Good afternoon. It's 48° with 48% humidity. How often does that happen? The high will be 52° with some clouds.

It's a nice sunny day. Good weather for walking around outside. I've already done a little of that. Got my new leg this morning. It's a bit stiff but that should work out soon. The doc said to make sure I walk on the heel, not the toes. That way it'll stretch out the muscles and tendons in the back of my thigh and up into my back. Bad thing is it's probably hurt like the dickens for a month. That's OK, I have a high tolerance to pain. I've got it on in the photo below. As you can see I'm looking my best and wearing strictly formal attire. Maybe you should send the kids out of the room.

I'm working on getting the bend out of the knee so I can stand up straight.

No plans today. I might work on Oliver's adventure later.

Sir Madog

Good Morning Folks1

I am still in the doldrums and not feeling up to snuff. That "little" heart issue keeps me bothering. Climbing that one flight of stairs into our apartment seems to take ages. I am on medications, but might have to undergo surgery.

For the time being I have shed all MRRing plans, which adds to misery.

Galaxy - that´s "Waldgraf", which literally translates into "Earl of the Forest".

Ulrich: first: prayers for you. I have minor heart issues and take meds for it, if not it goes into spasms and gives me fits. Not fun, I feel faint, flush and about to pass out. The neds keep it beating more evenly on time.

Second: I Told you before, that things {that is words or phrases} that get into the English language from German MIGHT not be accurate. Just like you say you have a distinct accent like Herr Flick, the warping of words or phrases are the "American accent" for the German words or phrases! SO don't be offended! Be happy we have adopted a wordor phrase/meaning from the GErman!

RAY: I am just tired of either searching them out or making them up! I about vomited this morning at the thought of putting one up! Suddenly limerick schimerick...you get the idea..

Well, so far I have tried to sleep off a headache..could be a fringe migraine. Aspirin makes me drowsy... so  I took a couple and went to bed. MOH leaves in aobut 2 hours for wrok, can I stay awake? WHo knows>

Well, I don't have to go down to the bar for a cold one today.  Mother Nature brought it right to my door.  It's the first serious cold snap of the season, what's left of that deep freeze that's been making its way across the country, I suppose.  We were planning on going skiing for a few days, but the weather is just so unpleasant that we've postponed it until next week.  Skiing just a couple of hours a day and then being cooped up the rest of the time doesn't seem like much fun.  On the other hand, this time of year the garage makes a perfect beer fridge.  Beer

What? You're that age too? About the time your brain looks at your body and considers a trade-in on a new model?

About the time you think of trading your 66-year-old wife for a couple of 33-year-olds.  Whistling

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, bowl of organic granola cereal and lots of hot dark roast coffee to fill my FGLK mug please...

Chilly outside today so far.  Currently 15°F with a high of 20°F maybe later.  Sun was out shining for a while but has now gone behind the clouds rolling in for the rest of the day.  We got a dusting of white stuff yesterday evening and everything is still covered with a light powder outside.

Galaxy!!!!  No limerick this morning???  Why?  I missed reading it this morning.  I like them (even though I pick on you sometimes).

Jeffrey, hope by now you have two legs to stand on!  I hear it costs an arm and a leg though....  Uh, nevermind!

Ulrich, take care of that heart!  Only one you have and it is a big one!  (That is a compliment, I hope...)

Have yet to hear back from a couple family members about their sides of the family for correct addresses to send Christmas Cards to.  Guess I'll get started printing up the ones I know are correct and get some in the mail (fee-mail that is).

Catch you all later!

My Thomas cargo cars for our Christmas train arrived yesterday.  We had gone to Michael's earlier and bought some minuture presents, hoping they would work.  The result was even better than expected.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee please. And…, since it’s 5°F out there…..more coffee. Thank you.

Real cold.

I amend my previous statement about the way I shop. I agree with Garry. The exception is my FLTS (Favorite Local Train Store). There I do like to browse.

