  Morning All,

Currently it is 60 with an expected high of 88 under very smokey skies. Still not much headway on containing these fires.

Another w**k day for me. Tuesday is product knowledge meeting, and I have to give the meeting tonight, and just found out yesterday. So it may be a short one.

Eye is getting better every day. Still a little tearing and occasional blurring out of the left side, but bye and large, doing well. Probably still no model or layout w**k though, until after the right eye is done next week.

   Prayers to all in need.

Mr B- I wish you and your wife luck. I was lucky that my Mother wanted to go to a full care facility, but unfortunately didn't make it. My friend however, has a Mother who should be and really feels just to have someone stop in every once in a while to visit should be enough. They finally just got her into one very recently and she is not yet pleased about it. It took her house burning down, no fault of hers at all, and she is under the impression, or at least was, that it was temporary until the house gets rebuilt. Their hope is she wil change her mind and think it's ok.

I hope all works out well. It's tough to tell parents what needs to be said. After all, it's our parents.

Thoughts and prayers for all those dealing with parental issues.

Garry- She doesn't care for much Mexican food and besides, it wouldn't make a difference unless it was staffed by all malesWink. But, as I've said before, my "stories" are edited in such a way that it sounds worse than it really is. Honestly. I leave out all the normal, so to speak, conversations and comments much as the press does to slant the storyWhistling, and I don't recant all the times when nothing happened. Nor do I reiterate that they are really no different to me than say any other person who frequents the same restaurant or bar where the staff becomes familiar with you, and they treat other frequent customers the same. I feel I'm nothing extra special, just familiar. I tell them in a direction that is not intended to be misleading, they are truthful, but more in a humorous direction. This way of telling stories comes pretty easy to me and got me pretty good grads in Speech class back in high school and got me out of a lot of jams due to my lack of preparation for my presentations in class. My teacher could tell I was winging it so I lost a point or two but she still claimed she enjoyed them. To this day she says she misses me telling the stories of my "events". She still goes to our Church and has told Brenda on several occasions over the years that as wild as some sound, she has actually been present for a few of those events (small town you know. Never get away with anythingLaugh) and has said she truly believes my stories were true. Not one false word or statement. It's the way he tells them that gives you a completely different feel for the situation. She said I missed my calling. I love Brenda very much and though I do instigate some things by playing off her jealous streak, she is actually not as upset as it sounds. Not happy by any means, but not as upset. I don't se how someone with a pension for orneriness and someone so serious could find each other and be happy, but I guess opposites do attract.

Vincent :   HAPPY BIRTHDAY !

Todd: Hmmmmm .... Perhaps, there's a Mexican restaurant, and perhaps you and Brenda should switch from Chinese food to Mexican ......... Otherwise, how about Italian? ..... Or good old American food?

Also Todd thanks for commenting on my trip. My mother now is very happy with her place of living, and that is a blessing. It was very hard to move her there 2 1/2 years ago, but now she says she is the one who made the decision and she picked a good place. ..... I, too, have my share of "honey do's", but I do sometimes remind Shelley I need time to do my stuff, and am glad when she does her stuff.

Mr. B ... Your wife's parents may eventually need to be "nudged" to a senior home. Todd recalls my telling about that adventure with my mother. My sisters and I went through a tough time emotionally getting our mother to move. She's doing very well now however. Ulrich unfortunately, had very bad experiences moving his parents. His brother intentionally made the situation much worse.

I made some layout progress last night. I made a little more benchwork for my extension.

WARNING! The following is a recap of my visit to the grand opening of “my” Chinese buffets' new building. Some find my adventures amusing, others…, um…, don’t as much, I’m sure. If you are one who would prefer not, skip now. If you are bored with nothing else to do…read on.

