Good Morning!!!

I’ll have coffee and….oo! what’s that? Never mind. Sometimes it’s best to not know. I’ll have it anyway please. Thanks.

Happy 10th Anniversary G and Other Half!!!! Congrats on learning how to put up with each other. As for the responses, I’ve discovered silence and obedience is a remarkable combinationYes.

I waited until I was 34 to marry the most wonderful woman money can keep. Oh sure she has her faults but I learned to accept them and eventually realized they were not faults at all and altered my ways to be finely tuned to hers. She was right, the way I thought was wrong and am much better for changing. Life before her was carefree and without direction. Freedom. Now with her I have structure and purpose. Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose, and nothing ain’t worth nothing but it’s free. Now I have something to lose, everything or at least half, and that gives life meaning. In other words, it's worth something. See how my life went from worth nothing to something? (sniff) Man she's brilliant. ((sniff) wipes eyes) We all need meaning to feel alive and man do I FEEL ALIVE!!. I no longer have to worry how to do anything because she’s right there to give me instructions. I don’t have to worry about how something is coming along, because she’s right there by my side critiquing me the whole way making sure it gets done just right so I'll be proud of my work. And probably best, I never need a map because she always tells me where to go and how to get there. (sniff) Life is good.

Tom- nice looking steamer. Too bad she’ll have to just sit cause of the 34’s.

Huh? What’s that Zoe? He said it can? Oh... I don’t know. I was just going by what that expert said. He seemed so sure of himself I just figured he knew.

Anyway, turns out the repair to her car was as I thought. Just needed snapped back up. The mechanic looked at me kinda funny so I went into an explanation of why I decided to let them do it. It was a woman mechanic, so I guess I needed to bolster my neanderthal manliness by coming up with an excuse that sounded well, like it’s not that I was unhandy and I could if I wanted after all I was a mechanic for years….then I recognized the look on her face of “ya right” and shut up. I thought it was sounding good up to that point. I could feel the hair growing on my chest. I was not a schedule, just showed up and expected to wait some, but time I showed up to time I left was 20 minutes. She said she’d “squeeze me in” before she started back after lunch (when I showed up which was stright up 1pm) on…….whatever she said she was working on. In the end I didn’t mind. That car really drove niiiice!! I was impressed

All is well in the land of wawa. Turns out the water tower was not drained, it was they didn’t want it drained due to usage. Hence the conservation plea. So much for the local news network at the Casey’sHuh?. Anyway, the boil order also turned out to be a precaution as the water condition was always well above the safe limit. Guess I didn’t have to worry about explosive diarrhea after all.

Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

Tom: The new loco looks great! Congratulations on quitting smoking. That was something I did back in '95 after smoking for twenty-three years. I quit cold turkey. That was seventeen years ago and I haven't smoked since.

Good morning. It's 73° with a high chance of showers and thunderstorms. A flash flood watch is in effect. Locally heavy rainfall is possible. The high will be 82°.

Think I'll stay home today what with the weather being what it is. It's looking like rain through to Wednesday. The grass is growing like there's no tomorrow and I can't cut it with all this rain.

I had a lot of fun yesterday speed matching the Dash 8-40B to run with two locos that have Bachmann decoders (Bachmann GP38-2 and Atlas SD27J). The Dash 8-40B has a Digitrax decoder. Compared to those two it took off at warp one! They'd keep up with it at higher speeds but at low speed it was a speed demon. I had to make minor changes in the mid and high speed settings (CV6 & CV5) but the low speed (CV2) had to be set all the way down to one. It's normally twenty-six.

On the agenda today is more layout cleanup. It's already a mess from working on the new arrivals.

Wow!  What a beauty!  Congrats, Tom, on your new work horse.  Also, congrats on quitting  smoking.  I had a patient who used stimudents to massage his gums whenever he felt the hand to mouth urge while he was quitting smoking.  His gum health improved drastically, and he didn't put on weight either.  Good luck!

Now for my coffee before I head to the pool.

I just mixed up anouther bottle of (wet) glue, didn't realize that it was THAT hard to mix.Sigh

It's not. I use 50% water, 50% Elmer's glue and a few drops of dish soap and shake well to blend.

