Morning guys
Haven't been in in a while as my defualt browser (Internet Exlporer) keeps saying it can't find this site. So I'm using Google chrome now.
Been pretty busy on the MR front. I put together a few more kits, and helped set up and maintain the MR club's modular layout that's being part of a christmas display. I still think one of my SD40-2s has a bent frame as the front pilot sits really high. I'm gonna swap the frames with my spare after work today or tomorrow morning.
I'll be catching up in the corner

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

kbkchooch So todays plan WAS to install a lockable switch on the furnace at SWMBO's work, then I was going to come home , get a few tubs of firewood inside, and do some modeling. But, the part I needed was across town, then SWMBO's car wouldnt start this morning. (crank, no start) So I had to drive to the Grainger store across town to get what I needed. I had to take SWMBO with me. This was good & bad. Good because she bought breakfast on the way, and bad because I had to get her to work, which meant I couldn't sneak a visit to M.B.Klein (modeltrainstuff.com) right down the street from Grainger! Got SWMBO to work, fixed the furnace, got a copy of the cars electrical system from a buddy, went home diagnosed the fault, went & got a new ignition switch, installed it, went and picked up SWMBO, then grocery store, then home. Whew! 106 miles of driving today. Oh, and I have to be in downtown B-more for an interview tomorrow morning. I can't wait till they perfect transporter beams!! Johnboy, Jeremy, Ulrich, continued prayers for your health.

Karl: I live not to far away from wholesaletrains.com {Lantz hobby shop} so I KNOW what a pleasure it is to get near a LHS like THAT! I would LOVE to get a chance to see MBKlien,.
Wholesaletrains.com' s brick adn mortar store has less inventory "in stock" now than it did, oh, about 2 years ago. I wonder if it is the same at MBKlien?
and YES, continued prayer candles are lighted for those named above and more! And for world peace.

Well it's been a good day. We went to the clinic in DeRidder this morning and got the problem with the prosthesis corrected. It's much more comfortable now and I can walk around with some ease instead of having to struggle with it. I've been getting in some short bits of walking. Things like when I had to go relieve myself I'd park my chair in my room and walk the twenty-some-odd feet to the bathroom then walk back after I finished. The longest bit I got was walking the length of three aisles at Walgreen's. My poor knee was so tired the muscles around the knee cap were so tight they ached. I also got some more practice going up and down some small steps. This afternoon my father went over to my place and started construction a small wood porch to take the place of the dangerous crude concrete block steps I have there. Those blocks plus some others will be supporting the porch. He says it'll be a five inch step up from the ground to the porch then another five inch step up into the doorway of my trailer. He asked me when I think I'll be ready to move back over there. I told him It'll be within a couple of months for sure but not until I feel I'm ready.Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Karl, glad to hear there wasn't much damage from the pine branch falling.
Hey Gang!
Flo, I think I'll have a banana split, no nuts, extra cherries please!
It's finally above freezing up here, and the constant sound of water trickling down the rainspouts from the melting was a welcome sound! Yesterday I even managed to traipse through the back yard to dump the woodstoves ash buckets out behind the shed. Thats where I found the branch. During the storm the snow must have been to much for one of the pine trees behind the shed. There I found a large pine bough, about 20 ft long, and 8 inches around laying on top of the cart that I pull behind the tractor for "lawn chores". Luckily there was no real damage to the cart or the shed. (or the new tractor inside the shed) Once all the mud & slop has a chance to dry a bit, I'll dispatch it with the chain saw & the wood chipper. The weather is supposed to be great for a few days. 50's tomorrow and Saturday, and 60's Sunday!!
Ray, I understand the kitties feeding issue. Midnight is diabetic with his "special food", Tink has "special food" for urinary tract issues. When our backs are turned, they eat each others food. Short of locking one upstairs and one in the basement, we can't win. So we concentrate on Midnights sugar levels and adjust the med to suit, and leave it at that otherwise we're

