Evening Diners, been a busy day/week around here what with yard w*rk, running 100 miles to visit MOH's Mom who is 91 soon to be 92, getting my hearing tested for new aids, nothing done on the RR.

If you recall I mentioned that I got 4 big boxes of Model RR stuff from a friend? Well, I wasn't expecting a lot and that's pretty much what I got. Lots of old rolling stock, some really old diesels and an assortment of old buildings. Most of it is destined for the parts box but that's ok. There are a number of boxcars and oil cars that I can rebuild which will be ok. Oh right, there are a number of Atlas turnout twin coil switch machines that I do need.

Any body want a bunch of brass sectional track and turnouts?

Anyway good thoughts to all. Have a good night

Dennis

Edit - Evening snacks/drinks are on me it appears. Run a tab for me Flo please and I'll settle up in the AM. Give yourself a good tip too Flo.

I have a saying.  "You can't be unhappy in a Hawaiian shirt."  Whenever I say it, always when wearing such a shirt, of course, it brings a smile, which makes me think that it should be "You can't be unhappy anywhere near a Hawaiian shirt."  When I get a new picture for my security badge at work, I always wear my bright red one that I got in Hawaii, so in a way, I'm always wearing a Hawaiian shirt.

Aloha ahiahi ia oukou  {good evening to you all}

Well

Went to the Psychiatrist.

He said I was STILL not right in the head, that it was all in my head and I was not only crazy, but nuts too... I have the papers to prove that.

A shirt I bought the other day arrived, I always wash everything once to get the bug spray and stiffeners out of them. Then I wore it once, Then it went Into the wash again. The placket for the button panel is FRAYING already where it is sewn to itself for the button strengthening. two washings, one wearing! I will call the company and demand a refund! I will have to return it of course. i have 4 more similar shirts,,wonder how long they will last? Will order one form another company to get a "good one".. It is about the 12th item I have bought form the company. Someone at a brick and mortar store here said "their stuff is crap" and I thought is was salesmanship/sour grapes, but i think he is right,. Out of 12 items I bought, 3 fell apart. That is 25% failure rate! I don't think I will order from them again. I'd tell you WHO, but I don't want to start company-bashing posts.

The shirt, BTW was a Hawaiian style shirt, I guess I should stick with ordering ALOHA shirts directly form Hawaiian manufacturers! made in Hawaii RULES!!

Ate out at Wendy's with coupons came in at $6 for two "complete meals". Fast food is not cheap anymore, either it would have been double that....without the coupons.

due to track shortages I've decided that ME will have to fill the void for what little atlas N scale code 55 turnouts there are out there. I ordered a ton of stuff, some insulated joiners, a pair of track terminal wires some 15" R track, some 4.25" track, and some 2" track, and some decals for SP&S hood units. I need to order some more 18.75" R track. I lengthened the left track so it goes to the halfway point and there's a straight 4.25" piece then the 15" curves will go there and that will lead into Pasco yard which will have a stub end if there isn't enough space. I'm understimating the amount of space just in case there isn't enough.

About the busiest I got today was fitting Athearn diesel horns like those below to four GP40's and an H24-66. I think that will be the extent of my model railroad work today.

Morning All,

Currently it is 51 with an expected high of 72 with thunderstorms in spots.

Day off today, but lots to do. Laundry, vacuuming, cut the grass if it is not too wet, and possibly put up another mini-blind in the bedroom. If time permits, do some w**k on the layout and order some model railroad supplies.

Terry - Glad to hear your son is getting out of the sandbox. Tell him thanks for his service.

Todd - Sorry to hear about your aunt.

   Well better get at it.

  Prayers to all in need.

Unalihelitseti. Good morning. It's 58° with 89% humidity. Patchy fog. Some clouds with a high of 85°.

I can't read too well this morning. Having some difficulty focusing. Think I'll take it easy today and do a lot of nothing. I got the two GP40's I was working on speed matched.

By the way, the strange word at the beginning of this post isn't anything ominous. It's simply 'Greetings' in Cherokee. You can use a suitable translator to check it if you like.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and some chocolate cupcakes please. Thanks.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 81.

Oh! Abba’s on the juke box….!

About the taxes collected over the net. I guess I have no real qualms as we are supposed to pay them anywayWhistling. (ya, like when we come home from vacation. We wrote down the sales taxes we paid and if we paid less to other states, we paid the difference to Illinoys. We’re supposed to do that you know.) What gets me is we have a line on our Illinoyz taxes for that. Now That’s not what gets me. What gets me, is you MUST fill in the line, and the minimum is like $3.

My Aunt passed away yesterday morningAshamed. I’m really glad I went down to see her those last couple times. It was a blessing as she was really wasting away from cancer. Luckily she never suffered painwise from it and we all are grateful she was taken before she did.

Got my Cub Cadet started yesterday, she’s alive and kickin at the young age of 36! I think I’ll use it to roll the yard one last time before handing over to the new owner. Who by the way said heck yes I still want it.

Outside w**k today so guess I’ll get a move on. Probably do some trimming of bushes with the hand trimmers. Gotta be quiet until like 8 or 9…Confused... yuppies. Lunch is in town of courseYes as we need a couple things from the store.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Ah, Wednesday morning.  Tuesday nights I still play hockey, officially it's no-check but we still have pushing and shoving.  It's a mixture of guys (and occasionally a woman or two) varying in age from early 20s to 66, which would be me.  It's not exactly Stanley Cup quality.  Last night, we won something like 24-9.  I got a "Tuesday Night shutout," which is anything less than 10 goals allowed.  It's hard to drag myself to work on Wednesday mornings, though.

