Been pretty quiet in here I see. Our internet and phone service went down about four hours ago. Cable TV was fine but everything else other than electricity was out until about twenty minutes ago not counting a tiny four minute window that allowed me to get a post into the wind turbine warning thread. Other than that I copied some disks on the //e, backups mostly. I also got in a Starfleet1 mission.

Good afternoon. It's 32° and cloudy with 99% humidity. The high will be 38° and feel like 34°.

Got up this morning to fin that we were pretty much without communications out here. Cable TV worked OK but internet was out and land line phone service was spotty at best. Cell phone service was OK. Internet is back up and running but still having some problems. Land line phone now appears to be all right. No plans set in stone today. I may work on Oliver's adventure later. That depends on what else happens.

Mornin'......  Ahhhh,    Hmmmmm...  Ahem!  Afternoon folks!

Ah, Chloe, I'll have the rest of the Burro Raphiel From Last night...  Yep I brought home a doggie bag from the restaurant.  Doing that left room for dessert, it did!  More dark roast organioc coffee would be good with it too.  Thanks!

OK, lets play, my snow is colder than your snow... Smile, Wink & Grin  This selfie is from a few years ago.  Today the big yellow ball is peaking out from under the clouds and the thermo meter says 32°F.

Speaking of Duck Dynasty..... I think I look more like Brother Lion than Jeffrey though.....

I spent an hour down at my church at their SERRV Shop doing the Christmas shopping.  Still have to buy some things for the Granddaughters and my son, but have most everyone else taken care of.

Gotta get moving....  Will be going out to the party at the Museum tonight!

Later!

All right!

All you cold people stop trying to one-up yourselves!

SO it's a bit cold? Oh well.

WE will see single digits at least overnight this week too. The gas heat is set for a mere 63*F, as that is where we are are keeping the heat these days!

Not as cold as some of you frigid eskimos, but still on the chilly side. Time to get out the silk long johns. Time to washemup.

LION: I'd buy some wine but you said only for select customers! So sorry!

well, its been a slow day here. Only 11:47AM and seems like it should be 3pm!

There was a man with washing to do,

FOr him it was nothing new,

a new thing,though, to try,

He hanged out to dry,

All his silk  long johns, too!

He he.

Well, best get going the dryer squawks at me!

NAd the vacuum calls me!

Today is Christmas Open House at House of LION.

No tours of the train room, but LION must be in wine cellar to sell wine.

-24 'grees out here, I hope for a good turn out, but I would not want to go out doors if I do not have to.

Maybe people who live in little houses will be happy to get out, of if on a farm they live they might want to go to town anyway. LION will see what 'appens after the event.

You All come on out an buy some wine.

It's a balmy -21f. MINUS TWENTY ONE DEGREES. No wind so the windchill is the same as the temp. It will warm up to a sultry 4f by 4pm.

Ha and you think you have cold. It's currently -40 here with the wind chill at -48 oh and that -40 is in degrees F by the way. Going to warm all the way up to -25C this afternoon.

One of those "stay home days" except MOH just told me she needs me to do a Honey Do run to the grocery store. Super Angry

When I asked he yesterday if she needed anything from the store since I was out anyway I got the Oh nothing I can think of routine.....

Well, off to do some housework and then out into the frozen wasteland to the store.

Later all

Good wishes to all.  I'm officially done working for the year, having a bunch of accumulated vacation time I've got to use up, along with the end-of-year shutdown that give me that week, too.

First snow in this part of New England.  It was sleet last night as I drove SWMBO home from the airport, and there's a dusting on the lawn and places "where the sun don't shine," but the roads are dry.  Good thing, because I'm planning to head off to a train show as soon as I finish my coffee.

Jeff was a dapper young knave

A young girl said, "See

He's on Duck Dynasty!"

That day, he just needed a shave.

Good wishes to all!

Good Saturday morning, Diners!

It's a balmy -21f. MINUS TWENTY ONE DEGREES. No wind so the windchill is the same as the temp. It will warm up to a sultry 4f by 4pm. The sun's out tho, and it's kind of pretty with the FOOT OF SNOW we received. Sheesh.

Went to my MOH's Christmas party last night at the hoity-toity country club. Good food and fun people.

Thanks for the remark,Rob. That's the only clean area in the basement ,tho! LOL!!!

It's a good day to spend downstairs so I'll check back in later!

I think the thing I love about this hobby is that you can just get lost in your own little world and forget about any real problems. Trains and christmas for me go hand and hand as I got my first train set when I was a kid at christmas.

That's what this hobby is all about. I have long memories about trains, toy trains, and model trains. I can tune out the worldly problems with this hobby. Also, I can freelance enough so I make things how they should be. Of course, my era is before "Am-Trash" and Insterstate highways. USA had the best trains in the world in the 1950's. Because of the government, they were replaced with highways, airports, and Amtrak.

Ulrich.... Praying for your heart and things in general too.

Galaxy ...... You're a very thoughtful person. Glad you keep the canddles up. Good of you to mention Pearl Harbor Day.

