 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Pleases.

Vince's said "It felt like I just lost all my energy all of a sudden, by body went numb, and my brain went on the fritz. I couldn't focus on what I was doing, I had difficulty thinking, everything I grabbed felt like it wasn't really there."

Sounds like how I feel all the time, welcome to Old Age! Laugh Oh, wait you are going to be 24 this month.

Vince's said "my breakfast consisted of a small bowl of cinnamon toast crunch and a bottle of water."

While I am not going to swear by this, I have been told Cinnamon will lower your blood sugar. I have been meaning to do a goggle search.

 I am beat, late night.

 See you all Tuesday.

Evening, Chloe, just a very brief stop (or I hope the bunch hasn't been exceptionally wordy today; I need to get to bed soon). Just a hot chocolate in a go cup, please. Thanks!

Jeff, that hognosed snake does remind me of photos of diamondbacks or other rattlers that I've seen (Wouldn't want to see them that close-up, though!). Surprise I wonder if the elves put that decoder in for you? Wink

Vincent, better your brother than you, who got to play weird games and dance with that snake... Whistling Hope you finally got some sleep last night. Did you go to your job on mostly NO Zzz's? If you were really short on sleep and took the Benadryl on an empty stomach, maybe your body didn't take to it as well as you might've otherwise. As a few Diners already said, you might want to get that checked out (just in case...).

Thanks for the comments on the shed & fence, Gary! I was looking at my other (bigger) junkyard tonight after w**k, and was noticing tiny holes, which seemed to be in the edges or walls of the shed  (a separate casting from the base on this particular one - which I have yet to start washes and painting). Then I realized, what it was, was I had applied a bit too heavy of a coat with the spray can, and those holes were from air bubbles that popped. Oops So I may need to get out the Squadron putty before I start on painting that one... Sigh

Todd, you can tell when Jeff's feeling better - he gets a wee bit more... mischievous, yep, that's the word. Like that rubber snake you're sitting down on now...Smile, Wink & Grin

Barry - you mean you have a lot of stuff to do in your day, too? Thought I was the only one who got sidetracked by... stuff! Whistling

Mr.Beasley, I loved your photo, and love that name - Mooseport. Sounds, just right!

Ray, at the rate your solar panels are going, in a few months, ConEd will want you on their board! Smile, Wink & Grin I am soooo jealous of those who have solar power (I know one guy locally here who not long ago got it installed on his home). It would be very nice to have in my apartment building, as the heat and power are all electric.

CDN Dennis, nice haul - and as you said, the price was definitely right! Big Smile

PA Tom, watch yourself out there railfanning. Flat railfans are NO fun...

Chris - like that phrase "lovely winter we've been having this spring..."Laugh And can we blame the government for the parts shortage (along with everything else we're short on...)? Smile, Wink & Grin And how has Rerun been enjoying this "spring"? I know some dogs don't like the white stuff on the ground, when it's high enough to tickle their tummy. Wink

Karl, glad the job is fitting well on you so far. Thumbs Up And hopefully, that decoder got fixed ("No, Rerun, we're not talking about a trip to your vet, really. Quit whimpering...)

Broadway - never knew you were an RN, in addition to all your other skills! Multi-talented cat, you are...Thumbs Up Say, how are the ice mountains in your parking lot? Have they started heading downstream yet?

Hey, Mike (mbinsewi) - I talked to our resident Cardinals fanatic at w**k today, and she said they won all four in the series with the Brewers! (Oh, you already knew that? Embarrassed Oops Whistling - But some of us like the Cardinals...) On passing up opening day for fishing with those delightful conditions, I can understand that..Yep.

Galaxy, got your PM, but will have to reply tomorrow. Time got away from me tonight. Thank you, though!

Today over lunch, I went by the post office and got one of my 'Bay winnings (Proto RDC-2 in B&M markings, which will be painted over for CAW colors - mostly "Platinum Mist"). Also successfully bid on another RDC-2 (this one in NP markings, also will be repainted and lettered for the CAW). I need one more RDC-1 and then I will have my 'fleet' for passenger traffic on the CAW.

