Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of blueberry pancakes with real NYS Maple Syrup and a cup of Seneca lake Blend Fair Traded Dark Roast Coffee to start the day off right.

Ken, what Jeff needs is a newer, more dependable vehicle!  I think that old tank he is driving is on it's last legs and should be left to rust in a junk yard somewhere.Whistling  He has managed to keep it together with baling wire and a prayer for quite some time now.  I wish I could be more help to him with this, but several other things have lowered my "play" money account for the moment....

On my way out the door to Boy Scout Camp to KP the sound system with the guy who is the usual operator (Kid used to work for me when I had the Live Sound business) and do some measurments of what will go where with the upgrade.

Have to mail out the NMRA Newsletters later today, and run several other errands.  Gee, I wish I could find time to work on the bridge I started a couple months ago for the layout.....

Later!

 Morning Folks

 Flo, Diet Dew Pleases

Shoulders are a little stiff this morning. It is not from working out but from sleeping on the couch.

Jeffery So do you need a engine and I missed the post? If you do need a new 318, let me know and I will see if anyone at Dodge Charger.com can help.

 See you all after work.

Good to see that all of you survived the bad weather.  There were a handful of fatalities from the line of storms that came through last night.  In our town, we had a "confirmed microburst" Monday, as a particularly heavy storm passed through.  No injuries from that one, but a lot of big trees came down and the power trucks were busy the next day.  We even got a town robo-call that said we should stay off Page and Pine Hill roads because they were blocked by fallen limbs and downed wires.

It's interesting to see Ulrich's perspective on the World Cup game.  For some reason, all the media here have focused on the view from Brazil, with no mention of the celebrations that must have been going on in Deutschland.

Ooops, it's me again.  And I don't even watch soccer!

Good Morning!

I am still sleepy. Will someone be so kind and serve me a strong & hot coffee, please?

I did not get much sleep - too much noise outside! Germany beats Brazil 7:1 and a lot of folks celebrated this quite noisy! Brazil suffered the worst defeat ever recorded in the history of the Soccer World Cup and I feel sorry for them. The London Times called it a "Day of Infamy", but I think that´s overdoing it. This term is already taken ... I prefer the headlines of some British tabloids, like "Germany´s 7 heaven is Brazil´s hell" or "Germany blitzes Brazil".

It is another gray and ra*ny day here. Predictions state more to come over the weekend. We hope it´ll stay dry on Saturday, as we are invited to a summer party at the nursing home where Petra´s aunt stays.

I might start on the wharf buildings today ...

Have a good one!

Been a long day for me. The IIc had some sticking keys so I tore the keyboard down and cleaned it real good then put a couple drops of CRC 2-26 into each of the key mechanisms and worked them some until they moved like silk. I also removed the spill guard as it was coming apart and bunching up around the keys. Only the A2S4000 model had it. Apple didn't include it with the A2S4100 and the A2S4500 (IIc Plus) and it was a somewhat common practice to remove it from the A2S4000. Anyway I put it all back together and tested it. All the keys work great with the exception of the 'L' key. It has a tendency to double clutch (make two or more 'L's when struck.

Got $55 from my father as a birthday present. That's already earmarked for immediate use. More groceries for the most part. My sister and niece chipped in a bit for the 'Engine/Vehicle fund but it doesn't amount to much. Less than $100 between them.

Gotta go to the hospital tomorrow morning to have an ultrasound exam done on my liver/gall bladder area so they can see what the gall stones are up to. There goes the morning.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

We had some wicked storms blow through a hour ago. Really menacing looking ones too but it just dropped a ton of rain ( our ground is so saturated at the moment ). Before I go to work tomorrow I might head back to the hobby shop 40 minutes outsode town to pick up some #11 blades and maybe a new handle.

Talk to you guys sometime tomorrow.

Good Evening, Chloe - I already ate earlier, so I'll just have a Santa Fe mug of coffee and a hot fudge sundae for dessert, please. Thank you. DinnerSmile

Ray, so long as I don't have all that paperw*rk, I can probably take the busyness of retirement. Besides, I'd like to start practicing my nap technique...Whistling

Galaxy - I found how to have my internet provider's bill be zero for a month... back in Feb. or March of this year, I got forgetful and by mistake paid that month's bill twice! SurpriseEmbarrassed So I had a zero balance for one month. But I bet you don't want that, with what Verizon's charging you currently. Oops Glad to hear your customer (surly?)service rep keyed in the credit correctly for you.