G- The funeral home your Grandma used had a different deal than Brenda’s G’ma had that I was referring too. Like I said IF it’s available. Hers was more like an insurance policy, but only for funeral expenses, and with an end cost through the funeral home and, of course, only at that funeral home. Like I said she didn’t even get the thing paid off and the funeral home did the service at no additional charge to the family or estate. Paid in full so to speak. Oh, one thing was the availability of the casket chosen. If that one was not available you could pick a similar one. Still, even though it may be more at the time of the actual funeral, it still has to be waaaay cheaper on the estate or the family at the time. To each their own. Personally, I don’t have a prepaid anything either and probably won’t.

Brenda and I lean more towards practical gifts of sorts I suppose. We have so much stuff we reeeeally don’t need much nice to have but what do you really do with it or use it for don’t actually need it but looky we got it stuff.

Jeffrey- Hope all goes well today and you come home with you leg. Hmm That doesn’t sound quite right.Laugh

My prayers include you too Ulrich to get this heart issue finally sorted out.

My plans today before w*rk? Try not to freeze. That’s all I hope for today. Not to freeze.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good morning.

Ulrich ... We're praying for your heart issue. I think you should be at your cardiologist to identify why you are so weak. Also, keep in contact with us because we care about you. If you need to go to the hospital, have Petra or somebody send a PM to one of us.

Jeff .... Praying for you too for your new leg.

Prayers continue for JohnBoy.

Galaxy. ..... Good of you to keep those candles lighted.

We're headed to Hopkinsville shortly as I said we would last night.

I'm thinking of asking Santa for this brass locomotive for Christmas.

Good luck today Jeff. hopefully you might be back in your place by Christmas??

No plans for today yet, aside from doing some layout work this afternoon. I have to get up some existing scenery ( that might involve cutting, and using a small chisel ) to make room for the lot im going to need for the lumber. There still calling for snow friday-Saturday so might have to break out the snow shovel on sunday when all is said and done. We got a bit today also. Also might throw in the DVD christmas vacation to listen too, I have seen it so many times I know it word for word, lol. I also like watching the Home Improevment Christmas episodes.

talk to you guys later

Jeffrey..sincerely..you know I want you to walk to your xmas dinner...and run around the competetion...and to be able to get into your own house again!

Staying with my father and "evil step mother" {If I had one} would NOT be my idea of fun! If I ever need something other than crutches or my current cane, I would need to stay eleswhere too..expecially a wheelchair as this trailer is built with a closet 2.3 feet in front of the front door. An "s" of right angles are needed to get in here pivoting on your feet. WHen EMTs have come and insist i NOT walk to the ambulance, they have to use the "carrier chair" to get me out of here. I hate that contraption.

I'd have thought by now you'd have one. I hope they get it to fit WELL for you the sooner the better!

Prayers that that happens.Angel

Good evening.

Jeff ... I hope your appointment goes well.

We were in Hopkinsville this evening with friends for dinner. We go back there tomorrow for medical appointments. .... Tomorrow, Hopkinsville is observing the anniversary of a deadly plane crash which killed over 250 soldiers from nearby Fort Campbell on December 12, 1985. .The crash in 1985 was in Gander, Canada.

I'm still working on my passenger car project.

Happy Model Railroading.

No work on Oliver's adventure today. Earlier I was looking for a 5.25" disk holder. I found I already had one here and it didn't cost me a cent. A 6"x6"x6" cardboard box. I cut out the top and presto, instant floppy disk holder!

Tomorrow I go to DeRidder, hopefully to pick up my new leg. If all is right with it I'll be bringing it home with me.

Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Another thing I forgot to mention. I have to get food donations together to take over. I also get a couple new toys and take them to the fire hall as they have the toy drive there. And we get some cat and dog food to take over to the animal shelter. I need to get going on that soon.

Evening guys,

Brrrrr its a balmy -22c at the moment here and snowing. There still calling for a storm on Saturday. Cant say as I have missed having to lotion everyday so my skin doesnt dry out and crack and apply lip balm so my lips dont get chapped. Ahhh Canadian winters, lol

I have been painting and weathering lumber piles today and also painting telephone pole insulators. Worked on that for a few hours and called it quits. I will do some more tomorrow. I am cutting down some trees ( on the layout, lol ) to provide some more room beside the lumber mill for the mill lumber piles. I am aiming for christmas to be done with all the paining and additional scenery work, but if it doesnt get done no big deal, long cold hard winter ahead to do that.