Evening All,
Hope everyone is doing well. Hard to believe Christmas is less than a week away, seems like it should still be March.
I spent around 3-4 hours working on layout frame work today. My son helped me at the end and now I feel stiff after all the bending I have done today. Next week I plan on painting it.
Dennis- Very nice work on the cabin car.
Jeremy- I am glad you are doing better. As a EMS provider I would much rather deal with a issue as it is starting as compared to as it becomes life threatning. Don't be afraid or embarresed to call. What I can't believe is that the hospital kept you waiting. Around here, saying you have CP gets you a immediate EKG. Take care of yourself.
Jeff- Glad you and your leg are doing better.
John Boy- Praying that you are doing well.
Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.
Good afternoon - temperatures in the 30s with some sun, but not enough to do much melting.
I use cash only at my LHS. It's one of the few places I do that. Remember, the merchants pay for the service, so by using cash I save my LHS a bit of money. For a chain restaurant or big-box store, I don't really care about saving them money, but an LHS can use it and it costs me no more. I use cash at the local watering hole, too. If some of those tips don't get reported to the IRS, well, it's not my problem.
My daughter wanted a credit card now that she's out of college and working. (Yes, working! Imagine that!) She has a card on our account for emegencies, but she wanted one of her own, and she's always been responsible. She worried that she had no credit history and wouldn't get one, but I pointed out that she's had a checking/savings account at the bank, and the card they offered was pretty good. They were happy to give her a card.
Still not skiing. SWMBO came down with a bad cold Tuesday night. One of her "folk remedies" is to make a garlic tea and drink it. Unfortunately, the boiling garlic stinks up the whole house. I keep the train room and office doors closed so I don't have to inhale it. It gives me a headache and I get what seems like sinus pressure behind my eyes. Strangely, she was talking to the doctor on the phone this morning, and those were the same symptoms she described. Hmmmmmm.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
I got to the clinic this morning and showed the doc exactly what was going on with the prosthesis and he took it into the back room and did some grinding on it. He brought it back and showed me what he'd done. The piece he filed down is very small and I didn't think it would make much of a difference. Boy was I wrong! It's like a new prosthesis! I can walk around with some ease now and it doesn't feel like the thing is trying to dig a hole in my knee. I also asked him about the possibility of making it waterproof for the shower. He says nada, nix, nein, no way! The best thing is to put a waterproof cast and wound protector on it. So we stopped at Walgreen's and got one. It looks like it's made of the same stuff we used for vinyl lined swimming pool patches.
Sir Madogwe don´t have that type of card here in Germany. My credit rating with the banks is in such a good shape that none of them would ever issue a credit card, not even a debit card. I am a cash-only person... Sigh
Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, just a refil of my dark roast coffee, please....
Took Blackie to the vet. Mixed news. His sugar is still higher than it should be, but better thajn it was, and in the absence of anything symptomatic, the vet is keeping on the pills. He can't have any kittie treats anymore... He will not be happy! I will hand feed his brother treats when he wants them. She said he could have just a bit of the canned food as a treat (the stuff they both were throwing up when they first were on the diabetic diet), or I can freeze some of the dry food as some cats like it that way as a treat for some reason. Go figure. I will see what I can do for the little guy. I want to avoid having to check his blood sugar daily and giving him insulin.
I guess I just read another good reason to avoid the "Big Box" stores. I check my CU accounts daily including my Credit Card. My info may have been compromized in the mess with Adobe a month or so ago. I will be signing up for the credit check through the company they are using to help their customers. Galaxy, there are some good reasons to just use cash, I don't like to carry a whole lot of Pictures of dead presidents on my person though....
The big yellow thing has been peeking out from behind some clouds most the day so far. The roof panels are finally cleared, so I may just make a couple kWh of electricity today. First time in over a week....

In case you did nit see the news, there has been a major identity theft. If you used your credit card or debit card in a Traget Store from November 27th through December 15th, your data has been stolen. If so, you should contact the card company to replace your card.
We avoid using our credit cards and I'm glad we do. Shelley and her friends were shopping at Target a fews days ago. Shelley paid cash for her stuff, but all of her friends used credit cards.
Regarding model railroading, my friend Gus will be here later this morning, and we will be debugging assorted DCC problems.
Ulrich ... Good to see you.
Jeremy ... Glad you are feeling OK, and I hope the doctors can solve the problem. Now you can somewhat empathize with the older guys who have heart issues.