And Ray & G, as well as Jimmy B... - good to hear your area dodged the nasty weather. Ulrich, I expect that any bad weather will have a chance to weaken before it gets to your side of the Pond...

Started using the digital system today - almost got one entry done (by a little after 5 p.m., when my co-w**ker decided to go home. So, I decided that sounded good for me to go home, too. Evenin'folks!

Janie just a decaf for the moment please.

Like Galaxy this particular part of the Finger Lakes got lucky and only had a short rain with some good gusts of wind.  No lightning and no high wind.  Sure got dark though. [edit]  Guess I really did get lucky... 23,000 RG&E Customers in three counties were left without power due to the strom.  Tracking where the storm went to the North and to the South of where I live got much heavier wind and rain.

Earlier today I was talking with the lady next door when she finished mowing her lawn.  She told me an Art Teacher at the High School here just died yesterday.  He was a student of my Sister in Canandaigua many years ago.  She was one of the reasons he chose Teaching Art for a career...  Have no idea what happened and there has been nothing in the local paper yet.  Turns out he lived in Canandaigua and my sister has also taught his daughter during her summer Art sessions...  I wasn't going to tell my sister until tomorrow afternoon so she could finish this weeks teaching without having that hanging over her head.  She called tonight to tell me about it.  Seems she got a call right in the middle of her session with the kids.  The guy was not that old.  I would guess early to mid 40's maybe.  Excellent Art Teacher!

I just bought a pair of pricey JBL outdoor speakers for Boy Scout Camp...  (That takes care of any spare change I have for the moment....)  One of the speakers will replace the one that is not working, and when it has been repaired there will be more speakers for the parade field.  Right now each end of the building where some troops form up for colors, they are in a dead area for sound.  This will correct the problem.  That is all the $$$ the Boys Scouts are getting from me this year!

Later!

Well, i here in the southern tier missed the most dangerous storm. so it seems.

Bed time looms near.

Still looking to add to my **pledges for helping Jeffrey get a new engine or new vehicle**. I know what it is like to be without a vehicle, and to have a vehicle engine blow on you when you have no money, and to have to schlep 3 miles walk in one direction to the nearest bus stop and 3 miles back after riding the bus. I also know about searching for cans/bottles to return to come up with bus money and walking the 10.5 miles back from Social services appt as I only had money for one way and that appt I NEEDED To be At no question ro I wouln't get money to get the next bus pass! That was when I was younger, and stronger and didn't need a cane to get around! i could not do it now. If you don't want to or can't {I had a hard time geting it into my budget now too} That is alright too. I just thought I cna't help him alone but many of us together can, I know we just helped with the badly needed house repairs, but sometomes things come in threes, you know! if you can help i would appreciate it and I know Jeffrey would!

 Evening Dinners Sigh

Flo, 12 pack of Beer Pleases

What a Caboose day it was! Bang Head

Long Story Short. I used Turbo Tax to file my 2010 and 2011 taxes. While the Fedural Taxes went fine, State of ILL never got there? Hmm Today I thought I finally got 2010 done and was ready to Fax and Mail said return. I used the ILL ICR form to get a tax credit on proprety taxes I paid. While I was print and scanning all the paper work I noticed my 2010 Madsion County Proptery taxes said the 2010 tax is do in 2011 not 2010! Guess what I had to do? Whistling Yep, had to redo the 2010 ILL 1040! Bang Head

What should have taken 20 minutes took me 2 hours! Sigh Guess it was a good thing I did have to redo it. Found a error I made, when I first did it I figured I owed $188.00. State says I owed $1059.00 with redoing the ILL 1040 I think I only owe $45.00 plus what ever fine I have to send. Sent them a check for $200.00 to be sort of safe.

New Grill Tonight was my second BBQ and I must say I really like this Grill! Nothing caught on fire and it is nice to be able to set 4 zones to diffrernt temps.

