Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of buttermilk pancakes and a side of bacon along with lots of dark roast coffee to start the day....

I'm heading out to Boy Scout Camp for the afternoon.  plan to start the upgrade of the sound system out there on the dining hall.  need to make a check list of everything needing to be done, make sure we have all the necessary equipment, and plan the sequence of things to do to get it done.

Jake and Paul, they used to have a local program with the police dept., courts, and schools with the signed consent of the parents for some of our worse acting students, they got to spend the day at a high security penitentiary in a nearby city.  The program was called Scared Straight and hopefully kept more than a few of the problem kids out of jail.  I remember an 8th. grade girl who went and decided to get mouthy to a convicted murderer who was talking to the group.  He went over, grabbed the girl by the arm, shook her up.  She said, "You can't do that to me!"  He grimaced and got about an inch from her face and said, "I can't?  I'm serving two life sentences for murder, I ain't never gonna see the outside again.  You think I won't beat the $!&& out of you?  What they gonna do to me honey!!!  The guards just stood there and grinned, BTW (all part of the show.)  She started hyperventilate and cry on the spot. She was very glad to get home so she could change her clothes. Whistling  Acted quite a bit different for the rest of the school year, she did!

Best get moving.

  Morning All,

Currently 51 with an expected high of 75, under partly sunny skies.

Gave the engine house a second and final c0at of paint last night. Will install the windows doors and roof details later today, then install it on the layout.

I am needed at my daughters today (actually my TRUCK is needed) to take yard clippings to the local landfill. Once a year Carson City has a free pass to use the landfill, so people save a lot of stuff for when they get the pass.

She wants to go shooting, but I have way too much to do to here at home. so I will bring her some ammo. I just ask for the empty casings so I can reload them.

Jake several years ago, aformentioned daughter was in a similar program. It was quite intense. The day of the program, every 15 minutes a student was pulled out of class by the Grim Reaper. As a parent of one of the students who was "killed" a Nevada Highway Patrol officer came to both my and my wifes place of work to tell us our daughter was in an accident. Although the whole thing was staged and everyone involved knew it was staged, it was very emotional. That year, there were no fatalaties of students on the weekend of the Senior Prom. Excellent program. I hope you learned something from it.

    Prayers to all in need.

I have lit {I lighted?} an extra prayer candle for Sallie and Jerry.

Well already went off to the grocery store. MOH wanted some stuff to which I said "get it after you get done working"..I was very strongly reminded that MOH's "brain will be fried and won't remember and will only want to get out of the store when done working" so I went to get the stuff. Early to avoid the crowds like I do. I asked for a carry out as I often do, at the beginning of my transaction. THE cashier waited until the transaction was done before enquiring if there was someone to do a carryout. {??} Then after a 5 min wait I decided to go myself and struggle. {By the time I am done and with heavy stuff like waters,my back has had it}  SO the manager came out chasing me down to "carry out" me. He was apologetic about it and said he was sorry I had to start myself.

Well now for a few dishes and some laundry..just one load. Should run the vacuum....

We got a new wireless mouse to replace the DELL one that was clicking stuff we didn't want clicked and not clicking what we did want clicked. It would double or triple click things even with only one click. SO now we are "modernized with a wireless mouse.. It's a Logitech mouse, a M185. Whatever that means its not a part number that is different. MOH called yesterday from the store and said "which one do I get?" "there is a M95 {?} a M185 {Which we got} and a M300{?}." I said pick the one number that is in the middle as I don't know what it means as ong as it has the scroll wheel in it!? So it works.

Oh...don't get low lumens LED light bulbs on the yellow spectrum..too dim we found out the hard way! Sam's had them in a 2 pack at a nice price of about $20, and I thought with the battery lantern we have is 35 lumens and very bright, so the 85 lumens would be enough,,, but NO! they are NOT. WHY is it every time they switch bulb types they change the rating for light emitted??? SO get the high lumens bright white spectrum bulbs if you want good light to light your house with! We returned those and go the mouse instead!

