Music  Here comes Santa Claus, Here comes Santa Claus, right down Santa Claus lane[/color]Music

Merry Christmas EVE!

Wellm, guys and Sue if you are here, hope Santa brings you lots of goodies to your liking. He's been under our tree and tomorrow we will open presents!

No train stuff again this year, was hoping for some Z scale stuff, but bills got in the way.

Tee Hee: I went to the Credit Union today and the usual gal who waits on me, we had a conversation like this:

I said "Have you been good so Santa can bring you lots of presents?"

She said: "Oh, I have been VERY good"...

I said: "Oh, so it's a new car he's bringing you!"...

SHe said: "oh, I haven't been THAT good...I've had my moments!"

Sleep well, and may there be a Train Under the tree in the morning!!!

No computer time thus far today. I was busy doing this and that until my father left for work. Had a chat with my niece this afternoon while she was wrapping gifts. She's one of the 'last minute' crowd when it comes to that. When she finished that she took off to visit her husband at work. That's about a three hour drive. Just over two hours the way she drives. I put the gifts I wrapped for my family on the trestle table in the great room so they can be packed up to my sisters place tomorrow. Christmas dinner will be served there also. No turkey. It's Tex-Mex. Her enchiritos are famous. One by itself is enough for a meal. Many people can't finish one. I can tackle two plus the dinner fixings. There will also be tacos, refried beans, sweet potatoes and whatever else she whips up. My father is taking a large ham so there will be something he considers to be Christmas dinner.

Good Evening on this night of all nights!

We are back from the visit to our son´s place. It was good to see the little one, as we have not seen him for months. We spend about 5 hours with him and his GF - I will tell you more about it tomorrow, I still have to chew on a few things before I will be able to swallow them.

Petra and I will spend a quiet evening tonight, share some good old memories when times were good, will laugh a little, but also cry a little about the losses we had to bear this year.

Peace on Earth, and goodwill to all men.

Blessings to all my friends NOB, SOB and Downunder and prayers to those struck by illness or misshap.

Galaxy- Boy I can’t even imagine living in a place that small….and still have BrendaSurprise Laugh. We have 1800 sq ft three bedroom, two bath, greatroom, dining room and kitchen. Plus 1800 downstairs and we STILL don’t have enough room for shhhhtuff. Now me, I could do it. I agree with the anti-loft. Wouldn’t want to have to negotiate the ladder. And the one with upstairs, cabins I think, well let’s just say I think with the stair design, you had best get your bed and furniture in before you set the roof…

Todd: 1} remember we live in a 920 Sqft trailer with no basement. SO half the size of your grandios cottage!

2} I'd add some 6-8 feet to the great room to make it 15 x oh about 17feet, so about the size LR we have now, actually a litttle bigger.

3} If we had a basement too, it'd be grand.

4} the 1/2 bath would go where the closet by the door is and into the BR closet in front { Seal off the clsoet ffrom hall and The toilet in the closet facing the BR the mini-sink in the part of the closet and a shorter BR closet will result}. with a full closet behind the front door by moving said door over, we'll have I think ample closets.

5} the closets in the rear BR {extended to 8 feet wide} would be "conjoined" all one closet along that wall.

6} the loft WOULD be over the frotn BR for Atttic style storage. The loft would also be over the kit area for sleeping for guests or maybe storage too. Just no loft over the Great ROom.

7} Those stairs you think you can't get your BR furniture up? YOU CAN, except maybe a KING size and we only have a queen. I've been in houses with those types and size. works OK. Not as tight as you might think.

I am thinking of maybe building one here if we ever get the chance, and obviously one for Hawaii, where every SQFT costs upwards of $250++ and so Has to COUNT there!

Oh well we'd probably be better off buyng an old small house already dilapidated and fixing up!

Dreams, wonderful dreams..

Have a great holiday evening!

Mornin' everyone!

"I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas....."  Ah yes, everything is white outside today and is supposed to stay that way for a couple days here in the Finger Lakes.  Not a whole lot, but a couple inches of nice fluffy snow to make evertything look right for the day.

Zoe, I'll have a cup or two of Seneca Lake Roast Organic Coffee in my my R&GV RR Mug and a couple of those sour cream glazed donuts you have over there on the counter.

I have to get to w*rk.  Have a big dish of my Famously Good Winter Squash to make for Christmas Dinner at my son's house tomorrow.  I will be going over for breakfast also.  Will then probably leave for a few hours and then head back over for dinner.

Just got an email that the missing gift will be delivered by UPS (says "out for delivery") today.  So I now am a happy Santa with all my shopping done and only a couple gifts to wrap!

Later!

Okay...does the diner sell booze? Because I am ready for a double of Napoleon brandy in my coffee.

Sure. Have all you want. Just don't get silly and try to tickle Vinny. That would be a bad idea.

Time to get back to playing with the trains.

Jeffrey- The scissors and ribbon bow thing must have been popular back then, cause I rememeber as a kid doin the same thing ata about the same time. Ok, mabe a couple years later as I doubt my Mother woulda let me have the scissors at 3 (she was a beautician so our scissors were old hair scissors. long, sharp and pointy. Very pointy), but around '70 she sure would.

Hey Barry! Glad you stopped in.

I do hope more MIA’s stop in for Christmas. That would be nice.

