Pulling a late one tonight but it finally has come time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

My A-B pair of FT's. Don't let the Bachmann bodies fool you. They're both Athearn/Proto/Stewart and a couple of other things underneath. You should know by now that with my stuff what you see usually isn't what's under the hood.

I do disagree strongly with Jeff's Doctor, or should I say my Dietician would hang him out to dry on the meat thing.  Most Diabetic clinicians today limit meat to a 4 oz. portion or less and only 2 servings per day.  My dietician told me in no uncertain terms she hates having to visit her patients in the dialysis unit.  Too much protein will destroy a diabetics kidneys! (Jeffrey may need more protein in his diet due to some other conditions he has.)  I guess what I am trying to say is : Listen to and follow your doctor's and dietician's advise and diet!  BTW, what meds are you on so far?  Congratulations on the smoking! Thumbs UpThumbs Up

Yes, it's due to my needs. I'm on a high protein, low starch diet. Doesn't mean it always goes that way.

Evenin' Folks!

Janie, just a cup of decaf for me.  I ate way too much of all the wrong things today at the R&GV RR Picnic...  Pulled pork, BBQ Chicken, Potato Salad, Baked Beans, Corn Bread, Fresh Fruit and an array of whatever you like to drive (non Alcoholic of course).  I had just fruit for supper when I got home.

Ken, Jeffrey is correct on the breads, but that pertains mostly to the store bought commercial stuff.  Commercial Whole Wheat has almost no "Whole Wheat" flour in it.  Same with most of the other breads.  Real "Whole Wheat Bread" made from flour that has the bran in it is much less likely to spike the sugar.  Look for the amount of fiber in the bread as well (the more the better).  I only buy multi-grain whole flour bread baked in store.  Doesn't bump my sugar up nearly as much as pasta.  For me I have to watch even whole grain pasta as it does a number on me.  Part of the trick is to find what YOU can eat and keep the glucose in check. At noon today, RG&E 45 Tonner Beebee Station, is on the active service roster of the R&GV RR Museum!  Right after lunch she was officially brought down for the ceremony attended by several guests (Including a couple high muckky mucks from RG&E)

Here she is arriving at Industry Station for her first "official" trip in service:

The gentleman on the deck is a recent RIT graduate whoa few years ago took on the restoration project that had basically stalled.  After several years and thousands of hours of volunteer time she sure looks and runs great!  He also is in his second term as Vice-President of the Museum.

More photos of the last few days can be found here.

Hope you all are having a great day!

Jeffery, where your ears burning today? Simon and I where talking about how much your modeling skills have improved. Your Box Car is on its way. I did forget the tracking number option, but it should be there by Tuesday.

I was wondering how my hair was getting singed. Nothing bad I hope? I'll be watching for the box to come in.

 Flo, Beer Pleases.

Again, did not get as much done as I wanted. Big Boy is still on the RIP track. Simon did stop by and showed me how to use Decoder Pro as a Electronic Throttle! I posted a quick review on the main page. I really do like it. Curt, I know you run sound engines, take a look.

Stopping Smoking. OK I have take 2 steps toward that goal. While I have the Patch I have yet to use them. Besides stilling some Cigarettes left, I pretty sure I need something to do with my hands. So today I bought a Electronic Cigarette. I can get refills with out Nicotine. Wish me luck!

Hello ... Good to see everybody, but there are too many MIA's.

We're in Alabama for the big get-together for my mother's 93rd b'day. It's good to be together, and Mom is happy to se us. I'm definately sore from traveling, and it was too early to travel I can tell now. Oh well. It'll get better eventually.

I saw the current MR. In particular there is a good discussion on F-units. They were designed for multiple unit operation with an A-unit on each end so there was no need to turn the direction of the locomotive in terminals. On my layout I run the Burlington F-units as AA, ABA, ABBA, or ABBBA sets as did the Burlington in the 1950's.

I hope a lot of people visit the Diner this weekend.

Happy Model Railroading.

Jeffery, any comments on my blood sugar readings? I all so got the gondola the other day. Sorry I forgot to get you know.

On the wheat bread issue, I had to drop that because it shoots my levels through the roof! Rye is somewhat better, sourdough is lower and pumpernickel is supposedly the best as it's the lowest on the glycemic index. Try to avoid foods high in starch. Pasta is OK as it digests slowly, rice isn't as it flashes to sugar. My doctors advice to me was to avoid starchy foods and you can eat all the meat you want as long as it doesn't have much fat.

Let me know when you send that boxcar my way.

Good Morning!!!

Grilled cheese and onion sandwich, an order of onion petals and could I get some of that sweet chili sauce to dip in and a Dr Pepper please. Thank you.

Glad to see Cowboy Rob's ok.

Well today is install a vanity light as it was not really intended to be mounted day. Brenda likes one light fixture. One. So, it is up to me to figure out how to mount this thing in a fashion to intended by the manufacturer. Actually it isn’t that bad but sounds good.