Dinner will be steak/beef of some kind..MOh's favorite...MOH was "fed to much chicken and fish" as  child, so likes beef...I got some marked down because it expires tomorrow...and will use it tonight for special dinner as it is MOh's first "full" day at work! I D hope MOh remembers its a 10 minute break, not a 15-er today they only give 10 minutes, not 15. DOn't have to actually give any, but 10 is better than none. Don't need to get caught on a long break the first day!

Well, I should get to putting in my new Hawaiian music/chant CDs and get to the housework.

later

Morning All,

Went out this morning and ordered a folding top for my truck bed so we can keep suitcases in the back and not get them wet if it rains. It will be installed on Friday. We leave on Saturday-nothing like waiting to the last minuteWhistling. Plans for tomorrow are to drive to the coast and go to Patrick AFB for the Exchange and Commissary.

I finished putting down the trees and scenic details in the area I was working on. I will post a pic later.

Jerry- I am sending prayers and healing thoughts to you and your family on this very sad occasion.

Hope everyone has a good day and prayers for those in need.

Actually it's my nieces yard. My father just lives in the house that's there. What I meant by 'it's not mine' is that it's not my wedding that's being held there. Perish the thought of THAT ever happening!

Good morning. It's 53° with 61% humidity. It'll be sunny with a high of 72°.

I'm not feeling good this morning. Yesterday I was feeling like my bones were frozen and I still feel that way. I just can't get warm no matter what I do. I have the heater set on high and even sitting next to it doesn't seem to make a difference. But I do feel stronger than I did yesterday so maybe this is going to pass quickly.

I may do some more work on the rotary plow today. There's also an Atlas signal tower that's begging to be put together. Another kit I have sitting here is a Black Bart Mine metal kit. I don't know when I'll be able to start on that. It should be a challenge.

Good morning everybody!

It's Kentucky Derby Day! ..... Churchill Downs will be full of people dressed uo and wearing fancy hats. It's a great American tradition.. Mint juleps will be consumed. ...... The part I like the best is Kentucky Derby Pie. I love deserts of course, and derby pies are terrific.  ..... Weather will be less than ideal in Louisville - cloudy, cool, and raining. ....

Late yesterday, I worked more on the doodlebug with my friend, Gus, at his house. This was to correct issues with lighting.

Cheers!

Evening folks,  Flo, if you would please.....Beer..in a frosted mug.  Thanks dear.

Good to hear you survived TERRY, but that's what folks in Northern WI do, no matter the weather or the situation. I bet the wood stove was glowing.  We had solid rain down here.  I watched that "conveyor belt" of snow passing over you on the radar screen.

Nice looking pit, Mr. Beasley, I really like the stone work.

Our thoughts and prayers to you, your family and your Grandma,  BN # 24, GARY,  Grandparents seem to pass on all too quickly, as we get older.  They grew up in different times, and lived with every day situations a lot of people of today couldn't deal with.

Well, that tasted mighty fine Flo, here's something for the tip jar, and a good evening to everyone.

Mike.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a refill for my decaf please...

My sister treated me to dinner earlier tonight.  Of course she needed to have me fix the mouse on her laptop, change a bulb, and install a new toilet seat for her as well.....  I did forget to bring along the pile of forms she needs to hand out for her Summer Art classes she has at her house, which was one of the reasons we were going out to dinner.  Figured it would be good to get together and she needed to have me bring the letters to her.  She could drive down to my house and pick them up but it is much shorter for me to drive to her house and back than it is for her to drive to my house and back...  Yep!  She actually told me that once and she wasn't being funny either!

I am tired after a busy day, so I'm heading to get some ZzzZzzZzz  Hope I don't keep anyone awake....  Have a great night and prayers for all in need!

Thank you again, why the rest of the world won't learn this lesson from us is beyond me. if I were religious though I'd be part of the Ferro-Equinist group. Maybe I'm already part of that group.

I'm catholic by choice. The last time I set foot in a church was back in the 80's for my younger sisters wedding to hubby #1. She's now grooming #3. That long absence doesn't make me any less a believer. Come to think of it I have a wedding to attend in June. It'll be in my fathers back yard. And no, it's NOT mine.

Yes, it is an Atlas Turntable. now that you've mentioned it, I could probably bash the turntable into a prototype one I saw in my BN Diesel loco's book.