Todd ..... Glad you took the time to make a brief appearance. Name dropping? That's OK. .... Oh I must hurry; one of our Senators is on the phone.Whistling

JohnBoy ... Hope you are doing OK following the difficult proceedures you had at the end of the week.

Here, the Lionel train is out of its box to perform annual Christmas tree duty.

Let's not forget Pearl Harbor Day. Glad Galaxy reminded us.

Good Morning!!! Just coffee please. Quick stop in to say hey and I haven't read what happened yesterday so I hope nothing I should make a comment too. I'll try to read it later today if not tomorrow. Gotta get to the community center for the pancake and sausage breakfast for the Foundation this mornin. Me and the mayor are cookin. (self serving name drop there). Then Santa comes to town at 10 and he'll be here til one. Well, actually he comes at 9 but he rides around town on the fire truck for an hour which, will be a bit cold for the jolly old elf. But anyway, after that I will be at Brenda's mercy until I w*rk this evening. Covering for the other guy. Ya'll have a great day!!!

Good Morning Folks!

I have been battling a minor heart issue these past days. I am OK now, but still don´t feel up to par.

December 7th - not only the day of infamy, but also my father´s birthday. He would have turned 87 today. I still miss him so much.

Let me just sit here at the RC and watch who´ll be coming by...

Make it a great day!

I'll just have a cup of Ethyl and set a spell.

G, You just reminded me that this is my step-dad's Birthday today, he passed in 05, if he would have lived, for today He would have been 105 years old, at 71 I don't know about how I would feel about that, if I were to go by how I feel now, naah! I won't think about it. Smile

Have a Great day All!

Cheers, Drinks

GOOD SATURDAY MORNING!!

Today is Saturday,

December 7th, 2013!!

A reminder for USA: Today is Pearl Harbor Day!

{it just happens to be, Honest!  I did not stick Hawaii in here on purpose! Cue Music"Aloha Hawai'i"- the Hawaiian state anthemMusic}

Today's limerick: {for RAY}:

There once was a boy from Quebec

Who bought a new stereo deck
He played it quite loud
In front of a crowd
And now his new deck is a wreck

Today's weird words:

nimiety: (ni-MY-i-tee): noun: Excess or redundancy

quaintrel- a woman who emphasizes a life of passion expressed through personal style, leisurely past times, charms and cultivation of life's pleasures

volitorial: able to fly

Used in a sentence:

With nimiety, the quaintrel thought she was volitorial!

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a refil for my decaf please...

Does anybody know why this thread startes with page -1 then goes to page 0???  Heckofan upgrade they did huh? Huh?

Spent most of the day at my sisters house in Canandaigua after dropping off some checks for the MLK Committee at the very big and ritzy local bank...  (I've hated the place since I was a kid!), then had the PiP get it's NYS Inspection (It passed with no problem...  Better have at one year old), then went over to sisters house and did a bit of electrical work for her to make plugging in her Holiday Lighting for outside a bit more convenient and safer.  She went grocery shiopping while I did that.  I figured she would be not terribly happy because it would be different than what she had been doing for the last 30 years...  She actually decided she liked what I did after I showed her how to use the little on/off switch on the three way extension cord.  Themn we went out to dinner at her favorite Mexican Restaurant (I don't care for Mexican food...).  She paid for dinner as a thank you for watching her cats while she was in the "very far".  Her outdoor kittie (ferral, half tame cat) has disappeared and she is beside herself wondering what has happened.  He was a sweet cat and quite friendly after he knows you, but went berserk the one time she took him inside!

Jeffrey, glad the eyes are doing well!  Duck Dynasty, huh?  Yeah I can imagine you fitting in well with those guys... That is one of my older son's favorite shows, BTW.

It is gently snowing outside at the moment.  Not supposed to amount to much here. Tomorrow night is our "Holiday" party out at the Museum...  Started the tradition last year and had a great time so we are doing it again.

Catch you all tomorrow!

My eyes are still smarting a bit from the exam this morning but at least there's no longer a halo around the on screen text. It's nice to know that my eyes are in good shape. There's very little damage from my diabetes. One amusing thing, a few minutes after my father dropped me off at the eye clinic a woman came in with her young daughter in tow. I found out a little later she was six. Anyway the kid looked around and her gaze locked on me, her face lit up and she pulled on her mothers arm and yelled 'Look mommy, it's one of the men from "Duck dynasty"!'. I didn't know if that was good or bad. My hair and beard are a bit longer and bushier than usual. Turns out they're both avid fans of the show.

I got those ten IBM diskettes reformatted for Applesoft DOS 3.3. I formatted both sides so that gives me the equivalent of twenty disks. The Lobo/Apple drive is working great! It's set up on slot 7 as drive #1 with the old Franklin drive as #2.

Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Evening guys,

Been doing some painting and running trains today. I think the thing I love about this hobby is that you can just get lost in your own little world and forget about any real problems. Trains and christmas for me go hand and hand as I got my first train set when I was a kid at christmas. My dad gave me his old American flyer set a couple weeks back plus a old Lionel trains steamer that was his grandftahers.