Bathroom is all but done, the shower door was special order of course, she can smell these things and they suddenly become the only one she likes, and I have to replace the ceiling light exhaust fan thing. Not looking forward to that because the thing is clean across the house from the attic entrance in the garage so I have to wade through 2 feet of insulation between the maze of rafter things and try not to miss a joist and stick my foot through the ceiling causing aNOTHER project. What makes it bad is I know one of two things will happen when I do get to the spot. I will have forgotten something and have to go all the way back, or as soon as I get there……, I’ll have to pee.

Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

Good morning, Diners.  The new facelift takes a little getting used to.

Yesterday would have been my dad's 100th birthday if he were still with us.   I guess almost 90 was pretty good though.  It was a full life.

Larry is painting a loco for me.  It will probably be a shay.  WooHoo!

I canned tuna yesterday at a friends house.  I got home after midnight.  I have to go out this morning  to wash the jars.

Later,   Sue

Mornin' everyone!

Janie, I'll have a couple of those sour cream glazed donuts to dunk in my dark roast coffee this morning.

Nice sunny, cool day outside here in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS today.  Currently 65°F with a high around 73°F later this afternoon.  Looks like a perfect day for a picnic out at the R&GV RR Museum!

Sunday is Diesel Day out at the museums so part of the day today will be setting up tents and getting things cleaned up around the place for that.  Tomorrow is supposed to be a pleasant day weather wise also so we should get a good sized crowd.  I'm hoping they have been able to repair the problems with the 45 Tonner so she will be in operation!

Best get moving.  Hope all of you have a safe and fine day!

Today we go to WallyWorld to see the sights.. I found that there are still some Fresh Cherries available...so...why not pick them up?MischiefPirate

Wish I could find some here.

Good morning. It's 75° with 94% humidity. Numerous showers and thunderstorms on tap today with a high of 90° with a heat index of 103°.

Looks like it's gonna be wet and hot today. Nothing much here right now but there's some ugly looking weather coming across Texas. Good sleeping weather. I did some cleanup on my work area yesterday. It only looks half as bad as it did yesterday morning. It's mostly tools, bits of wire and some small parts and screws. There's still more to do.

Good Morning, [I think] .  If its saturday, why was I wide awake at 5:02? Been toasted and coffeed and have laundry going.             Weather the last week has been low 70's in a.m. ,mid 90's in p.m. with scattered T-storms. Guess what? Next five days low 70's in a.m. , mid 90's and scattered T-storms in p.m.. Must be summer in mid Fla.  I don't mind driving in rain but I wish it wasn't so heavy that I cant see the road. Yes,I do pull off till it slacks off. What is dangerous, is the donkeys driving without their headlights on.

Wish y'all a pleasent weekend. Stay hydrated.   Prayers and Blessings,

Really down in the dumps today. Sigh VA gave me some happy pills, but after reading the all the warnings of the side effects I am not in a hurry to take them!

Bloods Sugar. Man I am stumped. Today at 7:30 PM my reading was 127, just a tad high. Ate two pieces of whole wheat bread, piece of cheese and 2 pieces of lunch meat. Guessing total carb's was around 40 grams. 2 hours later tested again and I was at 187?

Chamomile tea, please.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Have been working quite hard on clearing land for the future pasture. Primarily digging up stumps and clearing the perimeter for fences. No time for MRRing for awhile yet. Still much to do before the end of Sept (when I need to seed it) and the clock seems to be ticking faster all the time.

Cheers! Cowboy Rob

Evenin' folks!

Janie just a decaf right now to settle the nerves a bit.

Got the lawn mowed and trimmed today.  For the first time this year I ran out of steam before the mower ran out of battery....  Well the second time actually.  I did about 3 quarters of it and then took a break and had lunch, fed the kitties their lunch, and went down cellar to do wash and fiddle with a few things on the layout.  I got 3 more coats done for the mold today.  Still have several to go before I remove the mold from the form.  Worked on putting some of the trackage in place for the upper staging.  Got the curved turnout installed over the tortoise and then laid part of the track.  Checked it as I went with a couple passenger cars to make sure they would easily negotiate the curve.  This is an area where I want everything perfect as it will be difficult (but not impossible) to work on after the area is finished.

Galaxy, Hope the breathing problems improve quickly for you.

Jim several years ago (back when I was teaching) the office secretary at one of the elementary schools here was starting to dismiss the students when the phone rang.  One of the parents wanted to let her child know she was picking her up due to the thunderstorm rumbling through.  She had just said she would tell the child when a lightning strike hit near the school.  they found her on the floor half way across the office out cold.  911 was called immediately and the nurse gave first responder treatment even before the ambulance arrived.  The lady survived but no longer answered phones during thunderstorms.  All the other buildings had an emergency faculty meeting that day after school!

