Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, Dark roast coffee and an egg and bacon on a muffin for me... To go! Yep will be heading out to my son's house in just a few minutes to watch the girls again today. The little one didn't have school today so DIL got a friend of hers to come over and do the morning watch....
I need to stiop at the CU on my way over to their house as I spent my last pictures of dead presidents last night on 3 Camp Cards our BS Council is using as a fund raiser to help Scouts pay for summer camps. I will use them as gifts to people as their is opnlty 1 or 2 businesses out of the 30 or so that I patronize.... My son will get one and will use it at a sporting goods store in the area. A lot of the businesses are fast food joints and big boxes, etc. Ick! Anyway my purchase will help an off the wall (Like bouncing off the walls and cieling all the time) ADHD Scout go to Summer Camp...
Tom, the guy even looks a bit like me... Scouting rounds a guy out, they say! Good article.
Going up to about 40 today and is already 31°F outside with a bright sun up in the sky. Snow and ice is melting rapidly.
Better get moving! Later!

Good morning. It's 40° with 100% humidity and areas of dense fog. The high will be 62° with some clouds.I have no plans today so I'll probably be playing some games on the //e and watching some movies. Blood sugar this morning was 163 and I did take my insulin last night (177 then).
Italian Roast coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please.Have a terrific day all.Healing thoughts for those in need.Cheers! Rob
well,
Went to the daunt-eeste. It can be daunting to go to the dentist, so I call him the daunt-eeste. Filled a couple of holes in my head. {like I don't have enough}. See him again in two weeks.
now sore of course.
Nothing else much accomplished worrth writting about.
a package arrived from Hawaii today. The Hawaiian colognes and parfumes we like. and the soap too. Fresh as a Pikake {jasmine} flower....smells good too.
Well, that about it. I see the diner is slow today.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
Knock,knock... Hello? anybody here? Oh. Janie, glad the waitresses are still here. Place looks empty!
I'll have a cup of decaf to warm me up. thanks.
I spent the afternoon watching Granddaughter #2. When I got there she had all her Thomas the train stuff out in expectation that Grandpa was coming to her house! As soon as I got there she had me come over to the dinning room table where she had started to put ikt together, then decided to get something in the living room, sat down on the couch and watched TV for most of the afternoon... We never did get to play with Thomas!
On the way home I had to stop and get my allergy shot then head over to the Dinosaur Dung place to fill up the PiP. I was running on fumes! Took 8 gallons of the stuff to fill my tank. I had only driven 573 miles on this tank... That came to about 73 mpg this time and set me back $17.60! Of course I did have $1.50 off per gallon this time.... I have to drive to Rochester tomorrow for the annual Museum Banquet or I probably would have waited until Tuesday to fill up. Wednesday I have to drive my sister to the airport in Rochester as she is going on another trip. That means I get to feed and take care of her cats while she is gone.
I got the stonework stained with the first coat tonight. Used a diliute, very dilute..., solution of WS Stone Gray. I will follow it with an even more dilute wash of India Ink to bring out the highlights and add a bit more darkness to it. Probably won't get to do that before Sunday.
Tomorrow is Granddaiughter #2's 5th. Birthday party. I will be going to that at lunch time and then come home and change clothes to go the Banquet...
See you all sometime tomorrow...
Didn't do anything today except watch some movies and TV shows and I played some games on the //e. Looked around on the forums and gave some advice here and there. I decided I need to add some additional weathering to the GP9 but that's a project for another day.Time for me to call it a night. Some y'all tomorrow.
TOM- Thanks for the link. Wonderful photos.
Along with the discomfort of my operation, I am now REALLY ticked off. With a shortened esophagus I have lost low 'C'. Cannot sing along with Warfield on OLD Man River anymore. Dang nab it.
Flip
Prayers for all.
Good Morning!
Yoohoo? Anybody here?
Kind of empty, this place. Patronage has dropped considerably in the last few weeks. Vinnie tells m that he may have to lay off staff - I see that Suki and Teri Yaki have already left.
Zoe, I am hungry. Make that a stack of hot cakes, sausages, eggs, buttered toast, mushrooms, a tall glass of OJ and lots of coffee in my new K.H. RR & Nav. Co. mug, please.
I am pondering to bite the bullet and go down the DCC route with my layout. Piko infrared DCC systems can be had for as little as $ 80 in The Bay - brand new. OK, these don´t have all the bells and whistles a much more expensive systems offers (only 8 function keys), but that should do for a 2-train layout. Makes wiring a lot easier...
The benchwork still gives me a headache. It needs to be light-weight for ease of transport, must be fastened to a wall, using steel racks and supports, and strong enough to have that lower leg of the "T" attached to it (how?). Need to discuss that with my new MRR friend, who is a carpenter by trade. I still hope to have that benchwork up by end of this month...
Flip - I know how you feel. I have lost my voice a long time ago, following my first heart attack. Before that, I used to sing in a choir (bass-baritone) and in an Irish Folk band. Now I don´t dare to sing when I am having a shower
Jeff - I am wondering what happened to that little package I send your way. The one Petra´s uncle sent to me left Oregon on the 25th and arrived here just about a week later. I have heard a number of times that mail send from Europe to the US takes much longer. Give me a holler when it arrives.
Todayßs going to be a "hot" day! Temeperatures will scratch on the 20°C mark. Last year, it was - 15°C on this day...
Have a good one!

