Evenin' folks!
Janie a tall glass of ice cold lemonade would really hit the spot right now. Thank you Ma'am!
Went to the Pageant of Steam this afternoon with my son and his girls. Made sure to pack the camera so i would get lots of good shots to share..... My son had to clean out the junk on the front seat of his car to make room for, so I put the camera bag in the trunk of his car as there wasn't much room in the front or where the girls were in the back seat. As I put the bag in there I told him to be sure to remind me to grab the camera when we got there....... Yep, your right, camera stayed right in the trunk of the car. i remembered when we got all the way to the other end of the 100 acre property! The Pageant has quadrupled in size since the last time I was there probably a decade ago. Only photos I got there are a few of an old Hay Loader. I have searched in vain to find someone who makes these little farming gems in HO (or any other scale)... Think it would make a good scratch build?
I remember the one we had on the farm when i was very young. The last time we ever used it, I was about 2 or 3 years old and remember riding on my dad's knee on the Ford 8n while some of the neighbor farmers loaded the old wagon with hay. We had a fork lift to take the hay off the wagon and drop it into the mow. I'm not sure it was used that year as I don't remember it ever being used while I was growing up. There may have been a stationary baler parked out back of the barn and bales went into the mow. You can see one of the Hay Loaders in action here, complete with a pair of Guernsey Oxen at work..... I still have the old 3 tine hay fork down cellar from the farm along with several other old farm stuff.
Jeffrey, very sorry to hear about your mother. My prayers for all of you, and I hope she can go peacefully when it is her time!
Galaxy..... Where art thou, Galaxy??? Hope you are OK!
Paul, prayers for your wife (and you) for a good outcome!

The weather guesser here should be boiled in oil or at least tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail. The 'minor' small shower he reported turned out to be a full blown thunderstorm long on wind, rain, hail and lightning. Lots of lightning. Power was knocked out four or five times. I had heard it coming and got my stuff shut down with literally a few minutes to spare. Between power outages and afterward I watched playoff games of the Little League World Series that I had recorded on the DVR. Kentucky edged by Illinois 4-3 I believe and I'm currently watching Georgia give Virginia a case of heartburn. I do so like to watch kids having fun and these are having a blast.Well, it's time for me to call it a night. Only some very minor layout work done today. See y'all tomorrow. We're looking at a 40% chance of rain then.Several LS&W hoppers at Sundown Louisiana.

Gary, you big tease! You know I want your Santa Fe Erie Built lash up! As far as Alton IL, I loved it when I worked there! Great little town.
If IHC had not folded I was going to get one of there Streamers. I did start getting passenger cars, but only one heavy weight.
Foot Front. Remember the blisters I talked about last week? Well the one on the right foot that has the infected toe is starting to look nasty! Before the Toe Thing happened I would have blown-en it off! Not this time!
Train Front. Todd come get your friend Mr Murphy! Seems he has been playing with my Digitrax DB 150. All of the engines are running like the DB 150 is on the N Scale Settings and not HO. I have posted in the DCC section on how to get rid of him!
Work Front Well today sucked. So everything is normal.
Jeffery you have a PM.
See you all Thursday!

Just coffee this morning. Thanks.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Well too late to change my mind about what I threw away. The garbage men just came.
Jeff- I’m so sorry to hear the news about your Mother. I missed what was going on. I knew they kept her for longer, but I didn’t get why or that there was anything seriously wrong. Kind of a shock to hear. My prayers go out to her, you, your Father and all her family and friends.
I hope Ggot an appointment with the doc and has his ears checked. If nothing else he'll feel better there.
Well I got the floor finished yesterday, save the grouting, just in time to get settled it to watch China get cheated once again out of a medal in Beach Volleyball. Hard to believe the #1 rated team in the world, not to mention Xue Chen being rated the #2 hottest player in the world, could possibly come away with nothing other than the Gold medal winning USA team claiming they were the toughest team they played. Whoopty doo. Small consolation. Harrumph. USA I kinda understand, I mean that's how we got this great land of ours by cheating. Kinda a tradition, but Bra-ZIL???!! Come on. Musta felt sorry for them or heard about that wax they apparently have. I guess Brazilian wax must be better than Carnuba. Wonder if you can buy it up here. I'd try it on the truck. On second thought, forget it. I'm boycotting Brazil. Robbed I tell you, ROBBED!!!!!
After the heart wrenching loss I set the toilet and then cleaned up all the mess and materials and tools I need no more on this little project and now am ready to grout.
And I hate grouting.
Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

It will be partly cloudy with a high of 93° and an expected index of 106°.Nothing but a bit of layout cleanup expected today. Last night was wet, windy and loud. Boy, did the weather guesser miss on that one!
Morning...
It is currently raining out and 66F It has been so dry here for so long that I am in shock that we actually seeing it pour out here....