It looks like questionable weather for a few days.  I've got to cut some Masonite for the carfloat's "dirty water" base.  It's not a big deal, but for some reason it's one of those things I hate doing.

Ulrich, I wish you good fortune with your political career.  Keep your ears open, and don't let ideology and dogma get in the way of your good sense.

Lunchtime!

Flo, I need some organic health food - how about a big burger, a platter of fries and a glass of OJ -the healthy part of the meal? Thank you.

Boy, am I busy. I hardly find the time to eat. It´s a 16 hour work day for me now, as we are getting ready for the campaign. No time for MRRing, which makes me wonder what made me start that politics business.

Sorry, I have to leave again - need to write up a political comment for a news paper.

Have a good one!

Flo, I'll start out with a beer this morning, it just seems like one of those days!

Mornin' to all, from here in warm-beautiful Northern MN, where the Governor's Fishing Opener will be located in Park Rapids (my home town) this weekend and none of the lakes in the area are clear of ice, yet!!  The "Panic Button" at the Chamber of Commerce, has been very firmly "pressed" and the train is screeching to a "halt".

What will we do?!?  Any suggestions from the fine folks here in the dinner?

My thoughts are:  I've heard that our Governor cares about fishing, as little as I do.  So, he's good.  It's his entourage of media folks that will of course write nasty articles on how Park Rapids is: "So behind the times" that it couldn't heat the area lakes so they would be ready for such an important event!

Life goes on, Obla de, Obla da!Beer

Good evening ...

Sunday morning the pastor's wife stayed home with the flu. I think the pastor was cantageous because about half of the congregation cought the flu including myself. yesterday was miserable, but I' much better now.

Terry ..... That's great news about your son! ...... Also, I like the weathering of your freight cars.

Ken and others: ...... Actually it was common to see road switchers in consists with F-units or Alco FA's especially in the early 1960's. Each road had its own way of doing it however. .... I recall seeing many CB&Q locomotive consists with GP7, GP9, SD7, or SD9 as the center unit in a five unit consist. For example: F3A, F3B, SD7, FTB, FTA.  Normally the A units of the F's were either leading or trailing. Only a handful of F3 A units were ever equiped with MU connections in the front end. The FT's were always coupled in AB sets with drawbars. Many F3's were also in AB sets with drawbars. .............. After N&W acquired the Wabash RR, it MU'ed Geeps with steam generators with Wabash E units. ........ GN also MU'ed its E7's with Geeps with steam genrators.

Speaking of the B&O, I road the B&O Capital Limited from Chicago to Washington, DC and back many years ago. In more recent years, I went to the B&O RR Museum, and it is a great exhibit.

Have a nice evening, everybody

Yeah, Vince the BN locos book I have has a whole chapter on those covered wagons that'd roam the PNW as well as the tri cities area(I can't remember). Some guys hated them because they had holes in them(E units too), as well as the crankshafts sometimes breaking and flying around inside the unit.

I asked a former BN employee(youtuber Wesolint) about 'em he said they were gone by the time he hired in. lots of old geeps were still around at that time, even the E units outlasted those buggers. #724 the F I have was retired after a crash. I need to look for my E units #9942 & 9943, I know they're E9A's(I'll have to check the loco # in the back of the book).

Evening guys

I went to the train club today. I used the JMRI there to speed match the GP38-2 I just finised to my GP30 and GP15-1. Also got my ATSF SD40-2 speed matched and consisted to my 2 BLI C30-7s. I'm probably going to keep the SD40-2, I can say it's a run-through or pool unit. ATSF power wasn't uncommon on Southbound coal traffic from Wyoming. Heck, I could have SP, DRGW, KCS, and/or MKT power too. That reminds me, I need to work on getting my coal train back together.

As for my doctor? She said the same thing as I said, but did advise I get checked. So I'll set up an appointment for that one.

Gary and Ken, For a while in Marias pass the helper set was 3 F-units ABB and a GP. I have the issue of TRP that shows that.

Terry, Good to hear you're soon will be back. IMO, the "sandbox" should have been taken care of the first time. But that's politics, I think.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Evenin" folks!

Janie, just my cup of decaf at the moment.

Been a long and very busy day around these parts and another day with absolutely no Model Railroading in the mix... Sigh  But, I did finish the construction of the first of 3 raised bed for gardening I am building this Spring (hope to do much of #2 tomorrow before the showers arrive), drove over to the old colleague's house and got a good load of firewood in the Pip (probably 1/6th. facecord), and made the presentation for the changes in the sanctuary at church to the property committee.  Came back home tonight and started looking at the costs of a couple other landscaping projects I want to do this spring.

The meeting went well at church as I had the support of the guy who usually does the sound and the interim pastor...  They are going to start looking at the cost and the options for putting up acoustic panels in the back of the sanctuary as well as some other corrections in sound they have in mind.  I did suggest that controlling the noise floor of the space should be done first and then look at the other projects.  One thing they want is to be able to bring sound from the service into the "Social Hall" (dining room) and a couple of parlors connected to it.  I emailed the Pastor and the sound man after I got home that I can take care of the Social Hall easily with just some mic cord, the XLR ends for it and some time...  I will donate the wire and XLR plugs for it.  We already have sound in the Social Hall and I just need to add a feed from the mixer in the Sanctuary.

Time for me to catch some ZzzZzzZzz

See you in the morning!  Prayers for all in need...

That was nothing unusual. Used to see geeps and F's  running together here pretty often.