Over my limit on staying up for the evening, so I'll be heading out now. Prayers for all those in need of comfort, good night's rest (until you get to the Dr. - and you know who you are....Wink), and healing.

Blessings,

Jim in Cape G.

Evenin' everyone!

Janie, just a cup of decaf for me, please...  Oh, and an Advil too please...

Vincent, scary stuff there!  If you start having another episode get yourself help ASAP!  Nothing to fool around with.  And do get to the doctor to get checked on either way.

I got most everything I had on the list for the day done today.  I am about half way through building the first of 3 raised beds for gardening.  Really not terribly hard.  Had to cut one 2 x 6 x 8 in half so the beds will be 4' wide, fasten the ends together, then staple Hardware cloth on what will be the bottom of the bed.  I managed to drag the part done over to the garden, after I rototilled up the old garden space, and got it set where I want it and leveled in place.  Tomorrow I will put together the second level for it and get the side braces screwed in place.  I will also get some 2 x 4s to make a ledge around the top.  Hmmm, I can get 2 x 4 x 8' in the PiP, but I will need to use 2 x 4 x 10s to do this I think.  Gonna have to think this out overnight.

Also spent some time doing research for a project at church.  I have to present some "solutions" to the poor sound issues the Sanctuary has and has had for ever basically.  Very hard to hear clearly in the space as all the surfaces are flat and reflective.  The Interim Pastor has a good idea on putting sound proofing on the back wall which I think is a great idea, but will be a hard sell to the property committee and financing....

I think it is time to head out to bed for the night and get some Zzz

Prayers for all in need!

Evening everyone,  just time enough for a quick one  Beer in a frosted mug please.

Not much going on.  Finished up a side job, doing some stone work.  One thing I can chime in on, Vincent, I have had the same thing on occasion.  Especially when I was still working full time.  I called it what Jeff referred to it as a "sugar crash".  I'd make it to my lunch box, and find an orange or a granola bar, or whatever I could find.  I don't seem to get them lately, since I've retired.  Maybe because I'm around food more ! Laugh  Plus, it seems the older I get the longer my list of daily "maintenance drugs" gets.  Maybe one of them has put a stop to it.

Nice weather anyway.  I decided not to go to our place up north for opening day of fishing in WI.  Neighbor up there said there was about 16" of slush on top of about 12" of hard ice on the chain of lakes I'm on,  so I took a pass, stayed home, did some chores, and listen to the  BREWERS get swept out of their own park by those pesky CARDINALS !  First time that's ever happened!  Hope it's the last!

Well, I guess I'm outa here!  Have a good night people!

Mike.

Been a busy day for me today and now I'm relieved it's time to sign off. I guess we found out last night that I truly can install a DCC decoder in my sleep! I hope nothing happens tonight.

See y'all tomorrow.

MisterBeasley
Benedryl is not meant to be taken in the daytime.

Benedryl has two labels one is an anti-histamine (which may cause drowsiness, the other use is as a sleep aide. It can be used in the day time, but will of course cause drowsiness, It is specific for an allergic reaction at any time.

Vincent, something is out of balance, and if you aren't back to normal pretty quickly you should have it checked out.  Benedryl is not meant to be taken in the daytime.  They have a "daytime" version, but I'm guessing you got the nighttime stuff.  It is supposed to dry you up and put you to sleep, so never take it unless you have at least 8 hour to sleep, and preferably more like 10 or 12.

I had one of those itchy-and-woozy things once, too.  I'm pretty sure it was a food allergy.  I suspect, but could never prove, that it was a piece of spiced chicken from the local "healthy" grocery store.  It showed up again, mildly, the next time I had poultry, but it's never been back.  I spent most of the day doing the "Occupy" thing in one of the stalls in the men's room, then went home and slept.

But, if you even suspect you may be diabetic, that's a good enough reason for a visit to the doctor.  Don't take chances.

Evening All,

Have been finalizing part of our vacation plans. Since our stop in Charleston fell through we are making our first stop at the Blue Ridge Scenic RR in north GA. We will spend 2 nights there, then we added a extra day in Strasburg (arrive late 14th and depart the day of the 17th) before moving on to Steam town and Altoona.Big Smile After that the rest of  the trip is visiting with family.

