Geeps and F's ran together all the time on the BN, I may have to get some B&O GP's and F's. the B&O's my favorite eastern road followed by NYC and Pennsy.
anywho here's a picture where I plan to put the roundhouse. the right side instead of the left, I will screw the turntable down so it'll be level. It'll get moved down so the divider isn't squishing the pasco side.

got teh peepers Lightly examined...for a massive $249 plus tax he would do a thorough exam. I took the cheaper exam, adn the new frames and glasses already cost {with the cheap exam} $330! MOH has to have tfhe REALLY expensive ones at about $500 a pop, so I get out relatively cheap. $100 was the new frames, but mine are plumb worn out. So are the old trade off pair I had,, the metal is deteriorated so they are out.
We have been "spending moeny like we had it", unfortuantely. I have reconstructed the buget for the next 6 months to include SOME purchases we made.It will take a year to balance the budget again.
Now to save {?!} money to go to Baltimore {The B&O museum, KEN will be jealous{?}} and Timonium {Train show} later in August?
Well we had dinner out at Taco Bell for a change to something totally "out of the bun" thanks to returning bottles!

I an glad so many folks here like the GP and F unit picture I stumbled across today. In fact the other day I was wondering if GP where ever ran with F units, now we all know.
Yard War's. Got a lot done to the front today, house look's like it is lived in again! Trimmed the Evergreens, trimmed the bushes, got the dead leaves up, used weed killer and got the grass cut! Funny, I enjoyed my self doing it? That seems odd, I hate cutting the grass!
Repaired mower is working better than the day I bought it!
Well, no Engine Repair Time but the Honey Do List is shorter.

hi guys, my C55 track just got here a box of 18.25" curves, 4.25" straights, and a left hand turnout it's 8 inches long.
time to look at some ME turnouts.
Hey folks, just strolling past, had to stop in and take a look at that picture of a GP with an F. Great shot. I vaguely remember as a kid, ridding on the hay wagon, while out baling, grandpa had a hay field within site of the SOO LINE, (former WCLtd., Soo, WC and now CN) Sometimes we would see 3 GP7's or 9's, I think, and an F unit. The ruling grade for the line from Fond du Lac WI, to Chicago, IL, was a hill just south of Fond du Lac, called Byron Hill. If I remember right, SOO mixed in an F unit in their consists quite regularly. OK, back to it, gotta finish putting the weed and fertilizer stuff down, followed by the grub stuff.

Feeling much better today. I woke up around 1030 though. Maybe the lack of sleep the night before last, combined with an empty stomach, and the generic Benadryl caused my episode. Now that I think about, the same thing happens when I'm really tired. Still gonna talk to my doc when I see her next.
Been working on getting my brother's miata together. It's together now, but the hood doesn't line up with the fenders. Might be bent, which wouldn't suprise me. The sheet metal (even parts of the frame rails) are really thin. Like thinner than code 83 rail. I guess that's how that thing weighs so little.
Gonna go to the train club later. Don't think I'm gonna mess with the other GP38-2 at the moment. I can bring it down next week.

Todd, it sounds like you need another tractor or mower at your place...(That, or a bigger shed!)
Speaking of dumpsters and junk, I noticed last week that an apartment building had a (worn-out) couch/sofa sitting by the dumpster down the street (It had been raining hard the night before, when it was out there...). But when I came back from doing laundry, the couch was IN the dumpster (and I doubt that the dumpster truck will take it...). We don't have a bridge close to us, so if the stuff at the curb is (in someone else's opinion) worthwhile, it may disappear fairly quickly. Otherwise, we have a (once?) yearly day when the city will haul away old fridges, stoves, etc. from the curbside. Ah, America, land of excess...stuff!

Guess the small businesses have better lobbyists in the House than in the Senate? Even if that gets passed, it'll still be harder for small LHS's (than for some of the huge model train places which also have a well-know internet presence). Not wanting that soapbox to come creeping out, but regulation, taxes, and such nowadays are not too favorable for smaller businesses. (Rant done...)
Ray, I bet your committee members will especially listen to you if your plan involves you doing the modifications and setup for free...(TINSTAAFL...)

We are having some nice, sunny weather today in Cape-land (high of 72 F predicted). Of course, I wore my long-sleeve shirt to w**k this morning, not having seen any weather report at that time...

Another sunny day here in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS. The trees in my front yard are starting to blossom and the beautiful little dandelions in the yard give it a nice yellow polka dotted look.... Currently 72°F outside with a gentle breeze.
I want to get the first of the raised beds done this morning as I just got off the phone with the old teacher friend who wants me to get the wood sitting near the road on their property today... I will go over later this afternoon, saw what I can, and get back home in time to get to the properties committee meeting at church do answer their questions. Most of them won't like my answers most likely as I obviously don't know anything about acoustics and sound even though I did Pro Sound and Recording for 20 years... Maybe this time they will listen to me as I think they are running out of cheaper "solutions" that don't work. LOL
Best get moving as it will be a busy day here (again)!

Actually, I know all about it, because it's my bridge that they cross. It's for sale if anyone is interested.

