thank you guys, I know she'll tough it out. on her birth certificate it says made in Germany, she's tough like a DB 2-10-0.
Burlington Northern #24 well gents, I found out something today. just moments ago it makes me feel sick, my oma has been fighting lung cancer for a while now and winning but they discovered brain cancer... I'm a little messed up right now so if I say or do something out of character my apologies. I'd pray for her but I'm atheist so the best I can do is try and spend as much time as I can get with her.

That doesn't meant the est of cannot pray for her... the power of prayer is amazing..it may not prevent the inevitable, but it can sure help to see that she is comfortable for her final journey...
I have lit a prayer candle in her honor...

ULRICH FOR BUNDESTAG MP!!!
Good Morning Gang!
It´ll be a nice day today, just the odd cloud to be seen in the sky, with temperatures reaching 17C. A tad too cold for May.
Zoe, coffee, buttered toast & jam, some fruit, please.
Garry - most of the leading people in our party have a background in economics and public finances. That´s why the politicians of our well established parties find it very difficult to argue with us - they are bound to lose. The only way they see to beat us is to call us names and dump trash over us. Each bad news story just adds to our membership list. Each day, we receive 200 applications for membership - most of them having been members of Frau Merkel´s party. Today´s Facebook and Twitter poll sees us at 7.1% - that´s way ahead of the Liberal Democrats, closing in on the Green party.
Vincent - MP stands for Member of Parliament, a rather British term for Congressman/-woman.
After a day of rest, I will have to get organized in my new office. There is a mountain of worl ahead of me and I have yet to find the route leading to the top of it.
Have a good one!
Howdy people, just thought I'd stop in for quick one in an icy mug please. Top off Cudaken's too. MMMMMMMM nice and cold! Keep the change dear!
Solid rain here this evening. Our neighbors in the NW part of WI have been getting snow, all day, started last night. Some places got over 16" and it's still coming. Yep ! spring in WI.
Milw. Brewers couldn't quite catch the Cardinals tonight, I had to stay up and see the finish. Rally ended up 1 run short.
Jeff, Great idea for the snow blower! I bet those good ol' boys could chuck a lot of tree limbs in that monster too, actually, just about anything! If it fits--it chips!
Cudaken, too bad your having fits with the P2K's I have a few, and the only problem so far was a GP 18 that needed the new gears on the axles.
Well, that went down good.....nope...no refill..gotta go !
Have a good one folks!

Work Front Hum, I was there and a few customers where there. Main thing is I got out at 8:15 so I cannot complain.
Train Front Maybe I need a new hobby! Shakey the PK 2000 GP 20 is dead. I Shakey, it no workie. It took off backwards one time after I shock it then it just sat there mocking me with it headlight on.
This year I have gotten 9 engines
3 New. PK2 Rio Grand SD 9, PK2 B&O and the Bachmann PRR GP 30. Only the Bachmann is working.
4 Used PK2 GP 20 (Shakey) PK2 B&O SD 7and 2 PK1 F 3's. Only 1 F 3 and 1 B&O still running.
2 Given To Me. PK 2 B&O SD 9 and Parts for my SD 7 Rio Grand. Both still working.
So out of 9 engines only 5 are still working? All of but 1 will run with some work, tinkering and gears. Only 1 needs a new motor so it could be worst.
See you all later.

Aaaaaahhhhhhhh....... Oh, Hi!
Janie a cup of decaf to help me relax would be great... Thank you Ma'am!
Busy day here in the Finger Lakes for me. Had a long meeting at the Handicapped Troop tonight as we were holding Boards of Review with the Scouts. Then had a short meeting with the two Commissioners and the Scoutmaster about a problem that cropped up for Summer Camp. The council has cut one of the Adults coming with the Troop to Summer Camp and the Scoutmaster is furious. The person that was cut is the Mother of the Downs Syndrome Scout. She needs to be with her son to help him function in the Camp. Both of us as Commissioners have promised we will get it sorted out and it will be resolved in favor of the Troop (OR ELSE!). Our District Executive is helping us get it resolved. Troops are only allowed a certain Scout to Adult Ratio as in the past there are troops who would try to send more adults than Scouts so the Adults could spend their vacations lounging around camp (and making trouble...).
Then I came home and had to get some information together and finish filling out the Press Release for the MLK Scholarship Dinner. The press release should have been in to the paper by last Monday, and has been held up as we were waiting for the Bio on the Keynote Speaker... I grumbled to a couple other officers today and the President said just get it done for us with what you have! I will hand deliver it to the Chief Copy editor tomorrow Morning with apologies (lucky I am friends with both her and her husband...).
Janie, could use a refill over here... Thanks!
Ulrich, enjoyed the photo today, and want to wish you all the best on your run for office. If you are elected, I know you will remember all those who like yourself fell on rough times and make sure there are safety nets for those in need! (I do agree with you that the Euro doesn't appear to be working as a currency...)
Think I shall head out for some . Good night all!

