Jeremy, my dad picked it up. the game looks pretty good, it seems they also fixed the franchise mode so you can play all 32 teams instead of just being stuck with one.

Thanks Gary,

I'm thinking about picking it up, I usually have it by now but am still on the fence. Each year I buy only a handful of games ( Madden,NHL,MLB the Show and F1 and the latest call of duty ) Last year I skipped madden so I might get it this year and skip NHL. Most of the games could basically be released every other year as games are usually just a roster update and maybe a "new" feature.

Not much going on here tonight, just checking out the weather to see If I can get a bike ride in tomorrow morning before the rain is supposed to show. After that I will clean my bike and the house and think about going to pick up Madden 25 before heading to my parents house for a BBQ. Will also take the football to toss around.

See you guys tomorrow.

yeah, dad usually buys the sports games NFL,NCAA, NHL. and My brother and I usually buy anything that catches our fancy so our game library is pretty diverse.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf for me tonight.

Kept a strict diet (like I'm supposed to anyway) and took my sugar reading an extra time today.  Right before supper it was 117 and 2 hours after I ate it was 130...   Much better!  Think I know what the problem was!  Not being good.  Too many good things to eat too much of I guess.  Will behave myself.

Got the lawn finished and did some serious weeding out in the garden.  Brought in another zucchini and some onions when I came back in the house.  Finished painting the little Packard truck for the scene I have been doing (SLOWly).  Just have to give it a coat of dullcoat and then a bit of weathering powders and put it in place.  Spent this evening looking at some of the photos from the reunion.  Next Friday the group of us putting the souvenir booklet will start making some decisions on what to use and exactly what we want to do with it.

Tomorrow I will w*rking out at the museum as a docent.

Prayers for all in need!

Hey there everyone!

RailFest 2013 took place today at Steamtown today, and although Steamtown had no operating steam engines of it's own this year, they did bring in #425, so everyone was still happy. #26 is coming very close to entering service there, and #3713 has come a long way.

Stopped at a Italian Food Festival (could never get the name right, so I won't try   :P), and filled up on some really good food!

There was also an O gauge layout there. When I get the chance and figure out how to transfer photos from my phone to my desktop, I will post them.

Played Doom3 for the first time today. Did fair for a beginner. I actually found the missing scientist and was about to take him back to headquarters. I made the mistake of turning my back on him. When I looked back at him he had turned into a demon and the stinky stuff hit the fan! I gave a good accounting of myself but he mopped the floor with me then punched my ticket. Next time I'm going in prepared and fully loaded. God, Give all and Give keys. Ain't cheat codes great?

I looked at the old O.K. Streamline passenger cars and decided I'll have to look at them some more after I've gone through the parts that came with them. I estimate they're at least forty years old, maybe as old as sixty years and are going to need some TLC to get them into shape.

There should be two Athearn chassis coming in Tuesday. Then I'll be able to get to work on the metal Varney F3A dummy and turn it into a power unit.

That's all for today. See y'all tomorrow.

Evening guys

Another busy day.

Went to the MR club this morning and changed the long-shank couplers on the 2 Rapidos that had them. They work, but the lounge wants to stringline. Turns out this car is really light (read: guy who was going to add weight, never did....) and one diaphragm was stiff. I tried to remove it but it broke. Well the coach that the dog chewed would have a replacement. For now the sleepers are at the head end, and the coach and lounge are towards the rear.

I got home and pulled my car in the garage. I took the old shorty headers off and got the drivers' side new-to-me long tube on. The drivers side is a PITA because the AC line and steering shaft is in the way. The passenger's side will come tomorrow. That's the easy side, only issue is an A/C line (yeah, the AC lines go around the engine bay...) and fuel lines. I'll be taking my mom's car to work in the morning.

Unfortunately that's all for me. I'm bushed.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Jeff ... Your post suggests your mail carrier had a big load.

Yep. One big box, two medium boxes and one small box. Looks like the next delivery will be on Tuesday. That'll be the two Athearn chassis.

I wasn't expecting this. Complete surprise to me. Sender unknown:

Afternoon guys,

Another hot and sticky one here again today, got some rain and small storm last night. Its the wife's birthday today and are having pizza for lunch. Went to the store earlier to get some stuff we needed and picked up a football magazine to look over, cant believe football season has started. Might watch some college football later today.

