Good Morning All:
If the frost was any heavier you would think it was snow.
Jim, yea too bad I don’t get a choice in health care I get Tricare or nothing. When you join the military and you’re told you’ll get this, this, and this when you retire you don’t expect them to drastically change their mind? The government is considering doing away with military retirements, each member will have to start a savings account with the government, and whatever you put in is what you’ll get out.
Todd we got all the appliances for the base for free on loan, all we had to do is have one of our guy’s record the information from the meters Whirlpool had attached to the machines. When they installed the dishwasher/sanitizer in the galley the guy from the plant came over with a 7 layer sheet cake and a special flat dish rack to hold the cake and the cooking sheet it was on. The cake went in the machine frosting and all and the only thing that came out was the pan. I don’t think we broke anything they loaned us.
Ken that might not be a bad trade off, double the miles to work but better pay check; I work 11 miles from home; 10 minute walk to the truck, 10 minutes on the freeway and 10 minutes on local streets to get home. If I avoid the freeway it’s a 1.5 hour drive home…
Yes I’m behind on posts again. I patched the siding on the garage yesterday but it looks like the metal trim around the garage roof will need to be replaced next spring. Evidently “Sandy” threw something against the garage and really messed it up.

Good morning, Diners. I finished by weekend wreath party. Nine ladies came on Friday, and 9 came yesterday. My niece and her boyfriend stayed until about 9:00. Now I can make some for us.
Today I think I will work on my car shop. I have the materials now, so the roof is next.
Later, Sue
Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.
Hello Dinners
Flo, Coffee to go pleases
Yep, that time again. Yesterday really kicked my butt, 10 hour day on your feet at my age is tuff.
Short day today, only 8 hours.
Later, Ken

Welcome Darryl. Vinnie's not the one you have to watch out for. He'll just toss you out.

Good morning. It's 45° with 82% humidity. It'll be mostly sunny with a high of 68°.My plan for today is to clean up the layout. I'd like to clean it all up but I'll be happy if I get just part of it cleared. The hardest part is deciding what to keep and what to toss. So many things can be useful in future projects. Even a broken truck sideframe. That could someday be used outside an engine house.

Good Afternoon Gang!
A gray and drab day, rather dull. Got up late - 8 am and kind of hung around till noon. Started to do some w*rk on that house front - today was cutting day. Cutting the foam board went surprisingly well, but cutting the window openings was a little tricky. It pays off to have some fresh blades handy for the knife! Cutting the 2 mm cardboard was something else, but somehow I managed without cutting myself. Petra had the first aid kit ready, but did not need it. Boy, am I proud of myself!
Here is today´s result:
Thgere is still a lot to do. Once I am finished putting all the stucco applications on to the front, there will be a good filing and cleaning job waitig for me. The whole will get a coat of primer to protect the cardboad from moisture. The most difficult job will be applying that stucco paste in a thin layer - y´know, the stuff I bought last Friday at the train show.
Have a good one!
Looking good Ulrich!
Happy birthday Audrey!
Barry: I just saw the dog catcher! He's looking for the whateveritwas that showed up with your coffee cup.
Jeff - I still wonder, how Barry got a picture from me in the morning!
Sir MadogJeff - I still wonder, how Barry got a picture from me in the morning!
to Audrey lots of and for her!!!
I, too, look and feel like that in the morning..
I may sound cheerful here, but I may not have just gotten up when I come here, OR I just don't show my grumpiness here.
Neither MOH Nor I are very : good looking, talkative, alive, aware or anything first thing inthe morning. MOH is that way until coffee sets in, I don't always have coffee, but...we don't talk for about a 1/2 hr or full hour in the mornign...!!!
DO you believe the not-so-local-local radio station has been playing Christmas music for a week now? I say "not-so-local-local radio station" because MOST radio stations here are "piped in" on sattelite to the local airwaves like nationl tv news is.
It will be maddnes On TG day and after...TG I Have NO need for anything and couldn't afford it if I could. I worked out Dec.'s budget and found that with it being a 4 pay week month and our health insurance costs going up 75% we are broke, broke broke for the month. MOH WAS hoping that we could go to the January Train SHow in MA, but I nixed that idea as we just simply have no money for it. Maybe 2014....we can go..
well, I actually have only a few dishes to do , all the laundry is actually DONE for once, and I need to runthe vcuum. that is at least a 3 hour tiring proposition for me.
Well, off i go as MOh has to go to work soon and I wnat to spend time with MOH before then.
Have a great day!
EDIT: top AGAIN, Three pages in a row???? really??? DAisy, Daisy, give me your answer, do, uh, ahem, how much is my tab for this page? Put it on my American Distressed card...