Been a busy day. I put together the rotary snow plow kit. That required quite a bit of cutting and fitting parts. It still needs a few pieces that will have to be made for it. What will the Sundown town council do with a rotary snow blower? They're going to add a bunch of small steel blades to the rotary wheel, enclose the front and add a dump tray and conveyor to the bottom of the enclosure so they can dump in paper by the truckload. A steel duct will channel the clippings into a semi trailer. That's right. They are making the biggest rotary PAPER SHREDDER ever seen in this part of the country. Leave it to a bunch of rednecks! My father and I went to dinner in town at the Los Mayos restaurant. He had enchiladas, beans and rice with sweet tea. I had two tacos, a beef enchilada and chili con queso with a Dr Pepper. Plenty of hot sauce.Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Good evening, Diners!
Ulrich .... I'm very happy for you regarding your new career as a politican. I assume your health situation is better and if so that is the best news from you. .... I'm interested in your post because you said the man with you is an economist. My background includes work in economics, and that is why I was interested. I would hope your party is one that realizes Europe's economic mess is primarily the result of misguilded government economic policies..... Best wishes to you.
Barry ...... I hope your medical appointments go well.
My Doodlebug upgrade thread had some good comments I thought.
Today on the layout, I am back to working on the track plan for my extension.

EVERYWHERE LOST; WE HUSTLE OUR CABOOSE FOR YOU
Evening guys.
Well the handrails for the BN and the ATSF SD40-2s showed up. Let's just say the front handrail is a pain in the caboose to put together. The reason, the front handrail for the large anticlimber isn't 1 piece like everything else. It's 5 pieces, the center section, the 2 stantions on the side of the anti-climber, and the 2 handrails that go up from the stairwell to the side stanchions. Let's just say that getting them together is a big PITA, the only thing that seems to hold them is CA.
Ulrich, good luck on the run. What's an MP? I know you don't mean Military Police, but I don't know if you are actually running for Prime Minister? (or whatever germany's leader is called?)
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Evening All,
Waiting on MOH to get home so we can eat (I made spaghetti). I was informed today from w**k that next Thursday when I go back to w**k I have 4 hours of water rescue training that morning. I vacuumed today and loaded the newest version of TomTom maps into my device in preparation to heading north.
Dennis- Thanks for the info. I have not been able to test it since it has been raining most the day.
I decided to work on the layout project since I have a lot of free time this week. I got the track work done but still need to landscape which I will do Monday. Tomorrow I am getting the oil changed in the truck and then taking my parents out to lunch.
Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

Afternoon folks!
Chloe, a nice tall glass of lemonade would hit the spot right now.
It done got warm here in the Finger Lakes this afternoon! Currently 77°F under bright and sunny skies. I did some banking at the Credit Union for the MLK Committee, mailed out the latest Division Newsletter to those who still live back in the early 20th. century in our membership, stopped at the hobby shop to deliver a counter copy to them, and walked down to the Bank where our 501c3 account is. They of course were closed having gone on the summer schedule.... Then I glided over to our local Lowes to get some hardware for the raised bed gardens I am building. Just came upstairs from watching the wheel spin by the inverter for the panels... Hee hee... 4PM here and they have curned out 25Kwh of power alrerady today. Still have 3 hours of usable power so today should easily break the record for the system.
Mail just came, so I'll be gone for a while.

Afternoon guys
Got that cursed ATSF SD40-2 figured out. I check voltage and it chacked out at 1.5V for the function. But then it burnt out another bulb. Re-checked, 1.5V. I turned the function on and off repeatedly. still 1.5V. I tipped the loco to see if there was something with it if it lost power. BINGO, when it regains power, the voltage jumps to 2.4V. So I just stuck some burned out bulbs in the rear and used the rear light to control the beacon. I rarely have locos that have working rear lights, because I can use it for a beacon or a something and usually group them into bunches. Also saves money since I don't have to buy a multi-function decoder and canj ust use the DH123 which I found that still works fine. I still need bulbs to finish my BN SD40-2.
I also started working on a scrach-built wooden trestle. I used some 1/4" x1/4" square dowel for the stringers and the caps. But of course I started BEFORE I looked at a pic. Turns out I made the caps too narrow. Real ones seem to go out further than the stingers, not flush with the sides of them. I was about to get some 1/4 round dowel for piers, but it looks like I could go either round or square. That should save me a little bit of money since I have a bunch of 1/4" square. I need to get some stuff for cross bracing, and probably a couple of longer pieces of 1/4" square to redo the stringers as I nailed to the risers with track nails.
Jeff, Rotary plow huh? What would it....*smacks self* Oh, yeah. I have one. I'm waiting for athearn to re-do the BN ones in brown with the F-B unit as the power unit. I'm still trying to sell mine (with working blades and DCC). Figure it'd cost me less (with time, paint, and decals) to just sell mine and buy the new one.
chochowillieI love it!!!!!!!! Just knew I was going to get a reaction out of that..... Couldn't resist tugging your chain there Jeff. Besides what with all the so called climate change, you may need it down your way.
Another bright sunny spring day and currently 68 degress in the Old Dominion State. (question asked... now answered) Many U.S. States have nick names. Virginia is the "Old Dominion State" as it was the first English Dominion established in the new world. (1608) It included parts of what would become 4 other states later on. In the old southern civil war song, "the Bonnie Blue Flag" Virginia is referred to as the Old Dominion state as she joined the Confederacy.
Canada was another British Dominion established later. Ya' had ta' be big to be declared a Dominion.
Gettin' on towards lunch time here. Think I'll check out for chow....Missed breakfast.

