of the people in the Diner will observe a moment of silence at that time. You may wish to do likewise.

I am very, very, sad. This morning I returned to the boards after almost a month away, and this is the first thread I saw. I opened it, fearing the worst, and my fears were confirmed.
He was always a voice of reason and sage advice, always able to rise above the petty bickering that sometimes goes on. A gentle, wise soul, he will be truly missed.

Yes, We are saddened but also pleased that Jeff isn't suffering any longer.
May Peace and love be with his Family today and always. May they reflect on all the great things Jeff was able to accomplish with limited funds and mobility and the wonderful spirit that he possesed, and the many people that he touched with that Spirit. He gave himself to serving others with his knowledge and skill.
Today he will be running free with a renewed body, living up to his name "Running :Bear"

That is when we have the moment of silence.
Jeff meant a lot to each of the forum members.
I don't follow the blogs here as much as I used to, but after reading the news about Jeff, I felt compelled to say how sorry and deeply saddened I am. Jeff was a good guy, and he truly loved the hobby that we shared with him.
I was always glad to see his posts, and I am sad there will be no more.

OMG! This is some very disconcerting news. I've been so wrapped up in my extremely demanding holiday work schedule that I'm 10 days behind. What's more haunting here is that Jeff was less than a month older than me.
As I think back over the 18 or so months I have been on this forum, I've found his contibutions to be intelligent, sensible, and with a certain refined humor...I've often thought that this would be one modeler I would love to meet and just sit down with for an afternoon and debate the pros and cons of something in the hobby over some coffee. Then just run trains. He will be missed.
I may be an old curmudgeon and a misanthrope...but this saddens me and my sympathies certainly go out to his loved ones.

Just heard of Jefferys passing. My prayers to his family and heartfelt condolences. As a kid he loved his trains and brought that love into his adult life like all of us. It is a very sad day to lose one of our fellow railroaders.