Jeff, I so sorry to hear about your mother.
TA462, “Since its going to be a new one I doubt I'll call them though. I've had or been around boats all my life. “
22 years in the Coast Guard that is exactly what everyone I’ve pulled out of the water said to me, some have added: “it happened so fast”. Good luck with the new boat.

Currently 63F and heading for 90+. We average 33 90+ / year and the record is 61 and we set that record only a few years ago. So it looks like we might break the record given we have had 7 of 8 days in Aug above 90 already and the forecast is for more and more and more. Smoke from Out-of-State FIRES are starting to drift in again today. Hi Ho, Hi Ho, back to work I go...

Jeffery Sorry to hear about your Mon. Sorry I missed it when you first posted the news.
Got up late again. When I close I need to go straight to bed rather than sitting out here in the Garage / Train / Snake room.
Nurse will be coming out here Friday to take a look at my blister.
Train Front Will try to reset the DB 150 tonight or Friday. Randy seems to think one of my phases of the track power has gone out. I will check the voltage after I do the reset. My guess the DB 150 is going on a vacation to Florida. Sure glad I kept the Bachmann E Z Command.
Can't believe it is all most time to get ready to go to work! Getting up at 9:00 AM has it draw backs.
Latter, Ken
Good.... (stops and looks at watch), ah... That late already huh? Good afternoon diners!
Chloe, I'll have a Bacon Cheeseburger, french fries and a tall glass of lemonade for lunch.
Meant to get in earlier and got busy with some other stuff. Seems like it will be another week or so before the city gives me a permit to get the solar system installed.... I sure hope the company isn't waiting on the permit to file the for the grant....... There was a screw up in getting the required form at the code office. The contractor says it was sent over a week ago, but the code office says they are still waiting for it. I sent an email to the contractor asking where everything is at this moment and what still needs to be done to get it moving. [Update] Just got an email back from the installer. He says that everything is looking good and they could be ready to do the installation in about 2 weeks if all goes well..... YES!
Ken, is this "blister" something new or the toe problem from earlier?
Wonder what has happened to Galaxy? Not like him to be missing......
Catch you all later! Have to take the kitties in for their Vet appointments today.... Fun!
mmmm...thermometer at back deck reads....64F.....
and raining....hard....
Galaxy....where are you!/!?!?!?!
I put a Digitrax DH123 decoder into the F7 slug today and speed matched it as close as I could to the Bachmann equipped GP38-2 and SD27J consist to which the slug is now coupled. It looks kind of strange back there but at the same interesting.
Just came in to say "HOWDY".
Prayers for all.
Flip
Hi Flip!
Janie, a hot fudge sundae and a decaf would be great for dessert tonight.
Late this afternoon I got an email from the City Code office.... The permit for the solar system is signed and ready to pick up. So by tomorrow afternoon everything should be go for the process to begin on the installation. There will be all kinds of "required inspections" and conditions to be met, but most of that is up to the installer to do.
Got "the boys" to their doctors appointments this afternoon..... Funny, Manét is the sweet and gentle one here at home, but required an assistant with the heavy gloves on to hold him still so the vet could check one of his teeth. He almost nailed my hand when I tried to hold him still while the vet tried to check him. He may be losing one of his fangs! Blackie gets terrified and goes into "if I hide my head in your arms maybe she will go away and leave me alone" mode.... Purrrrrr, purrrrr. puuuurrrrrrr! He has already lost 3 teeth, but seems to do fine with what he has left. He sure isn't wasting away at 19.75 lbs. He is now a half lb. heavier than Manét! Other than the teeth thing they are both in excellent health.
I was given a collection of old, mostly HO" equipment tonight by a friend from Scouts and my Church. He basically wanted to get rid of the stuff. I don't believe there is much that I would keep for my layout (couple cars might be backdated and brought up to good enough standards to use). Most are LifeLike or Model Power...... I'll be passing most of it on to others who might have a use for it. I will sit down sometime in the next week or so and catalogue everything.
Catch you all later!
Evening All,
Flo I would love a Unsweetened Ice Tea please. While you are at it get everybody what the want on me.
Went up to Jon's today and we discussed DCC for several hours. I was thinking I needed to upgrade to a bigger system because I thought my track voltage was running 10-11v. He called Digitrax and found out how to actually check track voltage (back of command station) and in reality it is 13.34v. He could easily of sold me something but he didn't and thats why I like and trust his opinion. He did convince me to buy a DCC Specialties PSX-1 circuit breaker which I purchased online today since he was out of them.