CDN Dennis- Congrats on the windfall. Hope you find some good things.

Gary- I continue to think of your Grandmother.

Vincent- I will echo everyone else. If you were my patient I would be trying to convince you to go to the ER. I am one of those persons that can't take Benadryl because of what it does to me.

Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

Evening guys

Feeling much better, except for one thing. The itching is back....

Called my doctor before I ate dinner, but she was busy. Tried again after I ate and she was gone. I have an appointment in a few days anyways. It wouldn't hurt to wait, would it? I'll call again tomorrow.

Chris, just one. A half red / half white pill. The ones I have are the pink ones.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Galaxy, my breakfast consisted of a small bowl of cinnamon toast crunch and a bottle of water. I've had this for breakfast several times in the past couple of weeks with no problem (Although I normally eat more, I'm trying to cut back. At work I drink lemonade (water is connected to the powerade; I'm allergic to something in powerade), with the occasional soda. Nothing changed in the past few weeks. My father tells me a lot I need to cut back on sugar and the weirdness only happened after the benedryl.

Just because you have had somehting before or "forever" DOES NOT mean you can't develope an allergy to it OR develop a sugar problem. SOme are born with diabetes, but most develop it later on either in childhood, early or late adulthood.

I myself am HYPOglycemic and that came after I had a surgery to remove my gallbladder. My sugar drops to dangerously low levels causing blackouts for me too. WHen I NEED to eat something I NEED To eat. No delays. I used to carry a meter and test often until I got the hang of how I was feeling versus what my sugar reading {or lack thereof} was.

I take several medications and after some time I have developed serious anaphalatic shock to some of them. Anaphalaxis is no fun..break out, itch, throat swells up, get a "disgusting disconnected anxious feeling", CAN RESULT IN DEATH.

So DON'T MESS AROUND....as we all have said get the to a Doctor and let HIM figure it out. He has tests that will show exactly what is going on with you. You might find out what is worng and how to manage it.

Well some stuff I ordered online got here in a hurry from last thursday!!! SOme Hawaiian stuff from ABC stores In Waikiki and some Hawaiian shirts I ordered {naturally}. In the laundry. One Pr of pants is backordered....hmm....should ship the 14th they say.

SO I am a happy camper.

Steak again for dinner tomorrow I go shopping to puick up more at a discount {deep one} keeps MOH satisfied as Steak is MOH's fav.

Jeffrey..

SEE...you have been doing it so long you CAN do it in your sleep!!!

Looks like I've proven that conclusively!

*

Been with my father most of the day. Breakfast at his place then out to the VA center at Fort Polk so I could file for an appointment there. Hopefully I'll be able to enroll there and maybe get something done about this foot of mine. All Medicaid seems to cover is the docs time to scratch his head. No new appointments until sometime in June. Well, it's a start. Then to Wal-Mart to pick up some items. I got two boxes of gauze pad, a couple rolls of tape and a bottle of 91% alcohol for the aforementioned foot. I also got a jar of Black Bean and White Corn salsa to go with a bag of tortilla chips I have. I also made up sixty invitations for a certain persons upcoming wedding. Not mine so don't even start celebrating.

Hey everybody!Cowboy

Vincent,,,,get to a Doctor, they get paid to figure this stuff out, and usually, they know more than the patients. I had 2 episodes almost 2 years ago, turned out 1 was a T.I.A., the other was a full on stroke.  Yeah, I thought it was low blood sugar, see how much I knew??

In the mail today, 1 freshly repaired Soundtraxx Tsunami. Sent it off 2 weeks ago when the magic smoke escaped, looks like the same decoder (Glue on the capacitor), I guess they refilled the smoke!!

Week 2, day 1 of new j.o.b. LOVE IT!! Big Smile

Be back later,,, SWMBO is due home soon!