Welcome Darryl.
Hey guys, I almost got run down by this green thing! A couple of dog catchers and an on the spot reporter were right behind it:
Ok, who has NOT seen the new Photobucket site? I went to my PB this morning and BINGO! There is was! It took me 10 minutes to hunt down the link for a pic I wanted to post. Why can they not be on the page with the pic thumbnails the way thney were?
Happy birthday Audrey.
There is not much to report in the happenings in my world. The road out here has been paved. No more rock cut tires. I had to get a new LNB for my satellite dish. Until it was replaced my personal pc was offline. No such luck with my business pc. Dad set it up on some high speed cable connection that makes a cheetah look like a snail. I am not allowed to use that computer for personal use, so no forums. Being online looking at pay vouchers, payroll records, invoices and the such can be a colossal bore. hey, it pays the bills. My college courses are going great!
David Parks I am the terror that flaps in the night!
Ah.............. Hmmmm.... looks at watch........
Afternoon folks!
Chloe, is the buffet still open? It is? Good I have that and a cup more of the dark roast coffee please.
Barry, if the hair was gray instead of green, you would have a pretty accurate photo of me first thing in the morning...
Happy Birthday to Audrey!
John, glad to hear the better half is coming home from the hospital! Be nice and wait on her for a change.....
This afternoon I have to figure out how to transport a 30' sailboat mast in the back of my truck with the 6' bed...... Could get interesting. I definitely know it won't fit in the Yaris!
We had a congregational meeting after church to do some business... The last item was to formally break our call with our minister for retirement purposes. He had to wave us to sit down and stop applauding him. We have been "well Blessed" for the last 30+ years to have him be our spiritual leader (In the Presbyterian Church they are called "Teaching Elder"). As always he had a very thoughtful and sincere sermon this morning rooted in the faith.
Need to get moving as I have much to do gthis afternoon.

Afternoon All,
Been a pretty lazy day today. I finished putting together the train phone and CA'd it together. I then tried out my new rattle can of Tuscan Red from Scalecoat. The can sprays well but it sprays almost too much paint...it really comes out. Any way, it will dry overnight and then I will spray it with a flat finish, after that I will weather it and it will be complete. Photo bucket is still not working.
Happy Birthday to Audrey.
Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

Good Afternoon.
I'm not sure what that image was of...Audrey claims that that was me this morning trying to serve her breakfast!!!
This afternoon we went out to our local diner and splurged on some ice cream and pie....then went shopping/viewing at Wally World.....
Now, to get cracking on setting up couple of trees in here.....
Afternoon guys
I tried doing some finish sanding to those Fs I primed last night. The ones that had the Krylon primer won't sand. The krylon just gums up the sandpaper like it's still not cured, even after 24 hours. I'll give it some more time, but I think I'm going to have to strip the krylon off...
Audrey, Happy B-day
Ken, check PMs

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
My newest rebuild. HO Scale of course. A 70's era Mantua SP F7 shell on a rebuilt Athearn blue box frame with the blue box spline shaft drive and a pair of rebuilt Stewart AAR trucks. Why AAR? They were there and I felt like it. The gear tower of the front truck was cracked and had to be glued back together with JB Weld. I spent part of yesterday installing a LED headlight.
Hey Diners!!!Have one one me!!! (make believe I got top!)
Jeffrey, Looks awesome!!! Great Scheme, in the soon to be patched "L&A" I reckon?Love those AAR 'B' trucks!!!
Later,
Evening All,
Surprise, surprise. My photobucket is now working. I quickly changed it back to the original version. Here is what I have been working on:
Looking great Curt!
Thanks Jeff. I still seem to make the hand rail holes to big. I have yet to be able to get those right. Oh well, you can only do what you can do.
Galaxy- You have tied PC and me by having three in a row TOP posts.
That coffee creature was sent to me back in 2004. It came from the Netherlands and I can't remember his name. YES- Just found his name- LUPO.
Had a great time having coffee with CURT. Along with his modeling skills he is a gentleman. Never have I talked so doggone much. I think I bent BOTH his ears. While waiting at the lhs, I watched and listened to what was going on with Curts DCC locos. So glad I'm not into DCC.Yeah, it adds a lot to the running of the trains WHEN IT WORKS!!!. Frustrating piece of electronics. K. I.S.S. is my motto.
Welcome to all the newbies. Prayers and Blessings to all. FLIP
Afternoon, Flo - I'll have a RBF for now, and take a look at the specials today. Thank you!
Yeah, Jeff, if that F-unit is that old, it sure is looking great!
Ah, Ray, I see - they want the volunteer hours to not only be about RR'ing, but also related to NMRA. Well, I'm sure you didn't have too much trouble logging enough hours, even with that!
Karl, sounds like that play (and those 'overactors') probably had the audience in stiches (well, laughing...).
Barry, best wishes on whipping the house into shape in four days (more or less...).
I posted some photos (one older I posted in here, plus two of my progress this weekend) in WPF of the Frenchman River (Hamlet) Bank kit. The instructions say that the original bank was robbed in the 1920's, and the farmers in their Model T's chased after the robber until they caught him and got their money back. (Guess it shows not to mess with Plains states farmers!). As I said in my previous post, I still have the awning and the sidewalk sections to add, but I haven't decided whether I'll use the outhouse (one-piece resin casting also) with the bank, or elsewhere.
Here's one photo of the bank:
Barry, I hope you and Audrey have a great dinner (is she treating, or are you? ) And hey - who's your furry friend there who came in with you this morning?
Lee, I hear you about catching up on posts when we've been out for a few days (or longer...).
Take good care of your wife now that she's coming home, John(Reid).
Sue - were you helping teach your guests how to make wreaths, or was somebody else doing that at your party?
David (Parks), you have your hands full, between college and your job. How're classes going so far? Good to see you able to get into the Diner again.
Curt, glad to see you found the switch back to the old Photobucket. Great detailing there!
Flo, I think I'll have the open face beef sandwich special please, and a Dr. Pepper. Thanks!
Time to get down to it for me...
Blessings and prayers,
Jim in Cape G.
Howdy ....
We will have company for both Thanksgiving and for Christmas this year. That means this weekend we put up our Christmaas tree and other Christmas decorations. ...... Also, I am pleased to report the Lionel trains are under the tree! ..... We do not always decorate for Christmas because we tend to be out of town visiting family members. .... I can not recall the last time we were home for both of the big holidays.
Galaxy .... I forgot the punch line for the joke. Can you repeat it. Perhaps I can remember next time.
Darryl ...... A big welcome to the diner for you. ... I see Galaxy provided the list of rules. That said, we do have fun here. We razz each other and pull each others legs and stuff like that. Ask Barry Blownout Cylinder about pie throwing contests. ..... Feel free to tell us about your interest in this hobby. Yes, it's good to releave stress with it..... Exception might include tedious stuff like replacing a knuckle spring in a Kadee coupler. ......... Zing! Where did that spring fly off too? .... I'm in KY and do travel to Cincinnati from time to time.
Todd .... Speaking of razzing people, I was doing that with you about the content of your posts. Hope you saw the humor.
Barry .... I big Happy Birthday to Audrey! I bet you ate all the cake and have none to share with the Diners.
JimCG ... I'm not familiar with the maker of the building. I think you will have a very nice model with it.
Ulrich .... Your work on the building is very impressive. How will you make stucco?
Ken .... I hope the new work location is a good change for you.
Jeff .... I pray your Mom is improving. Please keep us informed. .... Glad Sundown Shops is still productive.
Curt .... Nice job detailing your Pennsy loco!
Vincent ... I think your F-units will be great models with all teh work you are doing on them.

