Good morning. It's 67° with 93% humidity. It'll be cloudy with a good chance of rain. The high will be 80°.

It's very wet here this morning. A larger line of thunder storms moved through last night and this morning dumping what sounded to be a massive amount of rain. The sound of it on my roof was a constant roar for nearly two hours. The power never even flickered but the cable internet was out for a while this morning that I'm aware of. If I was to sum up my thoughts on the storms in my native language, for polite conversation of course, some of my chosen words would be 'asdaya', 'ulosásdi', 'gadulida', 'anagalisgá', 'ayádakualosgá'. I hope we don't have another storm like that anytime soon. We're under a flash flood watch until 6pm Saturday. Right now the radar shows clear here but there's more ugly stuff making it's way across east Texas.

I may work on getting part of the layout cleaned up today. On the other hand I may sit around and watch some movies. It just depends on what I feel like doing at the time. Good thing I got the grass mowed yesterday.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a couple sour cream glazed donuts to dunk in the Bill sized mug filled with dark roast coffee.

Harumph!  Would have thought at least someone would have enjoyed the photo of the decal....  Maybe I was too subtle...  A neighbor who is a rail fan just saw it and roared!  I'll get a better photo later.

Ken, prayers for your daughters surgery today and for a quick and uneventful recovery!

Lets see, somebody had a birthday yesterday, I think, and I missed it...  Hmmmmm...  Well, whoever it was, a happy belated birthday to you!

I just paid for the new air conditioner.  The installer came over and showed me all the ins and outs of running it.  Took about 45 seconds actually...

Haven't been sleeping very well lately.  I wake up sore and achy and have to roll over, then the other side gets sore and achy and I have to roll over again.  Can't get comfortable.  You don't think my 23 or so year old mattress needs to be exchanged for a new one do you?  Hmmm....  Might just as well run up the revolving credit a bit more.  I can only draw on it until mid July.

Have few things I have to get done today (Laundry and banking) so I best get moving.  Later!

Good morning everyone,

Tuesday was not a very good day for me. When I got on the computer in the morning to check e-mails, etc., I was upset to find out I had been hit by another virus and couldn't do a thing. It was fine when I shut down Monday night. Anyway, I couldn't do any thing so I called this guy who advertises in the Yellow Pages. He came to the house, but as it was a version he hadn't seen before, he took my laptop back to his shop. He called early the next morning and I picked it up. Got it home and everything is fine and no problems. This was a lot better than when I got hit with a virus on a different laptop about 4 years ago. When I got that one back, they had wiped my harddrive and reinstalled Window. That was really a pain reinstalling all my programs, etc. This guy left everything intact except for removing the virus, so I will definately keep his phone number.

And yes, I use anti-virus software. The first laptop had Norton. So when I got the one I presently have, I had McAfee installed. The worst part is I just renewed the subscription. Oh well....

Rained most of the night here, and a light rain is still hanging around. Temperatures are lower than what they have been as well. We need the rain however, as the ground was getting a little dry and hard. I've been very busy all week with the "List of Chores", so I think I might just sit back and chill out a little. Got 2 new books from Amazon and might start on one of them.

Hope everyone has a good one...

Barry ....... Looks like Bill T brought almost enough coffee for a Barry-sized cup!

Ken ..... I hope your daughter's surgery is okay.

Bear ..... Can you tell us about those interesting center cab switchers?

Lee ....... Have not seen you post in a while. I hope you are okay.

Ulrich .... I think you should have a whistle stop campaign.

Everybody..... Keep Smiling! .... Big Smile

Good Morning!!!

Whoowee! Plenty of coffee this morning…, expecting a crowd? Well, maybe if they see there’s plenty, some people will stop by that haven’t been in in a while.

Coffee, the French roast there on the back left top burner, two eggs over medium, home fries, and a couple slices of maple bacon please. Thanks.

A 20 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 64.

Hula girls! Alright!Stick out tongue

Galaxy- I agree, the pineapples from Dole are by far the best tasting. Whenever they show up we grab one. Otherwise, we just get one if we really need one and cross our fingers.

Thebarnet- Congratulations!!!

Hey Charlie!! Welcome back! Glad you made is safe and sound, sounds like you had a great time!

Dennis- Glad you sold the car. Kinda disheartening when you have trouble selling something you think should go quick and at a good price isn’t it? Been there plenty of times. But hey, like you said, it cost you shy of $18 a month to enjoy so that’s pretty cheap.Yes

Ulrich- Sounds like panic from the other side is going well for you. Yes, in politics you must truly have thick skin and address each “insult” with dignity or smile and ignore it. Agitated responses actually harm you more than their accusations. Too bad we don’t go by that rule here in the States.

Alexstan- I think I took my birthday wishes back so Happy B-Day

Ah college, didn’t need it. Turns out I learned everthing in High School. Some of us are just blessed I suppose. I remember talking to the Counselor about my future college needs and my career and he said I was full of it so I figured, hm…., why spend the extra money when I’m already know everything.