LION got a dumpster when we moved out of Brooklyn. Had to post a guard over it so that the neighborhood would not fill it up before we got rid of all of our stuff.
On the other hand, when the LION worked for the Franciscans in Manhattan, we got a dumpster, and were able to fill it up three times before they came and took it away. People would dive in and recover things that they could sell, such as copper tubing from air conditioners, stainless steel and the like. They worried about people getting hurt in there or making a mess on the street.

I resisted bifocals for a long time. One of those "I'm not that old yet" things, I guess. I got used to them very quickly. SWMBO and my daughter got on me to get more "fasionable" frames, which I did one time. I hated them - too small, so I went back to the same style I like. Glasses are one thing you should let good sense rule on.

That is getting to be such a PITA. We now have one "official" government-issued garbage can, and two recycling bins. Anything more than the can will hold has to go in a special extra-cost bag, and good luck getting rid of stuff like old plywood. At least they come by and take old TVs and washing machines, and don't charge for that, yet. We're probably going to need a dumpster to get rid of all the unwanted junk in the house when we downsize.
I get my peepers looked at today and get new glasses ordered.Maybe then I will be able to see what I type on the computer!

Good morning. It's 64° with 78% humidity. It'll be cloudy with a high of 85°.I'm going to drive myself insane yet. This morning I'm thinking about installing coupler cut levers on my newest rebuilt GP40. Why? What's so special about it? It was just a piece of junk that somebody sold off AS junk. Why should it be worthy of special attention? Why not the old Spectrum Bachmann GP40? I wasn't even even considering it. My eyes went right to the newest one. Maybe I should give this more thought. Or maybe I should try finding some cheap source of cut levers. I don't know. I'm gonna drive myself buggy yet.

God morning, all. Happy Tuesday to you. Bright and sunny in New England today, 42 when I left the house but going up to 70 later. We're supposed to get some rain tomorrow to wash away the pollen. I didn't do any train stuff yesterday, but I'm planning for the carfloat base work that I hope to do this weekend. The apron will be fixed to the layout, but the carfloat itself will be mounted on its own piece of 2-inch foam with tinted Envirotex (LOVE that dirty water) around it. I built a fold-down shelf at the end of the apron for the carfloat, because it's a tight squeeze getting in there. The carfloat came out about a quarter of an inch low, so I'll be adding a layer of thin plywood or maybe masonite beneath it to match the apron and keep the whole thing dead level to make the switching easier.
The original plan for the carfloat was to use it as a cassette, and I may yet end up doing that, but that may become a long-term plan instead. To that list of things to consider when designing a carfloat terminal, you can add "easy operator access." I was thrilled to figure out how to shoehorn the terminal into a back corner of my layout, but now that it's a reality I realize how awkward it is to get into, and how tough it's going to be to get this to work using the rather distant electromagnet as the only uncoupler available. But, retirement looms, and with that the opportunity to re-confugre Mooseport to be on an accessible aisle, in a new trainroom, in a state with lower taxes.
Speaking of taxes, our "friends" in Washington are cooking up a cauldron of sales taxes for Internet purchases, allowing states to collect sales taxes on thing bought online. I get almost everything from my LHS, which means I pay sales tax but no shipping, so it doesn't affect me much, but those of you who buy their trains online are going to see an extra charge if this goes through. On the other hand, it will make the LHS a bit more competitive in high-tax states, so it's a mixed blessing for some.

Insipid?! Who said Insipid???!!! (pssst…what’s insipid mean?)
Well Bear, if you’re used to English Mustard then, yellow mustard is indeed insipid. Problem I had with English Mustard first time I had it was not really knowing what it was. It looked like a pale and not quiiiiite as liquid as our familiar stuff, but I figured it was English so maybe tasted just a bit different if I could even tell ( you know how them English just gotta be different than us yanks.) so I figured it was something on the lines of that poop-on stuff. I just put ‘er on there like it was mustard…...whew! Like a horseradish exPLODED in my mouth!..... With a hint of mustard. I do like it and get it at the Chinese buffet to dip my eggroll in from time to time. Just not as much mustard per bite.
Mowed yesterday and rolled the lawn. Shoulda done it after I mowed, but hey...it got done. I'll do it again after the next rain until I gets pretty smooth. Yard needs over seeded in places too. Also w**ked on the old Cub Cadet, well, actually just charged the battery again. But as far as Brenda is concerned, I w**ked on it . Got stopped about 5 to go to w**k as the guy that w**ks had to go car shopping. Talk about last minute. HIs car quit ya know and it's not worth putting any more money into. I’ll see tonight what he got. Today is my “full” w**k day, but I hope to get a chance to mow the yard again. I had to mow it so high, and last time the rain came again before I had a chance to mow it lower. Plus I have to get all the tall dead grass up and no better way that with the bagger on the push mower. But I need to get that IH started and out of the shed so the JD can get in and out of the garage so the DC can get in. We'll see. Right now I'm so confused I don't know what I's supposed to do.

The fruit cake I was referring to is basically butter, sugar, eggs, flour, baking powder and sultanas, done right, moist but not stodgy.Our Christmas cakes have a variety of fruit and nuts and are definitely "richer" but nice in small amounts.