Morning all
Had an extremely stormy two days over the weekend here in Brisbane, Saturday we had a supercell come through at 10AM dumping 45mm of rain in 15 minutes causing this:
Around 8pm we had another supercell storm come through this time more severe wind and lightning wise. We had a lightning strike within 100 yards of home, it knocked out the cable internet and subscription TV which is on cable as well.
The next morning we had a smaller severe storm come through around 8AM with ANOTHER lightning bolt within 100 yards, this one actually hit a house that a colleague of my sister lives in. It blew a hole in the roof and the washer machine out of its space in the laundry across the other side and also cracked the concrete below. All her appliances are damaged and her switchboard melted. She made the local news.
Around 3pm it was noted on weather radar about 80-100km to the south west another supercell was building. It gained intensity very quickly and by the time it hit the south west suburbs of Brisbane it had golf ball to tennis ball sized hail and several microbursts were occurring. Winds also were recorded at 112km/h (about 65mph)
I ducked over the bridge to the bayside area of Redcliffe to watch it roll out over the bay.
Here is what it looked like:
In the space of minutes it went from daylight (about 6pm we still have an hour of daylight) to pitch black darkness.
Should be an exciting summer for storms, these are the best for years.

Flo, please
Flo, where do I put the for Audrey? OK thanks Flo. Audrey!
Darryl Any pictures you have of Bragg expect L Z's (I know what Pine Trees and Red Clay looks like ) would be great! Some of the item's I would like to see would be the JFK center, Pope AFB (now Pope Army Airfield) the Old Post Movie Theater (my barracks was right across the street) and Cos Com. While they where renovating my old WW II barracks across from the theater, I stayed in WW I barracks in Cos Com. Looked like something out of a Old John Wayne movie, looks like the Duke should be walking any at anytime.
Pope AFB and the JFK center had the best chow and I ate at both a lot. I was an Military Police and ate where I pretty much wanted. OH, pictures of the main post parade (spell check) field and the cannon! But don't tell anyone one about the time my patrol partner and I found a dead cat, stuffed it in the 42 MM cannon and blew it across the parade field and through a Full Bird's window during Reveille. Luckily no one was at home! Sure seemed like a good idea at the time! Cat flew a good 1200 feet, we just thought it would vaporizes? What can I say, we where young and dumb.
Gary So far I like the store except the drive. While the drive time it self is close to the same with it all being interstate it is twice as far. Shop is busy, so the time past faster. Customer base income is lower, so so far there been no increases in income.Biggest Plus So Far? Counter Tops are a lot taller, helps with my typing a lot, I am back up to slow!
See you all later.