Welp, got a…just shy of an inch of rain yesterday so this morning after the neighborhood gets good and awake, that is after 0900 (yuppies), I shall fire up the Cubby and roll the yard again. I figure I’ll do that after every rain until the thing gets back to smooth. Then don’t know until we have to leave for Pleasant Hill, IL for my Aunts visitation services at 4:00 pm. Should take us between an hour and a half and 2 hours to get there. Tomorrow, I may or may not be in, probably will, but the funeral is at the Baptist Church in Nebo at 1030, so just depends.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

A good Friday morning to you all.  (Guten Nachmittag to you, Ulrich, with the time zones and all.)

Special greetings to thebarnet on his marriage, and to Alexander on becoming a voting-age-anyway grown-up.  We've got a transition of our own coming up next week, as our daughter Annie will be graduating from college with a degree in neuroscience.  She will need more of that book-learnin' in the future in that field, but right now she's like me, tired of all the years of school and ready to try something different for a while.

The forecast looks like rain for this weekend, which will be good for the lawn and even better for modeling.  As they say, every cloud has a nickel-silver lining....

Good Evening All, A hot chocolate please. Had our first frost of the year up on the plateau Wednesday, day turned out nice with a high of 71 F.Tonight is a lot cooler with rain, "her- in- doors" had  lit the fire before I got home.

Alexander.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!!  DrinksCake  Have a "Victorian Bitter" on me. Beer

The Barnet. CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!! Drinks Cake

JimRCGMO.  "excellent for constructing a retaining wall..." Hmm Yeah, I can well see why you'd want to steer well clear.

Todd. My belated condolences regarding your Aunt.

I can appreciate your thoughts regarding Hot English Mustard. Growing up in in the 60s and early 70s here in Southern Rural  New Zealand was a lot different than today, though  I guess you could say that about any where. Meat and three veg was the staple diet, 1/2 a teaspoon of "mild" curry powder was a "spicy" addition to a stew!!! So you can imagine how I felt when on a reciprocal hospitality luncheon invitation to a British Merchant ship in port, I tried the "Fish Curry", talk about being ambushed except I couldn't !!!! Boy oh boy!!! Turned out the cook was a Pakistani and I now wonder, especially as I now enjoy hot spicy food" if It was as hot as it seemed then!!!! Did more than clear the sinuses, melted them more like. The only other time it happened was when I was w**king up in Fiji, the locals regularly used  a small yellow chilli  and on occasion chewed on one, , so being a polite sort of person when offered one I thought it would be rude to refuse, so gave it a go, wish I hadn't, could hardly breathe.!!!!!! I would not be game enough to say that it would stop Jeffery in his tracks, but i would suggest that it would, at least, give him some RED HOT ideas for his next Frankenloco. Big Smile

Gary, Hope your Oma remains feeling better, and good to see the progress on your layout.

NP2626. Out ot curiosity I "google mapped" Park Rapids and have to ask why the "crop circles" and what do they grow ???

Well this weekend Her-in-Doors and I are off to a "get together" in my old stomping grounds in the Northern King Country, so will wish you all a great weekend.Smile, Wink & Grin

Thoughts and Best Wishes to All that need them.

Cheers, the Bear.

Good Morning Folks!

it has been a tiring, but rewarding day yesterday. I had to chair the first party board meeting after having been elected chairman a week ago. We were actually able to work our way through the entire agenda and make the "right" decisions. Lots of work ahead till September! Good thing is that a recent poll by one of our leading tabloid newspapers sees us at 19%, which would be too good to be true. Some of the German media people still call us names - rightist, nationalists, populists being the harmless ones. Thank goodness I learned how to grow a thick skin while being a moderator of the Trains forums Smile, Wink & Grin

thebarnet - congratulation to the newlyweds! My your marriage be blessed. I am in my 30th year of marriage, and there has not been a single day of regret!

CNCharlie - well come back. I bet you enjoyed your trip. Was the loco pulling your train a SAR class 25NC? Those are fairly large beasts for a narrow gauge loco, just about the size of a regular standard gauge loco in Europe, but small when compared to the behemoths of the US.

I am concerned about our MIA´s -so any of us "regulars" have not shown up for a long time!

Have a good one!

Good evening .

Vincent. ... Now you are doing SP too. Is the F7 a black widow?

Galaxy...... If I spent that much for a watch battery, I would be ticked off so to speek.

Mike .... I'd like to hear more about the museum you mentiond. Pictures would be nice too.

CN Charlie ..... Welcome back to North America and to the DIner! ...... I'm sure there are plenty of RBF's .... (Newer diners: RBF = Root Beer Float. Elliots has the best RBF's anywhere. ) ....... I'm glad to hear it was such a wonderful trip!....... Feel free to post pictures (Not 2500 of them but a few of the trains you mentioned).

Jeff ..... I think the new horns are great additions to the FP7's.

Flip ...... I just sent an email to Duke asking about JR. Also abot Atta Boy who has not been here in ages. ..... I'm getting some email addresses mixed up. I hope I have yours still.