This is my "pit-bash" of an HO-scale Atlas turntable:

I did a photo-essay on the project, which our hosts have been kind enough to keep available:

http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/t/99558.aspx?PageIndex=1

It was a long and time-consuming job, but it ended up, as usual, teaching me new things.  It was built in 2007 and is still running just fine.

Evening All,

Just finished supper. I made chicken strips with FF's and peas.

Got my truck oil changed today and took Mom & Dad out to lunch. After getting home I put ground cover down on the layout in the part that was scrapped up for the new track.

Ulrich- Sorry I forgot to tell you congratulations and best wishes on your run for MP. If you get elected at least one of our countries will have someone looking out for their country and not themselves.

Gary- I will say prayers for your Grandmother. Thank you for your kind comment in WPF. Is that a Atlas TT? With a little paint and kit bashing I think it will look as good as anything on the market. In one of the other subject lines on the forum someone did a incredible job on their Atlas TT. Sorry I don't remember where it was.

Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

Agreed, Ray. I really hope I haven't offended anybody though.

Here's a project that's finally 'finished" for now. BN#724 with #'s in the Numberboard the little F behind the plow which finally got paint, Mu hoses front and back all I need to do is put the brake lines on, gotta get some super glue though.

Afternoon folks!

Janie, I'll have a tall glass of lemonade please...

The HVAC guy came over early afternoon with some recommendations for the AC I am putting in.  I decided to go with a unit that is 20fi more efficient than the original one he recommended.  Will cost me all of $360 omre and has better insides all around I guess...  At 4PM today the solar panels had already made 25+ Kwh of power so today has been another great day.  Got my Bill from NYSEG today and all I will be paying for electric for the month of April is the basic charges you have whether you use Electric or not which totals about $16.  The overage of power should be reflected on next months bill or will be held for when I once again use more electric than I produce.  Not exactly sure how it works yet as this is the first month I have produced more than I used (by about 15 Kwh).  AC should be put in sometime in the next couple of weeks as they have to find a day they can do it when they don't have a lot of emergency calls to do....

Jake, that scenario just happened in real life in Rochester a couple days ago!  Only this time there was no deaths.  A couple ended up in intensive care though.  Learn from it my friend!  We want you around here for a long, long time.

Gary, I have learned over the years that good people come in all sizes, shapes, and colors.  All ethnic groups, religions (including no religion), and all genders.  Just like bad people!  I take my beliefs on this from the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. when he said "..... but rather by the content of their character!"  I try to be a person of good character and you sound like you do too.  That said, I will keep you and your family (particularly your Grandmother) in my thoughts and prayers at this time.

Best get moving.  I am on my way to Canandaigua to have dinner at some restaurant with my sister.  She owes my dinner so I may get off the hook for my share of the bill...  It should be at her favorite Mexican restaurant.  I'm not really fond of the place, but...........  I have found something that is edible if I can convince them to get rid of the salsa.  I hate salsa!

Later!

Aloha!

Got a new Hawaiian CD by Keali'i Reichel. It is called Collection One Kamahiwa. Listening to my favorite chants from disc 2.

We have a nice cd/dvd/CDRW player that is surround sound..sounds great , like better than if they performed them as a hula at a luau.

It's kinda fun to sing along {chant} with the phrase: Ui,Ui, 'e'e'ina ka 'oneki o lalo walawala ka pumi ma hope  {oooh-ee, ooooh-ee, eh eh eeenah kah oh-neck-ay oh lah low valah valah kah poo-mi mah hope-ay}  FRom the chant/song No Ka Moku Kia Kahi Ke Aloha. {{you Can be rest assured Spell Check will NOT like that!!!}

Have an appointment next tuesday for my eyes, so I can FINALLY get new glasses..its been 3 years, when we had the money MOH needed new ones to see at work so I got the short end of tHe stick....maybe with them I can finally see what I am typing without my eyes glued to the screen...That and read the words on TV...for awhile it helped that we had a HD tv, but not now...

So I got all laundry done and dishes and visited with our train nut fiend...

so now dinner will be late As FIL wanted to "go shopping" to "See what there is"{to buy}...so MOH went over to stay with MIL.

So that is it for now

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