New Chinese Buffet was real nice. Food was still good for buffet food as well. Problem arose as soon as we walked in the front door though. Lady Greeter Seater says “Heeeeeey! You made it!!” before we even got wthin 20 feet of her. Lady behind cash register waves smiles big say hi. No problem especially since they are older. How much? Who knows. They all look young until they hit like 50 or sixty then…flip a coin. The young girl who is also a Greeter Seater sometimes waitress who Brenda to this day contends called me baby, welcomed me with a big smile and a small wave like three times according to Brenda. I only saw once. Still really no problem except for the “ Hm, I guess she doesn’t call you baby anymore” crack as we were walked to our table. Problem started when as we got actually up to the podium thing, the first lady said, and I quote…., (ahem) “Oh! I see you bring a guest with you tonight! Welcome!”Indifferent…. Guest….guest!!!! Black Eye She could have used any term other than thatDead. Now for the first few minutes I’m explaining to her that I never felt there was a reason for me to walk in and announce randomly to these people that I’m married. Suki knew, you’re arch nemesis Nancy knew….I think… Pretty sure…..maybe.” (I admit I do things to instigate. ) I have a ring for all the world to see. That kinda got forgotten when she came back with crablegs and said “look, I got crab legs on my first trip…oh and their still hot!” Amazing how hot crablegs can sooth a womans spirit. Remember that guys. Hot crab legs with warm drawn butter.  Only two waitresses left, Jenny who is nice, but speaks very little and has no interest in even trying to hold a conversation beyond “what you want to drink?” (she never did remember what I drank until I said it), “you pay now?”, and of course her signature phrase... “thank you real much”. And Sandy who is very quiet and has a sultry voice when she speaks, but is hard to hear because she peaks so softly. Normally Brenda is fine with Sandy because she just pretty much does her job albeit very well, but she does nothing special for me as she sees it. That’s the key there. She also has made the comment that she wishes she was like that when she was that age. Sandy appears maybe to be oh, maybe upper thirties..maaaaybe 40 but, and not my words here, literally has the body of an 18 year old. We got a new girl with Sandy as her trainer. So…the new girl takes our drink order. She takes Brenda’s plate a bit later. She doesn’t put as much on as I do. Then comes the big one. Afetr a bit, Sandy comes over, takes my plate and asks if I want more Dr Pepper. Which they have now because they changed to Pepsi products and Mr Pibb is….well anyway, She scoots off and Brenda is sitting there looking at me with that look and she says…”what. Another “bustub girl?” (referring to Nancy) I said what? She said she’s not our waitress but she comes over to wait on you.” I said…”she’s working this section too. She’s training the new girl I bet.” Which was confirmed when Brenda tried to ask the other girl about a high pitched noise that was quiet yet ear-piercing at the same time. The waitress responded after a few seconds of quizzical smiling saying “I am very sorry. I new waitress and not yet speak much English. I am sorry.” That’s all it took. Brenda was happy and told her that it was ok.

On the way out, first lady says you should bring her more often. I explained during the week I schedule my trips to town around lunch  and come here. I don't live in Springfield. She asks where, I say Williamsville. She repeats. Brenda say north of Sherman, the lady says she knows. She lives in Sweetwater.Surprise I'm thinking Sweetwater! Shoot half the people in Sweetwater have never heard of Sweetwater. Says she has a farm there. Surprise The elevator Coop that Brenda works at has one in Sweetwater. She asks if they use that she says she doesn't know because her neighbor farms the ground for her. Brenda asks the name she tells him and, naturally she knows him, very nice guy and suddenly all is well with the world. Outside Brenda says she seems like a nice lady. I say to Brenda, "say, maybe you can ask this guy if all the waitresses live there at her farm. You can get the scoop on a lot of stuff." She says "oh he farms for a lot of people he may not know." I say Confused "you don't think referring to her as your Chinese lady neighbor will identify her enough?" She half chuckled and said "oh ya, I guess you're right." I don't hear that often so I'll repeat it...."....I guess you're right". Aaaaaaah. Feels good just knowing.

I married a whacko woman. I love her, but she can be whacko.

Morning guys

Managed to get today off on account of me turning 24. I still have some business to take care of...

I have to weather a couple of cars for a friend. I would have started earlier, but I didn't have time yesterday before the light was gone, and it rained all weekend. So I'm gonna spray them as soon as the sun hits the area where I paint and the sprinklers aren't running.

Then I'll wash and vacuum my car. Haven't done it in a while as I've either not had the time, it was raining, or none of my folks would move their cars. Then I have to go and get my liscense renewed, come back home and help my dad put the hood on my brother's Mustang (he took it off himself, IDK why he needs help to put it back on. I've changed mine myself), then go to the train club.