For the guys that play video games here, has anybody picked up madden 25?

Morning All,

Currently it is 68 with an expected high of 92. Still smokey out there but they say fire is 35% contained.

Foot hurt so bad yesterday I did not go into w**k at all, and I am staying home today also. Taking anti inflameatory drugs and it seems to help. So does elevating it and icing it.

   Prayers to all in need.

Mornin'...

Zoe, just a cup of dark roast coffee for me...

I think it was the crap I ate yesterday, but when I took my blood sugar last night before bed it was 190!!!  Never have had a reading that high before.  I have also been having reading quite often that while still in the acceptable range were almost 30 points higher than was getting...  May be all the sweet corn i have been consuming, I don't know.  This morning it was 129.  Certainly better, but I was getting readings around 95 a couple months ago.  Hope the meds haven't stopped working!  I will be keeping a close track of what is going on.

Todd, life is certainly fun at your house.

Karl, was the not so nice comment here in the Kalmbach Forums or over across the street at the dump over there?  Guess I'll have to read some of the posts out in the rest of the forum.  I've gotten so I only check out a few threads here at the Kalmbach site, and only do the weekly Photo one over across the street.

I think I shall go mow some more lawn before the liquid sunshine begins...

Later!

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and French Toast with a side of bacon please. Oh and maple syrup. Thanks.

A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 93. Heat index values as high as 100.

Garry- Chris always talks about foobies. I think he even dreams about foobies. He probably wants to retire and be surrounded by foobies. Hey, it’ll be like a dream come true for him. Working on them all to make them right.

Chris…., the “Foobie Doctor”.Cool

Welp,Sigh Brenda informed me yesterday, that we need to go....nay, are going to Sam’s for Fall Festival stuff (“ I’ve just got to get that stuff before I run out of time.”), Kohl’s for a bridal shower she’s going to tomorrow ( “I’ve just got to get her a gift tomorrow because the shower is Sunday”Confused),and ummm a couple more things she threw in there, but I admit I quit listening because I was thinking to myself….then Hmm where have you been every night this week? You have left and gone into town every night saying just that…you’re going to Sam’s, or Walmart for the Festival, or for the Dance. And, I’ve got to go to Kohl’s to get the shower gift…then, I am told I will accompany you this day to do what you’ve been supposedly doing all week only to find you have not done anything. Wonder where she went last night? Oh I know…Hmm, no I don’t. I wasn’t listening. Far as I know she left the house, drove to Casey’s and waited then came back and is waiting for me to be able to go with her to either A), take my truck so we use my gas or B), take her car so when we get in it, it has 1/64th of a tank of gas and we coast into Casey’s on literally fumes so I can fill up her car that has been sitting with less than a ¼ since the last time about 2 weeks ago but she drove it last night…Confused..somewhere so….probably have to push it to the pump. This is an ongoing issue that does irritate me. It really does and has, and always will. I always say….you use no more gas, you spend no more money and it’s better on the pump to run your car on the TOP half of the tank than the bottom. She contends it makes no difference because you are still putting gas in so she can just wait until it needs it. I do not like having to put gas in a vehicle before I can go somewhere. What if there’s an emergency? “Sorry I was too late I had no gas to make the 5 mile trip in time.”  Especially since she waits til the very last second before we have to leave to get somewhere on time. Like if she figures it takes 20 minutes to get somewhere, she won’t be ready to leave until like 22 minutes until we have to be there. We get in the car and THEN it’s “we have to stop and get gas first”…Super Angry…Then she wants me to drive like 80 to get there (at a hundred and twenty dollars for a ticket. But hey, she’s not paying) and when we’re late…it’s my fault because I drive like a “pokey Joe”.

She has actually stopped off at Casey's on her way home to get a pack of cigarettes and a bottle of her sweet tea, came home knowing we are going in to town, changed her clothes, we get in the car and I see it's on fumes. I say you just came from Casey's!?!?!?! She claims she didn't have time. She just needed the cigarettes and wanted to get home quick so she could change.

Oops sorry Rant over.

We’ll see how today works out.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good morning. It's 75° with 91% humidity. The high will be 98° but will feel like 107°.