I am going to swing by the hobby shop again Friday morning to pick up a few more of those lumber kits and maybe a few more of those MIG pigmnets.

Talk to you guys tomorrow

I remember that song. By Gary Puckett and the Union Gap. I was seven years old when it came out in '68. My older sister was twelve and was nuts about it. She played it ALL the time!

Jeffrey, hope everything fits properly and you will once again have more than a leg to stand on! That is great news!

I'm hoping everything goes well tomorrow. I'd truly love to be able to WALK to Christmas dinner. Getting in and out of my sisters house at Thanksgiving was a nightmare! Going up and down the steps was easy. Just sat on the steps and scooted up or down on my butt.

*

No work on Oliver's adventure today. I just didn't feel like it. I did however make a special label for the front of one of my disk drives:

That toggle switch allows me to turn the drives write protection detection circuit off so I can use the back side of a diskette without having to cut a notch in it. I did have ON and OFF written on a couple pieces of adhesive tape but that just didn't look right. I have three more drives that have no write protect capability at all ((S=Slot, #=slot Number, D=Drive and #=drive Number) S7,D2. S5,D1. S5,D2). Those are great for making my own unnotched disks that will run as permanently write protected on other Apple drives. My boot drive, Slot 7,Drive 1 recognizes write protection as does Slot 6,Drive 2. I labeled those non-compliant drives so my friends who come to play games from time to time Know exactly which ones they are.

The thin label above the diskette opening says it all.

After I get back into my trailer I may get my Apple's word processor program up and running and make a detailed up-to-date roster of all my locos and cars. That'll keep me busy for a while. I'd LOVE to see somebody hack that from the internet.

ah, well. I know, I know, stay away form the egg nog! {ingredients: sugar, cream, eggs, corn syrup, vanilla, spices...that is IT no booze}

That's the problem Galaxy!!!  You need to add an ample amount of Dark Rum to the recipe...  About one part in 4 would do nicely.  That is the way I make it and and I never get the urge to write limericks after imbibing...  WhistlingLaugh

Jeffrey, hope everything fits properly and you will once again have more than a leg to stand on!  That is great news!

I have been multitasking most of the day.  Printing Christmas Cards right now.  These are the ones I send out without my 'funny' letter mocking xmas letters and such...  Also glue is drying down celler on the workbench in the train room, and I have been making a pile of fire starters from old paper egg cartons and the remains of candles my sister gives to me from her house.  Need to go feed the wood stove again......

Checking addresses on my mailing list tonight and hope to get the envelopes all printed so I can get them in the mail (feemail) tomorrow when I head out to a doctors appt.  I have a follow up on the CPAP therapy.

Later!

I got a phone call this morning from the prosthetics clinic. They want me there tomorrow morning. They said something about a leg.

Now you'll get a leg up on the competition...

I'll bet you're a 'leg man' now Jeffrey!

Good thing they didn't call about a breast! WHat would you do with THAT?

Personally we like thighs...because we like dark meat....more meat than a leg....

Ok, Ok, I know, enough already! Not making fun. Just laughing near you, providing some levity in here and wishing you can now run a marathon... some do once they get their prosthetic legs...You too?

I've been hitting the Egg Nog, can you tell?

There was  a man in a cranbery bog,

It was cold there in the fog

but he picked the cranberries,

wishing they were cherries,

and waiting for some egg nog.

ah, well. I know, I know, stay away form the egg nog! {ingredients: sugar, cream, eggs, corn syrup, vanilla, spices...that is IT no booze}

best get on with dinner..stuffed red peppers! MOH has a very busy and strange day today with clients, so I have to fit dinner inbetwixt the day..we will eat soon. Easy, it has the veggie, meat, bread crumbs,  spices {garlic, sweet onion sauce, pepper, salt} already in a neat package...tasty!

No mail but one local charity begging for donations...we qualify for many charitie's offerings, wish they would leave us alone!

later gators...