Well, better go gather some more leaves and stuff up in the front yard and chase the lawn mower around some more. Then I can fertalize it to make it grow faster.

class got canceled today, not gonna lie I'm a little disappointed. lets see I have work later, then class, theny picking up my very tiny paycheck tomorrow, then spending it strengthening my wobbly layout and doing more measurements.
French roast coffee in a BURLINGTON NORTHERN mug, please.
Lawnmowers: Thanks to that ethanol $#!^, my lawnmower once again needs work done. Having the little John Deere 855 fixed up instead so will bushhog the front yard and orchard and forget about the bumpy little Cub Cadet that has been nothing but trouble. Won't look as good but diesel tractors always start right up.
Have a good day all.
Cheers! Rob
Mornin' everybody, wherever you are....???
Zoe, I'll have a Butter Rum Muffin with real butter and lots of dark roast coffee in an R&GV RR mug please.
Todd, yep, today looks to be a record breaker for the system. So far nice and bright outside, and the weather (or not) people say the whole day should be exactly the same! Gotta go down stairs top the basement and watch that little wheel spin around and around for a while.
Actually I have a long list of items that have to be done today so time will be short. The hotel I stayed at for the convention last weekend has put 3 different charges on the CC list, sent me a completely different final bill (email) and today the first charge was paid and that was completely different from any of them.... I figure the difference between the charge and the bill they sent me was due to the exchange rate (slightly less as it should be). I'll wait a day or so and make sure it is the only transaction that goes through.
Best get moving and open up a few windows here. Getting warm in the house!
MisterBeasleyDennis, I thank you for that bit of knowledge about gas grills
You are very welcome. Just turn all the burners off plus the tank valve. Now just slowly turn the tank valve back on.

Ulrich, looking good there guy!
Got to run.
Good Morning!!!
Coffee and the fruit plate please, thanks.
Whew! Place was busy yesterday. Hope there’s some food left ya chowhounds.
Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 71. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Looks like rain thru Tuesday next week. Gonna make for a cruddy all town garage sale weekend. Won’t bother me none cause all I’ll be doing is hauling junk to the all town cleanup site.
Well well, LAWNMOWERS ALL AROUND!! Ken gets his repaired to almost new, G gets a new one and so did I.
Jeffrey- I should have said. I have never seen you not respond to an inquiry if you see it.
Ok Alexander. It sounded like it might be later in the month. Birthday that is.
Vincent- Looks like a rat snake to me. Like Jeff said, the Shovelnose, or Hognose, is a mimic snake and as harmless as most, but creates quite the stir if not paying lot of attention. If cornered they will play dead.
I find all snakes to be potentially deadly because if I’m not careful, I can crack my head on something trying to get away as fast as I can. Me and snakes only get along at great distances.
Mike- I had Norton many years ago. I did not like it as it pretty much took over my computer and I was too stupid to be able to get it to let things through. Mainly pictures or attachments on e-mail drove me nuts. (used it more then.) I don’t do much on a computer so my issues are very small, but I can only think if I ran into “you can’t do this” issues with Norton, others that use it more, would run into more. Just my opinion. Oh and by the way, as we all found out, there is a learning curve on this site. It’ll take you a bit to figure the thing out. In the meantime, we just sit back and chuckle at the whoopsies from the newer guys….(ahem)and a few of us older timers as well. We've all been there.
Ulrich- Congratulations! And…. I like your shirt.
Ok, I’ve been opening and closing this door for like five minutes and have yet to get to my hou….Ken, you need to mow your yard…., house. How do you….Oh Ray, you should make some power today…..get to where you’re……Hm…not as hot downunder as I thought it’d be….going?! Oh there we are. Crud, still lot’s of yardw*rk to do.
Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

Good morning. It's 63° with 100% humidity. It'll be cloudy with a fair chance of rain. The high will be 75°.I have no particular plans for today though the work area on the layout needs some tidying up. I haven't yet sorted out all the stuff that I received yesterday. One of the boxes I looked in contains a rotary snow plow kit. Looking at it I wondered if maniacal laughter was echoing off the walls as it was added to the box. I'm in west Louisiana and the scenery on my layout is set in the same type area. What am I going to do with a snow plow? Could be some oddity for the local redneck brain trust to look at and ask 'What the heck is that thar thing?'. Maybe it could be labelled as a giant mobile steam powered snow cone maker. Though I'd hate to see the block of ice you'd need for that baby! And not to mention the catch cup! Step right up folks! One good spin of the blades with a suitable block of ice serves 2,500! I wonder how many I caught sipping their coffee right at that moment.Time to get on with my day.