Tomorrow Im going to do the same, work on my trains and get lost again in the layout. After doing a few real chores first, lol.

Cant wait until I can get my nephews there own model trains, they love trains.

Hello?  Hello? Hello? Hello?

There is an echo in here.

I wonder how many are without power and not posting due to the storms ah-ragin' across the Mid states/ we are getting some frain {FR eezing r AIN} now. Snow is to follow later.

Meant to say , if I haven't already, that the tree {minus the under the tree layout this year}, the lights and the few Gift under it seem to have brightened up MOH, being the first Xmas without MIL, whom MOH was so fond of and loved so dearly. How do I know? MOH has investigated the gifts a bit, and although the tree lights are on a timer to come on at 3:30 Pm, MOH hit the bypass switch to light it earlier! Also MOH has a job-wise reason to do some "shopping". Better MOH than me..I will avoid any store BUT the grocery store until after Xmas! MOH has gotten weepy a bit, but has maintained some basic control, not that letting the water works flow is a bad thing.

PRAYERS To ALL who need them, that includes Johnboy-out, and anyone who needs them, but hasn't asked! The prayer candles will all be lit tomorrow again!

Havea  great night!

Good afternoon. It's 36° with 100% humidity. The high is supposed to be 42° but I don't think we're gonna make it. Low tonight will be 32°.

Had an eye exam to go to this morning and I'm just getting to where I can see the text good. Fifteen inch monitor ain't cutting it. Don't have that problem with the //e as it's hooked up to a flat screen TV and the characters are 5/8th's of an inch tall. Too bad it's not internet capable. I received two floppy disks today. Mystery House, a text/graphics game similar to the old MS-DOS game Sleuth. The other is an Apple IIe Diagnostics disk. My //e checks out with flying colors. First order of business was to make copies of them. That gave me the chance to see if the Lobo/Apple drive was up to the task. It performed brilliantly. Also received a box containing a 10-pack of double sided, double density floppy disks. They're formatted for 360k IBM but it's easy to reformat them to Applesoft DOS 3.3.

Nothing else going on today.

Well

I DID Include a prayer candle for Mr. Mandela, but, I had trouble getting it posted this Am so it somehow got dropped out?

I went to the CU and did the banking..now if the money in the ckg accnt coudl stay tere, i'd be happy. No actually I'd move it to savings.

MOH's monthly/quartely/wheneverwefeellikeit meeting revealed MOH will be getting a bonus for Xmas and a new E-pad..dunno the brand but will work in the field for them. SO that is good news!  A BONUS! Been so long since we had one of those, I'd be surprised if we know how to handle it! ANd it's NOT a  turkey!

CARS: NEVEr, I mean NEVER "be a lender or borrower be"..NEVER put it in more than one name, NEVER  let a driver who is NOT on your insurance never let them drive it, NEVER lend you car to someone, I mean NEVER. ASK me how I know! Did you know it can cost LESS to carry THE MAXIMUM insurance on your car, IF you have good driving records, and great credit and pay in advance than to have the minimum insurance MOST people buy? That's right. ANd NEVER borrow anyone's car that you are not insured on either!

WEll, MOH is home now, so later...

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have the #2 special, eggs over easy, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sour dough toast to go with my dark roast Seneca Lake Blend Organic coffee please....

RIP Nelson Mandela......  One of the greatest statesmen that has ever lived.  A life spent serving and helping the cause of freedom and equality for all people!  One of the things that impresses me about the man is that they say he never lost his sense of humor even during the truly low times of his imprisonment.  May his legacy continue to help those who still fight for human rights all over the world!

JohnBoy, my prayers still going out for you.  May everything go well for you in this time.

Thanks for the kind comments on the Blacksmith's shop!  As it is coming together (after almost two years since I first did some photos and measurments) I feel more like working on the project.  I have a bunch of odds and ends on order from Caboose Hobbies for it.  May arrive today as a matter of fact.

I will be heading out to Canandaigua early this afternoon...  Of course the weather may go downhill starting about then.  There is a winter weather advisory for several counties nearby.  They have my county listed. but I think most of the stuff should be South of where I am....  I hope!

Hope everyone stayds safe in the path of the storm!

Howdy, everybody. ... Coffee and a doughnut plese.

Yesterday we put up our Christmas tree. Not much model railroading to reprt.

Prayers continue for JohnBoy. He had some difficult medial appointments already, and has another one today.

Hello MoeLarryCurly .... Good day to stay inside and hope we don't lose power. .. We are recalling the Kentucky Ice Storm of 2009. We were stranded in our house by that storm. We went 9 days without power, land phone, cell phone, and county water. ...

Here's today's forecast:

Winter Storm continues today.

A strong winter storm will continue to bring a wintry mix of precipitation to the area today. Significant snow and ice accumulations will result.

PS >.. Barry .... If you are looking in. We miss your posts.