Good morning from casino land (north).
I like to tell friends back east that Nevada's state bird is the showgirl.
So anyway...NOAA is forecasting it to be sunny and a high of 67. With what I've been hearing on the news lately and on this thread...all the cold and snow in the east...I guess this is one time where I'm glad I don't live in SE Pennsylvania anymore.
Planning on firing up the 8 mpg monstrosity (my 1989 Ford tuna boat) and make a trip to the trash transfer station in Dayton this afternoon to continue clearing my garage of crap.
Progress on my layout is coming along. After 3 years...it's finally looking like something. Doing some things in scenery I had not done before. Building a MOW storage area is one. Stacks of rail components and ties. Can be fun to get imaginative. Also working on a city scene.
Well. I'm a night shifter and it's getting late for me
Take care all

Good morning. It's 51° with 99% humidity and patchy fog. The high will be 65° and cloudy. No plans for today but who knows what may pop up. I may work on the GP9 later. Finally broke down last night and ordered a new remote for my satellite receiver/DVR. Got tired of fighting with the old one. I've had it for twelve years. The new one only cost me $20 so not too bad.
Morning All,
Just a cup of coffee Flo, thank you.
I have to admit I have been bad and not keeping up with the forum this week so I have some catching up to do.
Finished another section of the layout and all that is left is the run around the TT area until I am done (this time). I posted pictures in WPF.
MOH got upset with Centuy Link Prism, so now I get to sit at home Monday afternoon while Dish comes and installs. This happens about every 2 years. Want to guess who the last provider was that she was upset with and changed?
Friday I am meeting up with a co-worker and his Dad at Gainesville for our annual pilgrimage to the NHRA GatorNationals. I will only be there for Friday qualifying this year. I am looking forward to this a lot.
Tomorrow the family is coming over for BBQ ribs around supper time.
Hope everyone has a great weekend and prayers for those in need.

Gary BN 24 has a thread about E5 locomotives, and I just typed some information about E5's and also the California Zephyr. I get frustrated typin in teh forum when I have a long post like that one. It does not have spell check, and my typing is poor without it. I did a lot of editing after posting.
Ray .... Happy brithday to your grand daughter.
Curt .... Looks like you are making good progress on the layout.
What model railroading projects are in progress with you guys? .... I am weathering freight cars currently.

well, well,
A paackage arrived on my doorstep.
In it was the 2 "canes with a seat" I ordered, plus the Hawaiian Chant CD I ordered.
I was leery of the cane/seats. They looked flimsy in the pic. And there were about 100 different ones to choose from from, all saying the same: supports 250#s. Now I am a tad over that, so I wondered if that was 250#s for 1 second to give that rating, or was it really a good solid 250#s? It apears to be a good steady 250#s and looks well made and solid...as LONG as the plastic parts and plastic hinges hold up. THAT will be the key , though it looks to be solid thick plastic.
Why 2 of them? MOH wants one too, for the hip issue. Plus, if I pause to sit, what is MOH to do? stand there waiting for me? so MOH wants to be able to sit as well. SO we got 2 of them. GOod to go to the Ren. Faire/Celtic weekend!
I will listen later to the CD. Can't wait on that either.
Now all that remains to be delivered is the Hawaiian Kona coffee i ordered for MOH's B-day next month. Then all deliveries will be accounted for.
Still need to order the vest and the belt for the kilt outfit. then all shopping is done till we get to the Ren. Faire. No more buying betwixt then. can't affrod that and get the trailer leveled adn skirted.
Oh wow..the day has gone by MOH should be home in about ahour and a half!
I have done nothing but laundry all day.
ANd I think we have a sick kitty. He is 17 and I noticed this last week he could no longer quite jump up on the bed or MOH's recliner like he always could. this morning I found him lying in front of the tv stand, odd place to lay, now he has laid all day in between the bedroom curtain and the wall under the window. Odd place again... I think Monday a call to the VET is in order. MOH lost: the other 17 yr old kitty in 2012, mother in 2013, now this"puttty" in 2014? Will be hard on MOH. I said no more anmials when this on is gone, but MOH is "already replacing"" this one in mind and spirit and may in body too. OH, no!
Later
A rare look in 'the closet' where we see the Apple orchard. Train stuff is in the bottom half.
Sir MadogBefore that, I used to sing in a choir (bass-baritone) and in an Irish Folk band
I just have to say this ..... A German who used to sing in an IRISH FOLK BAND???? Now THAT has to be a first.
Cheers

At least on my computer, if you use the "quick reply" it has spell check. It doesn't show the thread you are responding to, but does help us that can't find the word we want to spell in the dictionary. Also helps when our fingers don't do as our brain tells them to do. Have fun, Richard
Edit: Forgot, it puts it on the screen in this odd format.
Another edit: Edits go in the regular REPLY format, but don't have spell check. Odd!