Normally my folks take me out to dinner on my birthday, but because the train club meets tonight, I asked to postpone it till tomorrow.

I'll be back later, my mom is leaving so I'll move my car under the car port to clean it.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and Egg Fu Young please. Thanks.

Sunny, with a high near 93.

Garry- Sounds good to play with trains first, what being the man of the house and all, but apparently you don’t have my wife wandering aroundLaugh. Oh and a belated Happy 94th to your Mom! Glad you had a pleasant and safe trip. I remember when your visits weren’t so pleasant. Glad they are once again.

Paul- I didn’t know that. About the family/employee owned part. Cool. Like I said, I have a narrow interest in those kind of stores so, my reviews may or may not be on target. However on a more…um…a wider view, I have heard nothing but grand reviews from people I know who do various types of sporting activities from hunting to golfing and they really like the place.Yes

Boy G, you’re rightTongue Tied. That poem made no sense to me and I didn’t see the pallanwutchacallit part either. Call meDunce

Welp, got done yesterday what I wanted/needed to get done. Didn’t pick the scrap up, but I’ll do that today. Maybe paint if time permits what with the grocery truck day and of course w**k tonight. End of month stuff at Church and that took awhile so by the time I was done with my “gotta do firsts’” it was about a little after 1. Then talk to Brenda as she was home for lunch cause…well if I don’t…Confusedlong story. Then I tinkered with a few things and about 3, I showered and pretty much watched Finding Bigfoot until she came home so we could go to supper. LAZY!Laugh

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good morning. It's 72° with 100% humidity. The high will be 92° and will feel like 103°.

Nothing much happening today except a trip to Oakdale to see about getting these stitches and staples removed. Other than that I have no other plans.

morning coffee in the diner...

GOOD TUESDAY MORNING!!!

Today is Tuesday, August 27th, 2013!!

The end is near, the end is near!

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!!!

Today's fun limerick:

A newspaper man named Fling

Could make "copy" from any old thing.

But the copy he wrote

Of a five dollar note

Was so good, he is now in Sing Sing!

A Palindromic poem {letter by letter palindromic- letters are same forwards and backwards!}:

Ida by the Window by Howard Bergerson:

Ma, I so resign.

It's all a poet air.

Ben is, I see, so Greek.

In sly dissent I wore no gay ruff.

O see by a brae his nag roll or yaw?

Awol laws (as are every god's) are a dire rod.

"Aye, fade with gin--O,

too wispily,

Sordid rosy lips I wooe.

(Tonight I wed a fey adorer, Ida.)

Eras do gyre--

veer as a swallow away.

Roll, organs I hear!

Bay, bees of fury ago!

Nero, witness idyls Nike ergo sees!

Is inebriate Opal lasting?

Is Eros?

I am!"

{never said a palindromic poem would make sense!?}

Did you all know that we, as a society, amongst our young people, are losing 'Chirography'? - The art of handwriting

When reading myh missives, how many of you claim 'Floccinaucinihilipilification'?? - To establish or state that something has no value

I know, some of you thing this is all 'Hogo' {stinky}

I personally NEVER Floccinaucinihilipilificate!!

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

Evenin' folks!

Janie just a cup of decaf please.

Didn't do a whole lot today...  Still in veg out mode I guess.  I did get a bunch of things put away and start to sort and clean out several piles of accumulated papers.  Just some odds and ends.  Brought in some produce from the garden and drove over to the stand right around the corner and got myself a couple ears of fresh picked genetically modified sweet corn for supper.  (I figure it is all genetically modified these days...  Probably what is making my blood sugar a bit high at the moment.)

Tomorrow I need to get some laundry done ans head out to Canandaigua for a Troop/Pack committee meeting.  They will meet at an ice cream place and have the meeting.  This is the handicapped unit(s) I work with.

See you all tomorrow!

Lehigh Valley 2089

This past Saturday, I was up at Johnson City at a antique store. It has a display of old Lionel items that are mainly from the postwar era, and picked up a 6465 tank car. Cleaned it up with some WD-40, and it started to look a lot better than it was when I got it.