Todd If your comment about a owner working the sales floor with there sales people was about me, it is not a problem. When Nancy works the sales floor the ticket is split between the sales people that are there! If she get a good deal and the $ amonut right. Yes But at last she normally gets the prices wrong! No

 See you all later, Ken

I will be offline soon until later tonight...

We are now under a severe thunderstorm warning for deadly cloud to ground lightning, winds 60+mph (70+ not far to the west of me), and 1/4" hail.  Looking real nasty to the West of here.

Later!  (I hope...)

Calling it a day now. Petra is watching the soccer WC semi-final. Germany is playing Brazil. I am not so keen about soccer, so I will have the result tomorrow morning.

Galaxy, Howmus.  Yep, I'm getting the same line today as well.  Thankfully the chance of a tornado is low here "based on 10 year averages" or something like that, but yeah still gonna be a good one to weather.

Jimmy, we are also basically a "no tornado zone" but that doesn't mean we don't get them. They just don't like hilly/mountainous areas as well as flat plains. They don't go on forever like the plains, as the hilly/mountains bounce them back up to the clods from whence they came.

We are also basically a "no earthquake zone" but we sit right on a fault line!

We are also basically a "no hurricane zone" but when they come aboard land near here or we get the backlashes, we really do get some nasty weather.

We are fairly "safe and secure" here, but the devils of weather still get to us.

NO PLACE, is ever safe from Mother nature. There used to be an old TV commercial aobut a spread taht was nto butter, and it was given to Mother Nature, when she found out it was NOT butter, she said "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature" adn raised her hand to cause lightning strikes!

So, its not nice to fool Mohter Nature!

Mother Nature and Father time will always get you.

ALls we can do is hopefor the best and NO DAMAGE!

Well, I got the phone bill taken care of. Now we owe $0.00. The credit was there, just not applied!!!!  I'll bet they figured "lets bill and see if they forget about the credit". But, Next month we owe nothing, then Sept we owe about half, then Oct the full bill. I was geting ready to reup another $108 {for my prepaid for a year} on mine so we would have had nothing due in sept either, then some for Oct. Then Nov regular pay. we also thought we had a 19% discount from MOH's work off the phone...well its a discount off a portion of a part of a segment of the bill, NOT the whole bill...that IS BOGUS since they advertise it as a % off your bill! GRR

I found that the only part of the rental bill I owe is natrually the extr fee for 2 drivers, or $41. I am sure I can't get the ohter guys insurance to pay htat.

WE have T-Storms and nasty weather coming in..including possible tornadoes! Betwen 4pm-9pm. THAT will be interesting. so far we have ben relatively unscathed with storms! I think I go fillup esmerelda before just in case!

I have a couple of pledges and some funds building form some very kind folks here who want to help Jeffrey's vehicle situation along! It would be a GREAT B-day present if we could get him a new vehicle or new motor for the one he's got...If you want to pledge, please send me a PM Private message! We are growing a good fund!

well, I'd best go get trash and recycle bins and go get some gas, Im about on E and if power goes out, I want some gas to help along!

Morning all.  Not much time to model railroad this week- I work every day this week, and actually got the maximum hours they give at work.  It's gonna be a long week, but it'll be nice to have a good paycheck again, plus I am off friday night so I can hang out with my model railroad buddies.   Any NASCAR fans on here? If so, it was pretty cool to see the 43 win again for the first time since 99.  Well, today involves work, and sheltering from some strong/severe storms going to hit the Pittsburgh area, oh and I saw the Reading unit again.  I still need the Conrail and the Central of Georiga units.  Have a good day everyone.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a bowl of GO-Lean  cereal with fresh blueberries and a cup of Seneca Lake Blend dark roast coffee in my R&GV RR mug please.

So far the sun is peeking through the clouds here in the Finger lakews.  Won't last though.  Forecast calls for a high of 84°F with developing thunderboomers this aftyernoon and throughout the night.

Ulrich, take care of yourself!  BTW, Lake Placid property is way too expensive for most people....  Oh you said placid lake....  Whistling

I need to get myself moving here as I haven't bought my granddaughter her Birthday Present yet.  She had her birthday a couple weeks ago, but the family party is this Saturday.  I am also working train crew that evening at the museum so I hope I can balance being at both events!  Party is lunch time so I just have to find out when crew call is and leave accordingly.  may ask for p[ermission to arrive a bit late....