Now..... who else? .... Bama? where is Bama? ...... There are others too

I'll tell more about the trip we had. Remember Shelley was treated to birthday dinner at Morton's Steakhouse in Atlanta? .... The special birthday dessert was out of this world. It was called lemon souflette, and I have never had it before. Wow was it good.

On the layout, I've been having funb running on the branchline. .... My warrentee repair for my Sountraxx Tsumsami came back to me today. So, I will wire it back into the 2-10-2.

Happy Model Railroading!

Cheers everbody

Evening folks!  Sure, it's Miller time, I'll have one Beer in frosted mug please, thanks dear, keep the change. Oh and take out one for cudaken, for when ever he may stroll in.

Yep, I'm a bit early tonight.  Rain started here in SE WI, so I closed down the garage, and actually turned the train room lights on, to make sure it was still there !  I did manage to get caught up, in the last few days, with my outside stuff.  Can't wait until I get this cast off my left hand, and lower arm, so I can be 100% with what I need to get done!

Galaxy, I like those hibiscus plants.  We had one for the longest time, and I think it froze out.  The poppy red flowers were as big as a frying pan!  Really cool!  And, about the posts in here, the tools at the top of the page are like many of the other word and works and email programs I use,  but the Edit thing did throw me off a bit.  And all I had to do was move my mouse over the pencil and it became clear what it was for....DAH!   MisterBeasley, that poster looks like something I should have in my garage.  I do have a couple that I take down each summer while our grandson is with us.  (at grandma's request), and a calendar, I mean it's not a Playboy calendar by any means, but......no need to start anything.  As long as I'm rambling here, (taking a sip from the ice cold mug) BN#24, Gary, your SP&S project is lookin' good.  Good your got your track now, so you start to figure things out.  For some reason, I caught got up in your project, and I think it's really cool.  Jeff, horns kinda finish things off.  I was running a Kato WC, taking pictures and a video, and while watching the video after I downloaded it, I realized I didn't put on the horns!  Oh yea!

Well, I think I'll go down and run a commuter train.  I set one up, a "push-pull" train, with bi-level commuter cars, and a cab-car at the end.  I'd like to eventually add lights to the cab car.  I needed something to stop at the station that is still under construction!   One way to check out your track work, is the "push mode", my train is only 3 cars plus the loco, but, so far, I can do scale commuter train speeds with no problems, which is a good thing, as about 7' of my mainline runs hidden, under my city scape.

One last thing, as long is the diner is where ever you want it this month, this weekend, I'll take everyone down a couple of blocks from my house, to the East Troy Electric RR sub-station and museum.  Right across the tracks is an old farmers co-op building that has been turned into a 1920's era ice cream parlor.  It's really great!  During the summer, when the grandson is with us, he and his buddy climb into the wagon I pull with the old Simplicity 700, and we head on down to the ice cream parlor.  After supper of course, (once again, grandma's rule) for an evening treat.

OK, I'm outa' here!  Have a great night everyone!

Mike.

Went down and fed the dogs and raided my fathers pantry for a snack. Good thing I mowed the grass today. It's raining outside and there are ominous rumblings to the west. Looked at the radar and there's a big ugly line of storms coming across east Texas headed straight for us. No further model railroading activity today.

Good Evening Diners!

Well it has been quite a while since I last visited so RBFs for everyone please Chloe.

I was away all of April and didn't have any access to the net or any other electronic device. My wife and I were on our trip to Africa. We were in Botswana or a week of safari, mostly in the Okovango Delta, then to Victoria Falls for a couple of days and finally South Africa for some safari and also to visit the Cape Town area. I did have a train experience on this trip consisting of a 21/2 day journey on Rovos Rail from Pretoria to Cape Town. That is a thousand mile journey and was great fun. Rovos Rail operates a train of re-built carriges from mostly the 1920's. Ours had just 3 compartments as each has its own bathroom with shower. The train is pulled out of the station with a steam loco. When we arrived there is was hissing away right in front. It was a 4-8-4 but very small by North American standards as it is on 3.5 foot guage. Anyway it was a thing of beauty and I did get up in the cab. My wife got to blow the whistle! If you want to see what it is like, just Google Rovos Rail as they have a very good website with lots of pictures. You have to wear a jacket and tie for dinner so the train is quite formal in certain ways.

Anyway back to reality. Lucky we were away for April as the snow just melted the week before we got home. The leaves aren't out yet and we will be lucky if they are by the end of the month. I did the cleanup of the backyard after work this week and am taking this evening off. I haven't touched anything model related in nearly 2 months but might get back to it soon. Perhaps a trip to the LHS on Saturday will get me back in the mood. They have sold 2 engines I had on consignment and I need to go spend the cash.

I did read the posts back to the beginning of May and was saddened to hear that Jerry's wife passed away. I hope he drops by the diner.

Well time to do something such as read Classic Trains or look at some trip photos. My wife has downloaded about 2500 so far and is busy editing and deleting. We got some great shots of birds and leopard this trip not to mention elephant, rino, etc.

See you soon,

CN Charlie

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