Ok, seriously there may be something really wrong with me. Even though I didn't sleep last night, I felt fine and full of pep (which is unusual for me) this morning. When I got to work, my arms started itching really bad and I got some rashes. One of my co-workers offered me a Benedryl, so I took it. It got rid of the itching, but it may have caused something I didn't intend. About 2 hours after taking the benedryl I started feeling really wierd. It felt like I just lost all my energy all of a sudden, by body went numb, and my brain went on the fritz. I couldn't focus on what I was doing, I had difficulty thinking, everything I grabbed felt like it wasn't really there. After a few minutes it got even worse. I started stumbling, zoning out, blacking out (it seemed like that, it's like every now and then it seemed like time skipped a few seconds for me, those "lost seconds" just draw a black for me if you get what I'm saying), and I felt like I was in a trance. Sometimes it felt like I was doing nothing or not moving, but it seemed like most of me was trembling. I told my helper something was really wrong, and the manager let me off and moved people around to cover my abscense.

I sat in the lobby for a bit. I wanted to go home, but knew that because I was trembling so bad and couldn't stay focused for more than a few seconds, I was in no condition to drive. I tried to call my brother on his phone but my hands kept fumbling the phone. My boss offered me some OJ and toast and is seemed to help just enough that I could get a hold of my brother to take me home. When I got home I ate some cereal bars and drank more OJ.

That sounds just like me when I'm having a sugar crash. Get it checked out. Don't wait. GO NOW! Next time you could be in a coma. Been there, done that and I don't want a repeat.

PACKER (Vincent): How much Benadryl did you take? THAT stuff can knock a person on their butt (sedative properties). It sure could be reacting with any other meds you're on. Give your Doc a call.

Good afternoon,

Gotta go to w*** in a bit, there's a high school track meet today and the weather is actually decent for once! There's a big blazing thing in the mostly blue sky, the air temperatures are in the low 70s and nothing is falling out of the sky, neither rain nor s***. Amazing. It's been a lovely winter we've had this spring.

General question for whomever wishes to ignore it or answer it: Anybody else having trouble finding/purchasing detail parts and formerly common supplies? It seems like Details West isn't making anything, Walthers has "unknown" for many parts I "need." I've taken to scouring the internet and grabbing what I can find when I can find it. It's almost as crazy as the ammunition shortage! SoapBox

Have a good rest of the day everybody,

I took a little nap, and I'm feeling a bit better now. Still a bit of a tinglely sensation in certain areas. I wonder if the lack of sleep last night and the possible interference with my meds and the benedryl combined into this?

Galaxy, my breakfast consisted of a small bowl of cinnamon toast crunch and a bottle of water. I've had this for breakfast several times in the past couple of weeks with no problem (Although I normally eat more, I'm trying to cut back. My father tells me a lot I need to cut back on sugar and the weirdness only happened after the benedryl.

The only thing that comes to mind that I've came into contact with that I normally don't come in contact with is the sound-deading material that I've been helping my father remove from his car. Maybe I got the hives and rashes from some of it?

Jake, my Mother's dad died of Diabetes too. So it's possible it might be heriditary. I know I got my HBP from my mom.

Yeah Vincent. Get theeself to a Doctor.

Speaking of diabetes, lost an Uncle to it, though he also had leukemia, so it was probably the double whammy that killed him, making his heart weak (this was back in '98 or '99, was only about 3 or 4 at the time).

Anyway, good afternoon.

Headache and sore leg right now. Just wishing that I could go right home, though I know that's not possible...

I'm feeling a bit better now, but that incident scared the crap out of me. My dad said it may have been low blood sugar and the onset of diabetes, but I doubt it. I had been drinking lemonade and some soda most of the day. So co-workers, my boss and I think it was the benedryl.

I'm gonna go lay down for a bit.

Vincent,

GET THEE TO A DR.

What did you eat or drink that morning? The itchy and breakouts sounds like an allergic reaction to something for which the benedryl should have {and sounds like it did} help.

As far as low blood sugar, YES you probably did have low blood sugar. ANYBODY can have that.

Now as for onset of diabetes, have yur Dr check you too for your sugar there too.

ANYBODY AT ANY AGE can develope diabetes or low blood sugar...adn AS you fouond out it is NOTHING TO MESS WITH.

Well I went to the pharmacy to get scripts adn they naturally didn't have one of mine. SO tomorrow.