WHAt antique store in Johnson City? America's Attic??? In quiring minds wnat to know...

Charlie Brown's. Think people here will like it since it not only has postwar items, but also several HO items and one or two N scale items. Big Smile

Been a typical day at college today. Not much to talk about. Been making appointments with instructors for later dates. Other than that, not much.

The Lehigh Valley Railroad, the Route of the Black Diamond Express, John Wilkes and Maple Leaf.

Nothing exciting to report tonight. Just another day. Tomorrow my father and I will be going to see my doc in Oakdale and hopefully I'll be getting these stitches and staples removed from what remains of the lower half of my right leg. That's all for tonight. See y'all tomorrow.

Wise choice! I used steel pulleys on my 94 Century. They outlasted the car. It was sixteen years old when I sold it for scrap. The pulleys had been on it for ten of those years.

I still have some of the stock steel pulleys on it, and got rid of all the plastic ones. Car is going on 20 years with over 234K miles (odometer was stuck at 212K when I bought it a few years ago); and it can still outrun newer cars...

But now I kinda feel like a dolt. I measured the underdrive water pump pulley I have, and the steel stock pulley from my brother's Cobra. Same size (like half a millimeter), and I had one of those. I looked through the garage for it, but it looks like I chucked it a while ago (at my dad's direction).... However I may give it a shot at getting my aluminum one welded, until either a water pump pulley from a 1994-1995 mustang Cobra shows up, or I can afford a new one.

Evening guys

Well I'm steamed right now. I get off work and head straight for the tax collector's office/mansion (is an office, but is furnished really fancy) to renew my registration and my driver's license. Turns out they only do licenses before 3:30pm. So I just went and decided to get my registration out of the way. Last year registration was $38. this year it's $58.... I asked how much the license renewal would be, and it's another $58 bucks. So there goes ALL the money from selling that GP7. And I still have yet to have time to get my new tires mounted, and my water pump pulley is now cracked... I'm going with a set of steel pulleys instead of the aluminum ones this time.

Good afternoon.

Karl .... Nice looking train.

Rob .... I like the critter loco.

Here's what I see in town. That's all the railfanning, I can do unless I drive 40 or more miles.

Of course, I can watch barge traffic from the house. These two barge tows are passing each other in opposite directions.

Galaxy and Ray .... Thanks for acknowledging my mother's b'day!

Happy Model Railroading.

Ray - Glad to see you up and about. Thought you might have plumb tuckered yourself out at the reunion. I don't have a doubt in te world that you had a really great time. I wonder if you noticed the same thing I did at my 50th reunion, and that is how some changed over the years so much that I didn't know them, but others, not much at all. In my case, the guys hadn't changed, but the girls, wow, what a difference. Hope you enjoy your 75th as much.

Went railfanning on Saturday again. I think we might be going on Saturdays from now on as it seems to be a little busier than the same time frame on Sundays. Nothing really special was seen, except for a string of all empty gondolas. It was just something I've never seen before.

Sunday we spent the afternoon and evening, including a delicious dinner, with my nephew and his family. It's always a good time with kids. It is disturbing at how fast they are growing up though. The other nephews oldest daughter became a teenager recently. Now how is that possible? It seems like we went down to North Carolina for the baby's Christening just a couple of years ago.

Today was grocery shopping and errands, so we just got home about 45 minutes ago. Got one load of wash started, then kind of ran out of steam, so not much more is planned for this afternoon. It's in the high 80's, so I'm not interested in any outdoor chores.

KBKCHOOCH - Really like the paint scheme on those Maryland Midland units.

Everybody have a good one...

Morning gang!

Had to take SWMBO to work this morning, then get home and wait for the insurance adjuster (sometime today) to look at the car. Did stop for a little railfanning though,

No, they are not my Midland Units! Thats the real thing!!Smile, Wink & Grin They had about 25 cement loads to take to the CSX interchange . Later they will bring a whole string of empties back.

Also stopped at the local privately owned garden center to get a "mole guillotine", both the "big box "places in town carry them (Lowes & HD) BUT they are order only. Shelves are full of have a heart traps. I really don't want to be the one that has to explain that moles live underground, and have a heart traps don't work when they are full of dirt!Wink So far, repellants and poison has not works, and my patience it at its end! I'm starting to feel like this guy!  Mwuhahahahahaa!Laugh

Catch y'all later!