Hope everyone is getting used to the upgrade downgrade, uh, change of the forums.  I have actually found a couple things I do like such as the spellchecker that works!

Have a great night everyone.

Evening All,

Went out to supper with the family. Been kind of a lazy day today. I was rummaging in one of my spare parts drawers and found a couple of the Caboose Industries ground throws left over from a previous project so I removed 2 tortoises and replaced them with ground throws. One gave me a fit with alignment but I finally got it. I ran my M-1b through those turnouts without issue.

Tomorrow I will be going to the train club then Sunday is back to w**k.

Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need.

Galaxy- My co-workers have given me the nickname of Walter (Jeff Dunham).

Jose jalepeno on a steek? I KILL you! Tee Hee  tee hee {ala Jeff Dunham}

Well

well

I went to the pulmonologist today {after the breathing test} , and my asthma is worse which explains some why my breathing is harder than before. Of course I have gained a few pounds in the last 3 years...they always bring that up. I get out of breath for a simple chore of getting dressed. I don't weeze so much, but can"t seem to catch my breath sometimes for the simplist thing..

SO, he had me do some special blood work and I may have to have an MRI to determine If I have blood clots in my lungs...

Oh goodie if I do...

Started me on another medication for breathing. It doesn't seem to help with the one dose I took when I got home with it, but I have to give it time, naturally.

Well dinner is pulled pork sandwiches..so get your buns toasted...

These last few drives I've rebuilt all look somewhat similar.

Atlas GP40 #2

Atlas FP7

Athearn F7 Slug

They all use Proto motors and Athearn/Proto shafts. The one that's been different was Atlas GP40 #1 which is all Atlas with the exception of the motor which is Proto.

Oh well, there's a Greek in every crowd I guess.

Good Morning, Zoe (yep, still morning for a few more minutes) - I'll have the waffle special, real maple syrup and a pat of butter, glass of OJ, another of milk, and a CAW mug of coffee, please. Thanks!

Jeff, I'd bet that you have more than a few Frankenlocos with four or five different manufacturers represented in one loco. Wink Hope you get feeling better, and if it gets any worse through the day, consider seeing your doctor, please.

Curt, your comment about the lightning strikes made me think about our news this morning said there was a fairly old (and big) tree (don't recall how close in our region) that got hit by lightning yesterday and caught fire. I'd think for lightning that I would want to be in an interior room (preferably no windows), and off any land line (knew of a guy whose wife was killed by a strike that came in through the phone line). Stay safe, everybody!

Not as many Diners in this morning - of course, at w**k today things are a bit slower than usual (not that I mind - easier to make sure my paperw**k gets done). Kinda damp and dreary-looking (I think Barry calls it "dull"...Smile, Wink & Grin).

Boy, would I like to be on the MR Forum Users advisory board (for the interface section)... Wink

Think I'll doodle some ideas for layout plan modifications on the napkin while I wait for my waffles...

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape G.

Jeff- Hope you feel  better. I had to laugh at that video of the speed run.

That's no surprise. I almost busted up laughing when I was making it. On the first part of that run the loco almost ran into the rear of my freight train -- and it wasn't even 3/4 throttle! That motor came out of a Life-Like PA1 in case you're wondering.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have the #2 special this morning, eggs over easy, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sour dough toast (That outta briong the old blood sugar up there....) and dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR mug.  Thank you Ma'am.

Stopped by late last night but didn't post.  It was after 11:30PM by the time I drove in the drive way.  Slept in to way too late this morning.

LSWrr

Ray, no there isn’t but then again the view is pretty plain on I-90 from the PA line to about Sandusky, OH unless you’re really into trees and cement retaining walls.  Where is your sister?

She lives in Florida....... Laugh  Oh, well, she used to live in South Bend, IN.  To get to her house I just drove over to the NYS Thruway and drove to South Bend, got off I-90 and drove a few blocks over to her house....  Didn't even have to use the GPS..........

Had a crowd last night at the museum meeting.  The Rochester G-Scalers came over for the evening.  We used the 80 Tonner and two cabeese up and down the line a few times.  The G-Scalers all left and then only 5 of us went part way up the line for a night photo shoot on RG&E 45 Tonner Beebee Station.  But....  They had to unhook the cabeese from the 80 Tonner and use her to tow the 45 Tonner out for the photo shoot.  Hmmmmmmm???  We were hoping the 45 Tonner would be in use  on Sunday for Diesel Days.  After the shoot was over I asked one of the guys, what was up?  Seems old Beebee Station has a clogged fuel filter and doesn't want to start and run...........   Hopefully an easy fix.

Lee, I'm sure you are aware Beebee staion was the RG&E coal fired plant served by the Hojack Brodge in Charlotte, NY.  The Museum owns both 45 Tonners that were used over there.

I'll have photos later today.

Have a good one and stay safe!