That was about the sum of my day.

The train nut friend caleld and asked to borrow my wrist splits as he has a bad case of apparent Carpal Tunnel and so wants to borrow mine. His Dr. gave him a quick pain shot but tthat it and he {friend} forgot to mention Carpal tunel surgery. SO he will now go to see the specialist I went to hopefully. He grows extra bone so I am fairly sure he has the problem.

*stumbles in and fumbles into the nearest booth* Flo, some OJ and some toast please.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Afternoon all,

It's in the low 60's right now, sunny with a nice breeze. Went for breakfast this morning, followed by grocery shopping and a lot of errands. Got home and after a sandwich started the weekly laundry. So I'm taking a little break now and after I finish this I need to get the grass cut again. I think I'm only going to do the backyard today, and wil try to get the front done tomorrow.

We had a nice time yesterday. Being Sunday, we went railfanning. Caught 8 trains in 2 hours. 3 Intermodals, 2 mixed freight, 1 coal train, 1 auto rack and 1 trash train. I had just taken some photos of the locomotives on the auto racks, and didn't even notice that it was on track 2. Then out of the corner of my eye I spotted something and when I turned the trash train was overtaking the auto racks on track 1 and moving along at a good pace. I can understand how some accidents can happen because I never heard it coming.

After dinner, which was a chuck roast, mashed potatoes & gravey, whole kernel corn, dinner rolls and a Riesling from Seneca Lake, I settled in to watch our PBS station with episodes of "Bletchley Circle" and "Mr. Selfridge". It seems the British really know how to do period dramas. At least I like them.

Better go and get the grass cut, so everyone have a good one.

Morning all, well sort of since it's half gone already and I haven't accomplished sweet diddly except taking MOH shopping for clothes Huh? Happy wife, happy life.

Kinda sorta ran across a windfall of ho scale model rr stuff on the weekend. Visiting some friends and was showing them what I've been up to and low and behold, one of them said his Mom had just dropped off four big boxes of his model railroad stuff from when he was a teenager. That would make this stuff about 28 years old give or take. He wanted to get rid of it and asked me if I wanted it. I asked him "How Much?" He said just get it outta here soooooooooooooooooooo I said You Bet.

I have no idea whats in those four boxes since I've been doing outside stuff but it should be interesting if nothing else. Price was right after all!

oy are we having some way above seasonal weather the last couple of days Smile, Wink & Grin As in +27 C yesterday and today. Love every second of it especially since the norm is +16 for this time of the year.

Methinks it's CONVERTIBLE WEATHER. Yes, now where did I put the battery away for the winter. Whistling

Good Morning Model Railroaders!  (I dunno, I just felt like saying something different today...)

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of Buckwheat Pancakes with fresh NYS Maple Syrup (yes the stuff from Day Farms just down the road), a side order of bacon, and lots of Seneca Lake Dark Roast coffee in my FGLK mug please.

Jeffrey, I don't work on model railroad stuff in my sleep, I do dream about the 1/1 scale stuff at times though....  LOL Whistling

The city crew is right across the street repairing some damage the plows did last winter.  Hopefully they will go around the corner and repair the damage they did to my lawn too.

Today I start to make the first of the raised bed gardens.  I'm thinking the closest place I can find that I can make level to put the 2x8s together is at the top of my main driveway.  Will have to move the PiP before I can use that area.

Galaxy, I too have been little by little getting caught up with some of the tasks I am way behind with.  Still have a lot to do this spring though...

As of last Saturday the Solar panels had exceeded the entire month output of last January.  By the end of the day tomorrow they should equal or exceed the entire output of last February.  This should be a great month for electric production!

Best get moving!

without that track here I'm pretty much stuck in the mud, I think when I go to the hobby shop I'll pick up some  WS risers. I might smooth it the crossing and road on Ti"N"y I want to try my Hand at that stuff again, might pick up another building too.

class then that, I think those NYC alco's will be spared losing their frames to my SP&S ones instead I'll repaint them. the B unit will get the broad stripe while the A unit will get this interesting scheme I stumbled upon. I wish there was a better picture...

edit: found it!