Good Morning

We are currently sitting at 55F going for a high of 86F in the sun...of course the humidity will make it feel like it is 94F out here...

Got some IV things to do today then it is off until 2 weeks from now to see how the treatments took....

So, after the treatments I am going to my FLHS to see about picking up some more paint and such....Pirate

Ahem----Cool

Jim:  Yes, I went over to Bruce's and picked her up, today, all ten drivers and three cylinders of her.  Interesting--there were about four other guys in the shop when I went over, as we put it on the test track, one of them asked me: "How big's your minimum radius?"  "34"-", I answered.  "Won't make it.  Need a 40 at least.  You just bought yourself a Shelf Queen."   I shrugged.  Got the little lady home.  Early Westside, lots of lateral play in the drivers.  Despite that long wheelbase, she slides through my #5 yard switches without a burp.  Actually looks GOOD on 34"--well, at least the cab overhang isn't taking out any adjacent scenery, LOL!   Very powerful open-frame motor and the usual smooth Westside reduction gear.   Cleaned up her gears--no gunk from being on the shelf for so long, thankfully, gave her a little #8 oil on the rods and eccentrics, hooked her up to about 20 cars to break her in, runs smooth as silk, no spinning on the grades.   She feels like she weighs about 4 or 5 pounds--she's the biggest non-articulated I have and certainly one of the HEAVIEST!!   And I've always had VERY good luck with Westside brass imports.  I think she's one really HANDSOME lady!  Stick out tongue

Paint shop as soon as the weather breaks.  It was 108 here today, supposed to be cooler--107--tomorrow.  Hopefully mid-nineties by the weekend.   I've got color photos of #5011, so I've got a good guide for the painting.

I'm a Very Happy Camper.

Best to all, prayers to those in need.

Galaxy!

Good Morning Gang!

Galaxy beat me by two weeks. My own anniversary is coming up in two weeks. It´ll be our 28th this year, that´s exactly half of my life. Most marriages don´t last that long nowadays. Apparently, those couples do not understand how to maintain a balance between "You", "Me" and "We".

Zoe, just coffee for me, please.

Daren - as we are ahead of you guys, it must be steam era vs. modern times Mischief

This is going to be a dull day again - lots of big black clouds pouring H2O over us. This is no summer!

Have a safe day!

Well  Galaxy,     Your Better Half and Yourself have made it TEN YEARS. That is a wonderful accomplishment. I remember our tenth anniversary and it was a lot better than the ones now.  "Old Pharts now" don't have the same stamina.

But for you pair of love birds, I want to wish you a

with many more to come.   May you have a great day, a wonderful year and memorable life together.

Hey Darren!

The roof on that little station still looks pretty good! It could stand for another 30 plus years. Too bad there aren't enough people who want to see these little gems preserved.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf for me......

'tis a nice cool 66°F outside at the moment...  Air conditioners are off and the fan put in the bedroom window for the night.  Now if we could only get an inch or so of rain, all would be good.

Tom, I too am addicted to ice cream!  I have it for desert almost every night, but make sure the helping is kept within the amount I am allowed for my diabetic diet......  OK, I cheat a bit some times....  Yeah, I cheat a lot, but it is my only weakness.  Well one of of my few weakness... "No Never?" "Hardly Ever!"

My hearing aids appear to working very well since this visit!  While I was finishing up the laundry and completing the changes to the little trestle bridge, I put on a CD of some of my old favorites....  They sounded good for a change!  Now I need to get the guitar out and get it tuned.  And... find my old classical books!

Galaxy, enjoy the 10th. Anniversary and all you both have planned for it!  been married 10 happy years huh?.. So how long have you been married total?  CLUNK!  Ow! ow! ow!  Sheesh, Janie, I was just joking!!!  (Touchy, touchy, touchy!)  Huh?  Oh nothing!  shhhhh....

Barry, good luck with the treatment!  Keeping you in my prayers!