Wow Ray, you really did need a hair or two cut didn’t you!Laugh

Good luck on the benchwork Richard. I think you’ll find it isn’t really all that bad once you get going. Got any questions don’t hesitate to ask here. Plenty of help waitin if you need it.

V8 Dennis- Glad you made it safe. Problem with computers is they’ve made them so simple so you don’t have to do as much cause it does it for you. Problem is in doing that…., they made them difficult.

Inch- Didn’t know you’s havin surgery. Or if you told me I musta forgot. Last I talked to you on the phone when I had puter problems, I was at w*rk and waving people off so some of what you said mighta got lost in the delivery guys trying to show me something that didn’t amount to nothing. Anyway, our Christmas will be fairly quiet too. We’ll be sayin prayers for the doctors to do it right and you be fine. And of course for Andy and Lisa. (I think you told me about Andy)

Gotta wrap Brenda’s presents this morn before she gets home from w*rk at noon. Then just kinda leisurely prepare for…..snacky things as she calls them this evening. Time frame? I don’t remember. I guess late afternoon say…5? I’m sure I’ll find out soon enough.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good morning. It's 31° with wind chill of 27°. Humidity: 99%. The high will be 52° and feel like 56°.

We had a heavy frost last night and now nearly everything is white. That's about the closest we get to a white Christmas here.

No plans for today that I know of. There's no telling what my father might have planned. My back and right thigh got quite the workout yesterday and are letting me know all about it this morning. Taking a day-long break would probably be a good idea.

All my Christmas presents for the family are wrapped and tagged. Being a poor man I save money wherever I can. The wrapping paper is recycled and I made the bows by pulling strips of paper over a scissors blade then looped them in different patterns and taped them in place. Something I learned to do back in 1965.

And a short video.

Happy Christmas eve everyone

We got a little snow last night, the light fluffy kind. Have been up since 6 doing housework and shoveling. Just sitting down now with a cup of coffee and a book I just got off amazon. Its one by Pelle Soeborg called "Detailing projects for freight cars and locomotives". Later on this afternoon we go over to my parents for christmas eve dinner ( lasgana ) and then back over in the morning for christmas with them before going over to the wifes moms for dinner. Dont know if I will get any modelling time in today or not. Well, I should go give the wife a hand with the Oatmeal cookies she is making.

Talk to you guys later tonight

Mornin,,, an irish coffee please Zoe. Downright cold here in the woods at 0, for 4’th time this year already, generally don’t see that till Jan into Feb.
Christmas, started for us last Sat, with #1 son’s inlaws get-ta-gather, they have every year, for family n friends, then Sun at my moms. Christmas day will be kinda quiet here, we go to Deb’s dads that morning then her mom’s that night. We generally do ours the Sun after, but that’s delayed this year, because I have surgery on the 26’th and will be down for a couple week.
RAY,, you look good as Santa.. I don’t get to this year, the gas passer said I had ta shave off my beard for surgery. 1’st time I’m without it in 28 year.
GARRY,, hope you have a safe trip.
Plans for the day is a trip to Terre Haute, Mother makin candy, some train time, church tonight I think and that’s bout it.
Thoughts n prayers for all those in need and JOHNBOY,,,, good luck with the rest of the treatments.
I’d like ta add my nephew and niece [my sister’s 2 kids] to the list. Andy found out in Oct, he had in-operable cancer in his pancreas. His treatments seem to be going well so far. And Lisa just found out, she has a cancer spot on her liver. Her treatments are supposed to start shortly. Hope every-one has a Merry Christmas and ya’’ll take care

Galaxy - After 4 years, I am still chewing hard on my fall from riches to rags - in fairy tales, it is usually the other way around, so what´s my story, then?

I will use the quiet holiday season to build a cardboard mock-up of that critter. With some builds from friends in that German forum, I have now drawn up the final version:

Sir Madog

Galaxy - Looking at the floor plan and the pictures of that house has re-kindled an old dream of mine. I am a little sad I can´t realize this, at least not in this life. There was a time when I could have bought a house like this just out of petty cash - well, tempi passati. If n´ when I win a couple of million $$$, I´ll have one built for you and YOH, and Jeff!

ULRICH: do NOT be sad, for I don't know IF MOH and I will ever be able to build such a cute little place {with a few  modifications} or not. We'd like to retire to Hawaii, but don't know if that dream will ever come true or not. Heck, we'd settle to own a small little Cape Cod style house instead of the mobile home we are in! MOH is your age, so can be as difficult here for  MOH as for you there job wise!...MOH is lucky to have gotten the job now..though it IS still part time at 30 hours and that is not coming up as 30 hours YET..hopefully it will lead to full time...

There are lots of things in life we'd all dream of that may be unattainable, but one can still dream. Maybe if we win the lottery!

Dreams can still drive life and vitality you know!

Petty cash would never have been my abilities, so I know only the dream of which you speak there!

Have  A GLORIOUS CHRISTMAS With your son!

Have a SAFE trip!

Good Morning!

December 24th, 2013 - this days marks 50 years of being into model railroading! What started out as a toy train to play with, has turned into a life-long hobby, if not a craze Smile, Wink & Grin

We will be driving to my son´s place in a handful of hours. All the gifts are wrapped and packed. It´ll be the firts time in 30 years we are not at home to celebrate the Holy Night. I hope we make it to Hannover - we are under a storm warning.

Barry - good to see you again. We missed you quite a lot, y´ know.