EDIT: Well I'll be a Monkey's Uncle!!! I got TIPPY TOP  again! My lucky month! Eat up...Daisy..serve the men well, and I have a Christmas bonus for you...

Johnboy, I am also keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!

I have a few errands to do this morning, then need to get the Christmas Cards done.  Also wat to spend time w*rking on the Blacksmith's Shop.  I'll do some on the cards then head down to the trainroom and do a but...  Then reverse the process, so to speak.

Catch you all later!

Good morning. It's 36°F with 92% humidity. the high will be 52°F and cloudy.

I got a phone call this morning from the prosthetics clinic. They want me there tomorrow morning. They said something about a leg.

No plans set in stone today. I'll probably do some more work on Oliver's adventure. I got all the remaining seating compartments of the coach programmed in yesterday. Now I have to go back and program in what goes on in the newly added ones. Compartments 7-4 are already done complete with variable driven events. 3-1 have what's in them but no events yet and D4-D1 are empty at this time and have no events. Soon I'll be putting in things for Oliver to do, find and interact with.

Yesterday when I was cleaning the chips in my mothers old IIe I broke a leg off one of the RAM chips. Well I wasn't going to leave it with 56k RAM. That's why I get old boards and cards. There's always a need for spare parts. I pulled a RAM chip from a non-op board and used it to replace the damaged one. I hooked the  computer up afterward and ran the diagnostics on the RAM and it was green across the board. If only DCC boards were that easy to fix.

Galaxy- Yup. Life/Death Insurance is too complicated to buy over the phone with just a light explanation of the highlights. Now, here’s something to consider if it’s available. Some funeral homes here offer advance payment of services. What it is, is you plan your service and they figure it all up including the casket if you so choose that direction, and then they do a payment plan. The best part is, it is also like an insurance policy. Should you pass before the final payment, the balance is waved regardless of the cost. Kinda like paying for your funeral at todays prices. I know this works because Brenda’s Grandmother did this and she passed prior to being paid and they charged her no more. Also, she was no spring chicken and I thought, “gee whiz they gotta figure the chances of her passing before the thing being paid are pretty darn good considering she was already right at the average life span when they sold it to her. It does take a lot off the planning of others at that time too if all is planned and paid for. Then, any insurance policies you have are not affected by the costs, or rising costs of the funeral and less insurance is required.

UM, NO.

My G-ma did that, and because what she "prepaid" to "cover all costs" was NOT enough to cover the actual funeral costs some 10 years later when she passed, the estate OWED the funeral parlor The difference! SO, NO that "doesn't always "WORK". That pseky fine print says " the estate shall owe any difference between the prepaid amount and the final real costs"...and they NEVER point that out!

Well, I went to wally world and the grocery. Spent more'n'i like to at wally -it always seems that way!

Spent far less at the grocery.

Now there are 6 presents under the tree for MOH, one for both of us, 3 for my father, and one for me. I know of at least 2 more coming to me {I don't know what but I know of one ordered and delivered and at least one as MOH used the wally world card for something! I was told "not to ask"} Most are really really really practical gifts. MOH may shoot me as "practical gifts are NOT real presents"....go figure. I am a man what can I say? Of course MOH would like to see the Kitchen AId mixer under the tree, but I say "that would be practical, and practical gifts are NOT real presents"..so Pish posh b'gosh!

Got my father a MICROFLEECE shirt {{NOT sweatshirt "fleece"}}{THEY are VERY WARM-they radiate back your body heat and feel like a nice warm oven on your body, and hard to find..Wrangler makes em}, and a nice wool clan scarf, and a clan bookmark, and TA DA! Practical: Answering machine {he may not use but we are gonna try and talk him into at least trying it} and a key chain light.

Practical! My father wil llike it! If he will use the answering machine! He will love the shirt and the scarf.

well, I ve got some thigns to do!

Garry- I don’t like shopping. What I prefer is to figure what is wanted to buy, then go there and buy it. Not go somewhere then wander around looking for something to buy. Nothing here? Let’s go somewhere else. Hate it.