I was gonna say something like that, but forgot to!
A German dancing and Singing an Irish jig!
Oh, Danny, boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling....
From glen to glen and down the mountain side...
the summer's gone and all the roses falling....
T'is you, T'is you must go to Oktoberfest, and I must bide...
All the while instead of the Uilleann pipes, blowing the alpinehorn and dancing with a nutcracker and snacking on sauerkraut and stollen...
Hmm the German- Irish thing is just, well, strange....Oh! The images in my head! Bad ones at that!
Not that Ulrich is strange. THen again, he does belong here and we are all a bit strange...
{laughing near you Ulrich, not at you}
PS: I have a good Irish first name and a good Scottish last name...I am allowed...Now to get a kilt in my clan's tartan...to match my scarf...
Hiya gang!
Flo, can I just get a warm milk and a pillow??
66 hour work week is a killer! Hopefully I've only got another week before hours return to normal. Not only makes me tired and a bit grumpy.
Been catching up on the last few days threads, and now I see in addition to "blue" language, and personal attacks (which I am fully in agreement with) I see we are not allowed to link to "the competition". Pardon my opinion, but if that is not self serving, arrogant sensorship at its best, what is? I thought we were here for the benefit of the hobby,,,not Kalmbachs benefit? Besides, do you think removing the link will stop anyone from going to the sight anyway?? Mr Otte, sorry to see you had such a knee jerk reaction to one hobbiest's observation of an article and how he related it to us here.
Flip, glad your feeling better, maybe you should try singing along to "The Sound of Music"?
lesse,,,,I'm be back tomorrow,,,,if I can find me tartan ledehosen/kilt combo!

NCE über alles!
Looks like a 50% chance of rain tonight. That should cut the local merrymaking down to a dull rumble. Last night was terrible. Loud music, engines revving, tires screeching. That went on til well past midnight. I'm hoping tonight will be quiet. All I did today was make backup copies of some software. Being it's about forty years old a new replacement is somewhat hard to come by.Oh, I did remove some of the junk from under the layout and put it out by the roadside, mostly empty boxes and old packing material but also some bits and pieces of old computer equipment and useless bits of old freight cars.If I take some out each time I go outside I should be able to make a dent in it even if but slowly.Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
Evenin' folks!
Janie, just a decaf for me. I had a great meal at the banquet, just got home a few minutes agoi, got Blackie his Pill for his Diabettes, and took my own blood sugar reading... 173! Oh well, gotta be bad sometimes, I guess.
Speaking of Diabetes, Galaxy, what you are describing with your cat is exactly what I first saw in Blackie. Is your cat walking down on his knees at all on his back legs? Periferal Neuropathy is often the first outward sign a cat has diabetes. Yes get him to the Vet ASAP.
Our speaker tonight was Gene Blabey II, CEO and President of the Livonia, Avon, & Lakeville RR Corp. He gave an interesting history of the RR and how it came into being. BTW, If you have ever used Cool Whip, it got shipped to you on the L A & L. The stuff is manufactured in Avon, NY. The L A & L goes right by the R&GV RR Museum on what used to be the Erie Tracks way back when.
Got to set the clocks ahead and then get myself to bed!

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY
Well, another day of sunshine! Yesterday saw a lot of BBQ´s unpacked and in use - quite early this year. There is also the first shadow of green on the trees - 4 weeks ahead of time!
Flo, it´s Sunday, so I´ll go for a big breakfast, with all the works and plenty of coffee, please.
galaxyHmm the German- Irish thing is just, well, strange.
Galaxy - that´s not unusual. Irish Folk music enjoys a great popularity over here, maybe because we have lost our traditional folk music in the 18th century. And don´t forget, it was Kaiser Bill, who helped Eamon de Valera get the Brits out of Ireland. And now for that Lederhosen/Kilt-thing. Aside from the fact, that Lederhosen is a Bavarian garment, and not Prussian, the Bavarians are, just as the Irish and the Scots, a Celtic tribe, so there are lots of similarities.
No plans for the day. I may run over to my friends place to show him my new loco and change headlights on it.
Thoughts and best wishes to all!