Not much going on today and I have no plans set. According to USPS tracking the Varney metal F3A went through Shreveport last night, so I should be getting it today.

Morning gang.

Flo, just coffee this morning, thanks.

Looks like another warm, humid day. Gonna spend it with the future DIL's family down on the water, try to unwind a bit.  Yesterdays teaching session turned into a "this is too complicated, can I pay you to do it?" session. So now there are 3 P2K Geep 9's on my "to do" table to get DCC & Sound & renumbering. Big Smile  He's got about a dozen more he wants done also. Cool   I spent the rest of yesterday striping another customer's units, only to have some of the paint "craze" when I put a sealer coat on it. So now I have half of a long hood to fix.Grumpy  But that's not really a big deal, just a little disheartening. Models can be fixed.

What really has me PO'ed is another forum members reaction to a post of mine from yesterday.Bang Head Without going into great detail, his response seemed to question my brain cell count, as well of my lack of psychic ability to relate what was going on in another thread at the same time. Grumpy  Meanwhile I've been brewing over a possible response to him, while not referring to him as a small male genitailia.Mischief  I know Vinnie, don't get up, I'll shut up now, I just had to vent a bit .Bang Head

Flo dear, can I get a coffee for the road? Gotta roll out soon!

Karl

Good mornink,

Dunk my mate to the shops today. ( a big Irish nut, on the handle bars of a small bicycle )

when we got to the supermarket, the very nice Asian lady had to get a translator to know what I was wanting to buy. First time I suspected I had a thick, Australian accent was when a Canadian backpacker said he had not understood a word me & another mate had said to him on the Train to the big Smoke.

if this bills on me a glass of water can be very refreshing .

heck. I'll have whatever's going.

morning coffee in the diner...

GOOD SATURDAY MORNING!!

Today is Saturday, August 31st, 2013!!!

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!!

Today's fun limerick:

There was a young lady named Hannah,

Who slipped on a peel of banana.

As she lay on her side,

More stars she espied

Than there are in the Star-Spangled Banner.

Olde tyme words:

'Gongoozler' {SLANG, 1904}- A person who sits and stares at activity on a canal. This has been now updated  to mean any kind of idle person or rubbernecker

The 'Broadway Lion' here is a 'Illeist' {From Latin ille (that) + -ism} - A person who refers to himself in the third person

'Nudiustertian' { noo-dee-uhs-TUR-shuhn, From Latin nudius tertius, literally, 'today is the third day'. Earliest documented use: 1647}- Incredible word! It means the day before yesterday. We should start to use this more again, if one can pronounce it.

“Burn the candle at both ends”, SO:

Meaning: To live at a frenetic or dangerous pace, with adverse effects on  one’s health Origin: In 18th-century England, the phrase was used literally:  You’d be wasting a valuable candle if you attempted to burn it at both ends. At  the same time, you’d likely end up with a nasty wax burn on your hands in the  process. The metaphorical use combined the fire-on-both-sides aspect of the  former and the danger-to-oneself aspect of the latter. Photo:  iStockPhotos

***YAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWN**

Good Morning, an IV of RBF please, and thank-you.

The game (last night, now) was hot...hot, hot, hot. Probably the hottest football Friday night in either of my newspaper careers. My team won, 67-28. No misting fans on the sidelines, a handful of crampy players, 500+ pics to sort through (later this morning).

GARRY: I saw THAT "Hawkeye Express" sitting in its usual siding along Hwy. 6 this evening, waiting for the multitude of Hawk fans later today for the season opener. Sabin (head of IANR) had a new RI herald, shield, logo, whatever made, as one was seen on the nose of the locomotive. I was unable to stop and get a shot, I suspect the RR's website may have a pic of it for anybody curious. THAT's the Iowa Northern Railway.

Time to go and take my throbbing skull to the land of nod...

Whistling

Well, seeing that no one has been in the Diner since Garry left at 6:15, I thought I would stop by to see if there were any stragglers maybe sleeping in a back booth. But no I see everyone has gone.  But girls you have really used this time to put a sparkle on everything in here.  Wow does it ever look terrific.

Zoe, I'll have a couple of Oreo cookies and a lemonade.  NO not that kind that Jeff orders, just a nice cool sweet lemonade will do fine.  Thanks.