I have been testing, taking photos, writing descriptions and boxing up the items that will be going onto Ebay to sell this week. I also renewed my personal liability insurance that I keep for my job.
TA462- Sounds like a good day for YOH. I have always wanted a jeep but it never seems to happen.
Ken- Good luck with the toe.
Galaxy- Hope you are OK.
Jeff- I think you are the most productive model railroader I have ever seen. Well done.
Lee- I have to agree with you, most safety rules and guidelines are written in blood.
Hope everyone has a great night and prayers for those in need.
Curt Webb Jeff- I think you are the most productive model railroader I have ever seen. Well done.
Time for me to call it a night. Still near 90 outside. 30% rain chance tonight. Radar shows some patches but nothing major. Expecting 40% Friday. Put a decoder in the F7 slug and put the L&A decals on it. Ran it in consist with the GP38 and SD27J. It runs flawlessly. See y'all tomorrow.
Good Evening Diners!
Another beautiful day here in Winnipeg. A balmy 26C with an nice breeze out of the NW at about 10 knots. One of those days when I almost wish I still had the sailboat. At times I do miss it but not enough to buy another one. I suppose 35 years of sailing will have to just be sufficient. Maybe it was TA462's talk of visiting marinas to look at boats. Mind you if I want to look at a boat I do have a nice model of Bluenose on my credenza at work.
I'm on holidays until Monday but haven't done much of anything which in itself isn't a bad way to take a vacation. I did have a visit from Ken's Mr.Murphy though. I decided to replace the tender on my light mountain with a long one and in the process lost power pickup. It became intermittent and I must have re-soldered that stupid light board into that tender a half dozen times until I found out that the problem was the pickup in the loco. That took 2 days of fooling aroung but I traced it to the bronze pickup strip that just has a pressure fit onto a brass pad. They are now soldered so no more problems.
Hope everyone with health issues finds improvement, especially Garry and Barry. Where is Galaxy anyway? Hope he is ok.
See you soon,
CN Charlie
Flo, Beer pleases.
Man I am beat!
Ray, the blister is something new. When I went back to work on the 2nd I had not got my Diabetic shoes yet. So I bought a wide tennis shoe till I got my Diabetic Shoes. The 2 days I wore them I got blisters on the bottom of both feet. One on the left foot is about 1/4 inch by 1/2 inch. One on the right foot (Infected toe foot) is 1/2 inch by 2 and a 1/4 inch.
It been a week now and the blister on the left foot looks normal, well for a blister. One on the right foot does not look like it is getting better. So I have the Nurse coming out to look at it.
See you all later.
August 10, 2012 is the 223rd day of the year 2012 in the Gregorian calendar. There are 143 days remaining until the end of this year. The day of the week is Friday.
If you are trying to learn Japanese then this day of the week in Japanese is Kin'yōbi.
Thunderstorms, 65F, 90% humidity, Hi today 75F, ½” of rain expected by 1600hrs.
Ray, we require proof of financial undertaking before we issue a permit in the bridge world.
Ken, if you would take a break from those 5 mile runs every morning you wouldn’t have those blisters.
Flip, how have you been?
Curt, I believe proof that the safety laws work has been written in a “dead fish smell” most of my years in the Coast Guard. I think my tour in the Western Lake Erie basin was the worst where I picked up about 30. Several of them were sudden disappearance syndrome where a drunken boater falls overboard and they inhale after their head is submerged. I don’t understand why it happens.
Jeff, I hope things are going as best as they can for your mother and your family. The F7 slug at that camera angle almost looks like an auxiliary water tender for a steam locomotive.
Good WET Morning...
We had a couple of big ol' rain be falling on our heads t'underin'boomers come through...our raingauge has all of 4" of rain in it...and more be coming!!
Today is a day for staying indoors and getting some things done in my trainroom...I need a few more square inches of workspace in there...
Have a good wet day...if it be falling in your'n area!
Coffee and a couple slices of garden pizza please. Thanks.
Partly sunny, with a high near 78. Yup, you read that right not reversed. 78. Hasn’t been that cold in a long time.
Illinoyz State Fair commences today. Sunday I must…er, will be in attendance as it is Veterens Day and we get in free. Ooo. Save 6 bucks for the two. We spend that much more for parking in the infield so it costs about the same. Not a big fair person myself especially when you’ve basically grown up with it and every year there’s something new. Usually it’s “oh look. That stain on the ground is new I think. Don’t remember it from last year. Good thing we came honey or we may have missed it.”
Milked the grouting yesterday , you can do that when you're retired. I should finish today by noon easy. Great, now I jinxed it.
Back from a visit to the Vampire. Have some errands to run today but should be a quiet day.
Later Gator.
