Lee - I was expecting the answer to my application today, but it didn´t come. Is this good or bad?

Yeah, O gauge or G gauge prices are outrageous. In Germany, O gauge is just being resurrected, but at prices easily topping the 1,000 $ mark for RTR locos. In the UK, there are many kitchen counter businesses offering kits at still affordable prices, unless you want to go for a Pacific or bigger. A kit for a little tank engine is in the $ 200 range, kits for those typical 4-wheeled cars are about $ 40 - 50. Compared to the prices for HO RTR or even N RTR stuff, that´s still reasonable.

 Afternoon Dinners

 Flo, Diet Dew Pleases.

Well Rob, looks like I am in the same boat you where about 6 months or so ago. I have lost one of the channels in my Stereo. Sigh At this point I don't know if it is the speaker, speaker selector(separate unit) Power amp, or the preamp.

Hum, just pooped in a CD (mainly use the computer) and now both channels are working? I messed with it yesterday for 20 minutes and could not get the left channel going? Well I will take the break!

Time to get ready for work.

Ray, the Hojack Bridge is coming down.  Starting to remove asbestos next week, then in October the blue tip wrench will be on the bridge.

Afternoon tea ...

WEll, well,

I had another dizzy lightheaded spell. I think I have narrowed it down to a sugar problem. I hope. I was dizzy and lightheaded and my vision getting "cloudy", then realized I was "hungry", though I ate about 3 hours before. I ate a Tuna melt and feel mcuh better. I think I will make an appointment with hte Dr. this week to do a starving blood workup. Being at the edge of diabetes can be almost as bad as having it, cuase you can register as "fine" when you are clearly not.

SInce I haven't been feeling "safe" so there is no lit prayer candle {MOH is napping now..we never leave a candle burning then}, but I have said prayers for those in need...Angel sounds like we have quite a few..I will nod to all in need, rather than name them off one by one. Not sure I could right now anyway. Still a litle "fuzzy".

ALso getting a migraine. TOok my migraine script after I ate so it is working at alleviating the pain.It can also make me very tired and woozy-ish..feeling like i have "airplane head" but wiht no pain.

The weather has cooled off here compared to the heat we did have. apparently it is nice out. MOH will have to go get teh mail..as I don't know if Itrust myself to walk to the mailbox. I might get dizzy on the way.

Hope everyone's day is going along smoothly and nicely!

My you all have a great evening.

I will cheat on dinner tonight..Hamburger Helper it is. Easy quick but filling and does the trick.

Afternoon folks!

Chloe I'll have a tall glass of ice cold Lemonade please.

LSWrr

Ray, the Hojack Bridge is coming down.  Starting to remove asbestos next week, then in October the blue tip wrench will be on the bridge.

Lee, Yep... 'tis sad, but better to remove it before it falls on something I guess.  The time to try to preserve it was 20 or more years ago.  I'm sure there will be lots and lots about it in the local (Rochester) news.

Ken, it's probably from all that "pooping" in the CD.........  You need to clean it! Whistling  Actually my guess would be a broken connection in the wire leading to that speaker.  Bad solder?  Bad wire in the cable?  Next time it does it try wiggling the wire going to the bad speaker.  If you can, remove the cable going to the speaker and visually inspect the solder joints to the connecting plugs.  Also try switching the wires  (left speaker and Right Speaker) at the amp while it is playing.  If the bad speaker now works, it is probably in the wiring.  I once spent 45 minutes before a show outside trying to figure out why one speaker wasn't working.  System was a large tri-amped JBL Pro system.  The midrange cabinet on the left wasn't working!!!  I finally went over and looked closely at the speaker.....  The Speakon connecter from the cable to the speaker was just laying on the ground.  My "cheap" help (It was at an OA conclave at Boy Scout Camp) never plugged it in!  My blood pressure came back down in about an hour.........

Very nice day outside here in the Finger Lakes.  All of 74°F right now.  Got half the lawn mowed and then took a lunch break.  Did a bit more on the cobblestone mold this afternoon.

Catch you all later!

Well I've got both of my 'new' Mantua gondolas (NYC, Monon) in my train. They look good and track extremely well. I had to fit the monon gondola with Kadee #5's first. I still have to do some work on the two hoppers. The Bachmann hopper has horn hook couplers that are truck mounted. That's going to have to change. The little Virginian hopper squeaks terribly. Could be an axle or two binding.

Evenin' Folks!

Janie, a cup of decaf would do nicely right at the moment.

Nice cool night around here....  Currently 61°F and on it's way down to 58° overnight.  The air conditioners are turned off for the night.  I finished the lawn this evening  and did a bit more to remove the old RR Ties out back.  A couple of them are still heavy and very solid even after 50 or more years of use....  They have been sitting at the edge of the garden here for almost 30 years and were used old ties when I got them for a little of nothing.  I have no further use for them so i will find out if they can be sent to the county landfill......  A couple of them will probably come out in pieces as they are not in as good shape.

Barry, sounds like you had a good meal.  My prayers going out to you for good news at the hospital tomorrow.