I did finally get down into the bowels of this house where the LM&E resides this evening and did get the Gypsolite onto the hill that has the cut through it and a two foot tunnel as well.  This is before you get to town access and the water fall into the Feather River and west of the Large Mountain, that I believe I will call Last Mountain  (wonder why ?)  So will see how good that looks when it dries. probably take more than a couple of days in this humidity.

Not much else to report on at present.  Finally got feeling a little better than I have for awhile.  While I'm waiting for a Surgeon the Sawbones gave me another round of anti-biotics and they finally cut in. The lumps are still there in my neck, but now my throat and ear aren't bothering me like they were. Would like to get this over quickly.

Paul,  I'm glad you have had good luck with the eye and hope the other goes as well for you.

Thanks again for all the kind wishes to you all. I appreciate them.

Well, it is off to bed now as I work in the morning. shitty schedule this new month. I work three of the four week-ends.   Oh well, I can see the end of work coming, now that it is less than a year. Seven months to be exact.  That means that I have worked for the last 53 years straight and then 2 years before college.  In all that time I have only collected one week of Employment Insurance.  Try that Youngsters.........

Night All.    Sweet train dreams to Ya.

Johnboy out.........................to ZZZzzzland      Sleep  Zzz

Good evening ...... I'll have a jumbo Northern Pacific baked potato please. .... Loaded!

Jeff ............... Dr. Who! .... That's funny! LaughSmile, Wink & Grin ..... You're going to be busy with projects from what I can tell. The F units will be fun.

Chris ... Actually I did see a R I shield at train show several years ago. It was definitely not for an F40. It was curved, and it was for an E6. It would have been a nice decoration for the train room.

Cheers, everybody!

. Musical doctors anyone?. This keeps up I'll have to list it on the calendar as a visit to Dr Who.

Just like me, only I am not liking the tune they have me dancing to lately.

Went to the dentist, go tmy new bottom partial..seemed fine in the Drs office, but the left side is loose upon chewing! so It will have to go back to be remade. Also is all plastic, things like that break on me just like my real teeth do.

Did the CU as MOnday will all be closed. GOod thing we have nothing to do on the weekend, as wil rain here all weekend...

Dinner will be pasketti.

Geeked

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

Goooooooooood afternoon, another bucket of RBF please, and thank-you.

GARRY: Thanks for the kind words! It was a few years ago THAT somebody removed THAT RI herald/shield/logo/thing off the F-40. Sliced Bread was offered a gig for this evening, but alas, the boy already had plans. It's pretty easy to see we're just a way to pick up a little money and build up some "clips" to show a future employer. I really don't expect him to be around very long. Seems like a nice guy, just not as handy to have around as originally advertised.

CDN DENNIS: I'm using a D7000 with a Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200 F2.8 G2 ED lens. I've also got a D90, it's sitting on the shelf awaiting a trip to the camera hospital for a new shutter release. I also use a AF-S Nikkor 18-200 F3.5-5.6 G ED (got it with the 90).

Am waiting for coaches to remember to get around to thinking about remembering to consider thinking about sending me results from a swim meet and a volleyball match. Also waiting on a call from a very nice lady who is five kinds of crazy about loaning her some of my firefighting stuff (old nozzles, gear, books, etc.). She does a big display window at the Solon (Iowa) public library, and her next one is dedicated to firefighters. She did one a couple years ago dedicated to veterans, it was stunning. She's thinking this one may top it. I'll either take the stuff to her this afternoon on my way to high school football, or in the coming weeks.

Have a good day people!

Chris (in hot, hot, hot, hot Iowa)

Got the doc appointment taken care of. Standard checkup. Also had him look in my ears as I've been hearing the constant sound of blood pulsing in my ears 24/7 since the surgery. The doc thinks it's something to do with the anesthesia that was used. A fairly common thing he says. Nonetheless he set up an appointment for me to see a specialist at the Leesville Diagnostic center on Sept 12th. Then I go back to see my doc again on the 27th the see the doc in Oakdale on the 30th. Musical doctors anyone?. This keeps up I'll have to list it on the calendar as a visit to Dr Who.

Found a couple of fairly complete Athearn F7 chassis and have them on the way. They're not much good as runners but they'll be great as parts sources.