Good Afternoon!
Not yet 4 pm and the sun is down already! Feels like I have missed the day, as I took a long mid-day nap. Still feeling totally exhausted, although there are signs of a little improvement. At least that´s what my doc says...
As long as I can´t start to work on a layout, I continue to draw up my dreams. Added some more details to the last "painting". This one would fit nicely into the shelf in this room...
I have been trying to locate a source for HO scale track spikes (for code 100 rail), but no luck. Wherever I search for, I end up at Micromark´s web page. As I don´t have a CC nor a PayPal account, I cannot order there
Jeff - I hope the doc will be able to make you feel more comfortable with that new leg!
Continuing prayers for Johnboy!
Well, 25F!!! A heat WAVE! and NEAR 60F in TWO DAYS??? "December thaw" I'll call it. ANd flooding is on the horizon. SO IF we flood and we are out of power once a gain, y'all won't hear from me! The stupid, I mean stupid power company has the substaton in low lying area and it flooded in '05, '06, '10, 'the big flood of '11. They are on PLENTY of notice that, what, some 20K customers are without power for at least 5 days each time when it floods. You'd THINK they'd build one somewhere higher???
Rudy Maxa, the Travel guy on PBS, was on Maui, and the Big Island of Hawaii this AM. It's a show I've seeen so well I could narrarate it, but still, it makes my heart go longering for...Hawaii. If I am diligent about finances, we might just get there again next year. MAYBE. Especailly with MOH's new higher income. Depends on how much we have a tax bite now.
The Fine Washables are in the delicate cycle of the washer {my wool socks, MOH's silks}. I don't think it actually runs long enough when it does run, so I kept resetting it. I mena 3 mins of gentle light swishing isn't enough to clean certain things, i don't think.
Put together a MADE IN AMERICA wooden hand-dry old fashioned rack for the fine washables to dry on. Was a tricky devil but I got it. GOOd thing I did as MOH would have just banged with the regular hammer and broked the rods. I used a rubber mallet of course.
Finished off the dishes. Now have to go "salt the driveway" with the non-salt stuff. Warming up will melt it and turn to ice tonight.
Then I see what other trouble i get into.
Myabe lots, maybe none.
DUnno yet.

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!
Good morning. It's 53° with 96% humidity. The high will be 70° but feel like 65°.My appointment at the prosthetics clinic is at 10:30 so that leaves plenty of time for breakfast at McDonald's, my father's favorite place (prices are lower he says). That's another place I don't buy anything from. I'll have the Big Breakfast. There's nothing on their menu that won't blow my blood sugar out of the water so there's no point in looking for something special. Back to the clinic. Hopefully the doc will be able to make the adjustment on my leg and make it feel comfortable to wear. Having that one little piece digging into my knee with every step gets old fast.Time to go. See y'all later.
Hi Guys,
Felt great throughout the night and today so far. The wife has to go to work today and am under orders from her to not do the following
-Cleaning
- Vaccuming
- Shoveling snow
Or any activity that involves heavy lifting until we find out whats going on with me. They might have the Eco cardiogram result in today ( dont know if I spelled it right ) they told me that if it was a dire situation that my docotr would have got it back right away. So hopefully that means I might be ok, guess I will have to wait and see. Well Im going to continue work on these lumber piles I have on the go. They are calling for a messy weekend. Snow then rain then freezing rain back to snow?? who knows, will have to wait and see
I will be back in later

No work on Oliver's adventure today. I just didn't feel like it. The legs been causing me a little pain today but nothing like it did yesterday. That was crazy. Hopefully it gets fixed tomorrow.Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
Hi Guys
I have been feeling pretty good today. Nothing back from docs office today so will call tomorrow. Spent a peaceful afternoon working on the layout and got more done then I thought I would.
talk to you guys in the morning.
BroadwayLion LION had chest pain one night. I called the Prior and told him that I was not feeling well, and was calling an ambulance. Went to the hospital, pain did not let up, but EKG was normal. They sent me on to a bigger hospital and they did an angio gram. Oain was still very bad, but eventually subsided. The cardiologist said I was ok, and if the pain comes back call a surgeon because it is probably the gall bladder. Surgeon took out my gall bladder prophlytically and I have had no pain since. ROAR

Hmmm...Anybody else notice something about the Lion's post as above? Him Talks in 1st person here!!!! Him no talk in third person and is near and dear to self instead of him being removed from himself! Methinks him made a mistake?
Went to the CU, the dealer to get a KIA rear wiper, and to get some hairs cut. FIrst i told her to "only cut the gray ones", then I said "OUCH" when she did! {i think I got that form Ray or somebody on here?} SHe giggled nad I said Ouch the second time nad she giggled again.
She was shocked, as was the pharmacist this morning that I had all my XMAS shopping done before TG!
I have one more thing to do tomorrow, not really a present, but it will turn into one...back to Wally WOrld FOR ONE ITEM, NOT $100 worth! FOr being a "cheap store" It can sure add up!
Dunno anything else.

DOn't you just wish you were eating here?
Maybe not. I am the crazy one and I have papers to prove it!
CederstrandDoes anyone know if two-rail track for this stuff is still available new and where to buy it?
Since we are swapping chest pain stories, here is mine. It started with a pain that felt like I had pulled something, mostly when I took a breath. It got progressively worse until every beat of my heart produced excruciating pain. They put me on morphine as they tried to diagnose the problem. It the end, it turned out to be pericarditis, inflamation of the fluid sac that holds the heart. The treatment was a course of anti-inflamitories. This was about ten years ago and I haven't had any problems since.