Hope you all have a great night...  Of course Ulrich is just about to get up from his second nap of the night....!Laugh

Evening, Chloe, I'll just have a Santa Fe mug of coffee, please. Thanks!

Thanks, Jeff - I've seen that suggestion before, but for me, switching back and forth between two programs (browser to read the posts, and then back to a word processing program) takes more time than turning off permissions (for googleapis.com, which will refresh on you without warning) and typing in the forum's 'post-processor' (or whatever longer name we might give it). Besides, the WiFi spot here isn't predictable about when it will send me to OpenDNS (and lose what I'd typed). Better would be for me to go to HTML or copy everything in my post window, and THEN push the post button. That way, I'd have my post in my memory, and could - if the WiFi gets cantankerous with me - allow me to save it (without formatting, perhaps) and then go back and get it posted. Doesn't happen often enough with the WiFi to justify the extra time from using two different programs... Nice  F-units that you have there - and the road/Dash 8 unit looks almost brand new (though I'm sure you may be planning to do something about that one... Smile, Wink & Grin I think I might have seen that BB F-unit before... Wink

Okay, I'm having a little trouble separating out what it is we're talking about in here. Is it a rusty loco, rusty caboose, rusty tender (and would that be a boom tender, loco tender, or what)?? I'm confused....Huh?Whistling

Barry, rest up after helping with that tractor. And AngelAngel for good lab reports back (and not dragging out forever to hear on them...)Thumbs Up

Lee, congrats on the good report from your doctor. Thumbs Up Maybe your body is progressing so well because you live near all those mechanics? Smile, Wink & Grin

Sawyer, I looked up gymkhana, and it sounds... interesting! (But I think I'll pass on trying it myself...) Whistling

Todd, not a bad idea at all, about letting the dealer 'adjust' anything out of whack on Brenda's car.Mischief

Well, BridgeTom?... Didja, didja get that 4-10-2? I was kinda surprised when you said it would run on 30" curves. THAT is amazing! Wow

Galaxy, enjoy your & your OH's Happy Tenth! Sounds like a yummy, er, I mean fun and great day! Wink (And I'll have to remember that "There is no safe answer" remark - just in case I get lucky like you...)Whistling

Back to the office tomorrow morning. Sigh (Today was pretty much completely 'off', except had to reschedule one appointment that had (somehow) managed to get put in on my day off; got that moved to Friday before I left the office this a.m.). This weekend, I'm planning to meet up with Garry in Cadiz and see all the new stuff he has. Also may run my 2-truck Shay (MDC w/NWSL upgrade c/o a guru I know for that kind of thing) and a new ConCor heavyweight combine (baggage/coach) car.

Prayers for those with anniversaries coming up Whistling, as well as for those in need fo comfort, healing, and/or good lab results, and those needing a better night's sleep.

Blessings,

Well, today I finally got the base to hold the modules built...but now I need to change some more junk up...but I'm tired of woodwork, so I'll probably get to it next week. Tomorrow though, I'll have a video describing everything.

Time for me to call it a night. Went to town today to get refills on my prescriptions and get a pizza. I found that all my prescriptions are expired. So it looks like they won't be filled until sometime tomorrow or Friday. I did get the pizza though. A Domino's large thin crust meat feast. So the trip wasn't a total loss. I learned that a Niagara I recently sold arrived safely at it's destination today. See y'all tomorrow.

Why do you think i am nearing the 50 mark of age and only celebrating the 10th anniversary? I played that game too. Then I got struck by something!  Now I cannot imagine life without MOH.

I can't claim any anniversary like that but I can claim fifty-two years of being happily single.

I think my dog is mentally retarded at the moment. I was getting a haircut from my father, and she lays in the pile of hair and eats whatever falls on her. Weird dog I suppose...

Well I tried swapping the TCS A6X from my U33C to my SD7 and it worked for a little bit. Then the decoder randomly came up with a dead short. Luckily TCS has their warranty, but it puts that SD7 on the backburner for a while. The NCE D15 supports the extra function, but I get weird results when trying LEDs and the beacon with the factory board.

Galaxy, I'm approaching 23, so I have some time it looks like.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