As I was finishing up the lawn tonight a couple who lives up the side street from me who I see out walking a couple times a day, happened along just as I got the edge of the street with the mower.  They stopped, and the husband asked me about the whistle post sign in the driveway.  I told him the story of how I got it, and he says,  "So you are into trains?".  The conversation got really started then.  It turns out they have been planning to go out to the R&GV RR Museum for one of our days we run diesels.  Seems both he and his wife are railfans.  Hopefully they will be coming out for Diesel Days in a couple of weeks.  I gave them the Museum's business card with all the contact information on it.

I have to go out to the museum and spend part of a day in heavy toil as my punishment for obsconding with all the keys last Sunday!  I got home and soon after eating dinner I sat down here at the computer and discovered I still had the huge set of keys ion my pocket.  I immediately sent a "Mea Culpa" email to the Vice president and the superintendent of operations telling them I was the culprit.  I said I could come out with them on Tuesday and the VP said, "No Problem, see you Tuesday"!  I have been wanting to contribute some time to a couple of the projects anyway and Tuesday is one of our two major weekly work sessions.

Think I will turn in for the night.  Keep track of Ken.  He seems to be doing some strange things, like pooping in CDs and stuff........

Prayers for all who are need.  Have a safe and sound night!

Time for me to call it a night. I've been in layout work up to my eyes today. I also had a doc appointment to contend with. The doc says I'm in great shape for all the physical problems I have. my heart is good, blood pressure is more or less normal, cholesterol is under 90. That's great. Just everything else is outta whack. See y'all tomorrow.

 Evening Dinners

Flo, I will have a bottle of Poop. Whistling

OK Ray I cannot spell! Far as what caused the problem, more than likely because I am a smoker. Gunk is building up at the jumpers (gold plated) and in the equipment. Computer sound board preamp is not very powerful. My CD player on the other hand has a little more power. So maybe it help get past the crude. I need to quite smoking and get the equipment cleaned.

Jeffery Me Like Monon! Want to do some trading? Big Smile

Well work was very boring so nothing much to say.

 Later, Ken

Lunchtime!

Chloe, I´ll go for a tuna fish pizza and an RBF, please.

Spent all morning at the Renault garage, waiting for the technical inspection of our car. Our car is over 11 years old, so passing that inspection and getting the approval to roam the roads for another  two years is like winning the state lottery - the chances are slim. Good news - it passed! Bad news - another $ 130 off the MRRing budget Crying And more to come. Latest in Fall, I will need to buy a complete set of tires. The winter tires are worn, and the summer tires will have to go by October, or earlier, should I drive more than I did in the past months. I might get  a set of all-weather tires - can´t afford to buy two sets.

I am going to take a nap now - did not catch much sleep last night.

Where´s Galaxy?

Have a great day!

Good Morning!!!

Coffee, two eggs over medium, maple bacon, hash browns and a side of biscuits and gravy please. Thank you.

Sunny and hot, with a high near 97.

Jeff, Lee, Ray………ANYbody!!!!! Please do something. Start a project. Something. Murphy has nothing else to do but hang around! I’ll spare the details, but let’s say the Church’s bookwork to waaaay longer than it normally does and then, well I didn’t get home til almost 2pm, so late start on floor and then......, well Please. I’m begging. Do something.

Paul- No problem about the not asking the rules. Most of us didn’t ask either. We peeked in the window for a while and kinda figured it out or someone else asked while we were peeking or not long after we showed up. As you can see, not much to them as all we really do different than any forum rule, is we are allowed to talk “off topic” Kinda like a break room at a Model Railroad club. We are not biased to anyones modeling preference or their skill level regardless of how long they have been modeling. In fact, this is one place where the term “Rivet Counter” is not a bad name simply a style of modeler who is interested in creating miniature “models” as accurate as possible. Hey I am in awe of the detail and skill and absolutely love to drool over their work, but not what I do. We even have named the counter here in the diner “The Rivet Counter” where you sit and contemplate or talk about detail and/or prototypical oriented work. Originally the thread was created to help keep the other forum threads cleaned up from the inevitable chit chat that some did due to friendships made on the site. Kalmbach allows this, I assume, because that is one thing Model Railroading does is bring people together to create friendships with a common interest in MR’ing. So to help foster that aspect…., chinnngggg. Here we are and they allow us to exist so long as we behave and do what they ask, which really isn’t much, and we do.

You know, I need to find my old Diner intro that used to be posted periodically and post it again to kinda keep the story/history of the place alive and help the newer folks find their way around the place a bit better. I recall I was gonna edit the thing to include the RC. Hmmmm. Wonder if I did.

Well this is my busy day I suppose you’d say. In between jobs, I need to clean up all the mess of stuff I no longer need in the bathroom and adjoining bedroom because it’s grouting time after I reset the terlit. We’ll see how that all goes. Confused

Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

{grumble]

Good morning!!!

I may need hte thoughts and prayers!

Still not feeling well..will make an appointment wiht the DR. today.

Still get dizzy spells and awkward lightheadedness. I will ask a starving appointment so they can check my sugar then. I expect it will come out normal though it usually does.