Catch you all later!

Mine centered around tourist railroads, railroad museums and train trips I've taken.

Mine would be focused on that log cabin overlooking a placid lake, with mountains in the background, a little fishing boat moored within reach, and that red pickup truck parked in the driveway. Add to that a not so big train room, a nice selection of red wines, a pile of firewood neatly stacked up and the vision would be just perfect!

A do-nothing day. I am not feeling well - rather weak.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee please, gotta get going. Thanks.

Really just topped in to wish Jeffrey a Happy Birthday though it is a day late. So… Happy B-Day Jeffrey! Intended on stopping in yesterday but things got away from me and next thing I knew…it’s today.

Welcome Steve!! Welcome The waitresses names are Janie and Flo on the weekends and the twins Zoe and Chloe during the week. Don’t worry about telling the difference, they’ll answer to either one. Kind of a joke with them.  There are a couple others that seem to pop in from time to time if the regulars need a day off.

Personally I think it’s wrong for the owners of a commissioned sales staff business to come in to sell unless it is due to a shortage of employees for the day. They already get the profits so they shouldn’t take money away from their employees. Just my opinion.

Rained last night so the yard mowing that should have been done yesterday and was reassigned until today may have to wait for tomorrow depending on how th afternoon pans out before w*rk tonight. Rescheduling things now.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Looks like Ulrich is having a glue conundrum, Galaxy is having fun (NOT) with phone bills and Mister Beasley has a great looking addition going there.

Good morning. It's 75° with 96% humidity. The high will be 92° and there's a fair chance of rain.

This morning I'm in a small community somewhere within a seventy mile radius of my home and it looks like my trip back home later may be through rain showers with a thunderstorm thrown in for variety. That's OK. I won't be driving. Harry and I had quite a time on ours quests last night. Actually his was last night and mine was this morning. For something like this there's a traveler and a guide. While one traveled in a trance-like state (self induced, no drugs involved, just self control) the other served as guide. This prevents the traveler from wandering outside of their chosen realm and being distracted. A quest can be used to seek answers or for entertainment. For our purposes it was strictly entertainment. Mine centered around tourist railroads, railroad museums and train trips I've taken. And it's more than just rehashing old memories. It's like going through your dreams and memories but without the usual chaos associated with dreams. It's the job of your guide to help you maintain control but losing control can be fun too but you never know where you're going to end up. Now I'm not at liberty to tell you what Harry experienced but I can tell you he had great fun with Julius and Augustus, his wildcats.

My only plan for today is to get some rest and enjoy the ride back home.

Hi Guys

Mr B : Layout rooms is looking good, good you have a AC unit in there.

Ken: Great news on building up strength, when you are working out you feel alot better. I find that anyways. When Im on my bike alot and drinking alot of water and Gatorade my body just feels cleaned out. Keep at but days when you need a rest take it, its just as imprtant to rest when you have to.

I have that job orientation today ( 1-4) wish it was in the morning but oh well, I should also find out what I will be working. I know there is saturday invloved but that doesnt bother me. There closed on Sunday.

Well I better get to cutting the grass and cleaning the flower beds for the week. That will take a few hours so I can acomplish a couple things today.

Tonight I have to sit down and order a few detail Items from walthers I need. I love being at this point on my layout where I have all my structures and scenery complete and can go back and detail. Also have close to 200 cars that need to be weathered, lol. I have a small swicthing layout but close to 350 cars and 25 locomotives. Which is more then enough for me. I maybe buy 5 cars a year if that and havent bought a loco this year.

Talk to you guys sometime later this afternoon to let you know how things were.

Good morning.  Ugggghh, I am suffering in this heat.  Good thing I've got the AC in the trainroom to retreat to when the weather gets like this.  Here's the benchwork for Phase 3A of my layout, roughly in place:

It will connect to the rest of the layout over on the left side, where you see an unfinished board with a level on top of it.  That board will be replaced by a liftoff bridge section, almost 3 feet long.  That bridge will be a causeway with a Pratt Truss bridge from Central Valley in the center.  The long-term plan is to add Phase 3B to the right side.  It will be a few long staging tracks.  Even further down the line will be a fold-up second level over the staging with a single-track branch line on it.

It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