Co. after this blows over. Super Angry 30 years in the car biz, NEVER had to wait this long. Zoe, I'll have a bowl of Organic Pumpkin Seed Flax Granola with fresh blueberries on top and a pot of Marrakesh Express Dark Roast coffee this morning...

I didn't even stir this morning until 9:45AM.  I'm supposed to give Blackie his medicine at 9:30, so I got right up and got his pill pockets ready.  Then i couldn't find the little bugger.  He was hiding under the bed to be safe from the Thunderboomers that had passed over (and woke me up) and wouldn't come put.  I finally got down on the floor and reached my hand with the pill pockets over to where he was.  After a bit of coaxing he did eat his "treats".

Cool and damp here in the Finger Lakes this morning.  Currently 70°F with a high this afternoon of 78° with liquid sunshine all around.  Inside it is cool but sticky with the humidity being high.

Happy birthday to Garry's Mom!

I will busy myself cleaning up and putting away stuff around here today.  I also will download all the photos from my cameras from the reunion activities.  May even do a bit of model w*rk as well.

Later!

Morning guys,

Was over at the train station this morning to see if any freight's might come through, got there and one came about 5 minutes later, stayed there for another half and hour to see if anything else might arrive but nothing. It's warm and muggy out today so have the A/C on.

Might work on the layout later this afternoon as there calling for some thunderstorms no warnings yet but that might change as the afternoon rolls on.

   Morning All,

Currently it is 59 with an expected high of 88 with still smokey skies. Nice breeze in the evening, but too smokey to open the windows, so I have to run the AC.

Left eye seems to be doing very well and I sure do notice an improvement.

Any w**k on models or the layout will have to wait until I get the right eye done and it heals, so I know what strength reading glasses I need.

Todd - Thanks for the run down on what you thought of Scheels. Scheels is a family and employee owned company, so as an owner I was curious.

Back to w**k today for me.

   Prayers to all in need.

Good morning!  We are stil having pleasant, fall-like weather here in New England.  It's a bit cloudy today, but it's Monday, so who cares.  The weekend was just perfect.

My wife is planning to come home in 3 weeks.  She hoped to have her parents settled in some sort of assisted-living facility, and she thought she had buy-in from her Dad at least, but that's all gone now.  They think they can get by with just having a part-time caregiver.  At this point, neither of them can get up and down the stairs, they are on the second floor and there's no elevator.  So, they're completely dependent.  I'm afraid they are not going to accept their situation until one of them takes another turn for the worse.

Howdy .....

Arrived home from Alabama last night. My Mom in Alabama is now officially 94 years old, and we had a good birthday celebration for here.

Looks like I missed a birthday here. Oz Jim, Late Happy Birthday!

Ulrich Glad you had time to stop in. I know the kind of politicians you are talking about. I'd like to speak my mind, but I'll just tell people to contact me if they are interested in my thoughts about those kinds of politicians.

Ken .... Glad you stopped in. Stop in for Diner coffee when you can.

Jim CG .... Glad you were here. You've been busy.

JohnBoy .... Thanks for commenting about my travels. It was a good trip.

Jeff .....  We'll always caring about you. Did you say an appointment was postponed?

Canadian Dennis .... I can understand why you like Canada. If you don't like your PM, we have a president we can trade you! If you turn me down, I'll make a similar offer to Ulrich.

Todd ..... Your priorities are backwards. First work on your layout. Then you can do home projects afterwards.

Saturday I visited a LHS south of Birmingham, AL. Remarkably, he had some Atlas track available. He said he stocked up as soon as he heard there could be a problem with availability. I bought some of the Atlas track I need for my layout expansion.

Happy Model Railroading!

I’d been movin slow all day, well, slower than normalWhistlingLaugh, Walk slow and drink plenty of water, so it took most the day to do and when she called for supper, I just stoppedDinner. Went back out after and picked up the tools. All that’s left is to pick up the scrap and of course the latch. I can do that today.Hmm ……Or in five yearsLaugh.