My sinuses have been plugged lately, so that may have someting to do wiith it or inner ear problem.

Sometiems I can barely type antyhgin as I draw blank, or can't make words out of the keys {yes worse than I regularly do}. That part is scarry. I wait till I can try try again.

Still have leftover headache remnants too.

Special thoughts and prayers are requested for my MIL...MOH says she is nto doing so hot she is 85..MOH thinks we will loose her soon...she gets disoriented very quickly and forgets everything rihgt afterit happens. SHe was totally incoherant to FIL the other day SO MOH had to go and get her re-oriented.

Well, That is all I can mange to type for now.

hmm..dizzy again

Good Morning All,

Ray, I’m surprised it wasn’t all over the pages of the papers when I released the radio broadcast.  I know parts of the bridge will be on display for everyone to enjoy, where I haven’t heard.  I know two different organizations have requested elements of the control booth interior and a couple appurtenances from the exterior.

Todd, Well I think I have everything under control to get back to the 4x8 project in the garage.  I have the table top built; tonight I should build the legs and hopefully start painting.  I have half a case of flex track, dozen or so turnouts and a full case of cork roadbed.  I also have a couple of buildings that need to be assembled.

Good morning. It's 76° and the humidity is 91%. There's a fair chance of rain with the possibility of some heavy showers. The high will be 95° and it'll be mostly cloudy. The heat index will make it feel like 109°.

Only projects today will be getting a Bachmann hopper ready for body mounted Kadee's and finding out what's making a squeak on a Varney hopper.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a short stack of blueberry pancakes, real maple syrup, a side order of bacon, and a few cups of dark roast coffee in my R&GV RR mug, please and thank you Ma'am!

Ken, I hope you know I'm just playing with you...  We all make typos.  THAT one was priceless and I just had to say something. Smile, Wink & Grin  If your stereo problems are from you smoking, I sure hope you have/will give it up.  I know it is hard, but there are just so many good reasons (like staying among the living) to quit!  I know you were trying a while back with the foot problem!

Lee, it probably has been in the Rochester papers, but I don't get them.  Haven't seen much in the Finger Lakes Crimes lately about it.  Nothing on YNN  (Time Warner News channel for Rochester).  The're way too busy telling us who shot whom on what street last night, how many police officers it took to kill the neighborhood pit bull that it's druggie owner lets loose, and interviewing all the least intelligent people they can from the area........  Oh, Thursday's pre-opener game of the Bills will be blacked out locally.....  Since I don't watch the idiot box here, I have no idea how much time has been given to the bridge coming down on the tube either.  If there is a huge protest when they start working on it, I'm sure it will make all the channels!!!  They will be interviewing some mental midget who is complaining about the noise........ Whistling  The News just ain't what it used to be, and never was!

Ulrich, 574KPH!!!? Cool  Sure beats Amtrack over here! Whistling  So, you want to pilot one of those?

Darren, nice video!

Starting to get warm in here.... Time to turn on the air conditioners.

Later!

Ken: Continuing smoking will only make your foot problems worse. The toe is only the tip of the iceberg. One of the effects of smoking causes the blood vessels to constrict.

I make typos also but I've always been great at spelling and I use a spell checker to catch the occasional error. There are times though that I ignore the spell checker or I'm not feeling good that I don't want to take the time to correct any errors.

 Morning Folks

 Flo Coffee Pleases.

Will I am sleeping late again all ready. Did not get up till 8:30.

Todd, what time did you go to bed last night? Reason I asked is Murphy seem to show up here last night.  Was running my passenger train and 1 of the cars kept falling over on the same turn again and again. It is one of my bigger turns but yet would track just fine around the tighter turn I have.

Ulrich Hope you get to go to the engineer school! That is something I daydream about. Not so much as getting to be around trains, but have a secure job.

 See you all later.

  Morning All,

Expected high today 100, probably only hit 99.

Well it is Tuesday so that means another closing shift for me. Will not get home until after 11;00

Not much work getting done on my layout, but still having fun listening to the Tsunami.

Ken, I quit smoking over 7 years ago. It was easy after a minor heart attack and double by-pass surgery. And you know what I feel waaaay better. It took the emergency surgery to repair a perforated bowel and a diagnosis of Lymphoma to get my wife to quit. I hope. She has not been feeling well for a few months so had not been smoking, now that we have this news and waiting for more results to see how bad it is, I think she has quit for good. We go to hospital tomorrow for a pre registration and lab work for an out-patient procedure on Friday.

I am big into it as I once lived on an island where everything had to be recycled not put into a ladfill. That wsa in thelate 80s. They reduced 80% of what went to teh landfill here when they startted the recycle program about 15 years ago. Now of course, even so, the landfil is about at capacity.

Now if I can make it to the kitchen I wil be ok I think.

Funny thing is I get dizzy when sitting too, not jsut standing or rising ior walking.

dinner will be what was suposed to be last nights dinner.

The dizziness comes and goes. As does the lightheadedness. Maybe they are the same thing?
